Fine dining restaurant
Restaurant
Burdock & Co is a cozy restaurant in Vancouver known for its regional Canadian share plates and seasonally rotating wines. Chef Andrea Carlson's farm-to-table approach has earned the restaurant recognition, including being the only woman-owned establishment in Canada to receive a Michelin Star. The restaurant focuses on sustainability, supporting local food systems, and creating seasonally based and unique dishes. With a dedication to local ingredients, Burdock & Co offers themed tasting menus that reflect the Pacific Northwest's native concepts.
With the Flower Menu coming back soon, it reminds me of the time I visited with my daughter. It was the most perfect evening we’ve ever shared. The warm, cozy atmosphere of the restaurant was lovely, and I'm grateful to the staffs for their thoughtful and kind service. Every plating was so artistic, it felt almost too beautiful to eat. It was my first time experiencing dishes made with flowers. The gentle floral aroma throughout the meal made it a truly joyful experience. It was such a special and satisfying evening. I hope my daughter will take me again someday!

We loved every minute of our Burdock and Co. experience. The food was stunning to look at and even better to eat. Chef Andrea Carlson is a master with flavour and creativity. No detail is overlooked! The drinks are flawless (don’t skip the martini) and the wines expertly chosen to complement the menu. Our server did a fantastic job explaining the thought process behind each dish and the staff were attentive in just the right way. Please do yourself a favour and rush to Burdock & Co. next time you want an unforgettable meal.

I had a tasting menu and the sauces were too strong. They didn’t feel new or creative and tasted like something I’ve had before. The portions were so small that it felt like they were trying to save on ingredient costs. I would have preferred a bigger main dish instead of getting two desserts for no clear reason since it just felt like a cost cutting move. They said the sourdough bread was house-baked, so I ordered it, but once it cooled down a bit, it became really tough. I personally grow my own sourdough starter and bake at home, and it felt like they microwaved it to warm it up and then lightly torched it before serving. If that’s not the case, I think it would be good to experiment with a way of baking and serving it so that the bread doesn’t get tough even after it cools. After $165 per person, the bread and two glasses of wine, (plus tax and tip) the bill came to almost $420 for two. It was not worth it at all. I honestly do not know how this place got a Michelin star. I will not go back unless I hear that they've significantly improved.

We celebrated our wedding anniversary at Burdock and Co, and it was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we walked in, the team made us feel truly special. The service was warm, attentive, and seamless. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable and lovely, guiding us through the menu with genuine enthusiasm. The food? Unreal. Every dish was a masterclass in flavour and balance, showcasing thoughtful ingredients and bold creativity. You could taste the care in every bite. A highlight of the evening was getting to chat with the owner, who was so kind and welcoming. It added a personal touch that made the experience even more memorable. If you’re looking for a place that delivers impeccable food, heartfelt service, and a sense of occasion, Burdock and Co is it. We left feeling celebrated, nourished, and already planning our next visit.

Visited in October 2024. This was our first Michelin Starred restaurant experience! Overall, great experience, and good service. Our menu was ‘Radiant Radicchios Under a Frost Moon’ , so we were in for a unique treat there. Greeted promptly upon entering and seated per our reservation. They knew about our food preferences going in and was easy to accommodate. Besides the tasting, we did add the arctic sourdough (which was pleasant), and drinks. My cocktail was enjoyable and my wife’s wine pairings were on point. There was a small mixup on the wine and the server apologized and upgraded the rest of the wine pairings at no additional cost. Solid presentation of food that you need to have an open mind for, yet tasty. Would definitely return if in the area again.

This place is truly magical. Sitting at the bar was such a comfortable and warming experience. Watching the chefs at work showed how much care and expertise goes into every bite. Delicious, perfectly seasoned, intriguing and visually a wow! The radicchio menu is my favourite moon menu.
Milia — Google review
We were looking forward to our first Canadian Michelin restaurant experience. After much research on Vancouver dining, we decided on Burdock and Co because of their philosophy on using local ingredients. When one of the dishes came out, i was curious to know where the scallops came from. I was disappointed to know that they came from Hokkaido and not Canada. Most of the wines in the food pairing were also not local presumably because of their "biodynamic" status. There's definitely a mismatch in the philosophy and what's being served. Sorry.
L T — Google review
Haven’t took pictures of the food as it was delicious and found it would disrupt the cosy atmosphere. The seasonal menu inspired by the radicchio was delicious from start to finish, with the ability to tailor your tasting menu for different appetite levels. The chefs ability to curate as entire menu with one ingredient at the centre, while keeping every dish different from the last was impressive. The service was warm and attentive, they made us feel at home on our trip to Vancouver. It would be impossible to award a score under 5.

Thai restaurant
Maenam is a trendy restaurant that offers a modern twist on traditional Thai cuisine, along with a stylish bar serving cocktails. The establishment has gained recognition in various food awards and competitions. The menu features dishes made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients, including sustainably harvested seafood from the Fraser Valley and the Pacific region.
What an amazing Thai restaurant with incredible food. We went on a Saturday night for the family style dinner. Added on some additional items like dumplings, roti and pad Thai. The food is well portioned out for regular eaters having the family style, but as someone going in hungry was glad to have added on. All dishes we had were exceptional. Well balanced, good flavours and beautiful presentation. Purchased the cook book on the way out so we could try doing more at home.
David M — Google review
We were a party of 6 so they made us get the family style dinner package. The food was good, especially the soups. The desserts were also great. Favorites were Wagyu salad, pork cheek and the sable fish. But I wish we had more flexibility over what we could order. It didn’t seem worth it for $92 plus 20% guaranteed tips for a large party. Would eat here as a smaller party.
Jing Y — Google review
Had high hopes for a Michelin rated restaurant. But it was disappointing unfortunately the $92 per person set menu was just mid. The snacks were very pretty, but strange tasting. The halibut hot and sour soup and the Wagyu beef salad were good. The curry and other dishes weren’t bad but if you go to your local Thai restaurant, you can get the same quality for half the price. Hubby ordered a second beer, but never got it. We were served three different kinds of bite-size dessert. Rice pudding one was the best. The other two were just OK. Since we were celebrating hubby‘s birthday, they gave us a free dessert with a candle on it. That was a very sweet and thoughtful gesture.

One of the best Thai meals or meals in general that I've had in my life (and I love Thai food)! The curries (halibut green curry and lamb shank massaman curry) are the best I've ever had, and the mussels are great too! I ordered pad Thai "for the kids" and it was really good too. I highly, highly recommend Maenam if you are in Vancouver. It was exquisite!
Kyle V — Google review
For a $92 per person tasting menu and a Michelin guide (many many years too…) restaurant…. Absolute colossal letdown!!!! Most dishes felt more Chinese inspired than Thai (pork belly was basically charsiu aka Chinese bbq pork but they added extra honey, silken tofu is a classic Chinese dish and baby corn?? Plz… baby corn??? For a Michelin guide restaurant??? Might as well say it’s the frozen veggie medley from Costco…) There were notably some quite awful dishes too… like the watermelon with fish flake… why? Nobody wants fishy melon bud… nobody…. The restaurant was very loud, to the point it became hard to hold a conversation with ppl at your table without feeling like your yelling. And this might be a hot take, but it’s essential for the serves to be able to communicate the dishes being served on a tasting menu. I love that the restaurant seems to hire Asian staff but our waitress had a very thick accent and seemed very shy so coupled with the loud restaurant we couldn’t understand anything she was saying. Had to repeatedly ask her what we were eating. Anyways, unfortunately would not recommend… even though we really wanted to like this place!
Cici L — Google review
Excellent food that fell short just a bit. Flavor profile was on spot, but the texture was just a bit off. From the chicken being slightly on the overcooked side to the mushy Pad Thai, while flavors overcame the issue in general, the mouth feel just wasn't on point. Service was excellent with servers paying just enough attention in a packed dining room. One key issue was the constantly flickering light above the bathroom, which was both frequent enough to be distracting, but random enough that no one knew if it was intentional. Either swap your bulbs or hire an electrician please to check your wires.
Alvin W — Google review
Appetizers are beyond amazing! Desserts are great too. However the main courses fall flat but nevertheless I enjoyed it so much because of the friendliest, most personable service from the staffs here. One of the spots I will keep coming back.
Florence D — Google review
Wow. What an incredible experience. We have a fairly high bar for Thai cuisine and Maenam exceeded our expectations. The thoughtfulness of each dish and the flavour profile in even the smallest of bites was outstanding. The service was attentive, warm, and consistent throughout the night. Chef Angus An and team, well done!

Pacific Northwest restaurant (Canada)
Restaurant
L'Abattoir is a popular restaurant located in the historic Gastown area of Vancouver. The industrial-chic setting provides a unique atmosphere for enjoying Pacific Northwest cuisine with a French influence, complemented by craft cocktails. Chef-owner Lee Cooper, who has worked at Michelin-starred restaurants in the U.S. and UK, leads the kitchen. The restaurant has received numerous accolades from various prestigious lists and guides, solidifying its reputation as one of Canada's best dining establishments.
Pricey, but worth every penny. Each dish is absolutely extraordinary and packed with flavour. Here’s a tip: they have happy hour drinks and appies that come at a great value. The baked truffle mussels are the best I’ve ever had. The bartender and staff were wonderful.

An absolute gem in the heart of Gastown! L'Abattoir delivered an exceptional dining experience from start to finish. We opted for the Chef's Tasting Menu, and it was a spectacular journey. Each course was thoughtfully crafted, beautifully presented. The ambiance is intimate and chic, with a vibrant energy that makes it feel special without being stuffy. To top it all off, the service was impeccable. Our servers were attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely warm, guiding us through the menu and ensuring our evening was flawless. L'Abattoir is a must-visit for anyone looking for a good dining experience in Vancouver.

Great fine dining restaurant in the heart of gastown. We went there to celebrate our anniversary and the restaurant gave us complementary champagne to mark the occasion. Very nice of them to do so. We ordered the bread basket, tuna crudo, octopus, duck, steak Diane and the strawberry and cream for dessert. For drinks we got the shake senora and don draper which were nice. The best appetizer was definitely the tuna crudo. Both mains were delicious too and the dessert is a must get. Total came out to around $270 before tip. Definitely on the pricier side but we had the perfect amount of food. Service was great and we’ll definitely come back!

Solid upscale restaurant. Made a reservation in advance and was seated immediately. I ordered the pork jowl confit $32, wild pacific halibut $53, and a glass of sauvignon blanc $16. Food is high quality and all the ingredients and flavors were well thought out and meshed well together. Portions and prices felt reasonable. Service was pretty good too. I requested for no added salt or butter, and received a very salty fish, but they gladly exchanged it and brought the new dish out rather quickly. They have a sommelier as well. Very nice restaurant. Quiet, a little dark, intimate setting. Indoor dining only, bar and table seating. I recommend this place

Husband and I went for a date night and had the chef's menu. It was excellent. The octopus and the tomato salad were standouts. The halibut was cooked well too, as was the lamb dish. We spent $140 each for the chef's menu (without drinks or service charge) which we thought was good value. We left very full! The desserts were tasty too but the fizzy lemonade one was unexpectedly amazing! Tapioca balls, fizzy lemon, vanilla ice cream, blueberry and raspberry granita... It was such a fun surprise! Service was impeccable and they gladly accommodated my weird kidney transplant food requirements. A must visit.

This place is a can’t-miss—pure class. I sat at the bar for happy hour, and their $10 cocktails are a fantastic deal. The oysters are a must-try, no exceptions. The bartender was friendly, knowledgeable, and offered great suggestions on what drinks to try

We tried the seasonal chef’s menu last week. I was surprised by the presentation of the steak tartare, which appeared as tuna sushi. It tasted really good! I picked the Wild Pacific halibut even though I’m not a big fan of fish. The fish was smooth in texture and went very well with the beurre blanc. I ordered a mocktail, which was quite refreshing, as I had a wine tour that morning, so no more alcohol for me😆
Candy C — Google review
Heard really great reviews about this restaurant and came here for dinner as a back up plan, but left knowing I probably won't return. The vibes here are nice but the menu is lacking in options and portion size. Personally had the Heirloom Tomato Salad, Pork Jowl Confit, and the Wild Pacific Halibut (as pictured) to myself. All dishes were tasty and cooked really well but I was so disappointed my halibut was served barely lukewarm - maybe my dish was cooked faster and the kitchen waited for all our table's dishes to finish before serving them together, but my plate was room-temp-cold, so it tasted like it just waited out in the open (ie. not warmed under a heat lamp). The halibut was cooked and seasoned really well though, no bones. With regards to my comment on portion size, perhaps I have a large appetite or I came post-hike (4-hour difference from my last meal) and was just starving, but I left still feeling hungry after my 3-dish meal. The menu is all a-la-carte only and not filling at all, but that's not the restaurant fault. Despite my disappointment in the food, our server was really nice. Unfortunately, she spoke so softly and too quickly that I almost felt rude asking her to repeat what she said after every few sentences. Aside from that, she was quite prompt (ie. we didn't feel like we had to wait and flag her) and recommended menu items with positive enthusiasm. Other restaurant staff were also really cordial which we appreciated. There is another French restaurant within walking vicinity of here that was more favourable.

Restaurant
Vij's is a renowned Indian restaurant in Vancouver, known for its innovative and lively dining experience. Run by Vikram Vij and his ex-wife Meeru Dhalwala, the restaurant offers a unique take on South Asian cuisine using local ingredients. The menu features creative dishes like lamb "popsicles" in creamy curry and British Columbia rainbow trout in coconut masala.
I would rate this experience as an exceptional one when it comes to food flavors and service in the entire North American. The owner Chef Vikram Vij personally welcomed us and the food is prepared fresh by an all women team. For starters we had: 1. Vegetarian Spring Rolls 2. Paneer Momos 3. Crispy chicken with a special sauce 4. Jackfruit Sheekh Kebabs Entrees: 1. Paneer Kofta curry with special Naans 2. Fish in a gravy 3. Lamb chops marinated for 19 hours in a special wine and fenugreek sauce. 4. Vegetables Biryani Dessert: Hot Gulab Jamun Creamy Malai Kulfi with Rose petals All ingredients used are local that are grown within the radius of 40 miles of the restaurant and the prices are great value for one. Decor is nice and can take upto 190 persons. Highly recommended if you are in Vancouver.

Rating: ★★☆☆☆ (2/5) Restaurant: Vij’s, Vancouver I used to work with a manager and colleagues from India, so I gradually developed a taste for Indian cuisine. That’s why I was excited to try Vij’s, but unfortunately, it turned out to be a major disappointment. ⚠️ Here are the biggest letdowns: 1. Masala Chai – I ordered it expecting a rich, authentic flavor, but it was very bland, tastes like Starbucks Chai Tea Latte. 2. Garlic Naan – This was the biggest letdown. It tasted no different from the pre-made naans you get at the supermarket. Honestly, it’s like going to a Chinese restaurant, ordering fried rice, and realizing it tastes just like frozen microwave fried rice – a huge letdown. 3. Rose-flavored Ice Cream Dessert – I thought it would include Gulab Jamun, but it ended up just being rose-flavored ice cream with a syrupy sweetness. Really underwhelming. ✅ A few things that were decent: • Mango Lassi had a nice flavor • Lamb popsicles were also okay I spent CAD $75 in total, plus a $5 tip. The service was mediocre — the server forgot my Mango Lassi and I had to ask again later to finally get it. 🌟 The only real positive? They accept ApplePay
Hao C — Google review
I was really looking forward to trying Vij’s after hearing so much buzz — the service and atmosphere truly lived up to the reputation. The staff were attentive, warm, and made the experience feel special from the moment we arrived. The space itself is beautiful, modern, and welcoming. That said, the food just didn’t land for me. I ordered the better butter chicken, and what I received was watery, under-seasoned, and lacked the richness and depth of flavor that typically defines the dish. When I asked about it, I was told that this was how it’s traditionally made — but after checking in with Indian friends, they all strongly disagreed. It felt like I was being gaslit into thinking I misunderstood a dish I’ve had many times before. In general, the flavors throughout the meal felt muted and overly westernized — not necessarily inauthentic, but lacking the boldness, warmth, and complexity I associate with great Indian cuisine. For the price point, I expected much more in terms of flavor and execution. I really wanted to love it, and I respect the concept and the legacy of the restaurant. But unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to expectations. Amazing service and ambiance, but the food didn’t justify the hype — or the bill. Great hospitality, underwhelming food.
TinaG — Google review
Tried the lamb popsicles, “better” butter chicken, samosa, rice pudding, naan, and cocktails. The lamb was high-quality and flavorful, though the sauce was thin and yogurt-forward. The butter chicken was clean and organic, but too westernized for my taste. Samosa was the standout — crisp, well-spiced, and delicious. Rice pudding was light and satisfying. Cocktails were generous and well made. Service was excellent — attentive staff and a manager who genuinely cares. 💸 Price-wise, very reasonable. You’re getting a full dine-in experience in a beautiful space, with thoughtful food and great hospitality. In today’s world where a basic sandwich costs 10-20$, this felt like excellent value. If you’re after bold, traditional flavors, this may not be it. But for a clean, upscale Indian meal — Vij’s stands out.

Exceptional food and even better service! The Michelin Bib Gourmand award is well-deserved. The ambiance is vibrant, and the flavors are unforgettable. A special thank you to our server, Su, who was an absolute delight—attentive, kind, and full of great advice. We'll be back soon!

I saw it was rated somewhat best in town with Michillen logo. It was a weekend dinner and place was packed. Chef are nice and help out around the restaurant as well greeting us etc. Service and atmosphere were great. Looks great for dating and casual dinner. Food. I got recommendations from the very nice waitress and order the perfect portions for us However, the taste or quality isn’t what I expected. Honestly I am not Indian and I am comparing to what I had tried around the globe on the taste. Seems not as tasty as I thought. The crackers are pretty much gonna expire taste The chicken is too rough and touch. Spices is good by the way. Just one of them are too salty to me. The main is the goat curry with bread and rice. The curry isn’t the flavor I was looking at. Bread is a bit over toasted Well, I can only say may be this is the taste of other parts of India as I know when I work in India that the taste and spices are different in different parts of the country. So, that’s about it. I gave this as comparison to the other 2 Indian place I had in Vancouver which is in Granville street. Thanks

Amazing Food and Thoughtful Service Visited Vij’s recently and had such a great experience. The food was incredible — I ordered the Portobello Mushroom and Vij’s Favourite Chicken Snack, both of which were packed with flavour and really well-prepared. The mushroom dish was rich and satisfying, and the chicken snack lived up to its name — crispy, tender, and full of bold spices. I also want to shout out Rohan, who took care of our table. He was friendly, professional, and really knowledgeable about the menu. His recommendations made a big difference, and you could tell he genuinely wanted us to enjoy our meal. It’s always refreshing when staff are both approachable and passionate about what they do. All in all, it was a great evening — delicious food, warm atmosphere, and attentive service. Definitely planning to come back!

I’ve had a decent amount of Indian food, but this is easily the freshest I’ve ever had before. It was so fresh, I wouldn’t be surprised if you told me that the ingredients were fashioned that morning. The naan was excellent. It had a texture that I’ve never experienced with naan before, and had a great depth of flavor to it. While being buttery, it did not given the impression of being greasy like many other naans that get carried by the butter they are coated with. Ironically, the chicken vindaloo was the weakest item. I wouldn’t order it again. Otherwise, the food experience was great. I’ll certainly be making my way back when I’m in the area again.

Fusion restaurant
Kissa Tanto is a unique dining spot in an unassuming Chinatown building, offering a fusion of Italian-Japanese cuisine and cocktails in a chic space inspired by 1960s Tokyo jazz cafes. The restaurant's menu, curated by executive chef Joel Watanabe and sous chef Alain Chow, features one-of-a-kind dishes like Tonno Mantecato and Dandelion Pappardelle that evoke the elegance of a bygone era with delicate flavors.
visited the restaurant for a birthday. The service was very attentive and consistent from beginning to end. The server was excellent at providing recommendations and checking in on us. The table was wiped clean multiple times throughout the meal. Our water glasses were always topped up. The food was delicious with lots of options. I am a vegetarian and they were able to offer me a couple of off menu items as options. I would definitely recommend this restaurant looking for a special dinner out.
Tristan D — Google review
Visited during a previous/recent trip to Vancouver and was recommended by many locals as a top spot in the city (located in Vancouver’s Chinatown) as well as being featured on the Michelin Guide (one star as of the review). Kissa Tanto is best known for their Japanese-Italian fusion cuisine, combing elements of both styles of cuisine together. Their Carne Cruda is essentially a version of a steak tartare, which is made using wagyu beef and is accompanied by Asian flavours such as nashi pear, scallion soy and sansho. While the appetizer was overall unique, the flavour and texture may not be something for those who do not prefer tartare or raw meat. Their pasta dish (the Spaghettoni - no longer available on their menu as of writing) was made using a ragu of Wagyu with Japanese curry, which gave it a unique curry taste. The pasta dish probably better represented the unique Japanese-Italian fusion that the restaurant is known for, as the flavours were more unique. Based on overall reviews and consensus, their other popular main dishes such as the Whole Fried Fish are often recommended but as shareable between groups. They also offer an omakase option as a tasting menu which is also a popular option. Inside, the atmosphere is more reminiscent of a jazz bar with a more cozy environment. Bar seats are also great for solo dining or for pairs to eat at as well to be able to watch many of their drinks being made. Staff were very friendly and provided recommendations for orders as well as being accommodating. Overall, it’s definitely a unique eating experience with the dishes offered. For some of the dishes offered, however, it can be quite pricey for what it is but it would be more for the experience and atmosphere. It’s highly recommended to get reservations for the restaurant given its popularity.

As a group, we especially favoured the appetisers and pasta dishes, which really shone. The Wagyu tartare, blanketed in finely grated cheese, and the heirloom tomato burrata salad were particular standouts — vibrant, fresh, and beautifully balanced. The Franco-Japanese omelette, served early in the meal, was another highlight and a clear favourite for John, Joan, and Danielle, with its silky texture and delicate truffle topping. I especially enjoyed the Amatriciana-inspired pappardelle, rich and satisfying without being heavy. The kitchen also handled a seafood allergy in our group thoughtfully, providing a bavette in place of the seafood course. While the bavette and scallops didn’t quite suit my personal taste, both were prepared very well. Overall, it was a delightful evening — elegant dishes, wonderful drinks, and an excellent way to celebrate with dear friends.

We came here for dinner and ordered: - Fried Stuffed Olives: Sausages as filling inside. I don't really enjoyed this, because of the smell of the sausages which are too strong. - Tonno Mantecato: Mashed potato that they confit with tuna, which was so heavenly made as a dip for bruschetta with tobiko. All the fish and soft potato flavour combined perfectly in the dish. - Tajarin Pasta: Creamy from yolk in thin soft homemade pasta. - Whole Fried Fish: It may looked just like regular fried fish, but the cooking level is amazing. I couldn't find any fishy smell or oily grease on it. - Well-pairing dessert with yuzu and white chocolate. * Honorable mention for the cocktail: My Private Tokyo. The plum wine was so good: sweet & sour. The atmosphere was casual and cozy. Service was excellent!

The food is great but the service makes it outstanding. Shoutout to Daniel, Chloe, and chef Felix for making this dining experience top tier. Atmosphere is beautiful, moody, every detail feels intentional. Standout was the pappardelle. Oysters always good. Tiramisu also delicious. The pork - UNREAL. The juiciest, soft/qq, overall just a great bite. Come with friends and share a lot. Come yourself and sit at the bar. Either way, worth checking out.

I have been coming here over the years. Kissa Tanto has been one of my favorite place in Vancouver for those evenings where I just want to enjoy some creative yet refined Japanese/Italian fusion cuisine. The first time I came here there was a miso butter spread made with cheese curds that just blewwww my mind in goodness. — March 2017: The miso butter was an excellent choice! I still can’t forget til this day. Carne Crudo was incredibly good. — July 2021: My newest fave in Vancouver. Show up at 5:15pm to get a better chance of getting a spot. This place is hard to book! The theme is Japanese-Italian fusion. I had a mind bogglingly amazing cocktail - My Private Tokyo. It is an Amaretto based mix with plum wine and egg froth. The carne cruda in the photo does not look photogenic, but man, it was gooooodd!! It is a wagyu beef tatar dish, you scoop up with fried wonton skin chips. The pasta dish tajarin was just ok, but nothing for me to rave about. The star of the meal was the lamb dish. It was perfectly prepared with not a single hint of gaminess. — July 2021 Went to kissatanto again. I was craving the udon pasta I saw on the menu but was too full to try it since last week lol. It turns out I over expected. There were bits of king crabs, but nothing like what imagined a $50 dish will be lol. It wasn’t bad. Udon served like a cream sauce pasta dish was creative. The fried fish is a staple for regulars. — August 2025: Today we came by to welcome a friend from out of town. This might have been my first time coming since they earned a Michelin star. The service: I felt the service was friendlier and more personable the previous time I came here. The server has a bit of an attitude tonight with a slight air of pushiness. We still engaged the server with pleasant conversations yet the server gave off an air of- I set the rules, you eat. The server was also giving that intent stare at our bill as we signed the bill at the end of the night , intently watching what we write into the tip bar. There was also another server who kept walking by that had a bad body odor. The food: There were some stellar dishes. The charcoal udon - (pasta) dish was incredibly good. It was slightly spicy. I was in love with the medley of seafood bits mixed in it. 24 hrs copa - pork shoulder dish was also quite excellent. The saffron salsa added a bit of fragrant tone to the dish. Carne Crudo - this was a dish that has been around a long time. It is beef tartar with a mix of what tasted like pickled veggies that came up into this interesting texture of goodness that you scoop up using the crackers. Black truffle omelette - takes that Omurice omelette into a standalone dish. Omelette is served slightly runny. The flavor has that distinctive cheesy richness.

Perfect dinner. Celebrated my anniversary here and so glad I picked this place! We chose the omakase option, which was perfect. A beautiful array of shareable, creative bites and 3 different desserts(!!!) Our server was exceptional as well, and the whole atmosphere is lovely.

We visited Kissa for our Anniversary. Reservation is highly recommended. We selected the Omakase menu, and it's really a nice way to be surprised by the chef's selection for you. The atmosphere is cool casual with an air of subtle sophistication. The service is outstanding with great attention to your dining experience. It seems like the entire staff have visited our table at one point or another throughout the evening. The food is outstanding with complex flavours and a range of simple to exquisite plating presentations. It's delightful each time we visit, and Kissa Tanto deserves all the accolades.
