One of the places in Satara with historical significance. It is sad that its not maintained well. Definitely worth a visit as it does not take very long. You can drive 4W all the way till the top and then there are about 30 odd steps to go the top of the fort. The fort offers great views of the city and has lush greenery in the rainy season.

Visited Ajinkyatara Fort in monsoon — lush green views, misty hills, and peaceful vibes! The drive is scenic, fort clean and historic. Perfect for a short trek, photography, and weekend getaway near Satara.
Sujit — Google review
Ajinkyatara Fort, perched on one of Satara’s seven surrounding hills, is a blend of history, panoramic views, and serene atmosphere. Known as the "Fort of the Brave," it holds great significance in Maratha history, once serving as a capital under Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj. The trek to the fort is relatively easy and rewarding, with sweeping views of Satara city and the lush Sahyadri ranges. Though some parts of the fort are in ruins, the ancient gates, bastions, and temples still reflect its glorious past. It’s a must-visit for history lovers, trekkers, and anyone looking to enjoy peaceful hilltop vistas.

Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Museum, established in 1970 at Raviwar Peth, is a must-visit for those interested in the Maratha Empire and the reign of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The museum showcases a wide array of memorabilia, including luxury items, weaponry such as rifles and swords, as well as historical currencies like hon and shivrai.
This is a must visit place, esp in Satara. Needs lot of improvement and enhancement but start is great. Nice building, ample parking space.. In coming 5 years this attraction place shud be at diff level. Jai Shivaji

When I visited, half of the work of the museum was done and half was in progress in feb 2025. you have to pay for parking and entry tickets which is nominal. Newly constructed place. So you can see things which has been used at the time of shivaji maharaj like talwar, banduk, bhala and more.

Pleasant surprise to see such a good show on various armaments used by our ancestors... If you are a student of history or history aficionado, then it is a must visit...bring a pencil and sketch book as photos are not allowed... A quick tour will last for 1/2 hour...but it will not justify for this museum...

Char Bhinti is a serene and picturesque spot located near Ajinkyatara fort in Satara. It offers breathtaking views of the city, including the city lights at night. Visitors can enjoy the cool breeze and stunning vistas of Ajinkyatara fort, the road to Kaas, and NH4 Pune Bangalore highway. It's recommended to visit in the evening for a calming experience or during sunrise or sunset for an unforgettable sight.
This is another place which provides beautiful bird eye view over Satara after Ajinkyagad Fort. Although we visited it at night yet the view was auspicious. Disclaimer if you ever visit this avoid throwing garbage, its not cleaned which is making this place loose its beauty.
Pratik K — Google review
One of the best place and must visit place in satara. Yeh nahi dekha toh kya dekha. You can see whole satara city from this hillok. At night this place add cherry on the cake.
Shubham N — Google review
Chaar Bhinti does not feel like a historical or well-maintained tourist place. The area is littered with garbage, especially cigarette butts and alcohol bottles, which creates an unpleasant and unsafe environment. There's no proper parking space available, which adds to the inconvenience for visitors. The only positive aspect is the view between 7 PM to 8 PM, which is quite beautiful and peaceful. However, after that time, the place becomes uncomfortable due to the presence of litter and signs of alcohol consumption. It's not ideal for families or peaceful evening outings. Authorities should take steps to clean the area and maintain it properly for tourists and locals alike. --

View from top is very nice specially in the night. In the night consider by going car or auto. And ask auto to wait till you visit monument from safety purpose. One suggestion, no lights available in char bhinti smarak area. So you can't read any information about our freedom fighters.

You can see good view from there...(almost all Satara city )these are quite old monuments...good seating arrangement and lights..good for one time visit
Dr. N — Google review
Char Bhinti in Satara is a historic monument with deep connections to the Maratha period. Built by Chhatrapati Pratapsingh Maharaj, it was once used as an administrative office and has witnessed important events in history. Today, it stands as a heritage structure and a reminder of Satara’s royal past. The monument is simple yet elegant, with four beautifully constructed walls that give it its name. The place also offers a nice view of Satara city and nearby hills, making it a good spot for photography and quiet walks. Though not very large, it is significant for those interested in history and heritage. Maintenance could be better, but the monument still carries an aura of pride and legacy. A quick but worthwhile visit if you are exploring Satara and want to connect with its cultural and historical roots.

Highly recommended to visit with friends and family.

Sights & Landmarks
Sacred & Religious Sites
Shri Uttar Chidambaram Nataraj Temple is a magnificent Hindu temple dedicated to the Tandava Performance avatar of Lord Shiva as Lord Nataraja. Located in Satara, it is a popular destination for religious travelers. The temple's architecture resembles that of South Indian temples and is adorned with stone depictions of Bharatanatyam postures. Photography is strictly prohibited inside the temple, adding to its sacred ambiance.
This Temple has the amazing architecture and has the peaceful environment in surrounding nature. I felt overwhelmed after visiting this Temple. The all gods idols in this Temple 🛕 are divine, big and beautiful you can feel divine presence there.
Rahul K — Google review
The Shri Uttara Chidambaram Nataraja Mandir, located in Satara, Maharashtra, is a distinguished temple dedicated to Lord Nataraja, an embodiment of Lord Shiva performing the cosmic dance, Tandava. This temple is a faithful replica of the renowned Chidambaram Temple in Tamil Nadu, earning it the moniker “Uttara Chidambaram” or “Northern Chidambaram.” Established in 1985, the temple’s inception was inspired by Pujyasri Chandrasekarendra Saraswathi Mahaswamiji during his stay in Satara. The construction was a collaborative effort, with contributions from the state governments of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh, while Kerala provided the timber required for the structure. Renowned architect M. S. Ganapathi Sthapathi led the design, ensuring the temple’s adherence to traditional Dravidian architectural principles. The temple complex is notable for its intricate carvings and sculptures, including 180 representations of Bharatnatyam dance mudras. It houses several shrines dedicated to various deities, such as Adi Shankaracharya, Lord Ayyappa, Lord Hanuman, Radha-Krishna, the Navagrahas, and Lord Ganesha, reflecting a confluence of spiritual traditions. Situated along National Highway 4, the temple is easily accessible and serves as a significant spiritual and cultural landmark in the region. Its serene ambiance and architectural grandeur make it a must-visit destination for devotees and tourists alike.

I am from Tamil Nadu and was surprised to see this temple (Tamil Architecture) while passing through the highway. Turned the car back and visited. It is a miniature of Chidambaram Natarajar Kanaga Sabai. Great experience
Varadha R — Google review
It's a very peaceful place consisting 4 walls made by four state Govt.s Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh , Tamilnadu and Karnataka . Camera inside the temple is strictly prohibited. It's a place to feel rather than capture in mobile .A must visit place.

Natraj Mandir in Satara, also known as Uttara Chidambaram Temple, is one of the most peaceful and beautifully designed temples in the city. Dedicated to Lord Natraj, it reflects South Indian Dravidian architecture with tall gopurams, detailed carvings, and a calm spiritual atmosphere. The temple is clean, well-maintained, and easily accessible from the main highway. I like how it represents unity between different states, as it was built with the support of several southern states. Visiting the temple early morning feels very divine and refreshing. It is an ideal place for prayer, meditation, and appreciating traditional art and culture. In my opinion, Natraj Mandir is not only a religious place but also a cultural landmark of Satara, bringing peace and pride to everyone who visits.
Suraj S — Google review
Good south indian style built temple of god Natarajan, located on pandharpur route. Complete vibe of south Indian style temple, having 4 doors marked based on donation come from various States. Must visit for clean and call environment.
Mangesh P — Google review
Very calm and peaceful temple. Gives a divine feel of south. Pandits sitting in the main premises are very good and explain about the temple in a great manner
SHAILENDRA G — Google review
A peaceful temple of Lord Natraj which is known as an Avatar of Lord Shiva and god of Dance, situated right in the middle of the Satara city. The art works are fascinating and interesting. The temple has openings from 4 sides with exactly same design and style. The architecture of the temple will remind of the temples from South India. There are around 7-8 small temples of various Gods and Goddesses situated inside the temple.

A must visit place if you are a hardcore non veg or village food lover. Authentic Maharashtrian food like Bhakari and Thaleepeeth. Do not accept card payment but UPI payment is acceptable. Rates are bit high but for qualities worth.

The ambiance is really good and the food is simply great.... There are two sections indoor and outdoor, I enjoyed the outdoor co it was overcast with cold breeze full time during our lunch there..... The best part about this hotel is that they have a section where they have kept all the materials to make a 'Pan' take all the ingredients and make a custom made pan yourself 😉

Annoying taste. This hotel was known for its taste. Today you get stale peanuts, mutton thali full of tasteless masala. Both veg and non veg thali had no taste. Gave us rice full of colours and no taste. Few said management has changed few said cook has changed. God knows why the quality has gone down drastically.

We ordered Misal Pav, Batata Vada Sample, and Pav Bhaji — and everything was absolutely delicious! The highlight for us was definitely the Wada Sample — perfectly crisp and flavorful. We were also looking forward to trying Puri Bhaji, but just a heads-up: it’s only available till 12 PM, so plan accordingly. The only minor issue was limited four-wheeler parking, which can be a bit inconvenient. But overall, the taste and quality of food more than made up for it. Highly recommended!

We visited Chandravilas for breakfast during our stay in Satara, drawn in by the many glowing reviews and its local reputation. Unfortunately, our experience didn’t quite live up to the hype. We tried a variety of items — Puri Bhaji was the highlight of the meal and definitely the best among the lot. However, the Misal Pav was quite average, lacking the punch of authentic Kolhapuri flavors. The Vada Pav was underwhelming, and the Sheera had a peculiar flavour that made it hard to enjoy. Even the tea and coffee were below expectations. The place seems to thrive on nostalgia and name recognition, but the taste and quality of food felt inconsistent. While service was prompt and the place clean, we wouldn’t call it a must-visit based on our experience. A decent pitstop if you’re nearby, but don’t go in expecting the best breakfast in Satara.

Best place in Satara for breakfast. Best Puri Bhaji I ever had ! Misal, Pohe and Tea were quite tasty too. Being bang in the centre of the city, the place is always crowded, so you may have to share the table with others. Service is very quick. Another good thing is many items can be ordered in half portion too, so you can try multiple things at a same time. Great experience indeed, highly recommend. Update: We tried masala dosa and Uttapam in second visit. Both tasted very well, chutney and sambar was great too.

This is one of the oldest decent cafe in Satara and not some place which serve refrigerated food. They have a small menu but quality is really good. Pizza and Pav bhaaji served here are my favourite. I didn't like the cold coffee though. Portion of the dishes served make justice to the prices which are on a little higer side. Staff is very polite and working here since long. South Indian restaurant
Vithal Kamats Satara is a popular restaurant located on the YSPM Technical Campus, Wadhe. Known for its vegetarian cuisine, it offers a wide range of Indian dishes and fast food. The restaurant is particularly famous for its South Indian specialties such as Idli Sambar, Mysore Masala Dosa, and Uttapam variations. It's an ideal spot for breakfast with a diverse menu to choose from.
After a recent visit to Vitthal Kamat, I had the pleasure of savoring some classic South Indian dishes that truly lived up to their reputation. Here’s my take on the experience: Idli Sambhar: The Idli was soft, fluffy, and absolutely perfect – it had that melt-in-your-mouth texture, just like a good idli should. Paired with the sambhar and coconut chutney, it created the ideal balance of flavors. Poha: The poha was light yet packed with flavors. It was seasoned well with mustard seeds, curry leaves, and a hint of spice. Upma: The upma was another highlight of the meal. It had the perfect consistency, not too dry and not too mushy. The dish was aromatic with the flavors of ghee and mustard seeds, which really stood out. It was a satisfying dish. The restaurant’s take on South Indian cuisine was authentic, fresh, and full of flavor. The portions were generous, and the food was served piping hot. The ambiance was welcoming, and the staff were friendly and attentive. If you’re craving traditional South Indian comfort food, Vitthal Kamat is definitely worth a visit. I’ll be coming back for more!

Extremely disappointed with the service. We sat at the table for over 30 minutes, and not a single staff member bothered to come and take our order. Forget taking the order – no one even gave us a menu card. It felt like we were completely invisible. If this is how they treat their customers, it's no surprise people walk out. Pathetic service – definitely not coming back and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. They seriously need to improve their staff attitude and basic hospitality

Delicious Food & Great Portion Size! Visited Manas Restro recently and had an amazing experience. We ordered Manas Special Chicken, Paratha, Butter Roti, Indrayani Rice, Jowar Bhakri, and Solkadhi. The Manas Special Chicken was absolutely delicious rich in flavor and perfectly cooked. One full pot easily serves 3–4 people, totally worth the price! The Butter Roti and Jowar Bhakri were both really good and complemented the chicken perfectly. However, I wouldn’t recommend the Paratha as it was too thick and heavy. The Indrayani Rice served with ghee was superb pairing it with the chicken made for the perfect combo! We ended our meal with Solkadhi, and it was so refreshing and flavorful a perfect way to finish the meal. Overall, great taste, generous portions, and a must-try for anyone who loves authentic flavors!

I recently visited Manas , and I must say, it’s a true gem for anyone looking for fresh, flavorful vegetarian dishes. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The décor had a cozy, modern touch, making it a perfect spot for both casual dining and special occasions.. The menu was full of exciting options, with a good mix of familiar comfort foods and creative twists on traditional dishes. For the main course, I went for the Breakfast i have tried Dosa And Idli..The spice level was just right.. were cooked to perfection—soft yet still maintaining a bite...What really stood out were the desserts.. unexpected delight! Service was top-notch.. with the staff being both friendly and knowledgeable about the dishes...They were eager to offer recommendations based on dietary preferences or flavor profiles...Overall, Manas is a fantastic choice for anyone, whether you’re a vegetarian or not.
