Queretaro City

Santiago de Querétaro is a city in central Mexico. It’s known for its well-preserved Spanish colonial architecture such as a striking pink stone aqueduct. Notable baroque buildings include Santa Rosa de Viterbo church. The nearby ochre San Francisco church is in Zenea Garden, the city’s main square. In the old church convent, the Querétaro Regional Museum displays pre-Hispanic, colonial and republican artifacts.

Specialty Museums
The Museo Regional de Querétaro is located in the historic Ex Convent of San Francisco, a 16th-century colonial convent that served as a significant center for evangelization. The museum features six exhibition rooms showcasing artifacts and items from archaeological sites in the area, including photographs, models, utensils, and vessels.
I recently visited the Regional Museum of Querétaro and was thoroughly impressed by the experience. The museum is housed in the historic Former Monastery of San Francisco, which adds a unique charm to the visit. The organization of the exhibits is very good, making it easy to follow the historical timeline and understand the context of each artifact. Here some highlights for me: 1. Archaeological and Historical Exhibits: The museum showcases a rich collection of artifacts, including sculptures, ceramics, weapons, paintings, and clothing from the Querétaro region. These exhibits provide a deep dive into the history and culture of the area, particularly focusing on the Otomi and Chichimeca ethnic groups. 2. Colonial and Independence Periods: The museum also highlights the multi-colored society of the viceregal period and the early independence period of Mexico. This section includes fascinating items from churches and monastery libraries, reflecting the social, economic, and political structures of the time. 3. Permanent and Temporary Galleries: The museum features seven permanent galleries and three temporary exhibition spaces, ensuring there is always something new to see. The quality of the exhibits is top-notch, with detailed descriptions and well-preserved artifacts. The museum is well-organized, with clear signage and informative displays that guide visitors through the various sections. The quality of the artifacts is exceptional, and the museum does a great job of preserving and presenting them in a way that is both educational and engaging. Overall, the Regional Museum of Querétaro is a must-visit for anyone interested in the rich history and culture of this region. The combination of its historic setting, well-curated exhibits, and high-quality artifacts makes it a standout attraction.

This museum is so interesting! In particular, it told a lot about the indigenous history of the region (something I haven’t seen in some other museums I visited in the area) and really enjoyed the exhibits on Mexican Independence and the Revolution. It only took us about an hour to go through the museum, but I easily could have spent a lot more time there—if you’re going to visit one museum in Querétaro, I’d recommend it be this one.

COST: 90 pesos WORTH IT RATING: 6/10 The actual building that this museum is in, is an old convent several hundred years old. The architecture and the inner courtyard with a fountain are stunning and the best part of the visit. You can capture beautiful photos here. The information in the museum is ALL in Spanish, and very information heavy. If you speak Spanish, and enjoy large blocks of text, then this could be an enjoyable experience for you. It would take several hours to go through the entire museum and read everything. If you are fine with just walking around and perusing the old artifacts, clothing, and paintings, it could also be somewhat interesting. I felt the museum had a lot of potential and a lot of interesting info that i would have liked to learn, but the large quantities of text in Spanish made it feel overwhelming and dissatisfying.

A really cool museum to visit guys! Only cost 85 pesos, spent almost 2 hours(like to take my time in museum) lot of things to read about the cultul and the history of Mexico. A must go if you come here to visit!! Enjoyyy

As for the restaurant, it's a nice place to relax. (Translated by Google) The Hill of Bells is often used for sweet 15 photos, weddings, etc. It's nice to walk around and look at the statue of Benito Juarez, but don't buy tickets for the museum. It's not worth it; most of the so-called interactive devices don't work. You just read a few slides and that's it. Entrance to the park costs $7 and the museum is $23. DO NOT PAY THE $23. Besides, they have clowns who don't let you bring anything in. They even stole a keychain I had in my bag, so why not buy toys? My fav museum in Queretaro. They have a few rooms displaying arts from different artists. Some are really amazing and unforgettable.

The museum was nice. Most of the exhibitions are contemporary. There is not much classic art. Admission is free. Staff are friendly. It is not a very big museum.

The Museum was once a cloister for St Agustin. It houses various temporary exhibitions, mainly from Mexican artists. And is worth visiting. The building itself is magnificent with XVIII Baroque architecture. The museum is free to access.
Carlos B — Google review
This majestic museum is free to enter. The building is wonderful and the sun lights up its orange walls. It had several exhibitions, all were well curated and beautifully displayed. This is a must see when in Queretaro
Graham S — Google review
This art museum is a gem of Querétaro. In addition to being free (there's not even a donation box and I have never been in any museum in any city without a donation box), it has a varied and interesting collection and is housed in an impressive architectural building which in itself is a work of art. Formerly the Augustinian monastery, the building is spacious and comfortable. The works are somewhat shockingly unprotected and virtually outdoors but I guess if your climate is arid enough this is fine? Anyway, worth a visit and worth your time.

Nestled just outside the bustling city center, Cervecería Hércules is a must-visit destination for beer enthusiasts and food lovers alike. This expansive brewery and food hall, set in a stunning venue reminiscent of Versailles, offers an inviting industrial outdoor space perfect for socializing. With its large courtyard filled with yard games and occasional live music, it's an ideal spot for families or groups to unwind together.
German style beer garden! Although the Bretzeln are not really authentic the beer is tasty. Different styles from Pilsner to Stout in acceptable sizes. Employees act fast and are attentive. I suggest the Haxe (Chamorro) feels little like Germany. Feels comfy in the afternoon so bring time!

Always a great place to relax and enjoy the beautiful weather Querétaro has to offer with a nice cold craft beer. Life doesn't get much better, that is, unless you get the pizza. Oh, and the German sausages go down very easy with those beers.

Food can improve, and I definitely could pass on it. It was very busy, so the staff did not come around often, and we had to flag them down, which seemed to bother them a bit. The beer was good, and they had a good selection.
Alejandra V — Google review
The food is just okay, but their beers and pizza are delicious. The service was spotty, but the place is huge, so probably lots of walk time from kitchen/bar to the tables. Check out the gift shop for t-shirts, stickers, and take-home beers. With all of that said, the atmosphere in the place is unmatched, especially at night. The most amazing ambiance that I've ever seen. 100% recommended!

Cafe
La Biznaga Arte y Café is a popular spot in the historic center of Queretaro, known for its delicious breakfast and diverse menu. The restaurant features a quirky interior with graffiti and various art pieces, creating a fun and funky atmosphere. It offers modern Mexican cuisine using fresh, local ingredients sourced from small producers, emphasizing sustainability. While the extensive menu may not initially seem to cater to vegan options, the attentive staff can accommodate special dietary preferences.
We visited this place on a Friday at 11 am and found a line to get seated, but we didn’t mind the wait. The atmosphere inside the restaurant reminded me of the famous ruin bars in Budapest; the design is extraordinary and even a bit bizarre, but in a fun and enjoyable way. Although there was another wait for the food, it was worth it because everything was delicious! Plus, the prices are super affordable. I’d definitely come again!

Oaxacan restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Queretaro, 'María y su Bici' has blossomed from a humble eatery into a beloved dining destination with multiple locations. This vibrant spot captures the essence of Oaxacan cuisine, offering an array of mouthwatering dishes like stuffed chile pasilla and crispy tlayudas, all served in a lively atmosphere that embodies the spirit of Mexico.
I visited Maria y su bici for dinner and I had a really good experience. Food was delicious, incredible service and great atmosphere (it feels like a small piece of Oaxaca/Yucatan). Definitely I’d go back to try Queso Relleno.

Just arrived to the city and the front desk clerk suggested this place. We try it out…. The menu was too funny and the drinks excellent… mesl id good but high in condiments please keep that in mind and you should have no problem at all .. enjoy
Luis P — Google review
This was one of the best meals I have had in Mexico to date! The portions were beyond generous (read: I did NOT finish my plate) and filled with flavours. The variety of Mezcal was pleasant and the taste sweet. The variety of deserts was equally quite surprising. I was told by my local friends that the food is traditional and one of the best available in the region and my taste buds have to agree. The service was equally respectful and worthy of a family venue. Above and beyond satisfied. The memories will stay with me for a long time!

What started out on a “sour note,” Google maps not cooperating and our arrival a bit cold; turned into a delightful evening of fabulous wine, the best pulpo and pizza straight out of Milan! We were a party of 4 and decided this would be our “last” night dinner. It was a great choice, the Lamb chops and the Pasta with clams were a huge success. The gracious owner/manager included a lemon cello to seal the deal!

This place is very pretty. We ordered vegetarian pizza. The pizza base was very Italian. It was soft in the middle and sides were crunchy. The green sauce on the base of pizza was giving a very spicy effect And I really liked it. The ambience of the restaurant was very comfy and natural. The service was good and the pizza was tasty. I really liked the place.

I would give this 4 stars but my husband felt it deserved only 2 stars. We were seated promptly and our orders were taken, I felt service was fine and my grilled Caesar Salad and octopus dish was delicious. Unfortunately my husbands ravioli was mediocre and cold, he felt that the service was concentrated on some other tables and they did not really acknowledge nor apologize for his cold food. The restaurant does had a very nice atmosphere.

We had a very nice dinner at Vino. The cream soup was very good, the salmon, and the lasagna, were all excellent. I enjoyed a Chardonney, and husband had Merlot. These were the "lower" priced wine by the glass options and were both excellent. The service was very attentive. We dined here on Sept. 15, when there was a lot of street activity due to Independence Day-eve celebrations, but inside was quiet and not crowded. All in all a very nice experience!
