Grocery store
Castries Market is a vibrant hub of activity, open from Monday to Saturday. It's the perfect place to immerse yourself in Lucian culture and stock up on groceries while browsing through an array of local produce and handmade crafts. Established in 1894, this market offers an authentic experience where you can interact with locals and find unique souvenirs such as spices, seasonings, indigenous art, and fresh fruits and vegetables.
Lively place. Restroom costs a dollar! Possibly bring your own T.P. nice vendors, not overly aggressive, but of course they invite you to look at their stock. . Lots of souvenir options. Local fruit selection is fantastic.
Jeff S — Google review
Market sits on waterfront, nice view of the ship, good selection of local fruit for fair price. They sell in dollars and in cash so it's easier for us when we only have small change. Nice friendly merchants, market not too busy, food stalls opens every other door with small menus, mainly for locals, not for tourists, bathrooms is clean, no cost, we bought some fruits to taste and a few souvenir items for very little price. You just gotta know how to bargain.
Chanbo K — Google review
You have got to use this great bar. Very friendly local people who help with any information you need to know. Variety owner is a great guy and excellent beers and staff
Derek C — Google review
Lovely local market, with several stalls where the locals sell their products. My favourite is the fruit stalls with diverse types. Ideal place to find local and traditional products. Highly recommended.
Sónia M — Google review
Enjoyed stopping here. Lots of locals selling and had a great atmosphere. Went when there were quite a few cruise ships in but didn’t feel too crowded. Went at 11:00 and was still going strong. Lots of repeated produce and touristy things, but loved the food stuff. Look around as different prices on every stall. Great stimulus for a toddler!
Hannah B — Google review
Nice enough place. Lots of stuff to buy for tourists, not much fun for kids.
Nipam P — Google review
Strolled around here for breakfast and shopping. Got some bake and fish and it was delicious. Just for 5 Caribbean dollars for 3 of us. Had a good time. For shopping prices were way inflated. Got some nice bracelets, hot sauce and local spices.
Mahima S — Google review
Great place to interact with the locals. Guavas, mangoes, Coconuts, bananas etc. fresh and just off the farm. Enjoyed the most delicious fruit breakfast and only £2! I am visiting Creole Kitchen again to taste their delicious food! A bottle of pure fresh natural Guava juice for Rs: 100

Beach
Nature & Parks
Vigie Beach is a serene sandy stretch nestled in a tranquil bay, offering a laid-back atmosphere and various amenities. Located just 10 minutes from the airport, it's an ideal spot to unwind before catching your flight. The beach features snack vendors, bars, and opportunities for plane-spotting. With its proximity to George F.L. Charles Airport and Pointe Seraphine, accessibility is convenient for visitors.
The eastern part of the beach near airport is great. There is a bar with decent quantity of rental beach beds and Very few people around. You can park and sit in the shade of trees if you prefer. And you can observe airplanes landing and taking off from airport next to the beach - use flightradar to get times of take offs. Or rent a horse and ride on the beach..
Milos B — Google review
Quite long stretch of white sand, loads of space. The left hand side, more close to the airport, it gave me the impression that is more visited by the locals, doing picnics and hanging out. The right hand side by the guests of the resort. Recommended
Sónia M — Google review
Lovely spot, 3 areas along Beach with chair rentals. We are at the area with yellow umbrellas and what is loved was NO MUSIC! Just the sound of the ocean, what a relaxing spot! No personal boom boxes allowed! Really nice staff too! No

What a gorgeous beach in the heart of Castries town. Visit this beach for: 1) The magnificent views of Carribbean sea bordered by green mountains 2) To enjoy a beach with no crowd at all 3) No seaweeds on the beach 4) Great to swim and have fun on the airport entrance end 5) Delicious dinner and lunch options by the beach. 6) Beach chair and washrooms available for a nominal price.$1 for washroom and $7 for beach chair ( recommend haggling...we got the $15 one for $ 7)
Su C — Google review
Nice beach with natural shaded areas under trees.Directly beside airport so some occasional small aircraft noise. Sea may look calm but beware the waves can be deceptive and.completely catch you unaware and knock you off your feet. Almost lost the wrong half of my bikini! Great fun though with loads of adults behaving like kids. Not suitable for small children who just want to paddle. Few beach bars, horse riding close by and 10 mins taxi from cruise port.
Tracey H — Google review
Ok beach, close to ports. $10 taxi ride from further of 2 ports. $10 beach chair rental. Calm water today. Plenty of shade. $3 beers but only about 6 ounces. Sand is easy on the feet.
David S — Google review
Very quiet and not many people try to sell you anything. It was a long walk from the cruise port but very manageable as long as you don’t have any mobility issues.
Scott H — Google review
Beautiful Beach, 10 minutes drive distance from the cruises terminal, the taxi fare only cost $5.00. You must pay for nice spot and umbrella at the beach. Sunny beach and very clean. Highly recommended

Sights & Landmarks
The Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, also known as the Cathedral, is a stunning church completed in 1897 and declared sacred in 1931. It became a cathedral in 1957 when Castries Diocese was established. The interior features colorful paintings and large windows. Located in Castries, St. Lucia, it's recommended for visitors to take the time to see this beautiful church.
It the cathedral and a minor basilica. It is almost 125 years old and it is very big. I ust say this is the best colourful cathedrals i have seen in the Carribians. Vincent colours, but it is fading. It must have been a marvel to the eyes in its prime days. The alter is very unique in style and very welcoming community here.
Stanly P — Google review
The interior ceiling of this church is quite impressive in both construction and design. It's not huge but given the population size of the island, it's quite something
Guy B — Google review
A very interesting exterior and even more remarkable interior with Belle Epoque metal work instead of lumber or cement trusses and arches. Very welcoming feeling. Plenty of fans and ventilation.
Richard G — Google review
The pictures of the tree because it is said to be 400 years old. The church is only 125 years old but one of the older ones in the caribbean.
Scott H — Google review
A colourful and peaceful basilica in the heart of Castries. Look for the unique painting and the huge indoors.
Su C — Google review
Walking distance from the Castries terminal in Carrier. Nice church with a mix of wood and concrete interior. There is also a nice park right outside where events are hosted.
Sebastian N — Google review
I cannot believe that i visited St Lucia so many times and missed this beautiful spot. Now one of my favorite places. A wonderfully calm oasis in the midst of a hectic town. A beautiful building.
Michelle W — Google review
The Minor Basilica church is beautiful inside and out, if you are ever on the island Castries St. Lucia I recommend you take the time to see this stunning church. There's a park across the street with grass and several benches . There is a very old tree in the park lots of beautiful flowers. The park was named after Derek Walcott he was commemorated the award of Nobel prize for literature in 1992. He was born in St Lucia.

Bodies of Water
Marigot Bay, known for its appearance in the 1967 film "Dr. Dolittle," is a charming harbor with resorts, restaurants, and opportunities for kayaking. The bay is famous for its yacht-spotting, surrounded by vibrant waters and lush mountainsides. The marina village offers upscale bars, restaurants, and shopping outlets along with a small beach perfect for sunbathing and swimming. This picturesque location has also been featured in other films like "Firepower."
Marigot Bay has been made famous by numerous movies e.g. Doolittle’s using it as a backdrop. It is a sheltered cove with beautiful scenery. We enjoyed our traditional coconut rum and the maritime atmosphere. Boats come and go. What a lovely spot.
Repi N — Google review
One of the most Beautiful Enchanting places. We feel so lucky to have spent some time here whilst away in Saint Lucia. Truly a treasure with lots of little quaint shops and restaurants. Also home to the famous Doolittle resort and restaurant.

Marigot Bay, St Lucia. Always has been and always will be the most beautiful bay in the Caribbean. Every day we look out at those views we think how lucky we are to have a place here !
Dave G — Google review
One of the most beautiful bays to visit with a pleasure craft in the Caribbean. A nice little beach that has post card picture quality. It very sheltered so that mooring buoy / anchor is quiet and calm. Decent restaurants are available, too.
Carsten S — Google review
Love it, great spot to chill. If you don't want to mess with the vendors then go to Doolittles, grab some drinks, and then you can use their beach area. Vendors are interesting people though, get yourself a Coco-Loco and a carved turtle from John.
JW D — Google review
Nice bay with resorts, restaurants and the famous Dr Doolittle's coffee. There's a free boat to access there. Very peaceful and calm, there's also a nice little beach to hang out.
Luislukas — Google review
Absolutely wonderful resort. The bungalows are tidy and beautiful, colonial decoration. The bars and restaurants are out of this world and the quality of the services are outstanding. The pools and the private beach accessible by free ferry are stunning. If I had to mention one thing though it would be to not be in a rush when ordering food and drinks as it might take some time but, there’s no rush when we are in holiday. The staff was very friendly and I can’t wait to come back again. Thank you so much

Seafood restaurant
The Coal Pot Restaurant is a beloved family-owned establishment located in Castries, St. Lucia, overlooking the Vigie marina. The restaurant's name pays homage to traditional island cooking methods and specializes in delectable seafood dishes such as St. Lucian crab back and saltfish with green fig, along with steaks, poultry, salads, and soups. The French chef at the helm has earned the nickname 'Chef LA' and ensures that guests enjoy a gastronomic experience.
Had the Dorado with garlic butter sauce and it was amazing. The fish was fresh, tender, and full of flavor with perfect sides. Beautiful waterfront setting with warm lighting and a peaceful breeze. Service was friendly, attentive, and made the evening feel special. 100% recommend The Coal Pot, it’s a must visit.
Kiana D — Google review
The atmosphere was nice. I enjoyed the setting that was created, similar to a Bali inspired theme. The food was also decent. Not amazing, but still enjoyable. I was a bit let down by the level of service and also having some dirty utensils. As a visitor to St. Lucia, I was expecting more, based on feedback from the locals.
Brett S — Google review
The Coal Pot is a great option if you’re looking for a place to eat in Castries. It’s located near George F. L. Charles Airport and Vigie Beach, with a beautiful waterside/marina view. The open, terrace-style seating makes it feel airy and relaxed, and you can really enjoy both the food and the scenery. A lovely spot to unwind.
Francine L — Google review
Sketchy road coming in but wow! Delicious food and beautiful restaurant. We reserved a waterfront table. I got the tuna and I have dietary restrictions so no butter and no oil and they managed to grill the tuna and use lemon instead!! I thought that was so creative because it tasted sooo good. The Dorado was also super good! There are mosquitos and I denied the bug spray offered because of the smell but I did wake up the next morning with a lot of bug bites, my fault, so use it. The water is gorgeous and there’s a turtle who likes to visit. You can also see crabs. Very dim lighting. Overall recommend trying this restaurant!
Ginny R — Google review
So my wife and I had asked the locals which is the best restaurant to go to with food that really pleases the palette and in similar reactions, 90% of them said that we must go to “Coal Pot”. Scratching our heads, the name didn’t sound like a place that would serve good food, but we took the 30 minute journey south along the coast of Saint Lucia to look for this highly recommend restaurant. Upon completing and devouring our food, the wife and I were blessed to have come to such a fabulous family owned and run establishment that leaves your mouth watering for more good food. The son, who is the chef, was fantastic and knows about fine cuisine and definitely hits the mark for realty pleasing the palette. I as well will highly recommend this place for travelers whether by air or sea, definitely come find this spot for some very tasty, and I mean, really tasty food!!!!
Humphrey V — Google review
I can't believe how beautiful this restaurant was the pictures does that does it justice the atmosphere is so calm and soothing the decor is very eclectic everything has its own little meaning and purpose The staff was very helpful In there recommendation of what to choose the menu. I highly recommend for going to the Coal Pot

Chateau Mygo House of Seafood is a local restaurant located waterside in Marigot Bay. His cuisine is an exotic fusion of East Indian and Creole cooking. The service is good, the salad with a tasty vinaigrette was a highlight, and the shrimp and ribs were overpriced but very big and tender. The ribs were very tender and had a good sauce, but only got 5 of them.
The Place was extremely clean and the drinks were superb. The beef in the beef Roti was soo soft and tender and flavourful. This is the best Mango chutney that I have ever had on top of that roti. The waitress was really good and she was quick!!
Foodie P — Google review
A quaint restaurant in the waters edge in the Marigot marina. Exceptionally good views. Tasty and good food variety options. The staff are warm and freindly and the drink cocktails are excellent.
Louis L — Google review
Staff was very unpleasant. I went to the bar on two occasions while I was waiting for my food and no one was at the bar to attend to me. The bartender was actually sitting on her phone at a table, I literally thought she was a guest. I explained to the server I have been waiting at the bar get drinks and there was no one to attend to me. The server also gave me attitude.
Chocolate E — Google review
Amazing experience @ Chateau Mygo House. The view is breathtaking and the service from Jahmile was exceptional! she made us feel at home. The fish was very fresh and tasty. The drinks were also very nice. Ild recommend the creole sauce on anything! Food would have been 5/5 if our fish roti came with fish - fish to potato was skewed. Heavy on the potato.
Lucy — Google review
Great breakfast served at 7AM daily. Night service is attentive, very fun atmosphere. Happy hour all night after 5pm. Right off a dock! We were returning guests during our time on Marigot Bay.
Suzy C — Google review
Service was good. The food could have been better. I had the plantain chips which were actually good and the acras which were a bit too oily for and lacked salt. But overall it was a nice experience. The waitress was super nice. The cocktails are amazing though
Trad B — Google review
Have been to Chateau Mygo House of Seaford twice and each time the food has been excellent. Set in a beautiful location on the water it is a gem of a restaurant with wonderful staff and an excellent choice of food especially if you like seafood. The last time I was there the Calamari was cooked to perfection complete with ample salad and fries. If you want that special occasion you cannot do better than visit this place.
Fefe Q — Google review
Beautiful setting, located on the waters edge at the stunning Marigot Bay. Service is wonderful with very engaging and friendly staff. The food could be better. I’ve tasted better shrimp pasta. But I would definitely be back to enjoy the bar and seaside ambience.

Nestled in the heart of Castries, St. Lucia, Pink Papaya is a charming restaurant that offers an intimate and romantic atmosphere. The menu features a delightful fusion of international and Caribbean cuisine, with each dish meticulously prepared and presented as a masterpiece. This gem of a restaurant is known for its personalized service, where friendly staff take the time to chat with guests, creating a welcoming and laid-back ambiance.
Local food and Great service! Don’t forget to taste the yellow hot sauce, just brilliant
Lange M — Google review
Lovely ambience in this restaurant. We had live music where a man sung and played the steel drum while we had our food served. We liked the fact that the restaurant offered both Caribbean and European dishes as I wanted a fried snapper and my husband wanted pizza so we were able to find a restaurant in the port that catered to both of our wants! Their homemade hot sauce is also diving!
Aleina A — Google review
Pink Papaya was so nice we went twice! If you’re in the Castries area or stopping by from a cruise, this is a great spot to eat. It’s located at Pointe Seraphine, right by the St. Lucia sign and the souvenir shops at the port. The food is delicious — the complimentary salad and lentils are a great touch — and everything felt fresh and well-prepared. The atmosphere is laid-back and outdoor, so don’t go expecting AC, but do expect great food, friendly service, and a welcoming island vibe. Highly recommend for anyone passing through Castries!
Francine L — Google review
The food is good, nothing extraordinary. The drive could definitely improve. Good place for a relaxing lunch right in the center of the shopping area. There's free wifi, pizzas, beers, cocktails as well as pasta salad and entrees. Not too many options but good enough.
Mariana R — Google review
Located right in the port area. Serving local dishes and beer with live music. Good, friendly service and WiFi as well. Photo is of fried calamari and the tastiest pepperoni pizza ever washed down with a bucket of Carib beer. 5*.
Plain S — Google review
We enjoyed the food and drinks, what made it a superb experience was the singer / musician playing while we ate. Top quality, it was a pleasure listening to him.
V A — Google review
What a unique lunch experience. I had some delicious chicken with creole sauce, and my friend had the pizza. Both were exquisite and to top it off very friendly service and a live steel drum player. Even ended up sharing a drink with the owners which added a personal touch. They offered a coconut with rum drink which was the best cocktail I had in a long time.

Roots 2 is a top-rated restaurant located in Marigot Bay, St. Lucia, offering the best of St. Lucian cuisine with a focus on Caribbean seafood. The establishment has garnered praise for its delectable BBQ chicken, seafood, burgers, and pasta dishes. It is known for its breathtaking views and welcoming atmosphere for both adults and children. The restaurant's owners, Sue and Fluffy, are described as energetic and chatty with kids, creating a family-friendly environment.
If you are in St Lucia, a visit to this beautiful restaurant and bar is a must! The reviews speak for themselves - Fluffy and Sue are fantastic hosts, and instantly make you feel like family - we had their reggae chicken and it was the best meal we’ve had on the island in over a week - really delicious! The view is beautiful too, and it’s great value for money. We also happened to watch their episode of restaurants on the edge on Netflix - super interesting and definitely worth a watch before visiting, you’ll get a feel of the whole island and also a taste of the heart and spirit of the restaurant! Thanks so much for such a memorable evening - if we are ever on the island again we will definitely be back!
Elizabeth D — Google review
We had the chicken and the coconut shrimp. The shrimp was a hit for sure! One less star because the provisions came cold/lukewarm, and I'd like a fully hot meal. Drinks are limited but sufficient. Beautiful atmosphere and the view is lovely. There's no dedicated parking space, so you just park on the side of the road where it suits you. The opening hours on Google is not accurate. It's best to contact Sue to ask when they're open and to book. They cater for the number of people on the day to reduce food waste and to ensure everything is fresh. Definitely worth a visit!
Nina J — Google review
Roots 2 is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of the community, with a hillside view of the ocean and boats. Offering a taste of the Caribbean that's as authentic as it gets. From the moment you walk through the front, you're enveloped in the warm embrace of family vibes and the tantalizing aroma of spices wafting from the kitchen. The menu is a celebration of Caribbean cuisine, featuring a vibrant mix of flavors and textures that cater to all dietary preferences. Whether you're a meat lover, vegetarian, or vegan, there's something here to tempt your taste buds. From jerk chicken bursting with fiery flavor to comforting coconut curry loaded with fresh vegetables, each dish is made to order with the utmost care and attention to detail. But what truly sets Roots 2 apart is the unmistakable taste of home cooking infused into every bite. It's like being transported to a family kitchen in the Caribbean, where recipes are passed down from the one of the owner’s (Fluffy) mother and every meal is made with love. The staff treat you like kin. Definitely a must if you’re in St. Lucia. Call ahead and make a reservation.

My partner and I had a delicious meal here! We enjoyed every bite of the chicken and the fresh sides. Fluffy and Sue are such a sweet couple and really make you feel at home. Sue even offered us advice about what to see in our remaining time on the island. She connected us with a taxi driver and followed up to make sure we were all set! It was so kind of her to go out of her way to help us. Would highly recommend the Roots experience!
Olivia B — Google review
The food was amazing and the owners were so sweet and accommodating to our family. I highly recommend visiting. P.S. the rum punch is SO good!
Trineka M — Google review
If you are in the Marigot Bay area and don't eat at Roots 2, you should tear up your passport and never travel again. You have to make a reservation and order in advance. Your choices are fish or chicken and the menu depends on what's fresh that day. We both had the fish, as the chicken on the island has been fair at best. The fish was spectacular. The entire plate was spectacular. This is a can't miss experience that's nothing like sitting in a fancy resort restaurant but with food that's far better.
Andrew T — Google review
Been here for 8 days and will say this was the best meal we’ve had on the island! Reservations are a must and you must order in advance. Once it’s gone, it’s gone. Ms Sue is so warm and accommodating. She managed a to go order for us after our meal but she made an exception to make this happen. Let’s talk the food tho…ooooh weee! Get the reggae chicken. It was phenomenal! The curry chicken was also amazing. Wish we’d found this place when we arrived. You will not be disappointed. I need more than 5 stars to give Roots 2👊🏾. Telling everyone in the states about Roots 2.

What an experience. Me and the family have been visiting family over in St Lucia and my partner found roots via TripAdvisor. It was her 30th and when I spoke to Sue she went above and beyond to help and ensure we were well looked after! The food, OUTSTANDING rustic, fresh, earthy and pure Lucian home cooked food can’t speak highly enough about roots and Sue and Fluffys hospitality. If you’re in St Lucia, it’s a MUST. It offers a simple and modern dining experience with locally-caught seafood or meat grilled to perfection. Dishes include shrimp in coconut curry, curried goat, pork chops, and green fig pie made from green bananas. The restaurant also features live jazz every Friday night and serves delicious banana daiquiris.
We had the best dinner! So good we went back the next night. Fresh fish. Local sides. Service was impeccable. Earlina was a fantastic waitress. The entire staff helped take our picture to make sure it was right. Great music. Really a lovely place.

What a great experience we had at Flavours of the Grill. From the moment we were warmly greeted by the Hostess, to the excellent service we had from Nesa, our server, and the fabulous food we consumed, we could not have been more pleased. The restaurant is spotlessly clean and warmly decorated. The food was FLAVOURFUL and cooked perfectly. There is nothing we could have wanted differently. We will be back. Thank you to the owners and staff for making our night perfect.

As a returning customer for 5 years I expect better. KNOW YOUR CUSTOMERS! I celebrate my birthday at this restaurant every year sometimes twice in one month. This is the only restaurant I eat at. I had a reservation for my birthday and I always indicate that it is and there's was no record of it when I came everyone else's was acknowledged their chairs were decorated, sang HBD, got complimentary desert etc. The staff are familiar with us when we come in and should've at least asked to make sure whether it was my birthday or not. This isn't the first time I remember it happened before and a waitress was kind enough to ask if it's my birthday and offered me complimentary cake. I always recommend this restaurant and I book group reservations and my family and friends go there all the time. I was very disappointed to see that no one asked and after we paid the bill it didn't make sense to mention it so we left it be. I know if Sasha the supervisor was present she would've known and make it happen, she always gives excellent service from day one.

Great location, and they had live music last night. The singer was awesome and the ambiance was amazing! The staff were impeccably professional and caring, pleasant and courteous, from the moment I walked in. Shonnon was designated to my table and she made sure I enjoyed my experience. She carefully explained the food preparation and ensured my dinner was memorable last evening. Im grateful for Shonnon and the staff, they helped to make my trip to St. Lucia quite memorable. I would definitely recommend this restaurant -- excellent location, ambiance, and food!

To be honest I was a little hesitant to go here after reading some of the reviews. But after talking to some locals I decided to give it a try and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The place was hopping, the music jiving, and the food and drinks were tasty. We went on Friday and the menu was all grilled. I chose the grilled pork chop and three sides—-mashed potatoes, creamy mac & cheese, spicy noodles. My pork chop was big and grilled well (and the sauce with it balanced perfectly) and the Mac and cheese was spot on! I also have to give a huge shout out to Jessy, our server, who was polite, attentive, and sweet. As to some who said the service was slow in their reviews, maybe for them it was, but you’re on an island and I went in thinking island time and left pleasantly surprised!
Maurice A — Google review
What a great place. Felt amazing to have home cooked bbq food (I had the bbq chicken, wife had the grilled fish). Comes with salad (banana) and other veg, all was faultless. It is wonderful to have some home cooked food, as being stuck in a resort nearby, it's great to go for a walk and a grab lunch. Waiters and staff were very friendly. Before you leave, make sure you have the creme caramel, it was laced with rum and I think condensed milk - was absolutely phenomenal and topped with a couple of moreno cherries. I will be coming back again, I am just sad that I can't come tomorrow as you are closed on Sunday - much deserved rest 😀. Keep up the great food!
