Botanical garden
Entebbe Botanical Garden, established in 1898, is situated near the equator on the northern shores of Lake Victoria. The garden boasts a diverse collection of plant species from tropical, sub-tropical, and temperate zones. With 309 species including aliens, medicinal plants, and native Ugandan species, it serves as an important educational hub for biodiversity studies. This serene spot has been a popular retreat for both locals and tourists seeking relaxation amidst nature's beauty.
Entry payment through MTN, airtel money or by card. Charges are 5k for East Africans. Such a serene place this was! I think one of the best in Entebbe to enjoy proximity to the lake PLUS the wide variety of plants, some birds and different kinds of monkeys. Take your time with this place; bring a book, curiosity about what is around and be ready to enjoy the sounds of nature
Wilkister L — Google review
My visit to the Entebbe Botanical Gardens was nothing short of refreshing! From the moment I walked in, I was embraced by the calmness of nature—no noise, just peace. The cool breeze from the water was so soothing, and I loved how the whistling of birds filled the air, creating the perfect natural soundtrack. 🕊️ The gardens themselves are beautiful and spacious, with so much greenery that instantly makes you feel relaxed. It’s the perfect place to escape the hustle of daily life and just connect with nature. To top it all off, the food was simple yet satisfying—especially the chips! 🍟 Sitting under the trees, enjoying a plate of food while surrounded by nature, was such a wholesome experience. If you’re ever in Entebbe and looking for a calm, refreshing, and nature-filled getaway, the Botanical Gardens are definitely worth a visit. 🌊🌳✨

The garden is an oasis of peace and tranquility. There is a variety of stunning old trees, various species of flowers, many sorts of bird and two species of cute monkey. It's very well kept. Entrance is 20.000 shillings for foreign adults, payment is by card or mobile payment only (NO cash). There are several free toilets inside with either running water or water is provided in jugs. There are two beaches, both offer boat tours to various islands or you can take a 15 minute boat ride for 50k. At the second beach you can also sit at various cafes or bars. They have alcoholic drinks, coffee, ice cream, grilled fish and Rolex. The only negative as noted by others is that the music is extremely loud. You have to look for a spot farther from the source of the music. Overall, we were very pleasantly surprised and enjoyed out time at the garden.
Hunor P — Google review
Great place to spend time. Take a slow stroll , forget your daily life amd I.merse yourself In. The greenery around. Sit by the side of the lake and immerse yourself in the sound of the waves. Walk a bit and you will discover a quite spot away from the shops 😉
Shriram N — Google review
Much vegetation to enjoy as you move around in the park. Roads could use some maintenance in some areas. We also enjoyed the monkeys. We found the entrance fees a bit high for what it’s worth.
Ricky M — Google review
Great place to relax and unwind with the sounds of nature, birds lake etc. Excellent location for a nature walk. There is a restaurant/cafe at the beach where you can grab a bite (rolex 😅) and coffee with great lake views.
Buka A — Google review
Great place to explore. Use a guide. Offer $20 or more for a gratuity. It's a wonderful way to see everything, including the MONKEYS!
John R — Google review
It is a beautiful place with lovely trees, birds, and even monkeys. It could be very peaceful, but there were some loud people playing football and blasting music. This is quite disturbing and annoying for those who come here to relax, especially because the town itself is already so noisy. This should be a peaceful space to take a break from the crowded city. I also believe that the loud humans are disturbing for the animals living there. There was some police driving through the garden; I think they told the group to quiet down after a while. There were also two very cute dogs following me around, the little one even fell asleep in my arms.

Outdoor Activities
The Uganda Wildlife Conservation Education Centre, also known as the Entebbe Zoo, is located in Entebbe Town near the international airport. Established in 1950, it serves as a sanctuary for injured and confiscated wildlife. Visitors can enjoy seeing a variety of animals such as lions, giraffes, elephants, and chimpanzees while learning about Uganda's conservation efforts. The center offers both leisure and educational tours with opportunities to participate in feeding the animals.
Uganda Wildlife Conservation Education Centre in Entebbe is an incredible place for anyone who loves animals and nature. The staff are knowledgeable and caring, and the animals are well looked after. It’s a great place to learn about Uganda’s rich wildlife heritage while supporting conservation efforts. The environment is clean and peaceful, perfect for a family visit or a solo trip. The guided tours are informative, and you can get surprisingly close to the animals. I highly recommend it for both locals and tourists looking for a meaningful and enjoyable experience.
Ronnie U — Google review
Excellent Service and Guides, but Needs More Wildlife & Value for Money I recently visited the Uganda Wildlife Conservation Education Centre (UWEC) and had a very mixed but overall positive experience. The absolute highlight was the service provided. The staff were fantastic, and the young woman who led our tour and explained the animals was incredibly knowledgeable and skillful. Her expertise and enthusiasm truly elevated the visit. However, when comparing the UWEC to similar centers in other countries, the quantity of animals is noticeably lower. While the quality of care seems high, I felt the collection was quite limited. A major plus for me was the incredible opportunity to see the White Rhinos. That sighting alone brought me a lot of joy! The entry fee is $15, and this is where I have a slight reservation. Given the limited number of animals, I question whether the overall experience provides enough value for that $15 charge. While the guiding service is excellent, the center itself needs to be better formalized and organized to fully justify the price and live up to its potential as a national conservation center. It's a wonderful place with great people, but a stronger institutional structure and a more diverse animal collection would make it an undeniable 5-star destination.
Amila M — Google review
Wow,, this place was fun spending an evening in there with animals. I personally enjoyed the following 1. Lions as they kept on roaring around the cages, people seem to move even closer 2. Cheaters they are aggressive even from their cages, 3. Elephants, I saw the two big ones and one small Elephant, friendly atmosphere in there 4. Rhino, was also rooming around though it looked ugly 5. Many other animals like giraffes, chimps, ostrich, zebras and buffalo among others. Visit the Uganda Wildlife Conservation centre today.
Conrad — Google review
It looks like a huge forest — truly an unbelievable experience! The place is home to many different kinds of animals and offers a beautiful, peaceful spot to stay near Lake Victoria
Ryan M — Google review
The center emphasizes its role as a sanctuary for rescued animals and a place for education, which aligns with many visitor experiences. I commend them on the educational value, especially for children, with knowledgeable guides providing facts about the animals and conservation efforts. I must note the need for more maintenance around the grounds.
Tim B — Google review
The zoo is a place I had childhood memories with, over 20 years later, the zoo is a different place in 2025. The animals, the cleanness of the area, the hospitality of the staff & the quietness of the place is what really makes it amazing. Truly a place like no other.
Ivan M — Google review
Had so much fun and food. I had no idea there was even a beach and restaurants inside and I didn't need to first go to another place. All the animals I really hoped to see where there.
TK G — Google review
I love the fact that the first animals you see are elephants They have a wide range of packages from "keeper of the day" to "behind the scenes" to give you a memorable experience. There's a beach and even though swimming is not allowed, there a spots you can utilise to unwind while watching the waves

Nature & Parks
Mabamba Swamp in Entebbe, Uganda, is the perfect spot to catch a glimpse of the elusive Shoebill Stork. As the largest swamp on Lake Victoria, it provides a habitat for various bird species and aquatic animals. Visitors have praised local guides for their fair pricing and extensive knowledge of the area, ensuring an unforgettable experience. Bird enthusiasts can expect to spot numerous avian species during guided tours, making Mabamba Swamp a must-visit destination for any nature lover.
We had an amazing experience with Shakur. He is a very knowledgeable man and a good guide. We saw 2 shoebill birds on our experience.
Kyle Z — Google review
We had an absolutely amazing experience at Mabamba Swamp! The variety of bird species here is simply astounding — we spotted kingfishers, striking yellow weavers, white egrets, the marabou storks, regal cranes, blue herons, and even some geese (perhaps introduced but a pleasant surprise!). The boat rides were serene and offered close-up views of these beautiful creatures in their natural habitats. Island hopping was another highlight — the nearby islands are breathtaking and provided a perfect backdrop for an afternoon of exploration. The sunsets over the water were absolutely stunning, turning the sky into a canvas of warm red and yellow hues. We didn't use any guides, as we love to go solo, but we were told the guides are quite knowledgeable and friendly. Every moment feels like a new discovery, and it is truly a paradise for bird lovers and nature enthusiasts alike. Highly recommended!
Michael N — Google review
Absolutely loved the boat tour to see the shoebill stork. Livingston, our guide, was incredibly knowledgeable about all the birds we saw. As an avid bird lover, I particularly appreciated his identification skills and knowledge of the habitat and behaviors of the birds. He was very skilled and made the trip that much more memorable.
Kristin M — Google review
Livingstone and his group are amazing! Definitely do this tour and with this organisation!! We didn’t know what to expect but it’s a great half day program with lots of birds and great company. Livingstone even recommended dinner and organised for a friend to drop us home!
Stephanie R — Google review
Had an amazing experience with our guides Livingstone and Eric. He was incredibly knowledgable about all the birds in the area as-well as the area as a whole. We had a nice boat ride over to the swamp from Entebbe (45mins) where we transfered to a smaller canoe to navigate the swamp. We were incredible lucky and got a very close encounter with a shoebill. I would highly recommend this as a must to in Entebbe or on the way transiting through the airport.
Ben J — Google review
We enjoyed our tour into Mabamba Swamp and, with the cooperation of all the guides, successfully found a shoebill. Our guide, Livingston is very knowledgeable about the birds in the area which was valuable for us. He offers the best price for the tour I could find.
Koji Y — Google review
Amazing experience. In this swamp live 15/16 Shoebill Storks. The probability of sighting is 80% ! Short excursion, close to Entebbe and not to be missed
Nicola D — Google review
We went through Entebbe Airport Guesthouse and Paul to book this activity, which was a must on our five-week trip to Uganda. We easily found Paul in the Nakiwogo car park and he took us to the Mabamba landing stage where, after a bit of confusion, we took a small canoe with another boatman, who did not introduce himself, and a guide, Maria. Maria was very good and very committed to helping us find a shoebill. There aren't many shoebills in the swamp, so everyone ended up in front of the same shoebill. It was a magnificent large male, staring intently, waiting to catch a fish. We were able to observe it closely without disturbing it. Unfortunately, we ended up with many canoes in the same spot. The boats were racing through the swamp, the guides were talking loudly to each other, and their phones were ringing non-stop. Maria told us that there was no limit on the number of boats... Really not what you would expect from such an expensive birdwatching trip. On the way back, we tried to observe malachite kingfishers, but the boatman, in a hurry to get back, was not focused and really not good at anticipating and approaching them. Keep safe your shoebills and your swamp !

The Reptile Village in Entebbe, located just 10km from the international airport, is a sanctuary established in 2003 to protect various reptile species. Visitors can witness over 20 different types of reptiles on display, including cobras, mambas, pythons, boomslangs, skinks, monitor lizards, Nile crocodiles and tortoises.
Enjoy your visit with the venomous and non-venomous snakes' viewing. Tortoise viewing and Cricodile viewing and feeding. More exciting with the Chameleons and also water bird watching. You may be lucky to meet with the mighty Shoebill. The place is generally quiet and cool for kids too.
Kelly L — Google review
I have visited this place and I had mixed feelings. You will find rescued reptiles here. You will find various venomous snakes(I liked Mozambique spitting cobra the most), chameleons, Crocs, tortoises, turtles, etc. Staff are very friendly here. I found there is a very low crowd. I forgot the amount they charged from me. But they haven't gave any ticket. They gave few discounts as well. The place is not so attractive. Living conditions of animals are not very good. As it is run by the local community so it might be ok. But it has a huge scope of improvement. Road conditions are also not good to go there. The number of animals is very less. Which might not fulfill your expectations. If you are really an animal lover and you have enough time, then you can go here. I enjoyed a little, but my tour mates had negative feelings.
Arif M — Google review
This is a place where you will find rescued Reptiles from Ugandan communities. These include; various venomous Snakes, Chameleons, Crocs, Tortoise, turtles, etc. Julie is there to welcome you and take you around The money that you at the entrance help the organisation to buy food for the animals. Therefore, reserve time and visit Reptiles Village.

- Toilets are very dirty. - 20.000 ugx paid per person, i am not sure it worths - 15 minute visit not more - place is in very bad condition - young guide (14 yo) was very kind and informative - roads are very bad - flies everywhere, the place is in swamps - you don't miss anything if you don't go there
Kaan T — Google review
Unique experience, highly recommend this place! The guide is well educated on the animals and gives good explanations and demonstrates what the animals can do. This organization rescues and releases reptiles back into the wild. We got to see many types of snakes, crocodiles, tortoises and turtles, monitor lizards, and chameleons. Consider donating towards food for the animals so they can rescue and save more animals!
Elisa — Google review
It is a small sanctuary owned by the local community. They have different kinds of snakes rescued from various locations. They also had nile aligators and chamelions. The tour guide was a friendly lady and very informative. The ticket price was $8 for foreigners.
Fabiha H — Google review
If you have the chance you must go, incredible what they are doing with little resources. The guide gave us lots of information about how it is managed, the reason to do it, and of course, plenty of interesting stuff about the reptiles in there. You are not going to see tons of animals because is not intended for that, paying the entrance will make you understand how dedicated the people working in there are with Uganda's wildlife. Great job!
Alberto R — Google review
There are so many misconceptions about snakes, as a Ophidiophilic individual, visiting reptile village came in timely to help me convey the desired message to enhance its conservation. I highly recommend it for persons who would love to overcome their phobias for reptiles.

!UNSAFE FOR TOURISTS! Arrived, paid for rental clubs and a round of golf for 5 people. After teeing off on the first hole we were then informed there was a tournament that day and we were not good enough to continue playing. They refused to issue a refund and extorted us out of Ush1,000,000+. Had they informed us on arrival, we would have waited or rescheduled. The gentleman in the proshop was very friendly and tried to resolve the issues for us. Management and the club "pro" were the problem. !UNSAFE FOR TOURISTS!

Faze 3 is a popular restaurant in Entebbe, Uganda, known for its delicious flavors. It is one of the top choices among visitors to the area. The restaurant offers a variety of cuisines and has received positive reviews from patrons. Situated near Lake Victoria and Sesse Islands, Faze 3 provides a pleasant dining experience with amenities such as complimentary wireless Internet access and a television in a garden setting.
We've eaten there twice with a group. Consistently good food! Service was a little slow, but gave us more time to visit. The restaurant is gated with a guard so never felt at risk. Would definitely go back!
Susan M — Google review
I recently visited Faze 3 in Entebbe with a few friends to try it out. We ordered quite a few dishes and were very impressed. The food was very nice, freshly prepared, and bursting with flavours. The staff were very welcoming and recommended some great dishes. The ambiance was lovely, with a nice outdoor space to enjoy. Overall, it was a delightful experience, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for good food in Entebbe.

It had been a fantastic Tilapia! I got a lot in the past but this one had been outstanding. The fruit drinks had been very good and the service is excellent. A strong recommendation from my side!

Our team comes here every year we visit for our mission outreach. The food is amazing and the staff is extremely friendly. I'll definitely be back, Lord willing.

The food is good but you're unlikely to find traditionally made Ugandan food. Very conveniently close to Entebbe Airport incase you're on transit and have time to exit and eat some non-airport food.
N. K — Google review
A large selection of dishes, especially western cuisine. Good portion sizes. Depending on what you order, it can take over 30 min to get it, so if your in a hurry you may need to choose carefully.
Isaac W — Google review
Just the best place to stop by for a meal in Entebbe before heading to catch a flight if one is driving to Entebbe ahead of time to beat the Kampala traffic. Sit and watch the planes taking off. Great food. Look out for their cheesecake.
Sahil P — Google review
It's a cool place, no noise. Good for people who want to reflect their last minutes or hours before flying out. Great place to catch your last supper before getting into those long hours of flying. On entry, you might actually think there's not much going until you get in. It might seem boring from the looks especially the exterior of the building, there's modernity inside. They have enough ample parking space, great view of the sunset, airport where you get to see landings and takeoffs, the calmness of lake Victoria and so forth. Food here is just so good. For the time I've been here, the waiters have been lovely and warm. With dining space, you have a choice of either inside, "payot" or open space. The security is good.

For those who appreciate fine cuisine, when exploring new destinations, they are naturally always on the lookout for top-notch dining establishments. You can expect an exceptional culinary experience at Goretti's Pizzeria And Bar in Entebbe. This fantastic eatery offers a delightful menu featuring delectable tilapia dishes that are not to be missed. The attentive staff and flawless service contribute to the overall enjoyable atmosphere of the place.
Great Food, Great Location, Great Entertainment, Great Place for dinner before a long flight, Close to the Airport: all in one! I had the whole fish as recommended by other reviews: Best Choice but note that it takes 45 minutes to prepare. I read the other reviews about Cash Only and low exchange rate so I set my expectations accordingly and was not surprised. Really nice view of Lake Victoria if you sit outside. Clean bathrooms in building across the street. Place for your luggage if you stop on the way to the airport. Would definitely go back!
Daniel K — Google review
Wonderful spot to enjoy the lake view after a long day. Their whole grilled fish is something you do not want to miss. It is good for two persons, but hey, it is so succulent that one can finish it. Slow service, but with the relaxing breeze and freshly squeezed fruit juice, the hour long waiting was okay. Price wise, 3 person's dinner about 65$ all in. The darkness and the insect were the elements that ruined the charm of the place. Try to go to the place late afternoon till sunset
BEN J — Google review
Food was ok and the performance was nice BUT I had a TERRIBLE experience regarding the payment. They didn't have card machine so I had to pay with cash - i told the waiter that I'm paying with dollars. GUESS WHAT? He applied the dollar rate of 3000. To add on that his attitude was so rude enough to ruin the whole experience. Better put more effort on educating the staffs on morals

5-star experience at Gorret's Pizzaria! The roasted fish is hands down the best - my sister and I crave it every time we visit! The flavors are on point, and the service is always top-notch. Can't wait to go back and indulge in our favorite dish again!

Goretti's is a quaint little place along Lake Victoria; the food is great, the view is amazing, the locals love the whole fish, the expats love quiet dinners here, and the tourists love pizza and beer.. i love it all, especially the random Burundian dance nights. It's exceptional, great job to the team.

The best brick-oven Italian Pizza in Uganda this place has. I've been coming here with my daughter for 14 years and we can't get enough of the damn Pizza with the great breeze from the lake. Come here on Friday or Saturday and you get great cultural performances from Uganda and Rwanda. However, don't expect first-class customer service: they are slow and sometimes will smile but they get you what you need for the prices on the menu.

Probably the best pizza in Entebbe. I've visited this place a couple of times and always end up ordering pizza. Decent prices for a good experience, and good food. They do not accept any cards for payments, but do cater for different currencies.

What surprised me most was the goat, it ended up being the best on the plate. Even Nakato agreed with me on that, and we both left full and happy, already saying we’ll come back again.

Nice place. The restaurant is divided into several different areas. There are many Indians and expats among the visitors. Indian, Thai, Mexican cuisine. The signature burger was very good. Cafe Javas in Entebbe, nestled within Victoria Mall, delivers a diverse menu full of hearty burgers, pastas, curries, and irresistible desserts like Black Forest cake and unique ice cream creations, making it a popular family-friendly spot. Arrived Saturday, full of people. Like full full of people. I most say, this place knows how to handle a Cafe and restaurant. Super food, no delay and super service with friendly staff. And it was total full of customers. I have newer seen a cafe operating this professional. We were served as we were the only customers in the cafe. Who ever organised this please -- well done 👍

we have been visiting this restaurant for years and as time passes the management has developed a "take it or leave it" attitude and will alienate long-time customers over tiny amounts of money. on a recent visit after telling the waitress twice exactly what we wanted, she still brought the incorrect order and then copped an attitude when we complained. we will not return again soon as prices continue to go up and service is 'hit or miss'. right next door to Javas is a restaurant that recently opened up named Nepalaya and it has similar dishes for 20% less with more friendly management. Javas has lost a loyal customer but we are sure they do not care

This is like the perfect hangout spot. Depending on what time you go, it’s nice and mellow not crowded and then on the weekends it gets popping and fun with a chill crowd.

Outlaws is a fantastic place that brings together sports lovers and the those who just loves to hangout, have a couple of bears, wines or drinks with grills all in one place without one causing problem for the others interests. Ample secure parking and the staff and management are very attentive to details.

The place is okay, there are few people so I recommend it for those who don't like big crowds. They also have nice pool tables(3)

This is a noisey place and simply disrupts the peace of community. Hopefully they can regulate their sound and volume so qe are not subjected to their loud music.

Worst bar I have ever been to. Not worth one star. Wait staff hopeless, manager more than useless. Never, ever go here.
