Ocean Siren, also known as the Museum of Underwater Art (MOUA), is an innovative collection of underwater sculptures and artworks created by Jason deCaires Taylor. Located in Townsville, Australia, it is the first underwater museum in the country. The installation features a mesmerizing illuminated display that reflects the temperature of the ocean every 15 minutes, creating a stunning visual effect especially at night.
It looks pretty cool. Quite a lot of fishermen next to it who are fun to talk to

This is new to Townsville and a cool thing to see more so at night because she lights up. The board tells you what temp the ocean is and every 15mins she goes through the colour spectrum. We all thought she was lovely except half her face isn't lit, we thought was odd. Something different to visit along the strand

Museums
The Maritime Museum of Townsville, situated on Ross Street, offers a charming display of maritime history with an assorted collection of model ships, artifacts, and memorabilia. The museum showcases the region's marine heritage through exhibits like 'Queensland Coast' and the 'Fishing Hall of Fame,' which detail coastal trade development and fishing technology evolution. Following extensive refurbishment in 2001, the museum has become a focal point for community support.
I arrived just as they were about to close and the lovely ladies who worked there let me in for a quick look around. They hadn’t had a person through all day and they were still kind enough to allow me in but I didn’t stay long as I didn’t want to hold them up. Was just passing through so couldn’t return but will definitely make a point of visiting at a better time next time I’m there. Fantastic exhibits from what I saw and the staff there are amazing. Highly recommend.

A classic older style museum, dedicated to Navy, merchant navy, wharfs, and the people involved. Lots of reading information, lots, but also video. Good for kids, adults, and fossils. No (unusual) gift or snack bar. There are cafe and restaurants over the road. Great parking. Friendly for disability, frail , juniors.

Museum of model ships and maritime services ...very informative displays about seafarers life of yesteryears.. some of the mini ship models are incredibly detailed, excellent craft work and knowledge...Museum helped to improve my respect to all those seafarers who contributed to create this modern world. .... Cash only.

It was quite informative. I like reading about the WWII history and there is plenty of that here. The photo is a scale model of the USS Lexington which was sunk at the battle of the Coral Sea.

I would highly recommend to visit. Excellent. A great history lesson. My 9 young son absolutely enjoyed the visit . Did the kids quiz while looking and learning the history. The volunteers are great and knowledgeable. 10/10 well done

Nestled in the heart of Townsville, the Perc Tucker Regional Gallery is a must-visit for art enthusiasts and casual visitors alike. Established in 1981, this vibrant gallery celebrates local and regional talent through an impressive array of artworks that includes paintings, sculptures, and pottery. Housed within a charming heritage building on Flinders Street, it serves as the primary art venue in the area.
Perc Tucker is a great little gallery. 110% would recommend a visit. Definitely don’t miss the Wedgewood display while it’s on. It’s amazing.

Beautiful gallery, portrait paintings in presents exhibition are beautifully presented. Looking forward to next exhibition which will be ceramics. In a lovely old building, and don't forget to take lift up a floor as there's more to see.

We really enjoyed the wedgewood exhibition. Signage was easy to read, gallery staff very friendly and helpful. The gallery shop was a lovely surprise. Featuring local ceramic and textile artists, we felt the work was diverse, interesting and affordable.

Anna C — Google review
Visited this regional art gallery to view the Wedgewood exhibition. The exhibition was well curated and very interesting. I didnt realise the extent of the work done by Wedgewood. The support to end slavery by the company was also something we weren't aware. Lovely staff and volunteers. 4 stars given because cash was not available at the front desk. We later were told cash could have been used but had to be paid to manager and he would purchase tickets on visitors behalf. Cash is legal tender and why should it be clunky.

Situated at the Ogden Street's main Salt facility, this restaurant boasts a prime riverside location on the Ross River. Recently refurbished, it provides polished indoor and expansive outdoor seating areas for an enjoyable dining experience. The management ensures that guests receive excellent service and are knowledgeable about the diverse menu offerings and wine selection.
We are so happy to have finally tried this wonderful spot, recommended by a friend who works there. The quality is truly top-notch, and we were not disappointed at all. You'll experience excellent service, with attentive staff who go out of their way to ensure you have a fantastic evening. The quality of the dishes and the variety of flavors crafted by the chef will undoubtedly delight your taste buds. They were very mindful of our dietary preferences and allergies, suggesting the most suitable dishes for us. The atmosphere is intimate, and it feels so welcoming. Highly recommended!
Coralie — Google review
We dined here at A Touch of Salt while travelling in Townsville and it was the best meal we had during our trip. The food is fine dining style with small portions that are priced on the high end which are worth it for the amazing quality you get in return that will leave you wanting more! The service is friendly and helpful and the atmosphere along with the ambience of the restaurant is warm and inviting while modern. We tried the grilled focaccia, mushroom wontons, pumpkin porcini lasagne, market fish with butternut curry and two desserts: the apple crumble tart and salted coconut sago (which were both amazing!). The plant based/vegan menu options are also delicious and worth a try even if you aren’t vegetarian/vegan. The presentations of each dish were consistent and the flavours were flawlessly balanced with one another. All ingredients, including the market fish (coral trout) were cooked to perfection too. If you’re looking for top notch quality food in Townsville, you have to come here!

An evening of family reunion was the occasion. Cocktails were great. Food was not great but ok. Portions were too small, even for a fine dining restaurant. Desert menu was not very appealing & limited choices. Servicing was good.
Sagadai S — Google review
A touch of salt - a touch disappointing. Service: Immediately from sitting down, we were approached several times by different staff asking us what food we'd like to order prior to opening menus let alone ordering drinks. Service was plenty friendly though, just not that attentive. We'd mentioned in our notes that it was our anniversary, though this was not acknowledged in any way throughout the evening. Food: The cuttlefish ceviche itself was good but the assortment of awkwardly cut vegetables (and maybe coconut milk it sat in?) felt like a bit of a confusing arrangement. Pork belly was good, especially with the pineapple. Duck ramen had much more than a touch of salt, and we were unable to taste much else. Lamb was lovely, however the sauce seemed similar, if not possibly the same to the pork belly's sauce - which felt a little odd for such different meats. Overall, it did not feel like it was the special experience it should have been.
Romy — Google review
A Touch of Salt was great. I got a table straight away as a walk in for Friday lunch. It was fully booked for dinner the nights I was in Townsville. Its got a fine dining feel. Favourites were the mushoom + wakame wonton, spiced lamb (the carrots were amazing too) and dark chocolate bunido. The salted coconut sago is a little plain, so make sure to have some of the sorbet mixed in when you eat it. I'd come here again. Reservations recommended for dinner.

It was an amazing culinary experience. Your taste buds were dazzled by the different flavours. A truly delicious array of dishes served. An exceptional experience.
Margaret S — Google review
Overall we had a nice experiences but there were some frustrations. Luckily we were in the outdoor section because inside was very loud as we walked through. The patio area was lovely with a nice outlook. We had so many different waiters it was confusing. We were also given 2 sets of menus which we didn’t realize until it came time to order. One was an ‘older’ menu and both the items my daughter orders from it were no longer available which was frustrating. The water menu is interesting. You can’t get free tap water. The cheapest option is $5/head filters water and it goes up from there. Given the climate in Townsville, no water is not an option. The entrees were nice. We had the artichokes, dumplings and pork belly. Mains were not great. Pasta was good but the steak, though cooked well, was very under seasoned and chewy/fatty. Poor choice I guess but considering it’s one of the most expensive things in the menu and usually a safe option, it was very underwhelming. Having said all of this, I would give the restaurant a second chance if I was in town again.
Alan D — Google review
What a pleasant experience. The waitress knew the menu and recommended the fish which was sublime, perfectly cooked and seasoned, what a unique combination with the chestnuts. My dishes were beautifully presented. This is fine dining that’s definitely worth trying.

What a great find. A quite large restaurant in a restored historic building. Right on the corner at the start of Palmer St. The menu was awesome with lots of unusual ingredients put together. Very tasty! The service was first class too, almost silver service style. Not particularly cheap but so worth it. Do yourself a favour and make a booking now!

Our recent visit to **Jam Restaurant** in Townsville was nothing short of outstanding. From the moment we arrived, the warm and welcoming atmosphere set the tone for what would be a truly memorable dining experience. Attending with our 22-month-old son, we were particularly impressed by the staff’s attentiveness and understanding. Not only were they accommodating, but they also engaged with him in a way that made our evening even more enjoyable. Their professionalism and genuine hospitality ensured that our family felt completely at ease. The food was exceptional, easily the best we have tasted in Townsville. Every dish was crafted with precision, showcasing fresh, high-quality ingredients and a thoughtful balance of flavours. Whether it was the beautifully plated entrees or the indulgent mains, each bite was a testament to the restaurant’s commitment to excellence. This visit was particularly special as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary and Jam Restaurant provided the perfect setting for such an occasion. The elegant ambience, combined with impeccable service and outstanding cuisine, made it an experience to cherish. For anyone seeking a refined yet welcoming dining experience in Townsville, Jam Restaurant is a must-visit. Whether for a casual meal, a family outing, or a special celebration, this establishment delivers on all fronts.

We dined for breakfast this morning for the first time since the relaunch, and it didn’t disappoint. The restaurant was opened up, allowing for a beautiful breeze and lots of natural light. We were greeted by the gorgeous Sophia and Eleonora, who were friendly, engaging, professional and attentive. We ordered the Jam breakfast, which was a huge serving and cooked beautifully. The maple bacon was the highlight. We also ordered the poached eggs, cured salmon and hollandaise on cornbread. This was the absolute favourite. The cornbread was to die for. From the amazing food and coffee to the beautiful staff and relaxing ambience…… we can’t speak highly enough. So pleased breakfast is back. It will definitely be a regular of ours.

Townsville!!!! You want all the nice things the cities have well then this restaurant is it. We dined on a Wednesday night and only 2 other couples were there. Get out and enjoy this place. We opted for the shared experience for 2. Every dish was superb, delicious and served in style. Couldn’t possibly eat it all and when dessert came - well way too delicious. Sure it wasn’t cheap but it wasn’t regular pub food either. Have a classy night and treat yourself. Dibash the assistant manager was our server and was on point the entire evening, he was proud of his food and very happy to showcase their menu. He’d only been in Townsville for 12 days and loves our town already … so get down to Jam and indulge your tastebuds.

This restaurant hosted our wedding meal for a large party, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. The service was truly first-class. They flawlessly coordinated our large group, ensuring every dish arrived together, and they were always on hand to refill water glasses and take drink orders. The menu's variety was exquisite; the charred chicken I ordered was the most tender and flavorful chicken I've ever tasted. We also have to mention that the espresso martini cocktails were amazing! The venue itself was spotless, and the staff were exceptionally efficient and friendly. They significantly contributed to making our special day even more perfect. We wholeheartedly recommend them for any occasion, whether it's a large gathering or just a couple's dinner. We will absolutely be returning.

Went this morning to have breakfast. Ordered Avacado, tomato & corn succotash , truffle balsamic + bread which tasted really awful. Was overly priced for a piece of bread(palm size) , pungent avacado, uncooked corn and tomato. Would really not recommend this place to start mornings. Spoilt the start of the day.
Ashna M — Google review
Visited Jam Corner this morning and ordered the Avocado, Tomato & Corn Succotash with Truffle Balsamic and Bread ($19). Unfortunately, it was a huge letdown. The portion size was shockingly small and the avocado had a very pungent, unpleasant taste — not sure what was mixed in, but it completely ruined the dish. For $19 a portion, it was an absolute joke. Definitely not worth the price and it spoiled what was meant to be a nice breakfast outing. The dish looked good though. Unfortunately, it was all looks but no character.

Alongside other esteemed restaurants like A Touch of Salt and Shorehouse, Bridgewater Q stands out for its exquisite cuisine and top-quality ingredients.
Wow!!!! This venue is amazing. My husband and I came to visit family in Townsville from Sydney. The locals recommended this restaurant to us and we were certainly not disappointed. The cuisine was exceptional, the location was fantastic and the service staff were amazing. Thoroughly recommend this venue! 10 out of 10!.

Absolutely awful food! We had a 5 course menu, the food was totally fat and over sweetened. A duck breast was a stripe of over salted something. And the icing on the cake was a so called tiramisu which was nothing else but whipped cream that a manager said was a chef's interpretation of a classic desert. The service was great though
Maria K — Google review
Great location beside the river. Service friendly and professional. We had the 5 course degustation menu, every course was delicious, our favourite was the spanner crab soufle, delicious. If I had to find a fault, it would be that there were some inconsistencies in some of the dishes, ie presentation and serving sizes were slightly different between plates, but did not impact our experience. Highly recommend 🌟
Russell C — Google review
I had high hopes for Bridgewater Q but was a bit disappointed with the food. It had a fantastic ambience and service with a fine dining feel. It started off well with the entrees, both the flatbread and spanner crab souffle were very nice. However, the mains left much to be desired. The chargrilled chicken was nice with the gochuchang flavour, but wasn't wowwed and I got a bit put off finding a few unplucked feathers in the skin. Lamb loin was so so. Brussel sprouts were great though. I didn't have time to try the desserts. Reservations recommended.

Downstairs bar is absolutely stunning in the cooler months, a hidden gem away from the main noisey bustle of Palmer Street. Decorated delightfully with SENSATIONAL cocktails accompanied by high levels of service. Thankyou ladies on the bar 22/08. We ordered from the upstairs menu which was lovely being able to dine in such a relaxed ambience away from the kitchen. The chargrilled chicken was perfectly cooked but unfortunately not to my pallet with flavours. Chefs definitely know their food at this establishment. Only let down was the dessert. I understand this is a remix of a classic however the serving size was tiny and for the price I was expecting a lot better, otherwise 5 stars.
Ben S — Google review
One of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to in Townsville with incredible staff and innovative food. I had the cured coral trout as my entree, and it was beautifully presented. Loved my main which was a duck with a lot of flavours and textures. And finally the desserts were all fantastic. We also ordered a number of sides and every one was amazing. Can’t wait to return.
Nicky J — Google review
Very delicious meals. This is my second time coming here now. The first time the service was amazing and the food was quick to be served. This is the second time and once again the service was absolutely the best. The staff were very helpful and always made sure we had water in our glasses. The chefs did an amazing job preparing both the starter meals along with the main meals. It’s a perfect place for a wedding reception or a date night with your partner.

Miss Songs Asian Kitchen is a part of The Ville, a waterfront entertainment complex that includes the city's famous hotel and casino. This restaurant offers a modern take on Chinese cuisine, using fresh local ingredients to create dishes like Peking duck. The elegant setting adds to the dining experience, making it an ideal spot for those looking for a blend of Chinese and Asian flavors in an upscale environment.
First time visit for our 13th wedding anniversary , my husband surprised me with the location, as miss songs had been highly recommended for special occasions, the service was amazing from start to finish, very attentive and wished us happy anniversary. The food was incredible and we can’t wait to visit again maybe in a couple of weeks on our date night. Thanks team songs you were awesome.
Kizzy S — Google review
I visited Miss Song and ordered the Peking Duck, expecting the traditional Northern-style dish with crispy duck skin, pancakes, spring onions, and hoisin sauce. What I received was more like Cantonese roast duck, served without pancakes and with plum sauce. I did raise this with the staff, but didn’t want to make a fuss at the time. While I appreciated the offer to change the sauce, the overall dish was still disappointing and didn’t meet expectations. I hope the restaurant can consider updating the menu description or clarifying this dish for future customers.
Qing W — Google review
A friend recommended Miss Songs to us and it was so worth it! Highly recommend the salt and pepper calamari (it’s done differently, the outside tastes like prawn crackers but better), black pepper beef (melts in your mouth), stir-fry vegetables, and the Silk Sip cocktail. Will be going back to try more of the menu next time we’re in town. Reservations are needed.

Yum Cha lunch was good, serving was speedy. Glad they had their signature fried rice in lunch menu as well.

I dined at Miss Song’s tonight. If I could have given my waiter one star, I would. The food was well made and came out very quickly. The hostess was absolutely lovely and went out of her way to help when I was ready to order drinks before the waiter was ready. The restaurant was busy, but my waiter, Zok, decided to stop what he was doing to (quite rudely) interrupt the hostess helping me. He proceeded to take my order and then completely ignored me for the rest of the night. I understand being oversat and or overwhelmed, and I completely understand that a table of one should get less consideration. However, he made the time to check in with all other tables in the surrounding area and chose to make eye contact with me while doing so, clearly going out his way to ignore me. I decided simply to pay and leave. The food was pretty alright though!
Kathryn H — Google review
My husband and l decided to head back to Miss Song since our last visit 2 years ago. We ordered the banquet 2. 15 mins into our 3 entrees whilst still eating it, they started brings out the mains, hovering around us, moving our dishes to make room. Did it feel rushed? Absolutely! Did l mention we were only seated 15 mins earlier? Everything went down hill from that moment. We had to hail a waiter for more drinks even though they could see our glasses were empty but the moment that broke the camels back for us, was when we got up to pay the staff member ignored us and served another couple who came afterwards. When l questioned her that she was well aware we were first in line she said that where we were standing was not the line to pay. Well, to that staff member who l hope she is reading this… there is no signs suggesting where to line up to pay!!! We definitely will not be back. It’s a pity because the food was great. The staff not so much, which made the experience disappointing.

Nestled within the luxurious Ardo hotel in Townsville, Terasu is a captivating Japanese restaurant that artfully marries traditional culinary techniques with vibrant Australian flavors. The open kitchen design invites guests to witness the chefs at work as they prepare exquisite sushi and nigiri, including melt-in-your-mouth sashimi and delectable wagyu beef. Diners can choose to enjoy their meals either indoors or on the scenic outdoor deck, where stunning waterfront views enhance the dining experience.
First time dining at Terasu, and we couldn't wait to try after hearing such good reviews. We booked a table for 2, online. Food tasted amazing and came out so quickly. Loved that we didn't have to wait forever for our meals to come out. We ordered the Bluefin tuna toro & caviar Nigiri, Soft shell crab, spicy mayo & caviar Hand roll - YUM!!, Prawn dumpling, water chestnuts & ginger soy dressing - This was the best dish of the night. The sauce was so yummy too. My partner said he could've ate 20 of the dumplings 😂 For our mains, we had the Wagyu beef short rib grass fed ‘Altair’ yuzu pepper & celeriac salad and the Black Opal Wagyu scotch fillet MBS 9 & wasabi butter ponzu. Both delicious dishes!!! And for dessert, we had the Japanese doughnut, miso caramel 18 & macadamia ice cream. We will definitely eat here again and recommend to family and friends.

Great service, serving time, atmosphere. Authentic Japanese dishes were good, modern / fusion dishes were excellent. Loved the presentation even we only had side and little meals. Would love to go back and try the main next time. The view in the terrace seating was beautiful.

10/10 - Food, cocktails and service was outstanding. Four of us shared the banquet for four and upgraded to the premium Wagu steak - Wow! The presentation of the Sushi dish was unforgettable and the servers were polite and attentive! Highly recommend for a delicious, quality meal!

Absolutely love this restaurant. Quality on par with what you'd expect in Melbourne. We have ordered and shared the banquet with friends and colleagues many times and will return many more.
Andrea R — Google review
Booked in for three people on 24 January 2025, and asked if we could sit outside, the answer was straight “NO” even though the place on the balcony was half full. In my view, Terasu the restaurant outlet at Ardo is overrated by many reviewers. Food is overpriced but at their premium quality no doubt about that . Sushi and sashimi set was NOT sized at Japanese Restaurant standard. They were obviously smaller than normal. (Sorry we did not take any picture). We sat at the first table opposite the bar. The total bill for food and beverage was $410. Ambience is pretty average. Decoration was nothing interesting and looked pretty low class especially the lamp they place on every table which look like a plastic toy rather than decorative item. Service is nothing special. Most of the servers were “Working and holiday visa” people who were trained for few days before they let them work on floor. One of the girl served the Tempura plate over your head and said “sorry” that she served the dish that way??? Ummmm??? Asked one of the server what would you recommend, she recommended DUCK BAO, which is a deep fried seasoning duck served with Chinese bun and Peking duck like condiments (cucumber, scallion, and hoisin sauce!). Honestly, this item is Chinese NOT Japanese food. The staff, overall, needs more professional training. All of them were great, don’t get me wrong. They tried their best in their service with happy smile on their face and positive attitude. The cutlery was at it’s cheapest level in a so called “fine dining” restaurant. Chopsticks were disposable bamboo putting for you on the table not on chopsticks holder, I am not sure what the thing we used to Place chopsticks in the restaurant is called (please let me know if anyone knows what I mean 🤭) I do have lots to say about this restaurant but I am too lazy to write.. hee hee…. In conclusion, ask if I shall go back there again? The answer is absolutely NO.
