Polperro Winery is a 25-acre vineyard that offers stylish villas with private decks and a chic bistro. The vineyard dining features produce sourced from the estate's farm, providing a unique culinary experience. Guests can enjoy platters of fresh seafood and other delectable dishes in the bistro or opt for a picnic among the vines. Additionally, the winery boasts a sophisticated cellar door and four upscale villas, making it an ideal weekend getaway destination.
A great dining experience for lunch. Food was excellent and magnificently presented. Large selection of wines to choose from to complement the food. Service provided by the staff was excellent and took the time to explain and present the dishes. We absolutely loved our dining experience at Polperro.

My partner and I have been to wineries around the world, and this is one of our faves. The wines, notably the pinots and the 2025 rosé are top tier for their categories (and I usually hate rosé, but this was fantastic). James was an incredible guide for our tasting, displaying both passion and knowledge, and made our experience special, elevating Polperro to a top tier winery experience for us. The food is also pretty good and matches the wines well too. Cute space, cellar door, and deck overlooking the vines with nice views.

We had an amazing lunch at Polperro over the weekend. The food was exceptional, the view was amazing and the wine list was fantastic. The staff were very knowledgeable and friendly, with a special mention to Hannah. Hannah looked after us over the course of our lunch and could not have done a better job - knew her wines, knew the food and very friendly. I would highly recommend dining at Polperro.

Outstanding. Polperro excelled expectation on every level. We stayed in Villa 3. Well thought out, well equipped with all essentials, and what a view. Wine tasting resulted in a few bottles coming home. Restaurant was also top notch. End to end, the weekend was faultless and we’d definitely return.

11/10 Recommend! Couldn’t think of a more beautiful dinner location for our wedding anniversary. They happily catered to gluten free and pregnancy dietary requirements without a fuss and I didn’t miss out on a thing. Food was outstanding and the non-alcoholic options were delicious too. Always love visiting Polperro, such a comfortable and warm setting - will be back again and again, thanks team 🙏🏼

The degustation menu was devine. Every bite was so delicious and the presentation was also amazing. The staff were delightful and helpful. The grounds outside where stunning. We live on the Pennisula and have been trying lots of wineries and restuarants but this is by far the best so far.!Highly recommend.

Amazing Cellar door tasting experience. Love the vibe and all the wines. New Chenin Blanc stunning addition. As usual single vineyard Pinot Noir a standout. Late lunch snacks on the deck perfect addition to our afternoon. Truffle fries, brisket focaccia & wings delightful.

Nestled in the picturesque hills of the Mornington Peninsula, just an hour's drive from Melbourne, Foxeys Hangout is a family-owned winery that offers a unique farm-to-table dining experience. The winery, owned by brothers Michael and Tony Lee, specializes in crafting acclaimed cool-climate wines, with a focus on Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Gris.
Highly recommend this gem in Red Hill! Such a great spot to relax and unwind. The owners have made great use of the vineyard’s natural slopes to create a beautiful dining setting. Also, a smart choice for parents—there’s a perfect lawn area for kids to run around. Service was excellent, food came out quickly, and the team worked seamlessly together. We went for the ‘leave it to us’ ($45/pp) to try a bit of everything—ended up with 9 dishes, which was perfect! A great alternative to brunch if you’re in Mornington Peninsula and want to enjoy some wine.

A great spot to soak up the gorgeous view, have a glass of wine and food. I quite liked the concept of each dish being $16. They have a variety of dishes and they were all very delicious. However, some were on the smaller side. During our visit we got placed outside and at the bottom of the steps which we didn’t mind! However, it was hard to get the staffs attention.

I’ve been back several times over the last 10 years since discovering it by chance. Great down-to-earth restaurant with a tasting menu of wines and food. Well worth the drive from Melbourne city centre. Thank you for hosting us so well❤️

Such a gem!!! Love the food and the wines that we got a few bottles back. Service was awesome and professional too. Loved the view when we moved outside, plus the fresh air was refreshing together with the wines. Left pretty buzzed but it was an unforgettable experience!

I visited here at exactly 11am when they opened the door. It was really nice testing time! The explanation was not difficult, simple but clear. Help me to choose the right one! I will definitely visit here again! And so tasty!! Foxeys Hangout!

A beautiful winery with delicious food! We tried their 'Leave it to us' option and it did NOT disappoint. Everything from start to finish was so good, the service was friendly and warm and the view is gorgeous.

Paringa Estate, established by former schoolteacher turned winemaker Lindsey McCall in 1985, is renowned for producing some of Australia's top chardonnay, pinot noir, and cool-climate shiraz. The glass-walled dining room offers stunning vineyard views and a cozy wood fire.
Exceptional in every way! Beautiful setting and rolling vineyard views from the restaurant. Superb and delicious menu. Stellar service, with special mention of John, who truly went out of his way to make our visit a memorable experience! We will be back! Highly recommended!

We visited over the long weekend and really enjoyed the whole experience. We arrived for our booking and were seated immediately at a table on the terrace overlooking the vineyard and mountains. The service was excellent - prompt, friendly and professional. The food was delicious and well executed. Having visited many 3 Michelin star restaurants throughout our travels, we were pleasantly surprised and delighted by this lovely hidden gem. Great wine, great food and great friendly staff. We will be sure to visit again.

We recently had an incredible dinner at Paringa Estate, enjoying the Chef’s Menu with paired wines - and it was nothing short of exceptional from start to finish. Every dish was beautifully presented and packed with flavour; we honestly found it hard to pick a favourite. New head chef Josh Kraupner and his team are doing something truly special here - (somehow?!) flying under the radar, but absolutely deserving of attention. A must-visit restaurant in the region. Highly recommended.

Katrina at Paringa Estate arranged our booking outside of their usual lunch sitting to accommodate our group of 29 for a wine tasting. We sampled five wines and learned about their production; a fun and educational experience. Katrina was fantastic, balancing our group’s mix of chatting, photo-taking, and genuine interest in the winemaking process. The vineyard and restaurant are both absolutely beautiful. Highly recommended!

Superb. These guys should have a chefs hat! Exceeded our expectations with service & staff’s wine & food knowledge. Everyone was so friendly, enthusiastic, & engaged with us & went above & beyond from the moment we arrived. Well worth the value, & we availed of the complementary wine tasting prior to our lunch booking. This enhanced our understanding & relationship to the winery & would highly recommend for others to participate. We left having had a most memorable afternoon & it was the highlight of our stay on the Peninsular.

A very picturesque winery with lovely views. One of the best wine producer in the Mornington Peninsula and been there for a very long time. There is an amazing restaurant there but on this occasion we were there with friends for a wine tasting and some photo op. The gaggle of geese is a bonus!

Lovely winery. Staff at wine tasting counter was very knowledgeable and friendly. Food was really sophisticated and lovely flavour. Their wine were really nice and I understand why they got so many awards !! Just one thing if I can add, I love your olive oil but I prefer more strong and unique flavour olive oil for bread. Congratulation for your beautiful wine.

We had an amazing time celebrating our anniversary at Paringa Estate. Luc and the team really made the experience special. They were knowledgeable, friendly, and excellent at what they do. The views were stunning, the food was outstanding, and the wines had such great depth and complexity, with each sip revealing something new. Overall, we couldn’t have been happier and would definitely recommend it for any occasion.

Ten Minutes by Tractor is a renowned estate in the Mornington Peninsula, offering a curated culinary experience and cool-climate wines. The award-winning restaurant celebrates seasonal local produce with innovative dishes like seared kangaroo fillet and tail. The estate boasts an underground cellar, private dining rooms, an architectural cellar door, an outdoor terrace, and a casual wine bar.
What can I say — absolutely perfect! We enjoyed the 5-course seasonal menu and every dish was beautifully crafted and perfectly balanced. The whole experience felt special from start to finish. A huge thank you to Holly and Jasmine who helped me plan my proposal — they went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly. Marcus, our waiter, was flawless in helping pull it all off, keeping everything relaxed and on track without missing a beat. Incredible food, world-class service, and a memory we’ll treasure forever. Could not recommend Ten Minutes by Tractor more highly.

The food was great and the front of house service was excellent. However the kitchen completely failed in terms of delivering the dishes with acceptable pacing. We arrived at 1pm. We had previously explained in the booking reservation, by personal phone call and then upon arrival we had 1 person with a mild mussel allergy but all other seafood was absolutely fine. The first dish of 3 entrees arrived and all had been “adapted” to avoid seafood entirely. We explained but it’s just mussels. All were replaced. Bad start. For the next 3 and a half hours we were only served entrees. Our first of 2 mains (the duck) arrived at 430pm. It did state on the website the degustation lunch is a 4 hour experience but at 430pm my expectation is to be finishing dessert and thinking about a farewell coffee. We complained at this point and it was very well handled by front of house stuff who agreed it was not acceptable, apologised profusely and gave us some compensation. Full accountability taken on board. The rest of the meal was delivered more promptly and we were out before 6pm. Almost 5 hours is a long lunch! Agree with some comments here that the atmosphere and setting is probably a bit underdone for the level of sophistication they are striving for and we are paying for.

If I could give more stars I would. Booked the tasting menu as a surprise for my mom’s 60th, they called me the night before as I mentioned I wanted to pay. Payment was easy and they asked about the smaller details, such as my mom’s name etc. made her a birthday card and even a candle with a small free desert. Food and wine were amazing!! Service was great friendly and attentive without being over the top.

[2025-09-05] A special occasion called for a long lunch, and special it was. We picked the eight-course Élevage menu and the food was seriously good. The kitchen accommodated our time constraints, so we were seated for closer to 3.5 hours than the recommended 4. Others have critiqued the pacing and I was apprehensive going in, but it made sense on the day and may have felt rushed if condensed much further. The portion sizes are reasonable, so the five-course menu is a good option if you are short on time. Much appreciation to the staff for catering to dietaries and our schedule. I just wish we could have visited when there was a better view of the vineyard!

We recently celebrated a special family occasion at Ten Minutes by Tractor, and it exceeded every expectation. We booked the Hamilton Room, which was absolutely perfect for our group of 14 – intimate enough to feel special, yet spacious enough for everyone to enjoy themselves comfortably. We opted for the Terroir degustation menu, and I can honestly say the food was nothing short of incredible. Each dish was a masterpiece, with flavour combinations that were completely unexpected yet utterly delicious. The presentation was first class – every plate looked like a work of art. The service was impeccable throughout the entire evening. The staff were attentive without being intrusive, and their wine recommendations were spot-on, elevating the entire dining experience to the next level. The pacing between courses was ideal – plenty of time to savour each dish and enjoy conversation, with generous portions that left everyone satisfied. From the initial booking process to the final farewell, every member of the Ten Minutes by Tractor team demonstrated exceptional professionalism and genuine care. The front-of-house staff, servers, and chefs all contributed to making this such a memorable occasion. If you’re looking for a venue for a special celebration or simply want to experience world-class dining in a beautiful setting, I cannot recommend Ten Minutes by Tractor highly enough. Thank you to the entire team for an amazing experience! Highly recommended for: Special occasions, family celebrations, wine lovers, fine dining enthusiasts

We’ve been here before and had some good experience but this time was really disappointing. This is supposed to be the highlight of our Mornington wine trip with some overseas visitors but end up dissatisfying our guests. The environment is more casual than the past, no white table cloth and some stain on the seats, not a fine dining atmosphere. Food was good as expected but then took 4 hours to finish a 3 course lunch, can’t imagine if we took up the 5 course set. Worst of all is the service, ill trained staff (for a fine restaurant), rude and made us fell not welcome. After sitting down we had to ask the waiter twice before the sommelier came to the table, he had no smile and, when asked, didn’t bother to explain the difference between Estate Pinot Noir vs Wallis. He was also rude with his approach as he cut between my guest and myself when we were discussing the wine list with his hand on the table and back to my guest, he didn’t come back to ask us to a second bottle after our glasses were empty. The waiter just recited the dishes very quickly and rushes away, again no attempt to smile or explain a bit more. We’re anxious to leave quickly as soon all is done. I seldom give poor review but given this is one of the top restaurant (suppose to be) there are high expectations from guests, want to provide some improvement suggestions.

Pt. Leo Estate is a stunning coastal winery located on the Mornington Peninsula, offering vineyard tours, cellar door tastings, and an outdoor modern sculpture gallery. The estate features two acclaimed restaurants - Laura and Pt Leo Restaurant - both of which were named among Victoria's best in the 2018 delicious.100 restaurant guide.
We had a milestone celebration and was looking for something a little bit "special" we had heard about Pt Leo Laura restaurant, so decided to give it a go. It certainly did not disappoint. Our table gave us plenty of room to enjoy a panoramic view of the sculpture park and coastline. The service and attention was at the right level and the food was magnificent - from the amuse bouche, flambe lobster at the table to the final coffee we had an amazing dining experience. I would definitely recommend, make sure there is plenty of room on your credit card, but worth every cent. 👍👍👍👍👍

A group of us came to Pt. Leo Estate in Flinders on a Saturday afternoon for a birthday lunch. The winery is situated on Victoria's pristine Mornington Peninsula and the estate is home to 50 acres of vines, sculpture park and restaurant. It is a really idealic and beautiful location, in which the restaurant and winery overlook the vineyards and bay. On arrival, I joined the birthday girl and others at the bar, whilst waiting for our restaurant table to be ready. A bartender told me that I wouldn't be allowed to sit at the bar, as we had reached our maximum capacity of group of 7. After looking around and seeing about 30 available seats from nearby tables, and counting 7 of us at the bar, she said that it was okay for me to stay there. This was a bit of a negative experience as her attitude towards me felt very hostile, and not a pleasant way to be greeted. After being seated for lunch at around 1:30pm, we were guided through the menu by a waiter, and we all ordered our drinks and selected our mains. Despite our booking being from 1:30pm for lunch, we did not receive our entrees until 2:48pm, so it was a very long wait. Our main meals did not arrive until 3:36pm, and dessert arrived at 4:14pm. Fortunately, we were all enjoying ourselves and the dining experience, but that is far too long to be waiting for our food, especially since we had pre-booked this birthday event months in advance. Additionally, there were 4 people on our table with dietary requirements. The waiter (accidentally) made an error and gave one of the celiac girls an entree with gluten in it, which could have been quite detrimental to her had she eaten it. After alerting the staff of this, they were quite apologetic and the manager came up to her personally to apologise and inform her that she had reminded the waiters and kitchen staff of our table's dietary intolerances and allergies. They were kind enough to waive the fee for some of our hot beverages as a compensation for making the dietary error. After our dining experience, we went for a short walk to look at the sculpture park. It was a very windy and chilly day, so we didn't stick around for too long after that. Overall, Pt. Leo Estate is a very beautiful estate with winery and vineyard. The food was tasty, but the wait times were extremely long. The customer service was reasonable, but at times needed improvement in terms of friendliness and ensuring dietary intolerances were considered.

What a stunning location in nice weather. As a Google reviewer my main interest is the cuisine. I had the pleasure of attending a formal 3 course lunch and I was impressed most especially by the degree in which the chef's source from the local region! Down to the salad leaves! 🥗 As I appreciate the snapper is local, I think the chefs could do it better justice than grilling as the corners dry too much. I know a batter or crumb wouldn't look as fancy but it may keep the moisture in a bit better. Whilst I found the diners a little bit la-dee-da and pretentious that's not in control of the owners. This just might be because I am from interstate and not used to Victorians haha. It might also be because the Australian cuisine is 🇫🇷French inspired. Photos of dishes in order: 🐟 Yellowfin tuna eschabeche, olasgati anchovies, pickled quindilla and oxheart tomatoes 🍥 Savoury burnt basque cheesecake, heirloom carrots 🎏 Wood roasted snapper, estate NV sparkling beurre blanc, toasted almonds, charred broccolini 🥩 Flinders+Co "Vintage reserve" beef eye fillet, sauce au poirvre vert, charred shallots, brandy 🍮 Passionfruit cremeux, caramel sauce, mango sorbet, elderflower

What a stunning place! We had such a wonderful time exploring the beautiful gardens. Everything was absolutely immaculate — the grounds are so well maintained, spotless, and full of life. We loved walking through the gardens, admiring the incredible sculptures, and taking the time to read about each and every one of them. It was such a peaceful and inspiring experience. We also enjoyed a fantastic wine tasting. The sommelier was excellent — knowledgeable, engaging, and full of passion for the wines. We learned so much, and obviously had to buy a bottle to take home. It was a perfect experience from start to finish. Five out of five — brilliant in every way. Thank you for such a memorable visit!

Came here for lunch and from the moment you step in you get great customer service and attentive throughout. Had king crab pasta which had a nice tasty sauce and Octopus for entree. Had the Snapper and Barramundi with brussel sprouts and anna pomme for sides. Chardonny and Pinot Noir complemented the meals well. Overall tasty and a wonderful experience followed by a complimentary diner to view the sculptures.

A Refined Experience at Pt. Leo Estate – Where Wine Meets Art and Elegance As a wine lover, visiting Pt. Leo Estate was nothing short of exceptional. Nestled along the stunning Mornington Peninsula, the estate offered a perfect blend of sophistication, natural beauty, and world-class craftsmanship. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the serene vineyard views and the elegant design of the space; a true celebration of art, nature, and fine wine. The quality of the wines was remarkable, each glass showcasing depth, balance, and character that reflected the passion behind every bottle. The staff were knowledgeable and attentive, elevating the tasting experience with their expertise and warmth. Every detail; from the presentation to the pairing suggestions, felt thoughtfully curated, turning a simple wine tasting into a memorable sensory journey. Pt. Leo Estate is more than a destination for wine; it’s an experience that engages every sense. It reminds you why great wine isn’t just tasted, it’s felt, shared, and remembered long after the final sip.

"Absolutely loved our visit to Pt Leo! The beach is stunning, and the views of Western Port Bay are breathtaking. We enjoyed a delicious lunch at the Pt Leo Restaurant, with the wood-fired cooking taking our meal to the next level. The Sculpture Park is a unique and impressive addition, with some amazing artworks on display. The atmosphere is relaxed and perfect for a special occasion or a chill day out. We also appreciated the friendly and attentive service from the staff. Highly recommend Pt Leo for anyone looking for a beautiful spot to enjoy good food, stunning views, and some art! Five stars"

We had an amazing lunch at Pt. Leo Estate. The octopus and wood-fired snapper were both absolutely delicious — fresh, perfectly cooked, and full of flavour. The highlight, though, was the service. Our waiter was fantastic, treating us to a range of different wines to try, opening our eyes to new flavours and styles we wouldn’t normally choose. It really elevated the whole experience. The only downside was the atmosphere inside — it felt a bit hectic, with lots of tables packed in quite close together and plenty of kids running around. Would’ve loved a bit more space to enjoy the setting. Overall though, incredible food, outstanding service, and definitely worth a visit.

Fine dining restaurant
Nestled within the stunning Jackalope Hotel in Mornington Peninsula, Doot Doot Doot is a renowned fine dining restaurant that showcases some of the best regional Victoria has to offer. Led by head chef Simon Tarlington, the restaurant's menu is meticulously crafted to highlight Australia's finest produce while incorporating innovative techniques and flavors. The use of native Australian ingredients, such as wattle in the wattle crusted kangaroo dish, demonstrates a creative approach to culinary artistry.
We had the most amazing time at Doot Doot Doot! The service was outstanding, the ambiance in the winery grounds and restaurant was captivating, modern, and extremely stylish. The wine selection is impressive, and the cocktails at the bar were exceptional. Every dish was beautifully presented and incredibly delicious. The staff were so friendly and took the time to engage with us about each dish. Exceptional is the only way to describe our experience.👌

Doot Doot Doot really delivers with taste and presentation. We opted for seafood mains which did not disappoint. The Moreton bay bugs and Rockling fish were cooked perfectly and decent portions. The poached pear 🍐 dessert was one to remember. Great restaurant setting with dark colours and an epic art piece on the ceiling. Overall good value for a 3 course meal (with additional snacks) for $130 per person. Upgrades are optional. The only thing we were expecting was a wine pairing option which didn’t exist. The waitress was extremely helpful with picking the wines though and offered a taste for every wine first before we ordered.

There were high expectations from our group about this booking, and whilst the venue is lovely and the decor creates this nice, moody vibe, the rest of it could use a little sharpening. The main wait staffer we had was great, very friendly and she had quite the wine knowledge to go with it. Unfortunately we had to continually flag her and other staff down if we wanted anything which is not what you’d expect for a fine dining establishment. The food was good, not amazing, and I feel it was missing the ‘food theatre’ aspect that many other hatted restaurants provide as standard. Don’t get me wrong, we had a good time, but when it comes to if we’d come back again it would probably be a no. FYI don’t sit at the large bench table, those seats are not comfortable for long periods of time.

The ambiance of this place is phenomenal! Our experience was great and would happy to be back again in the future. All the food and drinks were great but the mains (bay bug and char siu pork) slightly lacked in texture and flavour. The wagyu was an add-on which was very delicious as expected. A must try overall!

It is a beautiful restaurant to start with. Dinner was also nice but food in Rare Hare was better than here in my view. Dinner was presented quite well but lacked as much vow facor as I was expecting beside the amazing wagyu on hot rocks which was absolutely sensational. Overall definitely worth trying.

My husband surprised me with a visit to this amazing place for my birthday celebration, and it was truly unforgettable! We had a wonderful time from start to finish. Trinity and Holy took care of us — they were incredibly professional, respectful, and caring throughout our experience. The food was absolutely exquisite. We will definitely be coming back!

We had such an incredible experience at Doot Doot Doot! From the moment we arrived, the team made us feel so welcome and taken care of. Our waiter Don was absolutely amazing. He was attentive, friendly, and so knowledgeable about the food and drinks. Every course was beautifully presented and full of flavour, and the atmosphere was just perfect, relaxed yet refined. You can really feel the passion and attention to detail from the whole team. Thank you for such a memorable evening, we can’t wait to come back!

I don’t understand how Doot does not get talked about enough. The food was up there with Victoria’s very best. The entire restaurant and their staff were exceptional

Montalto offers a refined modern Australian dining experience with a kitchen garden and a deck that overlooks sculptures and vines. The celebratory lunch menu, curated by renowned chef Matt Wilkinson, provides an opportunity to savor the breathtaking view across Red Hill vineyards and the Sculpture Trail through to Western Port on the horizon. The ever-changing menu is based on the bounty of Montalto's estate gardens and locally sourced ingredients.
From the minute we walked in the service was fantastic.Attentive and informative as well as subtle. The ambience in the restaurant was great, quiet and refined, very different from the hustle and busyness of the casual pizza dinning area. Both have merit in there own right. The food I couldnt fault, well considered, light, fresh and clean.Delightfully only one fried dish.Fresh ingredients executed with cooking precision , beautiful presentation and certainly didnt dissappoint. The dessert finale was superb.Highly reccommend.

I photographed a wedding at Montalto Red Hill recently. I love this venue! The vineyards, olive groves, and sweeping views over the Peninsula provide endless opportunities for stunning photos, especially at golden hour. There is a super cute veggie garden too! It was so pretty having speeches on the deck looking over the grass. The team were wonderful to work with, ensuring the day flowed seamlessly so couple could relax and also really looking after the vendors too.

Since moving to the Peninsula, we’ve become regulars at Montalto — and happily so. One of our greatest pleasures is bringing friends from Melbourne for a long lunch at the restaurant, and without fail, they leave as delighted as we are. The staff are consistently genuine, warm, and professional. Whether in the restaurant or the tasting room, they work seamlessly as a team and always go the extra mile to make each visit memorable. The wines are outstanding, the food is exceptional, and the sweeping vineyard views are simply breathtaking. Every aspect of Montalto continues to impress.

We came here for my fiancé’s birthday lunch and what a treat it was. Food was outstanding, some of the best we have ever had with perfect wine pairings to match. The staff were warm and attentive, even offering us a sneak tasting of a new cocktail after we loved the two that we ordered. Thank you for a fabulous dining experience - We can’t wait to come back for the new summer menu!

We had an incredible time at Montalto in the garden room celebrating my husband’s 60th birthday! The food was exquisite, the wine divine and the view breathtaking but the most memorable part of our day was the exceptional service from Oscar who was overseeing our function. Oscar was very attentive to any dietary requirements and made sure that everyone was uniquely catered for and it was no trouble for him (despite lots of rain) to attend to our every need. A friendly, warm and kind young man who is a testament to the quality and high standards of Montalto. Thank you so much Oscar and Montalto. The day was so wonderful and memorable and we will be back! 🥂

We booked Montalto for our 1st wedding anniversary lunch at The Restaurant — and it was simply perfect! From the moment we arrived, the customer service was outstanding, especially from Charlotte and another gentlemen, who warmly welcomed us, explained the menu, and even wished us a happy anniversary. We had the 3-course menu, and every single dish was divine: 🌱 The spring vegetable toast — I wish there was a tray of it! So good. 🔥 The burnt butter — smoky, airy, light perfection. 🥣 The hummus — I should’ve asked for seconds! 🌿 The artichoke — I’m usually not a fan, but wow, absolutely phenomenal. 🍖 The lamb rump and 🐟 rainbow trout were perfectly balanced, and the potatoes… to die for! Absolute heaven. Even the cabbage was delicious. We paired our meal with a sparkling rosé and Pinot Gris, both perfect matches for the flavours 🍾. A special thank you to the team for the complimentary scallops and wine tasting at the cellar door — such a thoughtful touch that made our day even more special 🥂. What a way to celebrate our anniversary! Huge praise to the entire Montalto team for their effortless service, warmth, and attention to detail. Highly, highly recommend!

Everything was amazing. The servers were attentive and friendly and also helpful. We went with the feed me menu. And it was great to share with my parents in their mid 70’s who loved trying the different options and found it all very delicious. Also loved the Birthday Cuvée which I almost left behind if it wasn’t for the staff chasing me down while we were viewing the grounds to return it to me.

Montalto saved our day!! Our group of 10 arrived at another winery for our pre booked and confirmed Christmas lunch only to discover it was closed and Under Renovation!!! We immediately headed over to Montalto and were welcomed by Glen and the amazing team ! We were seated promptly with a smile and served the amazing $75 feed me menu , it was so delicious ! We all loved the food and wine, the service was amazing and such a fun relaxed atmosphere! We finished the day in the stunning gardens eating ice cream. What could have been a terrible day turned out to be just amazing ! We have all voted to come back to Montalto next year as nothing beats it!

Rare Hare Wine & Food Store is located in a prime spot on the Mornington Peninsula, surrounded by ocean and benefiting from a cool climate. The winery offers a range of wines from the Rare Hare and Willow Creek labels, allowing visitors to sample them while taking in the picturesque views of rolling hills and grape vines. As part of the Jackalope Hotel, Rare Hare provides a fun and funky setting for wine tastings and dining experiences.
Solid food, cant really complain much at all. Flavors were unusual but good, not trying too hard on the food concept but could see the thought behind the menu. Place was nice, good view, good tasting and good wines!
Hungry J — Google review
The staff were kind and patiently explained the menu to us, which made ordering very easy. We went for the feast (the classic Hare share menu $85 per pax) and ordered the portion for two to share among three of us ladies. The portion sizes were generous and we were all really full by the end of the meal. The highlights for me were the potato bread, zucchini with stracciatella mousse, the woodfired Lebanese eggplant, and the farro and lentil salad. Everything was flavourful and well prepared. The ambience was pleasant with large glass windows overlooking the vineyard, and it complemented the setting of dining at a winery. Overall, it was a good meal in a nice environment.

A favourite destination during our stay. Great staff who willingly accommodated our request for a table with a view, super friendly, of course the barramundi wings were a fav, plus the squid, woodfired cookie and even the salads were top notch

We had a ripper of a lunch at Rare Hare yesterday! The food was absolute magic - the freshly made potato bread was a highlight! The service was top-notch, thanks to the lovely Skye, who was polite, friendly, and attentive. We rocked up without a booking and had to start at a table inside, but as soon as a spot with a view became available, Skye hooked us up! She even lent a hand shifting our food to the new table - cheers, Skye! Highly recommend Rare Hare for a top-notch dining experience 😊

One of the best winery restaurants in Australia! Great, casual setting. The food is fantastic for sharing. The ultimate star is the fried barramundi wings with nduja butter sauce, and the miso furikake eggplant. Make sure you book!

Came here for lunch with the girls and unfortunately wasn’t impressed with the service or the food. Our waitress was unfriendly from the start and encouraged us to order far more food than we needed, even after we asked about portion sizes. We originally ordered 8 dishes for 5 people, but she insisted a few items it wouldn’t be enough unless we doubled them which led to a total of 12 dishes. The biggest disappointment was the $85 wagyu steak. It was definitely not wagyu quality; chewy, tough, and honestly worse than a basic steak you’d get from a supermarket. There were a few stand out dishes, like the soft-shell crab, zucchini and the deep fried fish, but everything else was pretty mid. Overall, not the worst but not the best. Pricing is decent.
Mel P — Google review
Food & wine were both absolutely nice. Their entres or small share plates were really the highlight. Mains were also ok but I think they were trying to keep the mains (e.g pork etc) very classic & plain whilst other dishes had more innovation and courage built into them. Definitely will try to come here again for the enteres and share plates.

Picture this: a lazy Sunday afternoon, the kind that whispers promises of indulgence and relaxation. With the kind of anticipation usually reserved for a long-awaited reunion, we found ourselves again at Jackalope Estate for what we hoped would be yet another beautiful meal at Rare Hare. Spoiler alert: it was not. What unfolded was less a dining experience and more a chaotic food frenzy, reminiscent of a fast food chain’s worst day. Five dishes landed on our table before we even had a chance to sip our wine, an unceremonious assault on our senses that obliterated any hope of savoring what could have been a memorable afternoon. Let’s break it down: Half a dozen natural oysters, the highlight of the meal, though they felt forgotten in what was a dining race. A sardine fillet on dry, cold toast, an uninspired pairing that left us wanting. Raw albacore tuna, which was fresh and delicious but overshadowed by the chaos around it. Soft shell crab that lacked the vibrancy we craved, that sat cold looking like a fish and chip shop offering from a day gone by topped with a Japanese-inspired wet topping. Wood-fired eggplant with coriander, a dish that could have shone but was lost in a mountain of coriander. Wood-fired monkfish with saffron cream and mussels, served dry and overcooked, a tragic hot pass misstep in execution and a result of the brakes being put on our meal at our request. And let’s not forget the bottle of Rare Hare Grenache Shiraz, which, while fine, could do little to salvage the experience, as steam brewed in my mind from the disgrace of a meal we had undertaken. The table service was attentive and pleasant, a bright spot in an otherwise dismal dining affair. Yet, the kitchen’s frantic production pace turned what should have been a leisurely meal into a hurried exit. If we hadn’t paused to breathe, we’d have been in and out in twenty minutes, which is not what one expects from a top Mornington Peninsula dining favorite. Instead of savoring each dish, we were left scrambling to keep up, resulting in a mood of extreme disappointment. Given this experience, it’s hard to think of a return to Rare Hare, despite our long history with Jackalope....but we will someday give it another try.
