Belgrade

Belgrade is the capital of the southeast European country of Serbia. Its most significant landmark is the Beogradska Tvrđava, an imposing fortress at the confluence of the Danube and the Sava rivers. The fort is a testament to the city’s strategic importance to the Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman, Serbian and Austrian empires, and it's now the site of several museums as well as Kalemegdan, a vast park.

Specialty Museums
The Nikola Tesla Museum in Belgrade is a tribute to the life and work of the renowned electrical engineer, Nikola Tesla. Housed in a charming residential villa, it showcases his personal effects, instruments, and original drawings that revolutionized energy production and distribution. The museum offers both memorial exhibits and interactive displays featuring 3D computer-generated models of Tesla's inventions.
Since im a science subject fan,i was excited to visit this museum. We had a reservation so it was a skip the line entry. Entrance fee was 100 serbian dinar for a group of more than 10.Its interesting to see Nilola Tesla's ideas put into a beautiful work.
R.A G — Google review
The plus side - it’s set up very well to learn more about the history, life and work of Tesla, and there are some great opportunities to see working models of some of his inventions, along with personal artifacts. The down side is that the museum is fairly small, and with large groups, it can be pretty crowded. There is also no way to secure tickets ahead of time, unless you’re with a larger group, and you can only pay in cash.
Lindsay B — Google review
Big disappointment. 1) at least the price is ok , 800 dinars , it’s NOT possible to book online or NOT able to pay with CARD , so you have to wait outside in the rain until they will let you know if you can enter or not since the tour can only accommodate maximum 60 people. I’m not sure why they don’t count 60 people that enter at the gate and then tell the other ones to come back in one hour instead of letting us wait in the rain for an hour. 2) this is actually a very small exhibition, I think the exhibition area is the size of an apartment. It feels more like a high school class lab room than an actual museum. The guide told us that the city is building a bigger and better museum because is very small. ( I think the size has been okay until Elon Musk became famous with the Tesla cars so people started knowing about Nicola Tesla, this is probably the reason why 99% of the people knows about Nicola Tesla) 3) 60 people get crammed on plastic foldable chair chairs in a small room. You feel like a sardine and then they show you a 15 minute video made 10 years ago about the life of Nicola Tesla. 4) then you have 15 minutes where the guide turns on 3 or 4 instruments that Tesla invented. Nothing special if you go to any serious science museum you we’ll see a better and bigger version of this instruments. Not mentioning that you are climbed into a very small room that you can’t even move. 5) then you have another 10 minutes to see a few objects that belonged to Nicola Tesla and then after 45 minutes .
Scotch&Soda — Google review
The museum itself is tiny, they only accept local currency in cash. No forex or card accepted. There is no online ticket to purchase, you need to keep standing in queue for hours for hourly slot. Try to avoid last hours as if its full, regardless of time you been standing they wont allow you to come as they can accept people more then its capacity. Once you are inside, the tour is good, they guide you everywhere
* B — Google review
The museum takes 45 minutes to go around. But that's mainly because you have to wait 5-10 minutes to go through ticketing (and they only accept cash rather than card), and then you have to wait for everyone to get seated. They pack a lot of people into this space so it takes a long time to be ready. The video goes for 15 minutes and probably could be updated and sped up. But realistically you should be abke visit the museum and just skip the video if you want to. They do some good experiment demonstrations, but again, could probably run them twice an hour get more people through the facility - there winds up being so many people in the group that not everyone gets a decent view. overall it's not bad and gives an inside into the man and some of his activities but it's a very small museum.
Brent J — Google review
Just don’t bother to get there . We were waiting for 3 hours as only 60 people can enter each time . You pay only cash and watching for half an hour something that you could easily find on YouTube , then the tour guide shares live some experiments (for kids) and then on the same floor you can check a few personal things of Tesla and his ashes 😏 Just don’t waste your time and money . Belgrade is beautiful choose something else .
Barbara Z — Google review
Interesting experience very educating. The visits can only be done in guided groups but even on a busy day the wait was not too long. The experiments were fun. A lot of personal items of Tesla are on display. I do not recommend this museum for very young children since there’s a 15 min film and a small 20-30 min tour. They might get bored and interrupt the experience for others.
Zoe S — Google review
Not worth the visit. A lot of waiting for a video made in 2015. Explanation not in good English easy to understand. 60 people in each tour you cannot see things well. Not enough seats. I’ve learned more from him in science museums. You cannot pay by card!!! You have to pay cash and local currency!!! You cannot book and then a disappointment.

Fortress
Sights & Landmarks
Nestled atop a dramatic ridge, the Belgrade Fortress, also known as Kalemegdan Park, is an essential starting point for any exploration of this vibrant city. This historic site not only boasts stunning views over the confluence of two rivers but also serves as a sprawling park filled with lush greenery. The fortress itself is divided into Upper and Lower City sections, each brimming with attractions like the iconic Victor Monument, Military Museum, Nebojsa Tower, and Saint Petka's Church.
Excellent spot to explore, discover and stroll. Get those steps in because you could easily do 10,000 just exploring the citadel alone. Add in other amusements like the museums, medieval sports and restaurants and you could make a fun day of it
Chris B — Google review
Must vist place in belgrade serbia. The Fortress is a must visit when in the city. Originally built by the Romans in the 1st century AD, the fortress has seen countless empires rise and fall including Byzantine, Hungarian, Ottoman, and Austrian, each leaving its own mark. The Ottomans, who ruled Belgrade for nearly two centuries, rebuilt and expanded large parts of the fortress. You can still see traces of their presence in the design of the gates, the remains of the mosque near the Upper Town, and the general layout that reflects their military architecture. The surrounding Kalemegdan Park adds charm to the visit, offering shaded paths, sculptures, and views across the rivers. Key highlights within the fortress include the Victor Monument, and the Military Museum, which houses weapons from various periods of Serbian and Balkan. Great history, great view, great vepons

Clean. Well maintained. Free entry. Has free public toilets. Good place to explore and have a walk. The views of New Belgrade and the Danube are amazing.

It is a beautiful place. No entry ticket to most of the places. View of the rivers is beautiful. It was cloudy during our stasis we missed sunset. Chapel is worth visiting

Beautiful, I mean a must visit in Belgrade and free, lots of tanks and anti tanks outside, nice park, read the small signs along the walking it will tell you more about the history of it.
MatteoLuciano — Google review
We went here on a walking tour of Belgrade. It is well laid out and provides a great setting to learn about the history of the area, city, and country. There are plaques throughout with some information but so much can be understood just by looking a the location to understand why it was a critical place for a fortification.
Thomas W — Google review
Cool views of the city, some armored vehicles on display at the gates, nothing too special. I liked reading the informative labels throughout the fortress, they were detailed. You can climb on some of the walls, other than that there are some basketball/tennis courts right outside that don’t really match the vibe.
A K — Google review
I went here on the 31/8/2025 and I had such a bad experience. The park looked like it was from a war zone with trash, used syringes, faeces, urine and weeds everywhere. Really third world country conditions. It was full of people begging and homeless people that were screaming at the top of their lungs for no reason and the area generally felt really unsafe. I would not recommend visiting it under no circumstances. So sad

Nestled on a picturesque river peninsula, Ada Ciganlija is the ultimate leisure destination in Belgrade, especially during the summer months. This stunning locale boasts a 4.2 km long artificial lake that serves as a playground for both kids and adults. Here, you can indulge in various activities such as sailing, swimming, and waterskiing or simply bask in the sun on its sandy beaches.
Ada Ciganlija is the ultimate summer escape in Belgrade! It’s the perfect place to lie out and soak up the sun when the weather’s nice. People love coming here for a good walk, a run, or even a bike or skate ride. There are plenty of cozy cafes and restaurants around too, making it a great spot to relax and grab a bite after some outdoor fun. The only real downside is that it can get super busy on the weekends, especially when the weather is nice, and if you’re planning on swimming, know that the water is quite dirty. Overall, it’s a fantastic spot to escape the busy city life!
İsidora — Google review
It’s a beautiful, peaceful spot with calm areas for relaxing and lively beach bars full of energy. The water is soft, clean, and the perfect temperature, with lifeguards on duty for safety. It reminded me of Manhattan Beach — you can rent bikes and ride the 7km path that circles the whole area. It’s active, fun, and full of life. Once an island, now a peninsula, Ada has a rich history and is a local favorite in the summer. A perfect place to swim, chill, and enjoy Belgrade outdoors!

Orthodox church
Sights & Landmarks
Nestled in the vibrant Vracar district of Belgrade, the Temple of Saint Sava stands as a monumental testament to Byzantine-inspired architecture. This 20th-century marvel is not only one of the largest Orthodox churches globally but also features an awe-inspiring central dome that dominates the skyline, making it a must-see for any traveler. Its grandeur and intricate design draw visitors from all corners, eager to experience its spiritual ambiance and historical significance.
It is one of the top attractions in the capital. It is massive and very peaceful. A very classic Cathedral of Orthodox religion. The top floor visually is breathtaking. The bottom floor is more like visual images on the walls. Make sure that you visit. Totally recommended.
Mustafa A — Google review
A mustsee when visiting Belgrade! This is truly one of the prettiest churches I’ve ever seen and that’s coming from someone who’s only seen churches in America and Mexico. Everywhere I turned, there was another piece of art to admire; it was deeply moving, especially with the soft singing in the background. Downstairs, there’s also a newer art exhibition that beautifully complements the main space. I loved seeing the attention to detail and the richness of the religious artwork throughout. Absolutely a spot you shouldn’t miss.
Emily B — Google review
Beautiful church inside and outside with many icons and an epicenter of Orthodox Christianity. If you are not knowledgeable of Serbia or Orthodox Christianity, would recommend a tour guide, especially if you are from a different culture. I visited many churches alone, but some tourists don't understand the history and a guide would be a good idea.
Spencer B — Google review
One of Belgrade’s most iconic landmarks, and in my opinion it deserves even more international recognition. The Temple of Saint Sava is one of the largest Orthodox churches in the world, built on the site where Saint Sava’s relics were burned by the Ottomans in 1595. The idea to construct a grand church in his honor dates back to the 19th century, but the actual building process only began in 1935 and continued, through wars, occupations, and political changes, until the 21st century. The exterior is monumental, while the interior is truly breathtaking: golden mosaics, marble details, and a serene underground crypt that is worth visiting on its own. Easily accessible, beautifully illuminated at night, and one of the absolute must-see places in Belgrade.
Patrizia P — Google review
The most beautiful, The Church of Saint Sava is a Serbian Orthodox church in the Vračar plateau in Belgrade, Serbia. It is the largest Orthodox church in Serbia, one of the largest Eastern Orthodox churches and it ranks among the largest churches in the world. You woll be lost in its beauty once you are inside. A must to visit place in Belgrade
* B — Google review
I went here on the 31/8/2025 at 8:00 am sharp since I wanted to see the church without the crowds and I must say this place really disappointed me. The square in front of it it’s completely destroyed and the floor is shattered. It’s full of weeds, trash, faeces, urine and used syringes and it looked like it was never cared for or cleaned. In front to the entrance if the church there were many homeless people. Many young and many well past they nineties. It was so sad seeing those people coming to h crying and begging for food. It shattered my heart and left me with a heavy heart for my whole stay in Belgrade. The church is beautiful inside but it’s unfortunately not looked after properly. It was very crowded and there were pieces of trash and debris everywhere. It looked like it lacked maintenance and the staff wouldn’t stop staring at me and talking with themself while they were pointing at me and making obvious rude comments. It made me feel uncomfortable and unsafe. If you are in Belgrade I suggest you coming here but beware it won’t be as you may expect it unfortunately. Such a shame
Adriano — Google review
Saint Sava Cathedral in Belgrade is majestic. Its imposing structure dominates the skyline, while the golden interior is impressive. The beautifully landscaped garden at the front adds a serene charm, making the entire site a great destination

Very impressive mosaic work done in here. It just blows me away. Unbelievable to think there around 50 million mosaic pieces in this church. Impressive.

This is a late review for a tasting menu I had late 2023. Beautiful building and amazing decor. Great service, and great wines. Menu started with a couple of appetizers consisting of spicy cheese salad, pihtija and burek - all very tasty! After that, we were served a range of different and unique dishes like "white kacamak", popara, duvec, beans, sarma, meat and potatoes, teas, and different desserts. Really happy with the visit and highly recommend it.

Tri šešira is a historic restaurant in Belgrade, Serbia, dating back to 1864. It's known for its rustic yet elegant ambiance and traditional Serbian cuisine. The menu features barbecue specialties like pljeskavica and Karadordeva steak, along with local delights such as ajvar and kajmak. The bohemian atmosphere is enhanced by live musicians performing traditional tunes.
We really enjoyed our lunch here!!! The lamb and veal roasts were both amazing, as was the blueberry pie, and wine selection. Service was wonderful, and the musicians serenading was a nice touch too. It’s in a beautiful part of Belgrade too. Would thoroughly recommend!
Neharika S — Google review
Great restaurant! The staff was super nice with good food recommendations. The music and overall ambiance is amazing, and the food... delicious. I took a plancha in appetizer, roasted veal and baklava in dessert (big portions). Strongly recommend
Alexis G — Google review
Popular traditional restaurant with a history where many celebrities visited. Food and service is good but nothing extraordinary given the relatively higher price you pay. There is also live music which you have to pay tip for. Overall may be worth the visit once, if you have already tried local Serbian food in abundant of other places in town and want to try a new place. Payment with card is possible!

Loved the Shopska Salad and the tres leches but the meat platter was super heavy and fatty. The service was so slow too but the atmosphere of the place is so nice and authentic.

A lovely setting in the heart of Belgrade’s authentic district. Good service and lovely music to add to the ambience. We had some lovely salad, corn bread and meat dishes. We originally were seated inside, however due to the patrons smoking indoors , the staff quickly moved us outside as we needed fresh air.

Historical restaurant to have Serbian food. Excellent mixed grill (on the menu it says it’s for 2 people but I would say it is more for 3-4 or even more if you take appetizers). Service is not the best though. Still highly recommended, we came back twice.

Very modern restaurant, with a very nice atmosphere. The reservation was easily done online and the service across our entire evening was flawless. The food was simply excellent, the chef creates absolutely wonderful courses with serbian flavours. This was absolutely top quality (combined with a great matching selection of wines) and could measure itself with the very best and finest that France has to offer. This restaurant is a must when visiting Belgrade, one of the finest restaurants the city has to offer. Wonderfully talented team here, looking forward to what they create in the future :).

Great set for a reasonable price. Two and a half hours flew by unnoticed while we were trying all this food. It was enough to feel full, almost to the point of overeating. Some dishes were amazing, some were not so impressive (but my partner had the opposite opinion about the dish I didn’t like, so it’s a matter of taste), but overall, the experience—with the atmosphere and attentive waiters—was delightful. I would come back to try new sets.
Anna R — Google review
Wow wow wow!! The most spectacular food I’ve eaten in Belgrade. Went there 2 night in a row, tried many different dishes, everything was exquisite. Octopus was amazing, lamb soft as butter, steak to die for, desserts absolutely wonderful. The only thing I wouldn’t recommend is the beet burger, was a bit on a dry side for me but still very tasty. Also, everything is reasonably priced and the ambience is quite lovely.

Enso is truly a gem among Belgrade’s fine dining restaurants. From the moment you walk in, the elegant and modern interior sets the tone for an extraordinary experience. The atmosphere is sophisticated yet warm, making it equally suitable for a special dinner, business meeting, or a night out with friends. The service is impeccable – attentive, professional, and always ready with thoughtful recommendations. You never feel rushed, but everything flows smoothly and effortlessly. The food is the real highlight: beautifully plated, creative, and full of surprising yet perfectly balanced flavors. Signature dishes like the grilled octopus, beef tenderloin with demiglace and berries, or the lamb roulade show just how far the chefs push creativity while keeping everything delicious. Even the dessert, such as the lemon tart, is unique and unforgettable. Enso is more than just a restaurant – it’s a culinary journey that leaves you inspired and eager to return. A special thanks to our host Nenad, whose warmth, professionalism, and personal touch made the evening even more memorable.

The restaurant's location at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers makes it easily accessible from the city center with ample parking available. The spacious and well-furnished interior with high ceilings creates an airy atmosphere filled with natural light.
Let’s start with the food, gosh was the food so good. We decided to purchase the unlimited tasting experience and every single thing we ordered tasted amazing. The service then quickly followed on, with bringing the food as soon as it was ready to being fast and having amazing memory when putting in the order. It looks so nice in food with basic amenities such as toilet, outdoor seating and many more. Come here to have an amazing experience!

We had a wonderful evening with a truly impressive unlimited menu experience. The fact that the cuisine is quite similar to Turkish food made it incredibly easy for us to feel at home — but at the end of the day, great taste speaks every language. The flavors were simply outstanding. If you’re in Belgrade and want to try some authentic Balkan culinary highlights, this place absolutely deserves a visit. Special thanks to Sraja, who took care of our table with utmost professionalism and kindness. He’s genuinely one of the best waiters I’ve ever met — attentive, quick, and incredibly polite. Ended our trip with this as the final dinner and it did not disappoint. Highly recommend the unlimited option. Lots of great Serbian cuisine options, and we ate all we could handle. A few of our favorites were the little bacon wrap skewers, fried zucchini, the bread, chicken skewer, beetroot carpaccio, and the cheesecake, but there are plenty of great dishes to share. Straja was great!

We love Ambar. We have been multiple times to the locations in Washington, DC and Chicago. This is our second time in Belgrade so we had to come back. As usual, the food and service were top! Our server, Straja, was incredibly friendly!! I only wish that it was 100% nonsmoking.

The ambiance is minimalist yet inviting, providing a tranquil setting for patrons to enjoy the carefully crafted fusion cuisine.
Came here for lunch, took on the heritage tasting menu, food was extremely delicious, desserts were brilliant. Service was excellent, and the ambiance is OK. Must try in Belgrade, on their way to Michelin. Will definitely come back again.

Very clasy place that deserves the mishelim star for sure. The service was perfect and food was beyond excellent. Definitly a place to try. They definitely deserve the Michelin star! Staff is amazing, very attentive and kind. We tried the heritage menu with wine parings. Every bite was so magical, our server explained everything about the dish before we got to try it, which added an extra depth to the dish.

We visited the restaurant for an eight-course dinner, and the overall experience was truly outstanding. Each dish felt carefully crafted, well-balanced, and absolutely delicious. Personally, I found all the courses excellent, while one of my friends was less impressed with a single dish. What stood out, however, was how genuinely interested the staff were in our feedback and how open they were to constructive criticism – a rare and admirable quality that elevated the whole experience. The wine pairings were flawless, perfectly complementing the food. Service was both warm and professional, and we felt well taken care of throughout the evening. The only downside was that the background music was occasionally a little too loud, which made it difficult to hear the staff when they were presenting certain dishes and ingredients. A small adjustment here would have made the experience even better. All in all, the restaurant delivered a memorable evening with exquisite food, perfect wine pairings, and a team that truly cares about its guests. We left with a strong desire to return.

Had a great experience at Homa with delicious food and great service. The star of the show for me was the beef tartare which was perfectly made. Would definitely recommend Homa for anyone looking for high end food in Belgrade.

I really enjoyed the restaurant — the service was excellent, the food was amazing, and I especially appreciated the option to order from the menu instead of being limited to set menus, which is often the case in Michelin-starred places.

This was, without a doubt, the best dining experience of my life and the best food I’ve ever had. We chose Homa’s tasting menu and were not disappointed. It was a journey through Homa’s own story, while also offering a deep dive into traditional Serbian cuisine, all presented in a modern and thoughtful way. The service was outstanding; friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful. The staff were happy to offer suggestions tailored to our personal preferences, which made the experience feel even more special. Even the restrooms were spotless, well-equipped, and reflected the restaurant’s overall elegance and high standards. You will not be disappointed. Everyone should experience Homa at least once in their life.
