Water & Amusement Parks
Valley of Waves is a top-notch water park located within Sun City Resort in South Africa. It features a lazy river, thrilling slides, a wave pool, and a dedicated children's area with attentive lifeguards. Staying at one of the four Sun International hotels inside the complex grants access to this exciting waterpark as well as covers the resort entrance fee. The options for accommodation range from the value-for-money Cabanas Hotel to the luxurious Palace of the Lost City.
Amazing calm place with beautiful music to spend the day with family or friends.Very safe, clean and well managed and taken care of.You get free access when you are booked in one of the hotels inside suncity, there is also loads of activity to do there for kids and adults.Buses run throughout the day transporting guests from hotels to attraction places and activities.Looking forward to my next visit to SA.

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the Valley of Waves at Sun City and happily give it five stars. The atmosphere is vibrant and relaxing, with a perfect mix of fun, excitement, and a tropical beach feel right in the heart of the resort. The wave pool is absolutely thrilling and makes you feel like you’re by the ocean, while the slides and rides cater for both adrenaline seekers and families. The area is clean, well-maintained, and surrounded by stunning scenery, which makes it a great spot to spend the whole day. Service and facilities were excellent, adding to the overall experience. A must-visit for anyone going to Sun City!

This place is nice and beautifully. You can enjoy the place with kids and family. At Valley of waves you can do a lot of aqua activities such as sliding, tube, lazy river🤗 You can have your snacks. You must go early so you can enjoy until 5pm. I recommend.

From entering Sun City resort we've experienced a warm and kind welcome. Preparing our own food at our unit at the vacation club to going to the valley of the waves, walking through the maze and reach the roof bar with spectacular views and enjoying a lovely sundowner, to playing ten pin bowling and just chilling at the Gary Player Golf club restaurant and enjoying a coffee with blue crane 396 come flipping its wings right in front of us, it was a very memorable time with family and friends here. Most definitely one of my wow moments here. Thank you to all the friendly staff amd to all the bus drivers that took us to and fro and never complaining to drive the same route day in and out. You do deserve an extra star for keeping the good work up.

This place is incredible! Beautifully set up with a real tropical holiday vibe — palm trees, sandy beach, and those amazing waves in the Roaring Lagoon! The slides and lazy river keep the kids busy for hours, while adults can relax and enjoy the atmosphere. A fantastic family day out. Highly recommended!

Valley of Waves was breath taking, as a first timer. The Security and Lifeguards all very friendly and polite. My kids had a blast in the water and sun. It’s very clean and the water is very clean as well. My kids enjoyed the super tubes the line wasn’t long when we were there. Thank you, Vally of Waves, for the experience.

Had my mom's birthday at the Valley of the Waves. The whole family loved the experience and we will carry the memories for a lifetime. It did rain but we were able to wait it out by dining in the EC areas.

Casino
Casino Sun City is a popular spot for entertainment, open every day of the year. The casino offers table games from early afternoon until the early hours of the morning, with a preference for business casual attire. Visitors have found the staff to be friendly and accommodating, creating a cozy and enjoyable atmosphere. Additionally, they appreciate that Covid-19 regulations are being followed.
Great place super friendly staff
Peter A — Google review
In order to gamble here you have to sign up to the MVG programme in which they give you a physical card to put into their machines before you can gamble. You can’t just use cash like normal casinos. When we got there we were told you stand in a queue where one person was registering one person at a time. It requires your passport and a full application to be filled out. We stood for about 20 minutes for only two people to be signed up and there was another 4 in front of us So we walked out instead. We triple checked with other staff too, there was no other way to gamble otherwise. It’s a weird way to encourage people to come and spend money at the casino when they make it so difficult to do so. Very poor.

To be honest - it has zero athmosphere and class and there are only a couple of tables which are not slot Machines. Personnel is unfriendly and it Is really not a spot to be at.

I am not certain why, but there was no working aircon in the casino when I was here on 7-9 February 2025 when it was 34 degrees outside! The smoking area was the worst! We could hardly breathe there. It was SO hot and there was nowhere for all the smoke to go. It was very poorly ventilated. It was very unpleasant on the casino floor becauss it was so hot....😧

The Entrance to the Maze of the Lost City at Sun City is an underrated but well-built challenge that takes at least 20 minutes to complete. Upon reaching the end, visitors are rewarded with complimentary drinks and a fantastic view across Sun City and of the Palace from the upstairs bar. It's a great activity for families, with a quick exit available for those who may feel overwhelmed. The bar at the end offers a wide variety of beers, making it a great reward after completing the maze.
Sun City is a city you cant forget in a heartbeat, its a world within a #city filled with adventure, quests, fun... very intriging!!! There is a lot to see, eat and do from golfing to hiking to safari to gambling to restaurants to opera to theatre to shopping there is something for everyone! I'm super scared of heights but I decided to take a bold step and face my fear, I went on the swing bridge...it wasn't easy but a went all the way. You are surrounded by rocks, rusty serene, flowers, brown earth, trees in a nutshell nature at it's best. The swing is very safe, you won't fall... at the end of the maze you will be rewarded with beer tasting and cool nuts! This is an adventure you wanna embark on, you won't forget it in a heartbeat! I recommend Sun City for your next trip! Life is fun!!! Enjoy every bit of it 😎😎
Funke G — Google review
The maze is a really underrated part of Sun City. It’s built extremely well and poses a real challenge! You should expect to take at least 20 minutes to get through it. However, it’s very rewarding to get to the end and get your complimentary drinks. If you sit upstairs at the bar, there is a fantastic view across Sun City and of the Palace. Definitely recommend!
Christopher F — Google review
This was really a fun activity. We were actually lost in the maze at first, but we found our way after the second attempt 🤣. It was so much fun that we will definitely do it again!
Hashtagmystore E — Google review
Great activity for the entire family. If you get overwhelmed and can't find your way out there is a quick exit. The bar at the end of the maze is a great reward. The bar offers a wide variety of beers, the beer tasting is a good option. Will recommend that this activity be done early morning or later afternoon as there is no shade in the maze itself.
Ivan W — Google review
Had a lot of fun in the maze. It's amazing how you can laugh with strangers in there. Afterwards, we cheated and chose the quick route to finish the maze, too frustrating trying to find the right way. At the end of the maze was beer tasting. Great view of Sun City from there. I can imagine this could be a good venue for special occasions done the seating areas are covered.
Aggie V — Google review
Although the are many benefits to going to Sun City when it's off peak. The maze would have been more fun had there been more people around. The bar was empty but definitely with the right crowd could have been amazing. Beautiful view from above the bar. The beer tasting at the end of the maze was a lovely treat.
Marsh M — Google review
Give it a skip. Nothing interesting to be honest. To begin with there’s a wooden see through bridge that you need to cross to reach the entrance of the maze. Secondly the maze is located on the top of the hill so you need to walk some steep slopes and once you reach the spot... all you want is some good adventure. But it disappoints. The maze is not that confusing put it simply. You have to get yourself lost and that’s how you feel some excitement. At the end there’s a restaurant which again is not the exit. The entrance and exit are at the same place. Not worth it in my view
Prasad ( — Google review
I bit Pricey just to go walk in a maze that only took 3 mins to get through. Then having to pay R50 for a beer at the end.

The Gary Player Golf Course and Country Club offers a well-equipped gym with stunning views of the golf course and mountains, making it worth the visit. The health spa and gymnasium provide a relaxing experience, including full-body massages with hot stones. The well-maintained golf course is accommodating to mid to high handicapped golfers of all ages, making it a recommended destination for avid golfers. Additionally, the clubhouse offers decent food in a world-class setting.
Was staying at the main hotel and needed a place to workout. Walked across to the gym at the country club. It is TOTALY worth the R80.00 a day price tag. Well equipped and very well kept! Lots of areas to catch your bread and take in the golf course and mountain views. Recommended 100x over.
Buyisiwe V — Google review
As always this place is spectacular, after huge amounts of rain the course was immaculate, albeit very challenging. We played both golf courses but Gary Player Country Club remains one of my favorite courses and had the privilege of playing a few holes with the legend himself, Gary Player...almost 90 years old but still as fit as ever.
Mark R — Google review
Probably the toughest course I’ve ever played but enjoyed every moment of it. My caddy, Budha was amazing as he knew the ins and outs of the course whilst being a legendary ball finder, being able to find my ball in the thick rough. The course provides a plethora of shot types to play whilst also having lots of risk management. The scenery of the lake was also beautiful alongside the high hills. There were also a lot of local flora and fauna making this not only fun to play, but fun to relax in the scenery.
Cheezo — Google review
It was the best experience playing where the greatest golfers walked. It was humbling walking over all the names on the 9th hole and playing and putting where they won big money.

The Lost City Golf Course in South Africa is known for its brilliant views and challenging round of golf. The fairways and greens are pristine, but the bunkers can be quite challenging. It's essential to book in advance due to its popularity. The course features different types of hazards that make for a unique and enjoyable experience, with some players even encountering crocodiles on the course.
I recently had the opportunity to play at the Lost City Golf Course in Sun City, and I was blown away by the experience! As a beginner, I was a bit nervous, but the course was more forgiving than I expected. The scenery is breathtaking, with stunning views of the African bushveld. The course is well-marked, making it easy to navigate, even for a newcomer like me. The staff were friendly and helpful. I was accompanied by people offering valuable tips and advice to help me improve my game. The facilities, including the clubhouse and pro shop, were top-notch. Sun City is a gem. There's plenty of activities to do around like the Valley of the waves, which is a family activity. So after playing golf the family can do other activities. The course offers plenty of opportunities for beginners to learn and improve. Overall, I'd give the Lost City Golf Course 5 out of 5 stars. It's a fantastic destination for golfers of all levels, including beginners. The scenic views, friendly staff, and forgiving course make it an ideal spot to learn and enjoy the game.
Leonard M — Google review
A very challenging but absolutely stunning and beautiful course. Highly recommended to get out and enjoy a world class golf course where the wildlife are at home to roam around. The views are spectacular and each hole is carefully carved out of the beautiful landscape. I recommend taking some extra balls and a caddie who can assist in finding some those stray tee shots.
Rodger B — Google review
The golf course offers a truly stunning experience, with its fairways being one of the standout features. Lush, well-maintained grass stretches out smoothly, providing an inviting path for players. The vibrant greenery and carefully manicured landscape create a picturesque setting that enhances the overall enjoyment of the game. Each hole presents a unique challenge, while the beauty of the fairways adds to the serenity of the surroundings. Whether you're a seasoned golfer or a beginner, the breathtaking views make every swing feel special. Overall, it's a fantastic course that promises a memorable day on the green!
Lynn P — Google review
Very very very beautiful course with a distinct lost city theme. The holes were challenging and if we didn’t have the caddies, we wouldn’t have known how to play them. Also, be on the lookout for some crocodiles on hole 13 as it’s a sight to see!
Cheezo — Google review
Very nice course... Areas of improvement in my humble opinion is the staff is a little bit rude. The pro shop has very limited memorabilia. The food is average. Location, scenery and course conditions deserves a 5 star but your employees is leyting you down
Christo R — Google review
Great golf course . One definitely need to play Gary Player and Lost City if you visit Sun City.
Eddie B — Google review
Championship golf course, my daughter played in the Nomads SA Girls Rosebowl Champs 2024. Lots of tricky holes, bunkers and water features which make the course very beautiful indeed. I walked the full 18 holes with her and experienced some awesome views of the mountains and surrounding nature. Pro shop can at least employ another person to work there instead of just 1. Staff overall very helpful and friendly
Ashley B — Google review
Me and my friend took a walk to the golf course clubhouse for coffee. I don’t play golf but the layout of the course looked structured. Given that it’s winter the club has done a good job maintaining quality of the greens, which looked good. I really enjoyed my coffee and the blueberry sauce was just amazing.

Cannot wait to go back. Thank you Robert for playing so beautifully during our breakfast, you have a special place in our hearts.

The Palace of the Lost City is without doubt a very grand and impressive hotel – the scale and design are stunning and it certainly feels like somewhere special to stay. That said, for me it was a little on the impersonal side. Because the hotel is so big, every time we came back from being out we were asked if we were checking in, which got a bit repetitive and made it feel less personal. The staff did try to help most of the time, and there were some nice touches – we were given a complimentary bottle of prosecco, which was appreciated, and Lesley, who does the foot massages by the pool, was absolutely lovely. She really stood out as one of the highlights of the stay. On the flip side, there were a few things that could have been better. Our in-room TV still showed the bill of the previous guests, which was a bit odd. Breakfast, while offering lots of choice, felt busy and disorganised, which took away from the overall experience. We were also disappointed to find the famous erupting bridge closed for maintenance, something we weren’t told about in advance. Overall, it was an okay stay. The hotel is undeniably beautiful and worth seeing once, but for me it lacked that personal touch. I’d probably only return for a single night just to enjoy the grandeur again, or next time look at one of the smaller hotels in Sun City for a more personal and relaxed experience.

Easily the most beautiful hotel I've been to in the country and it rivals my international stays as well. The staff is extraordinary, maintaining a high standard of friendliness and always willing to help. The room was gorgeous and clean. They have a morning service to clean your room and a further evening service to clean your room as well. The breakfast buffet is still the greatest I've had ever. There's nothing that's not offered and the only gripe I have is that I can't have it everyday.
Leago T — Google review
A fabulous 5 star experience. The staff are friendly and attentive wherever you go in the palace. The buffet breakfast is delicious , one needs a minimum of an hour to enjoy it, outdoor seating is great for the view but the birds enjoying snacking off plates. Would highly recommend on mend for a weekend get away. The stay includes free entry into the Valley of the Waves
Marion K — Google review
The Palace of the Lost City is such an apt name for the hotel, as it holds all the majesty and grandeur of a palace. On arriving, one is immediately treated to an animal sculpture fountains at the center of the entrance to the opulent palace with tall towers. The entrance is nothing short of breathtaking with its animal murals and mosaic art. You are warmly welcomed with your choice of a welcome drink and refreshment towel. The walk to the room is next part of the experience. You are treated to the most scenic views with there being a literal small forest in the middle of the hotel accentuating the experience of a getaway from civilization. The rooms themsslf are great. I stayed in the superior luxury family room. It had ample space for my family. The furniture was beautiful and very comfortable. It had a nespresso machine with 6 complementary pods (replaced daily). The bathroom had both a shower and bath tub with lots of space fir a family of 4. Breakfast takes place in a very large area. While no halaal food is available there is amazing choice and variety in food even if going vegetarian. The breakfast is a masterclass in how a good breakfast is done. Finally, by choosing the palace to choose convenience as you get direct access to the valley of waves (please note while they say it's close be ready to decent hundreds of steps). Additionally, a free shuttle service is available to go anywhere on the resort. Will definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a memorable experience.

Crystal Court is a prestigious restaurant located in Sun City, offering a refined dining experience with breathtaking views. Exclusively available to guests of The Palace of the Lost City hotel, it provides lavish breakfast spreads and opulent dinners featuring diverse international dishes. The restaurant boasts a massive rock crystal chandelier suspended above the ground and overlooks a Bosendorfer piano once played by Liberace and Elton John.
We have travelled far and wide and experienced plenty of hotel breakfasts and right here is where you will find one of the best breakfasts. A wide variety to choose from and not just what you would find at a normal breakfast table but much more - a wide spread. Live piano musician. Amazing decor - bold and beautiful ornaments and plants. Outdoor seating is breathtaking surrounded by water features. Highly recommended - proudly South African.

The high tea at crystal court is beautiful and such a treat. The staff are attentive and pleasant. I mentioned to one of the ladies that we came to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday and they came singing with a slice of cake and a candle without me asking. This was such a personal and touching gesture. If you're in the area do treat yourself to a little piece of heaven

Everything was buffet style There wasn’t any bao buns. The rare beef was on a stale sweet macaron that was too hard to bite into. The sandwiches were dry, unappealing and there weren’t any crepes. There weren’t any tempura, cheesecakes or chocolate cakes. The Victorian sponge had fruit flies all over the strawberries. There were red velvet cupcakes AND a red velvet cake, I assume they were of the same batter to compensate for the other missing items. There weren’t any labels on the food if we had food allergies or restrictions. Nobody explained to us the process upon arrival. The waiter said when we get up to go get our second course scones, then only will she bring us teas. When I asked for water and then later on milk, both times the waiter screams over to the other waiter in another language to bring it over. Not asking still or sparkling water or full or low fat milk The waiter asked if we done and can she bring the bill at 16:30, we hadn’t had our 3rd course yet.. Would not recommend, highly disappointed

The tea selection at high tea was very disappointing. I expected more from the palace. Cakes and pastries on the other hand were divine with plenty of options to choose from

After having breakfast at the Crystal Court restaurant, located in The Palace of The Lost City hotel, I have no other way of describing my experience than "opulent". The breakfast is served buffet style, with some items prepared on request, and almost everything thing you could think of was available. The selection is massive and all items are fresh and tasty. There are seating options inside and outside, but we opted to sit outside as you have a lovely view of the beautiful garden and waterfall areas. The staff are also very friendly. As we stayed at The Palace our breakfast was included, but even if you aren't staying there it is worth a try, you won't be disappointed. Just careful for the birds - if you leave your plate unattended they'll be sure to grab something while you're not looking.

Good experience at Sun City! We stayed here for 2 nights and the rooms were clean amd well-maintained - although the elevators were under maintenance and only one was working, which wasn't ideal. The staff was very helpful and made our stay comfortable. The resort offers a huge number of activities, making it perfect for families. However, keep in mind that it's more suited for summer months - we visited in winter and found it a bit chilly for most of the water activities - which are the core of the resort. They have a nice shuttle service to take you around the resort, and it really does make it easy to get around. One thing to note for Muslim travelers: food options are limited to just two halal options - Nandos and an Indian restaurant. All other eateries are non-halal, so plan accordingly. Overall, a great stay, and I'd recommend Sun City to families and those looking for a fun resort experience.

This place feels like Fort Knox. After visiting numerous other resorts trying to get information about visiting the resort/casino is more painful than a root canal. Nobody answered the phone, the is a entry fee to the parking lot and the food ain't that great. One has to stand out in the weather to wait for the bus. No complimentary beverages. I think it's run like the ANC government.

Legends Restaurant in Sun City is a delightful fusion of modern chic and Mediterranean flair, offering an exceptional fine dining experience that pays tribute to the iconic figures who have graced this vibrant destination over the years. The restaurant's walls are adorned with memorabilia celebrating renowned singers and sports stars, creating a nostalgic ambiance. Guests can indulge in a trendy grill house menu featuring innovative takes on classic steaks, seafood, and burgers while enjoying an extensive drinks selection tailored to diverse palates.
We had an awesome dining experience. The singer dedicated a song for us which was really cool. Our waitress was attentive and provided excellent service. The food was really good and delicious. The atmosphere was also good. They tend to get really busy so rather book in advance for a table.
Hashtagmystore E — Google review
This is now the second time in three months I’ve walked out of Legends Statehouse thinking, “what a dump.” For a place that calls itself a steakhouse, they still don’t have steak knives - a basic essential. Our entire table ordered ribeyes medium rare at a premium price, and not a single one was cooked correctly. Several steaks were sent back, some more than once, and even after that, they couldn’t get it right. It’s shocking how little care goes into execution and customer experience. After giving them a second chance, I can confidently say there won’t be a third. Hugely disappointing.
Deron F — Google review
Do not eat steak here unless you want to fight with it! Sent ours back to the kitchen because we had to fight with it, it was so tough. Be safe and order the fillet as it was much better than the other cuts. Also they do not give steak knives to cut your steak, your have to struggle with something slightly sharper than a bread knife. The lamb shank was nice and fall of the bone tender. Was the one tasty dish of the night. So that was supper. The breakfast here are not bad at all and would gladly eat breakfast there again. Just nothing else.

After a day at Valley of Waves with my niece and nephew from China we were looking for and excellent meal and some good wine to end off the evening. We tried Legends at the Sun City Hotel and were very impressed. The food was really good, the waitress was attentive and the atmosphere was fantastic. My nephew had the T bone steak which was cooked to perfection. My niece had the lamb chops which were just a tiny hit tough but tasty none the less. I had the oxtail and mash which was very good although the darkened meat would suggest that it had been re cooked . Overall was so impressed that we went back a second night and it was equally good. I read the reviews afterwards and was surprised at the 3.7 rating out of 5 and the complaints of tough steak. It certainly wasn't our experience. Perhaps they have new owners ( not sure) or they have just improved and upped their game. We will certainly return here. The place was full on both nights ( Sat and Sunday) which is always a recommendation. Finally Sun City has a decent steak house. Squires Loft was a dump!

Even with delicious sauce, the stake is as hard as rock. Chips may be pre-made long time before serving. No crunch and hard to chew.

Good food and entertainment. Well worth it. We had a lovely time. I would just advise them to keep a standard cocktail menu and ensure all bar staff are equally skilled in making them.

I came here for dinner and had a good time. I would give the restaurant itself a 2 but because of the service and Clint - the performer - I really enjoyed the night so I'll go with a 3. We started with some wine and then had the Pan-Fried Calamari and Prawn and it was unfortunately very underwhelming. The prawns were ok but the starter didn't exactly come as described because there wasn't any chorizo, no butter bean mash, but instead had a sad side salad. For a main we shared the Lamb Shank and it was really good. The lamb literally fell off the bone but I felt like it was lacking a bit in flavor. The vegetables were really good though, they weren't too mushy. For dessert we had the Cheesecake (I'm not sure it was on the menu but it was recommended to us). The cheesecake wasn't the best either, not creamy at all but was instead crumbly. Despite the subpar meal, the service was good and Clint was such a nice guy! Clint had come around at the end of the night and was super nice and sociable. I wouldn't come back for the food but I would definitely come back for the entertainment!

I really have mixed feelings… definitely not a place to go if you want veg variety but if you a meat lover you will be delighted. Service was good, despite the lack of option the veg food was ok

The food is excellent and great service but the fear of birds get to me

It was the worst experience of my first visit to Sun City. Firstly the food was terrible. No variety but its a buffet, the food didn't tastes great at all. At some of the food stations there was no lighting so you can't even see whats in the dish. Then there was the bad service. There was no waitress to take our order for drinks, it took 20 minutes for us to get drinks and the waitress did not even bother to clear out table. Food and service.... Terrible. Never again.
