Rimini

Rimini is a city on the Adriatic coast, in Italy’s Emilia-Romagna region. It's known for its beachside nightclubs and shallow waters. South of the center, the Malatestiano Temple is a 15th-century reconstruction of an old Franciscan church, now a mausoleum for Sigismondo Pandolfo Malatesta, a local nobleman. Nearby, the Malatesta-built Castel Sismondo is a medieval fortress now used for cultural events.

1Borgo San Giuliano

Nestled just a stone's throw away, Borgo San Giuliano is a charming slice of Rimini's history that captivates visitors with its vibrant atmosphere. Once a humble fishing village on the northern banks of the Marecchia River, this delightful area has transformed into a hidden gem along the Adriatic Riviera. In fact, it narrowly escaped demolition in the late 1970s when plans were made to replace it with modern residential developments.

Castel Sismondo is a 15th-century fortress located in piazza Malatesta, named after Sigismondo Pandolfo Malatesta, the lord of Rimini at that time. The castle has been revitalized to become a cultural hub and hosts a semi-weekly market, exhibitions, and events.
A very small castle that you can walk in the gardens which we did. Due to our short time we haven't been in the Fellini museum, but we got to walk around it and you can walk through the main door in the garden of the castle. The castle it belonged to Malatesta family, one of the richest in Rimini. When we went we were pleased to see the fountains were on with mist spray.

Castel Sismondo is a beautiful Renaissance-era fortress located in the heart of Rimini. It was built in the 15th century by Sigismondo Pandolfo Malatesta, one of the most powerful lords of the region, both as a residence and a stronghold. The castle’s design reflects both military strength and artistic ambition, blending defensive features with elegant architectural details. Today, it stands as a cultural landmark, hosting exhibitions and events, while preserving the legacy of Rimini's noble past. A stunning site that’s definitely worth visiting for its history, atmosphere, and beauty.

Unfortunately, Castel Sismondo is closing in the noon time, I assume for siesta and I didn’t make it to see it inside. Hopefully next time. Outside is beautiful though with the water in front of it.

I'm speechless. The castle is unique, the way they exposed Fellini's art is really amazing and worth visiting. I love art of all kinds and this place fullfield my soul.
Stela P — Google review
Nice building but the expectation of the castle , the inside was all about the filmmaker fellini. My bad. But if you like the history of film a must visit. Within the ticket there is 1 extra museum included.
Ducati D — Google review
We got there around 3pm about a hour and a half before closing, there is a Federico Fillini Museum exhibition on at the moment which is stunning, there didn't seem to be access to see any other parts of the castle and restricted to the exhibition areas inside, still worth a visit. Tickets included another venue.
Dave M — Google review
Nice but not all building for visiting. There is now museum Fellini.

We did not go inside but we did love the architecture from the outside. Worth seeing when in Rimini.

Bridge
Ponte di Tiberio is a 2,000-year-old bridge in Rimini that stands as a remarkable relic of Roman architecture. It is located at the end of a canal running from the beach through to Parco XXV Aprile. The bridge, also known as the Bridge of Augustus, was constructed in 20 BC and remains in excellent condition. Nearby attractions include the Renaissance cathedral of Tempio Malatestiano and Borgo San Giuliano.
Old Roman Bridge still in excellent condition. Currently just for pedestrians. No entrance fee. Great views from just down either side the canal. Definitely a must see when visiting Rimini.
Paul H — Google review
A good old architecture bridge. Good for a walk. Some nice restaurants are nearby. You can see a lot of locals doing yoga in the garden nearby. At night when lights are on it looks more beautiful. Not a top place to visit but if you are Rimini then it's good for a short walking tour towards this bridge.
Ashi — Google review
This bridge was completed in 12AD, that is OLD and it's history through the ages is remarkable. It is an easy walk from downtown and worth 30 minutes to stroll across and say you walked where so much history has taken place.
Lisa W — Google review
Worth seeing when in Rimini. When walking there be sure to walk with someone as there are some homeless people sleeping under the small bridges walking distance from this Historic Bridge. They sleep close by.
Dalene B — Google review
One of the highlights of a walking tour of the Roman sights of Rimini - it is amazing to think that this bridge has stood for over 2000 years. The surroundings are well landscaped, and it is worth crossing over to see the murals in the Borgo San Giuliano.
David W — Google review
Beautiful place, worth a visit with all the surrounding streets. 🙂

Absolutely gorgeous bridge: to see it and the views from it. Also, it is accesible with a double buggy and it is pedestrian only, so it is a great spot to visit with small children. Still, watch out for the bikes.

History Museums
The City Museum in Rimini is a treasure trove of historical artifacts and artworks. The museum showcases ancient surgical tools, medieval art, fashion illustrations, and more. Visitors can explore the new archaeological section featuring exceptional surgical instruments found in the House. The Art Gallery within the museum displays an array of paintings, sculptures, ceramics, tapestries, and jewelry including masterpieces from the Rimini school of the fourteenth century.
It was nice to visit the museum after the visiting the Surgeons house as we have seen the reconstruction house of the ancient site, and the original objects including the medical instruments. The museum houses a lot of mosaics, art paintings, tapestries and frescoes from early Middle Ages to 15th century. Is located in the old Jesuit monastery, and is on 4 floors. There's a lift too, on all floors. Opening times: From Tuesday to Sunday and holiday: 10.00 am - 1.00 pm and 4 pm - 7 pm Closed on working Mondays On July and August also on Wednesday and Friday evening: from 9 am to 11 pm

Fantastic museum and much larger than expected so leave yourself plenty of time. I loved how detailed the displays were and very much appreciated the English translations! The docents were very friendly and chatty- telling us about their favourite pieces.
Kathryn W — Google review
Really worth visiting. Museum has artifacts ranging from ancient to current times. It took us three hours to see it all. Temporary exhibition was stunning too. People working there are really friendly and helpful, even if not all of them speak English. If you plan to visit, be aware of the siesta from 1 PM till 4 PM and get yourself lunch in one of nearby restaurants

The State Museum of San Marino, or Museo di Stato, can be a worthwhile visit for those interested in the history, culture, and art of San Marino. The museum provides insights into San Marino's rich heritage, covering archaeological finds, historical artifacts, and artworks that span various periods. It offers a cultural experience, showcasing the artistic and historical aspects of this small and unique republic. If you have an interest in archaeology, the museum features artifacts from prehistoric and Roman times, giving you a glimpse into the early history of the region. The ethnographic section provides a look into the daily life, traditions, and customs of the people of San Marino. If you have an interest in coins and currency, the numismatic section displays historical currencies used in San Marino.
Teodor B — Google review
Really a museum not to be missed and perfectly complements the Surgeon's House that is included in the price. For a city museum, even allowing the rich history that Rimini and so many Italian cities have, i was struck by the depth and breadth of the exhibits which are carefully and thoughtfully curated to dig into and tell the story of Rimini's history. Even being in there for nearly 2 hours we ran out of time and missed out on one level and some of the archealogy we had to do at pace. There are some truly spectacular mosaics here, its great to see the recreations of the Surgeon's house, but as a British tourist its always great to see and understand more about Italy's rich and less covered medieval history.
Nathan L — Google review
A very decent place, 4 floors of history of the area and an unbelievable archeological site. Highly recommended
Iren O — Google review
Great museum, very well invested, huge selection of artifacts with modern display. I hope more people will visit here. Staff are kind, helpful and very friendly 😊
Nicky J — Google review
You can easily spend hours in here! There are so many interesting Roman artefacts and stories. There was an art installation and a temporary exhibition on pandemic diseases. We had reduced ticket for 5 eur because the second floor was closed at the time.

Restaurant
Italian restaurant
Osteria de Borg is a charming restaurant tucked away on Via Forzieri, known for its traditional and casual dining experience. It's popular among locals and visitors seeking flavorful, slow-cooked dishes made with local ingredients and handmade pasta. The restaurant offers a variety of specialties such as piandina bread with assorted cheeses and succulent ravioli. With a beautiful courtyard for outdoor dining and spacious rooms adorned with prints and Rimini proverbs, the ambiance is inviting.
A cozy spot nestled in the heart of the old town, with a charming atmosphere that invites you to linger. While the waitstaff didn’t seem particularly enthusiastic during my visit, the service was efficient and the food arrived impressively quickly. I only ordered a selection of appetizers, but they were flavorful and satisfying enough to leave me feeling full. I’d be happy to return to try more of the menu—there’s definitely potential here for a great meal.
Evelina V — Google review
Absolutely delicious and rustic home-style dining. From the thick rolled ravioli, to the simple bread side, and the hearty stuffed zucchini, Osteria de Borg delivered on a filling and delicious classic experience. It was really lovely and homey.
Kaitlyn K — Google review
A cozy restaurant with great atmosphere inside. Really gem of Rimini. Located in a nice small street, away from a more noisy area. All dishes were fantastic! Meat tartar had a consistency of a pate, very nice in the mouth, without any smell of meat itself. It might seem very home cooked from the fotos, but the taste was insane! Really suggest to pass by if you’r in the area.

Authentic Romagnolo Excellence at Osteria de Borg. Nestled in the charming Borgo San Giuliano neighbourhood of Rimini, Osteria de Borg is a true gem that honours the deep culinary traditions of Emilia-Romagna. During my visit, I sampled four standout main dishes, each one a masterclass in flavour, technique, and regional authenticity. The **Tagliatelle al Sugo Piselli** was deceptively simple—perfectly al dente pasta paired with a delicate tomato and pea sauce that felt both comforting and refined. The **Gnocchi di Patate Gialle di Gemmano** with “Mora Romagnola” sausage, mascarpone cream, and peppers was rich and satisfying. The sweetness of the peppers perfeclty balances the richness of the cream and sausage. The **Cappelletti in Brodo di Gallina** was traditional and soulful, with a clear, flavourful broth and perfectly folded pasta. Finally, the **Cappelletti dell’Osteria alla Carote** added a gentle sweetness that made it surprisingly unique while staying rooted in classic technique. Sweet and savoury in harmonious dialogue. Service was warm and attentive (but not intrusive), and the atmosphere struck just the right note between rustic and welcoming. Unpretentious and casual, yet of the highest quality, Osteria de Borg simply does everything right. A must-visit for anyone seeking real Romagnolo cuisine.

Typical Romagnola tavern with ground specialties. Nice service, delicious food. I had pasta with potatoes, tomatoes, zucchini etc. (13€) and it was very tasty. The portion size was sufficient and left a little room for amazing desert (7€). Definitely recommend.

Visited in July 2012 — A tucked-away osteria just off Viale Tiberio in Rimini, with warm indoor dining and a small outdoor terrace. The chitarre crudaiola (home-made spaghetti with tomato, black olives, tuna, pine nuts, herbs) was beautifully proportioned, the sauce emulsified into harmony. Nearly perfect, but let down by pre-cooked tuna and middling olives (8.5/10). The piadina was a revelation — warm, crisp-edged, moist inside — simple food executed with love, a full 10/10. Coniglio (boneless rabbit served cold with ginger sauce) was reference-level: layered flavours, careful balance of texture, one of the finest rabbit dishes I’ve had. Service began brisk but softened, and house-made fennel digestif plus complimentary biscuits closed the evening generously. If I return to Rimini, this will be my first stop for dinner.

We really enjoyed the dinner! I can’t believe the taste of the panna cotta, It was delicious. Everything was amazing but you must try the cappelletti😌

Seafood restaurant
Italian restaurant
Dallo Zio is a seafood restaurant in Rimini that serves delicious, filling food and great ambience. The staff is kind, and they make a vegetarian dish for me without any complaints. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great seafood meal in Rimini.
We would not have found this restaurant without our host's recommendation, but we were glad we did. I can only describe the cuisine as a blend of traditional and innovative dishes. We enjoyed both.

Nice trattoria in the centre of Rimini. Fresh fish, raw and cooked. The personnel is young, but it could be more professional. The place is very nicely decorated, with taste and elegance.

Dallo Zio in Rimini is an absolute favorite! The food is delicious, authentic, and packed with flavor. The portions are generous, and the prices are very reasonable. The staff are warm, friendly, and make you feel like family. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming — perfect for a relaxed meal with friends or family. Highly recommend!

Excellent service, delicious food, gluten-free options available. Would give 6 stars if I could. Got a table for six people easily for late sunday lunch. Sea food was absolutely great, and the white wine recommended by the waiter was a great accompanion. Also tried the desserts with local dessert wine Coeur, liked it so much had to buy one bottle to go. Service was veryfriendly and professional. The location next to Arco Augusto really handy. Stylish surroundings with unique glass art. Prices very reasonable, especially considering the quality.

We booked this restaurant about 8 weeks prior for our anniversary dinner. The food and service were excellent. Unfortunately we were seated in a small dining room between two tables of screaming children. Both sets of parents worked hard to quiet their children and they are not what I’m actually complaining about. We did end up not having dessert or coffee due to the screaming- but these things just happen sometimes. What I did not expect was to find out that there was a lovely, quiet and atmospheric dinning room upstairs. I’m sad that our romantic dinner could have been in that area of the restaurant and wasn’t. If you’re going to book this restaurant I would suggest requesting a quiet table.

Seafood restaurant
Nestled in the vibrant heart of Rimini, La Marianna is a charming trattoria that has been delighting diners since the 1960s. This century-old venue boasts a spacious veranda where guests can savor an array of delectable seafood dishes, including deep-fried delights and shellfish pasta, all crafted from the freshest catches.
Grilled sole and the prawns with grilled squid were great, but the salad leaves weren't fresh. The service was attentive and staff were helpful. There is plenty of space outside and inside the restaurant. The restaurant is located just after the ancient stone bridge.
Angie O — Google review
We had a very pleasant experience at this restaurant as a group of 3. Their terrace has a great view and is very spacious. Many terraces in Italy feel squeezed and crowded, however, this one didn't feel like that at all. Their service was also very attentive and fast. We were one of the first there so we were seated promptly, our orders were taken as soon as we were ready, we didn't have to chase anyone and food arrived quickly. As for the food, it was spectacular. We had an appetizer and two plates of various seafood to share. There was so much food and it tasted delicious! I definitely recommend this restaurant if you're feeling like seafood for dinner.

It's an awesome sea food place for lunch maybe even a date. Food was excellent and the portions were generous. FYI you can mix and match the pasta type with sea food if you ask for example strosapretti with vongole. We had the house white which was good. Service was decent and attentive..at the end of the meal they gave a green mint snaps. Really great place loved it 😋🍝🍷🍤🐙🐠🦞

Visited July 2012 — La Marianna, Rimini. La Marianna is the seafood-focused younger sibling of Osteria Dë Börg, and in the height of a 40-degree summer, the cool nautical interior was the perfect retreat. Service was spot-on: attentive yet unobtrusive, professional throughout. The meal began with piadina, just a touch thinner than ideal - the day baker missing the moist balance their night-shift counterpart nails - still delicious, but not perfection. 9/10. Next, the capesante gratinate: scallops baked with breadcrumbs and courgettes, roe intact. Cooked sweet and tender, beautifully balanced, though lacking a final spark of acidity. 9.5/10. For the main, a hearty brodetto, Emilia-Romagna’s classic fish stew, brimming with shellfish. Generous and satisfying, but a little over-seasoned - the natural salinity of the shellfish went uncompensated for. 8.5/10. I lingered over the courses in true “slow food” style, appreciating the setting and decor. A restaurant that understands craft and tradition, with only tiny missteps keeping it from absolute top tier.
Loo Y — Google review
I recently visited this restaurant and was pleasantly surprised. I ordered pasta with a mix of seafood, and it was absolutely delicious – fresh ingredients, perfectly seasoned, and beautifully presented. What stood out just as much as the food was the service. The staff were not only professional but also genuinely empathetic, making me feel truly welcome and cared for. Overall, a fantastic dining experience that I would be happy to repeat.
Andrej P — Google review
Great place for dinner tonight. The service was great and food (hand made pasta) was delicious. We had a lovely dining experience here and well worth coming back to try other dishes.
Prit T — Google review
Restaurant was at a nice location, close to the Tiberius bridge. If you come a bit sooner, you can get in without a reservation. The service was a little lacking - they took a bit long to bring the second meal, but that was because not all of us had two meals. Restaurants in the tourist centre tend to be a bit rushed. We liked the food, they also brought us cheese and pastry. Also when we asked for different kind of pasta than was written in the menu, they had to no problem with giving ut to us. While eating pasta with shrimps, they were cut down weirdly and we had to "fish it out" all the time, but that was the only problem we had. Dessert was tasty though. Also brought us complimentary pistachio liquor. Overall, a good place to have dinner at.
Barbora M — Google review
we ordered osters for starter and hot starter, scallops, and a pasta for main dish. everything came once and all.. we thought to have a nice, warm and easy dinner, but not able to have one. i have no idea how come they were not able to bring the osters first and wait a while for the rest.. for the note it wasnt busy at all or late at night.

Piadina restaurant
Casina del Bosco is a charming seasonal eatery located near the sea, just a stone's throw away from the Grand Hotel and the famous Fountain of the Four Horses in Rimini. It follows the tradition of Romagna by serving piadinas made with classic or faro flour dough and filled with high-quality, locally sourced ingredients. The warm welcome reflects authentic local character.
Casina del Bosco serves a variety of piadina close to Rimini beach opposite a small park. I really like the decoration with all the plants and wood furniture and the vibe, the staff was super friendly and the piadina with ham rucola n cheese was tasty, good value for money! Recommend it!
Maria A — Google review
A very cute restaurant with great piadinas. The outdoor seating is nice with both ground seating and a roof terrace. The selection of piadinas is great and they taste fantastic. Overall prices are a bit on the higher end but nothing too outlandish. They also offer the option of getting two different halves of a piadina if you want to try multiple options.

Absolutely recommend this place !!! Ok maybe not for all. The manager is a very nice guy, loves his job, answers any questions. The atmosphere is very warm, people enjoy their dinner. But this place is only for people who smoke as all the terrace was full of it:) We went there for evening dessert and enjoyed every second of it!!

La Mi Mama is a charming Italian restaurant with a full bar serving wines, beers and cocktails. The menu features regional antipasti, homemade pasta and mains, as well as vegan options. Outdoor seating is available in the pleasant piazza.
The waiter and staff are so friendly, the food was amazing!! The best fried seafood I’ve ever had in Italy! The thin layer of batter makes it light and crispy, a great portion of fish and squid which were fried nicely (you can really tell the great skill of the chef by it’s little residual oil) The meal ended with some Rimini produced “liquirizia liquore” and limoncello. What a feast! The price was also reasonable cheap! Totally worth a visit if you’re around! (Might be quite full during rush hours, reserve the table or come earlier if possible !)

Great food, great service!! Our server was great, she recommended the dishes for us to enjoy. They were also very accommodating with our family member who happened to be in a wheelchair

Food is truly amazing and the prices are also very-very good. Service was quick and professional. Waiter was nice, the only thing I didn't like is that since we didn't book a table in advance we felt kinda rushed, to finish with the dinner as soon as we can - this even though they still had plenty of tables free.
Kornél D — Google review
To be honest we expected a lot more. Portion could be bigger…we also had a hard time understanding the menu. One dish we ordered was almost completely tasteless. Atmosphere was pleasant, but tables are too close together…But the staff was very friendly and helpful 🫶🏼

We had lunch with historic ambiance in the shadows of the largest tree in Rimini. The professional server spoke English and checked back with us several times during a busy lunch session. Finally a restaurant without pizza on the menu. Angus beef 350g with mixed salad was perfect, lasagna with spinach pasta plates, mixed piadina. Music was calm and not intrusive. All in all on our better restaurant experiences while in Rimini.

La Mi Mama is a wonderful restaurant with truly delicious traditional Italian cuisine. My friend and I were staying closer to the beach, and one day we decided to take a walk into town — and this place turned out to be a real gem. The food was absolutely incredible. From the classic pasta with clams to the refreshing Aperol with cedrata — everything was rich in flavor and made with care. The restaurant itself is clearly crafted with love, attention to detail, and a deep respect for Italian culinary traditions. The vibe is warm, authentic, and genuinely special — something that’s definitely worth experiencing. If I ever return to Rimini, I will absolutely come back to this place. It was nothing short of amazing.
