Tea house
When visiting Cameron Highlands, you'll come across the intriguing story of Jim Thompson, an American businessman known for revitalizing the Thai silk industry. The enigmatic circumstances surrounding his disappearance in the area have left a lasting mystery. In honor of his legacy, the Jim Thompson Tea Room stands as a prominent attraction in Cameron Highlands, offering a serene setting amidst picturesque hills and a golf course.
The high tea experience at Jim Thompson Tea Room was a highlight of my visit to Cameron Highlands. Nestled within the Cameron Highlands Resort, the tea room offers a peaceful and elegant setting, despite the hotel’s location near the main road. Once inside, you’re greeted with colonial-style charm, plush armchairs, and large windows that let in natural light and greenery from the outside. A live pianist played soft melodies throughout the afternoon, adding a refined and tranquil touch to the overall ambience. The high tea set was beautifully arranged and delicious. It featured freshly baked scones served warm with clotted cream and strawberry jam, a variety of finger sandwiches including smoked salmon and cucumber, savoury quiches, and an assortment of dainty pastries and desserts. Everything was paired with a pot of aromatic Cameron Highlands tea, perfectly brewed and served in fine china. The service was attentive, with staff regularly checking in to ensure our comfort. It was an unhurried, indulgent experience, perfect for relaxing after a morning of sightseeing or escaping the cooler highland weather. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or just want to treat yourself, this is a must visit spot in Cameron Highlands.

A very delightful afternoon tea experience in a beautifully maintained and comfortable setting. The service was amazing—friendly and attentive—and the hotel's meticulous upkeep adds to the charm. The afternoon tea set was delicious, with unlimited tea that paired perfectly with the treats. The scones stood out as some of the best we’ve had, but the portions of cream and jam were disappointingly small. Even after requesting more, the servings felt a bit stingy. The spacious and inviting atmosphere, complemented by live piano music, made the entire experience incredibly pleasant. If you’re visiting the Highlands, this is an experience not to miss!

Being on the search for some of the best scones in Cameron Highlands, we ended up here for the Hightea set. The Jim Thompson Tea Room seems to be a busy spot for the hotel guests, and even as we walked in, the staffs were immediately alert and asked if we were here for the high tea, then invited us to sit at the Library area as they clean & prepare. The Jim Thompson Tea Room gives you the feeling that you've stepped back in time as the crisp uniformed waiters serve up the set, while you sit back and relax to the soothing music of the resort's resident pianist. The scones were good, and it pairs really well with the clotted cream and strawberry jam. No butter was offered, but the cream was really good - which we requested for seconds and the waiter immediately brought us another plate. The top bit pastries were mostly too sweet for my liking. Even with the standard hotel coffee (refillable), it wasn't able to wash down the sugar overload. If you like being in a lovely relaxing setting, live accompanying piano music and with attentive waiters, and don't mind the price tag, this spot is lovely to be able to sit back and actually hear one another talk. The search for the best scones continues...

Such a quaint and cosy hotel the moment you step in. Love the colonial charm, yet it feels very comfortable. Staff were super friendly and welcoming too. Went for the afternoon tea and it was really enjoyable. The live piano in the background made it extra relaxing. Scones were the star for me – good and the strawberry jam wasn’t too sweet, just nice. The rest of the tea set was great too.

This was such a treat while visiting the area for a day trip with from Ipoh. It seemed so fitting to splurge on the lovely afternoon tea while here. Hubby decided it just wasn’t lunch so settled for the chicken & leek pie & declared it fantastic. I was intent on having the afternoon tea & glad I did. Hubby helped out with the sweet cakes & shared the scones while I enjoyed the sandwiches The scones were so good & the strawberry jam & clotted cream the real deal We both loved the flavour of the local tea after a yummy glass of wine first Excellent service from Hossain who is a gem & so incredibly friendly he made our day

The restaurant is located within the Cameron Highlands Resort. The building has a peaceful surrounding, and a colonial design that does not look old. The tea lounge is similarly well maintained, clean, and retains it rustic charm. Service is excellent and setting is comfortable. Food is nothing to shout about and a bit pricey. But you are paying for the atmosphere and dining experience.
CH C — Google review
Scones were quite delightful. It was served with clotted cream and nice strawberry jam. That aside, nothing to shout about. I find the bread for the sandwiches too dry and cakes were too sweet for my liking. Nothing that rocks my taste buds. I've heard so much about the tea here and I find it just so-so for the price of RM75/pax. Coming here once to experience the ambience when the weather is cool and chilly is nice. It was 18°C during my visit. It does get really busy during tea time. Do book if you are planning to come here just for tea. I happen to be staying for a few nights and hence, tried the tea as I didn't want to move about for food. Service crews were friendly and helpful.
Ai L — Google review
Open design welcome crisp hilltop air. The setting is distinctly colonial, embodying classical charm and the graciousness of a grand old plantation manor. They have a waiting lounge for you to sit comfortably while they prepare the table for you. It's a casual environment with low tables and cushioned rattan armchairs, perfect for high tea and they provide cushion for baby chair too, very thoughtful. Food wise, it wasn't best in class but it was okay with the pricing. RM75/pax, while RM130/couple. Possibly the best afternoon tea at Cameroon. This is our second time visit :)

The Lord's Cafe offers a unique dining experience with a touch of tradition that evokes sweet nostalgia. Situated in the bustling city center, this cafe attracts customers with special dishes like smooth pulled tea and delicious traditional cakes. With its cozy and friendly atmosphere, The Lord's Cafe has become a popular spot for families and friends to gather while enjoying tasty local cuisine.
They have lovely chicken pie that is made flavourful by some tiny vege in it . It is served hot which makes it even tastier. I think is a must try. As for their scones, the original ones is ok, deserve some credit as compared to the ones in UK. But I think the strawberry scone is better. We also tried their cakes. My dad applauded their lemon cheese cake, which is quite creamy but not too sweat. And I personally think the chocolate banana cake deserves some credit for the infused taste of banana in the chocolate cake which I quite enjoy it. I have to point out also it’s super affordable here, cakes, scones, pies all are very price-friendly! One downside is that it’s hidden about inside although it’s just located by the road. It’s hard to see it when driving by. But as you walk close up, you’ll see stairs showing the way up to the cafe.

Nice little rustic place, makes one feel as though you've stepped back in time. Not hard to find, signs pasted all over the place with a huge noticeboard. Plus there's Google map. Apple pie, normal. The dough/crust, seems a little under cooked/baked... One of a kind Strawberry Scone was alright, it came to us warm enough, but otherwise just average. Maybe my taste buds are gone, or everyone else have never had scones before (definitely not 'best ever'), I don't know. Give it a try. Cream is from a standard cannister, a little too sweet. Thankfully it's balanced out with salted butter (extra RM 1 for a teaspoon size). Didn't realise it's self-service, so we didn't know we've to pick up our own order. One of the staffs brought it over and did NOT do it gracefully. We wondered why we were given such a lousy attitude (until I read some of the comments here). So - yeah. Thanks but no thanks. We shall explore other places.

We came the day before and it was sold out. But, we managed to come again. It's very down to earth, rather old decor, but you'll feel at home. It's like time stood still for a while. It's on the second floor, as you enter from the side entrance staircase. The scones are delicious, tea is Classic. Even the omelet was simple and nice. The lighting is great especially at the windows. The sounds of the street is heard, but adds to the old town vibes. Definitely a place to visit.

Quaint and humble little place. Really enjoyed stopping here. Highly, highly recommend the hash browns. Very nice flavours and herbs - have never tried hashbrowns like it before. I almost wanted to ask for the recipe. Scones were a tad sweet, yet still very much enjoyable. Tea is excellent. Would recommend and will be back.
Lele G — Google review
Super affordable cakes and scones. The lemon cheesecake is really good, not too sour, just the right balance. The hash browns here were a bit unique and different from the ones we usually eat, but everything else here is so reasonably priced and delicious! A true hidden gem in the Cameron Highlands!

Absolutely loved my visit to The Lord’s Café! The place has such a cozy and welcoming vibe. The food was delicious, and the drinks were spot on. The staff were super friendly and made the whole experience even better. Definitely a place I’d come back to again and again!

This minimalist café is definitely worth a visit. The space feels warm and inviting, and while the staff are generally welcoming, the woman at the counter did come across as slightly dismissive. That aside, the apple pie and scones were excellent, and I’m confident the other desserts would be just as impressive. Overall, it offers great value for money, with everything priced under RM7.

Drop by here for snack before check in to hotel. The scone and lemon cheesecake are delicious. Mango lassi also taste good. Will come again if have chance to pay another visit to Cameron

Nestled in the chilly climate of Cameron Highlands, Misokimchi at Tanah Rata offers a delightful fusion of Korean and Japanese cuisine. The restaurant's extensive menu features classic dishes like bibimbap, bulgogi, bento boxes, tempura ramen, and army pot. Their signature Korean army pot is perfect for warming up on cold nights. Vegetarian options and varying spiciness levels are also available to cater to different preferences.
We dined at Pizzarella 5 times in 4 days! We were drawn back again and again by the consistently delicious food. The menu boasts an impressive variety of cuisines, which could falter under less skilled hands, but Pizzarella’s chef delivers exceptional quality across the board. Every dish and appetizer we tried was expertly prepared, perfectly seasoned, and bursting with flavor. The garlic bread is addicting! And so good with the mushroom soup. Some of our favorites were the Pizza Diavola, Aglio Olio, Alfredo, Kimchi Fried Rice, and Chicken Ramen. Whether for lunch or dinner, Pizzarella never disappoints—a must-visit for any food lover!

One of the best restaurants we ever visited. The food we ordered are all delicious but the most noticeable thing about this place is the waiter's attentiveness to us. Whatever service he provides, always with care and attention like extra water to drink, extra plates, buying scones, he gave extra jams. Very thoughtful waiter. The price is reasonable. I don't mind coming here again next time simply for its service and food generally all awesome. 👍

Ordered the steamboat. The service was excellent, the staff are kind and helpful. Atmosphere was a little noisy with semi-outdoor eating along the shopping promenade. Food was good however there was no chicken/beef stock/broth that isn’t spicy - only corn 🌽

3 meals in 3 days in their 2 locations in Cameron Highlands. Veggie lovers meal. Steamboat. And sambal + bibimbap. Excellent service with a smile. Everything explained clearly. Honey lemon mint water and Belgium chocolate excellent. Freshest ingredients. My wife liked the MSG free as she is sensitive. Thank you Pizzarella!

Everything was amazing from the food and cleanliness to the atmosphere, music, and service. The presentation of the dishes was flawless, and the entire staff was incredibly friendly and pleasant to interact with. And of course, the food itself was a perfect 10 out of 10.

Very kind service, you gotta come here and try their cheesy Korean dish too. Make sure you ask for a family or group picture- they do this special cool thing with the flowers to cover up the mess on your table. Must recommend. Everything’s Halal Alhamdulilah

Chinese restaurant
Delicious & Happiness Kitchen is a popular restaurant in Brinchang, Cameron Highlands. It is known for its delicious food and happy ambiance. The restaurant offers a variety of dishes that cater to different tastes, making it a great dining option for visitors exploring the area. With positive reviews and recommendations from travelers, Delicious & Happiness Kitchen stands out as a must-visit eatery in the region.
The restaurant looks like already open business for decades, but their foods and service exceed my expectations! Their specialities like 风味猪肉 (stir fry pork), 咸蛋龙须菜 (salted egg vegetables) taste super delicious! The pork might be a bit too salty for some, because it has salted black bean in the dish. I also enjoy other dishes like double mushroom tofu and steamed eggs. Price are reasonable. The service here is friendly, lady boss is attentive to us. The toilet is very clean as well. The parking here is limited, so you have to come here before 7pm to secure a nearby parking. Will definitely come back here for meal again when we visit Cameron!

Dropped by for a quick lunch. Overall a great experience. Ordered the fried kailan which had a great crispy texture and still offered a robust overall flavour. Chicken with ginger and spring onions was succulent and packed a solid but not overpowering flavour from the ginger. The clam sauce was soothing and comforting with a balanced peppery and ginger spiced flavour. Restaurant opens for lunch until 3pm and then re-opens for dinner at 6pm. They were closed for dinner on Tue when we went passed so best to go earlier to check or give them a call prior. Parking available in front of the restaurant.

For those who think a 4.5-star review is everything, do read this! I usually only post when something is really good, but this restaurant really deserves a review — so here goes: Chanced upon this place on Google while searching for dinner on our way to Cameron Highlands. After almost 5 hours of driving, we were excited because of the high rating and promising reviews. The lady who served us was friendly and patient at first. The menu had variety, prices were affordable, and the food was okay. But having travelled around Western Malaysia (Johor, Muar, Malacca, Ipoh, KL, Penang) and Southeast Asia countries (Thailand, Singapore) with similar Chinese food, this place doesn’t seem to hold a candle to any of those — so I guess they’re lucky to be high up in the highlands with less competition. Most seafood here is frozen — which the server told us honestly, and that’s understandable given the location. However, what really spoiled our experience was how they handled a mistake. One of the vegetables we ordered was sambal Kang Kong (water spinach). The lady likely keyed in our order wrongly — she knew what we initially ordered and even admitted it was her mistake — and we were served another vegetable cooked in the same sauce. When the dish was first served, we naturally gave them the benefit of doubt and tried the dish first, assuming it might be a variant of Kang Kong. Any seasoned traveller knows dishes can differ by region so we thought it might be the case. After tasting, we checked with them and found out it wasn’t Kang Kong at all. In any respectable restaurant, if the waiter admits it’s their mistake, they’d replace the dish or cancel it. She admitted it was her fault and apologised — albeit it feeling quite insincere. Then she told us they couldn’t cancel or switch it because we had already “tried” it and the restaurant would suffer a loss as they would have to cover the cost. First time hearing this logic — so the customer has to pay for the server’s mistake and now has to double check the waiter’s work? If we hadn’t tasted it, would they just serve it to another table? Or to someone who couldn’t tell the difference, just to ensure they didn’t suffer a loss on the dish, as this was a main point raised?? We didn’t press the issue further and just accepted the vegetable even though we didn’t eat it. Her reasoning made no sense to me. What if there was a cockroach in the dish and you discovered it only after eating — would you still pay? I mean it’s their mistake but you did taste the dish right? Maybe her reasoning is normal up here, but you, a potential customer, can decide. She even said the vegetables were “very different” (they’re not — both have similar hollow stems) and told us “no free tasting” when we voiced our displeasure at her business ethics. Please madam, nobody is trying to get a free meal out of your 15 RM dish — we’re not rich but we can still afford it, relax. Eventually, she gave us a 50% discount on the wrongly served dish, so we still paid 7 RM for it. What made it worse was how she raised her voice even though the restaurant wasn’t crowded (it was around 9pm). Maybe to scare or embarrass us — we’ll never know and won’t bother going back to find out. She even kept justifying herself loudly to her coworkers or other customers while we were still eating. We ordered quite a bit for 3 people: 2 vegetables, prawn egg omelette, creamy buttermilk chicken, and salted egg fried tofu. The salted egg tofu was the best dish of the night. If you want to visit, go ahead — they’re well-rated and supposedly crowded based on other reviews. But in my opinion, you’ll get better food and service elsewhere. The lady server was friendly to other customers who didn’t raise any issues, so maybe you’ll have a better experience. For us, it was terrible. Environment and atmosphere is as you would expect of such places so no issues with it. For those who think this restaurant has great food — good for you! Wait till you try other places in Malaysia of similar style. :)

Food here is delicious. Loved their deep fried seaweed, sizzling mince pork tofu, claypot pork ribs with salted fish and salted egg mantis shrimp. Had an early dinner around 5:30pm to beat the dinner crowd that starts from 6pm onwards.

The food here wah DELICIOUS la. I read many reviews saying to avoid seafood so I order everything else except seafood ah telling you it's was soilds🤌🏻🤤🤤🤤. Their homemade tofu was out of this world type. Really enjoyed eating here and the staffs were so friendly and so was their younger boss.

Good food, well priced. Recommended by a friend. Came here for dinner on a Monday evening, got a table inside the restoran. Really unique styles of cooking different types of vegetables and really delicious. The fried kai-lan is a specialty but the other vegetables are as good! I highly recommend anyone to drop by here! Just note that parking can be a little difficult to find during peak seasons.. Definitely will come back again!

Food is not bad especially the claypot stew pork trotters. The trotters is soft and they added the dried squid which was rarely seen in the dish Claypot stew chicken was tough as they used breast meat. Generally I feel the dishes were on the salty side but they go well with plain rice.

Coffee shop
Cafe
When it comes to dining in Cameron Highlands, Uncle Chow Kopitiam is a must-visit for those craving authentic Malaysian cuisine. Despite its name suggesting a traditional coffee house, this modern and inviting eatery offers a wide range of delicious dishes at affordable prices. The cozy interior adds to the overall experience, making it an ideal spot to savor local flavors. Notable menu items include the flavorful curry noodles and delectable prawn noodles.
Came here quite late around 3pm. We ordered nasi lemak ayam berempah, curry mee, toast bread, cheesy wedges and chicken sausages with drinks. Everything was too good. It gives the traditional kopitiam vibes. The curry mee is thick and tasty. Nasi lemak sambal was ordinary not the type I was looking for but chicken was good. Regardless a good kopitiam in Cameron highlands.
Kishen C — Google review
Uncle Chow Kopitiam in Cameron Highlands offers a satisfying mix of local flavors with a few unique twists. Order and payment can be made through QR scan. The portion of omelette with cheese and mushroom could be more generous with the price tag. The Bun with Mochi, Kaya, and Butter is a standout – soft, fluffy, and served warm. The kaya isn’t overly sweet, and the addition of mochi adds a fun chewy texture that sets it apart from the usual kaya toast. The Curry Noodles are rich and flavorful, with a thick broth packed with ingredients like tender chicken slices and fresh cockles. Though on the pricier side, the generous portion and quality make it worth it. The Nasi Lemak impresses with its huge, tender chicken thigh. However, the sambal could use some improvement in terms of seasoning and depth of flavor. Like the curry noodles, it leans toward the expensive side, but the portion is decent. The Chee Cheong Fun is served with warm curry, making for a comforting dish. However, considering the portion size, the price feels a bit steep. On the drinks side, Uncle Chow Kopitiam offers less-sweet options, which is a thoughtful touch. The beverages are aromatic and well-prepared, making them a worthwhile order. IF there’re more vegetarian option, it would be perfect. Overall, while some dishes are on the pricier side, the quality ingredients and cozy ambiance make it a pleasant stop for a hearty local meal in Cameron Highlands.

The food here is delicious, and what I love most is their coffee C, it’s the best I’ve had so far, with a slight salty note that makes it unique and so yummy. Their western breakfast was also very good, definitely better than the one at Scott’s. The tomatoes were fresh, and they offer more options too. I do regret not ordering their nasi lemak, as the ayam berempah smelled amazing. Yes, I’ll definitely return.

The place was quiet and cooling when we arrived, a nice spot to relax. When we entered no menu was given to us, we were not told to scan the QR code to order - we figured it out ourselves but we saw that when other guests came, they were given menus and informed to scan the QR code but oh well. I ordered the hor ka sai, a mix of milo and kopi that was rich, gao, and creamy. The traditional soft boiled eggs cannot go wrong. We tried the popular peanut mochi bun, which tasted soso but the mix of crushed peanut and chewy mochi made it interesting. For mains, we had mee siam with fried chicken since rendang was unavailable. The mee siam was slightly salty in a good way, with tau pok, bean sprouts, and spring onions adding flavour and texture. The fried chicken was tender and tasty. Overall experience is not bad, just wondering if more can be done for service.

We of 5-member family ordered our lunch using the QR code. 4 of us got our food at a reasonable waiting time. 1 of us was forced to wait for almost an hour for her food to be served. We complained but was informed the food would be served in due time but it never was. Meanwhile, 4 other tables which came after us with average of 5 orders per table had their meals served while we waited for our last member to be served. Waiters not proactive to attend to issue at hand. Poor service.

I really like the mee curry. Had breakfast here on Friday morning with my sister. Our meal being served quick, premis bersih, makanan sedap, and the atmosphere was chill. Harga mahal sikit lah but it is not an issue for me. Here I give you 5 stars for Uncle Chow.

Taste is very subjective and not everyone will agree to my views, one man's food is another man's poison. Some might disagree with me but let's just agree to disagree sometimes :) This shop is considered one of the earliest point for us to patronize when entering Cameron Highlands from Tapah. Easily found, ample of parking, bad service, bad food, misleading food name, price on a higher side. When price is on a higher side, my expectation is higher. Staff - When we first came into the shop, few patrons left and table was left with few cups and plates, the staff took the cups and plates away and we were tired from our trip and sat down. We asked the staff to wipe the table and they looked at us weirdly and showed us the 'Not my job' face and had a good 1 minute discussion with his collogue before coming and wiping the table. Bad experience. Menu - QR Code scanning, saves you time but you are required to pay upfront when you use QR Scanning. Pretty much local food. For 4 pax, we ordered Nasi Lemak with Fried Chicken, Curry Noodle, Hainanese chicken Chop and Fried Kuey Teow, Drinks, we did Kopi O, Honey Lemon, Teh Peng, Kopi C - Total a whopping of RM82.60. Nasi Lemak - I have never ordered a Nasi Lemak that costed soo much that tasted this bad. Rice - no hint of lemak or even fragrance, i think this is not even considered Nasi lemak. Sambal - Tasted like chilli boh that was heated with oil & the slightest heat and served, tasted bad. Condiments + egg, nothing to shout about. Chicken - Other than being salty, spices is not on point but the meat is soft. RM16 for this portion, KL also kalah oh.. Curry Noodle - Only thing that tasted okay but loads of space for improvement. the Lemak / Santan tasted more here with the spicy kicking in. RM14 for extremely normal Curry Noodles, think about it. Hainanese Chicken Chop - Gravy too smoky or in another words, tasted burnt, not sure if its a local taste but its a no. Chicken was Fried to crispy served with fresh cucumber and tomatoes. The only thing tasted normal was the cucumber and tomatoes. RM18, as usual, KL also kalah. Fried Kuey Teow - Not even Fried Kuey Teow, its Fried Hor Fun, not sure if Cameron calls their Hor Fun as Kuey Teow. No Wok Hei, tasted more like Gon lou Hor Fun - Tasted salty which i think too much soy sauce which initially i thought was the taste of fishballs/Fishcakes but no, and you don't get to taste other ingredients other than the blood Clams & Taugeh. only 2 things that taste normal was blood clams and taugeh. - RM15, whole Malaysia also lose to their price. Overall Experience:- Speed of food came okay, not too slow, not too fast. I felt there was no love by the cooks in food prep, drinks was okay. Shop ambience was okay but it was the flies playground when your food is here. They do have the fly zapper but its spoilt and did not fix it. Overall, extremely bad experience. Final Say:- This is my first and final time patronizing to this eatery. There are alot of areas for improvement. I understand you need to hike up price due to operational & ingredients fees but your quality should be on top with your price. Perhaps you might be focusing on your Tea time instead of heavy food, who knows? This shop does not give me the feel good vibe that i has to give a review that is this long. Let my RM82.60 be a lesson here to anyone who wants to dine here.
