Bodies of Water
Maschsee is a 78-hectare man-made lake located in the heart of Hanover, offering a variety of recreational activities and events. The lake features a cycling path around its perimeter and hosts water sports as well as a summer festival. One of the highlights is the world's largest Marksmen's Fair held in July, attracting hundreds of thousands for fairground rides, beer tents, and traditional parades.
The perfect lake to spend your time at, this is perfect for a picnic date, or to just spend some time with your friends and walk around it. There are a trees that perfectly surround it and create a nice contrast from the city. In the winter its also a viable option to walk around for sports. On the topic of sports you can run, walk around it.
Pavel M — Google review
I love it, it’s beautiful in both winter and summer, evenings and mornings. You can always enjoy a nice walk there with a beautiful view. From the Right side you can walk next to both beautiful trees from one side and the beautiful lake from the other side.
Passant W — Google review
Scenic and hygienic. The ducks make it even better, not to say you can feed them. You gotta control that urge. That’s probably not even allowed as far as I remember. A spot you wouldn’t wanna miss when you’re out and about visiting Hanover. Also a go-to spot if you just wanna wind out and/ or think about hypothetical possibilities, paradoxes, and make up scenarios in your mind.
Gaurvi S — Google review
One of my favourite places in Hannover. Nature, food, fun, all in one.
Adela — Google review
The Maschsee is a fantastic option for outdoor activities or a leisurely stroll. You can walk or cycle around the lake or even try water sports like paddleboarding. If you’re in the mood for something more relaxed, there are several bars and restaurants along the shore where you can sit and enjoy the beautiful lake views. It’s the perfect spot whether you’re looking to stay active or simply unwind in a peaceful, natural setting.

One of the very beautiful places in Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony) state. I would highly recommend visiting it. The lake is surrounded by biking lane and suitable for both walking and jogging. Good for family activities. The lake is very beautiful the surrounding area is very green. It is an excellent place for relaxing. The connections are available.

Museums
The Sprengel Museum, established in 1979, is a prominent cultural attraction in Hannover, Germany. It houses a remarkable permanent collection of German and international modern artists alongside notable temporary exhibits.
It is one of my preferred modern art museums. It's not so small and boring, nor big and overwhelming. Also, this museum contains lots of varieties in modern art, so if you are not attracted to ultra modern abstract art, still, you can still find a lot of paintings that you would like there
Ragui F — Google review
Great museum with some beautiful temporary exhibitions. The building itself is worth a visit!
Alice B — Google review
What awesome idea for a day trip to Hanover. The Sprengel museum is located downtown and can be reached by foot passing beautiful old buildings. We stopped by the enormous New Rathouse before we reached the Sprengel museum. We came here for the Niki Kusama Murakami exhibition. That was so worth the trip. Very charismatic art. One of a kind filled with loving pop art and vibrant colors. We had an incredible lunch at the in-house restaurant and went on to the the Kurt Schwitters collection. Two amazing experiences for the price of one. There are lockers for your bags and a shop to get books, postcards etc.

A lot of arts between the war. Very modern and interesting. In case your bag is too big than the box that they provide, you have to put your bag into the locker by insert your coin. Be prepare for it :) every Friday the entry is free.
N 1 — Google review
It is for free on Friday and I see it as a nice option to spend there time with your kids. Half an hour going around and exploring and after you can enjoy a piece of cake in the cafe directly inside of the museum
Olesia B — Google review
The museum overall has a newly build vibe to it, clean and well maintained. The exhibition and art inside the museum is bit off my taste of what a “museum” experience might be. It’s full of paintings and abstract art etc . 30-40% of the museum was under renovation and the overall layout of the museum was frankly quite consuming; a maze but not quite a fun maze (?) approach. The entry fees is 7 euros usually but Monday’s are closed and Fridays are free. I did go on Friday so the experience was moderately positive, however I would not pay 7 euro for this type of museum.

Nature & Parks
Eilenriede City Forest is a sprawling urban oasis located in the heart of Hannover, Germany. Covering an impressive 640 acres, it is twice the size of New York's Central Park and one of Europe's largest connected city forests. This expansive park offers a variety of attractions including leafy walking paths, playing fields, ponds, playgrounds, and charming cafes.
A great spot for nature lovers. You can stroll or ride a bicycle through the forest trails. There are parks in the middle of the forest. There is an old labyrinth around a tree which looks really nice. Also there is a cafe. Toilet facility is also available.
Arathi V — Google review
This is a great natural resource in the heart of Hannover. Numerous paths and cycleways traverse it. The park is well used by the populous so it seems safeto walk, jog, cycle, or rollerskate. Perhaps some compact and colourful evergreen shrubs and trees would complement the majestic deciduous trees which were still largely bare entering the fourth week of March. It was a pleasure to come across monuments and sculptures with inscriptions which yielded insight to the community experience and expression over a long perìod. Some had seating areas so you could sit and appreciate the art. Always nice to hear the birds singing or calling. It will be more beautiful as the leaves return. One can choose the length and duration of a period of exercise according to your capacity on a given day. Long may the community enjoy this valuable resource.

So beautiful peaceful forest.
Vida F — Google review
I'd rather be lost in the woods Than lost in the crowds. Rather wander where I belong Than wonder where I belong. I grew up next to the forest, still live near it, wouldn't want to miss it. And it is indeed a forest, not a park. An original forest, once probably part of the extensive northern forest, it's origins dating back thousands of years. Eventually gifted to the citizens of Hanover in 1371 by the dukes Wenceslaus and Albrecht of Saxony. Also referred to as the green lung of Hanover. Within, one does not need to wander far to go on a journey.

Zoo
Zoos & Aquariums
Erlebnis-Zoo Hannover is a spectacular animal park in Germany, attracting over a million visitors annually. The zoo features more than 2,000 residents from 5 continents, housed in unique and carefully designed habitats such as the Sambesi river ride, Indian jungle palace, Gorilla Mountain, Meyers Hof farmyard, Mullewapp children's paradise by Helme Heine and the Canadian landscape Yukon Bay.
Visiting from Canada and brought my 3 kids here aged 3 to 7. The whole family had an amazing time. Well thought out exhibits, loved seeing so many different animals up close and personal. Will always remember our visit to this zoo. Should have gotten tickets online sooner as they were cheaper, and can attend for free on your birthday!
Brendan B — Google review
Pretty good. But seeing someone smoking in the kids playground was shocking to me. Really good work with the themed atmosphere and building structures. Animals hiding in the shade but most still visible.
Arunas B — Google review
My first time here and I absolutely loved it. I honestly didn’t expect much from a zoo in Germany, but this one went far beyond my expectations. It feels more like an amusement park somehow! The boat ride is my favorite part, since some of the animals can be seen better from the boat. And don’t miss the zoo shop. They have so many cute merch items. Definitely one of the best zoos I’ve ever been to.
Noey T — Google review
All the animals looked so happy! The enclosures are just so amazing! Really good job making them themed after the area you’d find the animals in the wild, which just made it look so natural and made it look so that the animals were at home! Not seen anything like this before! The entry fee is at the higher end but it’s so worth it! Loved all of it!
Rikke J — Google review
15 out of 10 for theming, one of my favorite in the world! Beautiful areas and though they’re building new areas, spaces are original, more like a theme park and according to the animals. Loved the Yukon! Easy to navigate but plenty of signage, maps and ways to find your way. Worth a visit!

Historical place
The Old Town Hall in Hanover is a must-visit for tourists. It houses the state parliament building, which dates back to the 17th century and was restored in neoclassical style between 1817 and 1842. The city church, where philosopher Geo Leibniz is buried, also stands here. Additionally, the Hof building, now home to the state theater, hosts various musical performances.
This is the old townhall for the city. It reminisces the same old mdevial charm and still preserve antique looks. Very well maintained and clean. Walking distance from the hauptbahnhof and many restaurants around. Has a good convention hall on first floor for any stadt events. Worth a visit.

Though small in scale this medieval elevation resembles the old city hall of Munich. Great location. Well maintained building.

Some activities you can do are strolling around different malls, there is also church open to the public. Here you can donate using your cards. Besides the church there is volleyball court inside the city.

Restaurant Handwerk, located on Altenbekener Damm in Hannover, offers a contemporary take on regional cuisine using high-quality ingredients and culinary expertise. The modern and inviting atmosphere features elegant decor and an open kitchen, allowing guests to witness the culinary artistry. The menu boasts a diverse selection of dishes catering to both meat lovers and vegetarians, emphasizing fresh and seasonal products.
Handwerk, Hannover » My visit: June 2025 » Total score: 4.8/5 – very good » Comment: I thought the food tasted very good and I would rate the level of the food as outstanding. I would particularly like to highlight the excellent main course with roebuck. I also found the taste of the wines very good and the level outstanding. Here I would like to highlight an outstanding Grauburgunder from Baden. The “Handwerk” completely fulfilled my very high expectations. Summary: - Food Quality: Overall very good; ~Wagyu was slightly chewy for grade 10, ~Duck - slightly poor cooking technique, insufficient resting time/pan temperature control (see photo, not bad, but the rare region lacked flavor), + otherwise nice diversity of textures and flavors - Service: Male Staff: Unfriendly, rushed, and dismissive. Female Staff: Professional and friendly, albeit slightly robotic in dish recitation, very attentive - Ambience: Good lighting and music, but overall lacks warmth by the staff, especially for a "Casual fine dining" - Staff Interaction: Minimal; no engagement from sous chef or head chef. - Handling of Reservation Error: Unprofessional response to birthday misunderstanding (unfriendly call hours before the confirmed reservation, followed by a detectable unfriendliness by waiter (male) and absence of any interaction with the kitchen. It's always a good insight into a restaurant how they handle minor errors/misunderstandings. - Overall Impression: Heartless atmosphere with evident classism, undermining the quality of the truly good food. In summary: Despite the high standard of the food, the overall impression was marred by a palpable sense of heartlessness and an air of unapologetic classism. The lack of sincere hospitality, coupled with the staff's annoyance by a reservation misunderstanding (marked reservation as birthday as this was a birthday gift), resulted in an experience that was, regrettably, more alienating than enjoyable. The price and food is indicative of a one star Michelin restaurant, the delivery and human element of the craftsmanship is a stain to the establishment. Generous 2/5 rating Dined on 17.12.2023 Another note: I heard you questioning/condescending another customers decaffeinated cappuccino order with the other staff in the kitchen, I understand it may not be the best option, but neither is your judgement, don't serve what you openly judge. Ironically disgusted.

For sure one of the best places in Hannover. 5 dishes plus truffel upgrade. Pure taste and pleasure. Dessert to be slidely improved. But all over a dinner to be. Winelist is comprehensive but with some highlights for reasonable prices. Please continue...

Best dinner experience I've had so far. Excellent presentation, taste and variety. Staff is the friendliest and explained the dishes in the most convenient way. Price is well worth the experience and you do get several extra taste dishes on top of the 6 course meal. Came hungry, left full, both in appetite and of joy. Recommend to any foodie out there who has not tried it yet.

This place is exquisite! The plating is creative, innovative and imaginative. The combination of varying food groups and unique compositions make for a beautiful, memorable evening. The staff are superb, delightful and well educated on the ingredients and wine pairings. They also gladly accommodate for people with dietary preferences and allergies. The quality sits high above any usual "fine dining" found in the most parts of Germany, and as two foodies, we have long awaited an evening such as we had this evening. If you are familiar with Melbourne fine dining you will feel at home here. And lastly, the interior designer did a fabulous job, the finished interior serves as a last compliment to all the above! It's contemporary and includes stylish and quirky artwork paired with comfortable seating and an open kitchen to watch the masters at work! Thank you so so much! You're all brilliant! :)
Ella B — Google review
It has been a pleasure to enjoy a six course menu this evening, apart from the Extrablatts and Francesca Fratellis which give their best to the culinary downfall of Hannover. The unpretentious and welcoming waitresses created a relaxing and exciting atmosphere, offering interesting and sympathetic background information about food and wine without being unobstrusive. Presentation and composition hinted to a modern, cosmopolical and individual craftsmanship that gave way to a taste of devotion and love towards every ingredient. The exploration of the menu could cost up to 300,- Euros but it's worth money and time. The evening made me really forget the provenciality and the overration of the surrounding area. All the best to the restaurant and it's workers.

Tony Hohlfeld, a seasoned chef, took over as head chef at the Olen Deele in Burgwedel and successfully defended its Michelin star. In 2016, he opened his own restaurant called Jante in Hannover, which quickly earned a Michelin star. The restaurant is located in a former toilet house on Marienstrasse and has been transformed into a stylish gourmet destination with Scandinavian-inspired decor.
We are 6 people and we all are enjoyed. The foods are Amazing, served are great too. My Favorite is The Lobster 🦞. But my credit is: Would be nice if the Lobster 🦞 is cut into 3 or 4 pieces. All I can say well done. Jante you have a great Team. For sure we will be back. 👍👍👍 Hadiana Meier

Not bad, what I dont like about old star-Michelin restaurant that when they receive a star they stop improving. New comers that are just suggested and without the star is doing much better and Jante is not an exception. As result you are receiving nice food but way too overpriced comparing to new places that just popped up in Michelin or just good fine dining place. Also the staff is ok but should be more welcoming in my opinion. Good thing that its very quite and due to high price probably will be available. So is it worth going here? Maybe. Worth returning? Defo not unless they change anything. Expect to spend more than 200 EUR per person.

The Garlic soup was average, i have had a better one before. The Fillet tenderloin was excellent, probably the best i have had in my 2 weeks in Germany. The Sorbet for dessert was two scopes, mangos and mint and they were really good. I dropped three stars because of the gentlemen who took us to our seat and served us. Hospitality means good food and good service. When the host treats his guests like trash, that ruins the experience Our host was always in a hurry and for some reason got offended because i waived when I wanted the dessert menu. His colleague explained to me that this is not nice in Germany (he obviously complained to his colleagues), but this does not give him the right to treat his guests in a rude way. 101 lesson when you work in hospitality, in a well-know hotel, with guests from different cultures, in a city known for yearlong international exhibitions, you have to be flexible and understanding. After-all, i just waived, i did not give him the finger to get offended and rude. Of course i blame the management on such a thing because there should be proper training for the staff before they can get engaged with guests. Sadly, I will go again (since i am staying in the same hotel and the food was honestly good) I dealt with two other people and they were professional and smiling. I asked to see the rude host and apologized if i did anything that offended him and explained to him that i come from a different culture. I expected him to apologize as well, but he did not.

Lovely place on the lake in Hannover. Glass windows all around, not only make the atmosphere modern and beautiful, but allow to take the most from the view of the lake. The Lindenblatt 800° restaurant is a great place to go for delicious, high quality meat and good quantity. The service is friendly and helpful, and the food arrives quickly at your table. In addition to their meat and trimmings, they also offer stunning bread with lemon butter. This restaurant deserves more attention - worth a visit if you're in the area!
Went here without reservation. Very warm welcome. Nice setting and very nice staff who enjoyed their work. Especially our waiter Pieter(?). Also very good not letting anything go to waste. Very nice dishes and wine. 10/10 would recommend!

Cool atmosphere, really attentive waiter, and most of the food and drinks were top notch! Unfortunately, chicken in this country is overdone, and therefor dry to the mouth - even though the taste is superb. And the main course, short rib, was just a bit too heavy. But overall a really nice experience.

We found this place by accident but we were secretly craving steak. I rate this place 8 of 10 from steaks I have tasted in 69 countries. David is amazing he knows how to serve correctly, he is friendly and super professional. The quality of the food is really good. Highly recommend it in a totall breath of fresh air. The female servant should not be customer facing. If you visit Hannover, this is a must go, you won't regret it, especially the housemade bread and butter is 5 star ⭐

I was out for a walk and found this very nice steak restaurant. The atmosphere, service and of course the food is amazing and they have the best meat on the menu you can buy for money. My experience is when you go to a restaurant like this you can make a bad choice so I went for the rump steak to 37 euro for 300g and some side orders and a very good wine from Chile to 39 euro - was a great deal and you get free starter and amazing bread for the dinner. And not to forget the service - this was the best from the very start, Daniel and team did a great job to make the night special and my glass was never even close to be empty for red wine 😊🍷

If you’re looking for a top-tier steak experience, this place delivers. The Wagyu beef was incredibly tender, rich, and packed with flavor—easily one of the best I’ve had. The service was excellent, and the ambiance made the meal even better. Definitely worth it for anyone who appreciates high-quality steak!
