Lviv

Lviv is a city in western Ukraine, around 70 kilometers from the border with Poland. Traces of its Polish and Austro-Hungarian heritage are evident in its architecture, which blends Central and Eastern European styles with those of Italy and Germany. In High Castle Park, the mountaintop ruins of a 14th-century castle provide panoramic views of the city’s green-domed churches and the surrounding hills.

Cemetery
Sights & Landmarks
Historical landmark
Lychakiv Cemetery, a sprawling burial ground dating back to the 1700s, is a significant site in Lviv. The cemetery is home to the resting places of notable Ukrainians and has become a legacy and museum over time. Its winding paths lead visitors through beautiful tombs that are often compared to those at Pere-Lachaise cemetery in Paris.
One of the most interesting cemeteries I've ever visited. Tons and tons of huge headstones, all different designs, and even quite a few family tombs. It's a very big cemetery, I was walking at a decent speed and still took me 40 minutes to do one loop. There is an entrance fee but it's very cheap: 80 Hryvnia.
Ethan S — Google review
One of the best old cemeteries I have visited. I would recommend to get a paper guide at the entrance
Iryna Z — Google review
I like to visit Lychakiv cemetery. It is the history of Lviv and Europe, a place of numerous architectural masterpieces and a good place to think, to listen to silence and to comunicate with it. Lychakiv cemetery is a great museum too.
Tanya K — Google review
Definitely underestimated place either for calm walks or for thinking of eternal things. Highly recommended. Entry ticket 50 uah.
Yuriy P — Google review
Very old and impressive cemetery that is a real museum containing lots of interesting monuments.
Alyona D — Google review
A beautiful cemetery. It carries a ton of polish and ukrainian history. Definatly one of must sees of lviv.
Paweł K — Google review
Since the 1500s, Lviv’s most prominent figures have been laid to rest at this 40-hectare cemetery that has now been recognised as a national reserve. Lychakiv Cemetery is the equivalent to Père Lachaise or Highgate and is treasured not just for its prestigious burials but the quality of the art that commemorates them. Laid to rest here are Polish and Ukrainian members of the clergy, politicians, military leaders, scientists, architects (like Zygmunt Gorgolewski), soloists, aviators, surgeons and painters. For Poles the cemetery is poignant as the burial place of the Lwów Eaglets, young militia members who were killed during the Polish-Ukrainian War in 1918-1919.
Ankit P — Google review
This is the first cemetery I've bought a ticket for. And it was worth it all the ways it's like an museum of history and art. Sculpture and botanical garden.

Museums
The Pharmacy Museum, also known as "D.S. Secret Pharmacy," is a captivating and enigmatic museum located in Lviv. It all began when a hidden entrance to the basement was discovered during restoration work at one of Lviv's oldest pharmacies, "Under the Hungarian Crown." This led to the unveiling of a former pharmaceutical laboratory dating back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The museum showcases antique pharmaceutical artifacts within an 18th-century drugstore setting.
I really liked this place. I was there alone, and it was a bit scary going down to the dungeon, haha. But overall, the experience was great.
Iryna V — Google review
(Entry fee 60 UAH in Oct 2024) Worth a visit into this atmospheric old building, not just to see the old pharmacy stuff but the balcony, interior courtyard and small cellar. Knocked a star off as there is little interpretation, and almost none in English. Be aware there are lots of stairs.
Stephen P — Google review
We visited the Pharmacymuseum without expecting much and were really surprised how interesting and big it was. We were expecting just like 3 rooms filled with old medicine, but this museum shows you way more than just this. You are being guided through the whole building including cellar and courtyard, filled with old relicts of medicine. Definitely the most exciting museum we visited in Lviv.
Marcel J — Google review
Very attractive place must visit but should always have a guid otherwise won’t be able to understand any thing. Must visit and explore the historic pharmacy museum know an important & interesting history of medicine which we use to take nowadays. For me it is very interesting to know all about those and I hope you will be too. They have all those antique items which were use in past.
Dr. C — Google review
One of the most interesting museums in Lviv. But only of you visit it with guide. Museum's dungeon (especially secret room of alchemist) is very impressive. Children liked this place too))
Olya Є — Google review
Good variation from walking around the old town of Lviv. Tip for you - you buy the tickets in the ‘real’ pharmacy, it was a bit misleading for us, as there are modern medicine on the counter and we though this may just be a pharmacy :) the museum is bigger than expected, there are a few floors. Overall it is worth to visit the museum.
Aleksandra M — Google review
Amazing collection and a very nice building. Details the long history of pharmacology in Lviv and in the region throughout almost the entire last millennia. The exhibition is authentic and even dabs into the practice of alchemy.

I personallt found it interesting to learn about the history of pharmacy in Lviv. Also the exhibition is quite intriguing as well. The place also actively serves as a pharmacy which makes it cooler :) Entrance is 20 Grivnas which is less than a dollar.

The Potocki Palace is a classic must-see location in Lviv, showcasing the architectural grandeur of the late 19th century. This French-style palace is an exemplary representation of historicism and houses a remarkable collection of European art from the XIV-XVIII centuries. The first floor features opulent period interiors, while the second floor exhibits an impressive array of paintings and sculptures by renowned artists such as Titian, Georges de Latour, and Goya.
A gorgeous historical palace, only for 2.5 euro one can buy tickets, guided tours are also inexpensive - 5 euro for a group from one to 10 people.
Iren O — Google review
Beautiful palace, kept in good condition. Nice paint, furniture and architecture, as well as a small park. There was a little gallery with some modern paintings also, as well as some nice artworks, sculptures etc.
Sven R — Google review
Amazing place to hang out with friends and family and take great pictures. It has a museum of the palace on the first floor and the art gallery of Polish and Ukrainian artists on the second floor. If you want to feel as royalty and have a nice memories to share on your social media - definitely recommend. The ticket is 50 Hryvnas for an adult.
Maretta A — Google review
Place is amazing, they do accept card and cash for tickets. The historical museum 🖼️ does have alot of great things to see but it does require some attention as in one room the celling was leaking water 💦💧💧. Not all the rooms were open 😺 when I visited and it was quite a short tour for us. Considering the size of building 🏫 and the rooms that were open were nothing. Great place if you love to see some history.
Верма М — Google review
Palace looks very old and unchanged mutch (atvleast 1st floor). It is nice to feel the old days spirit, but also the presenration is very (top) old fashioned. A strong minus is the lightening, giving no chances to see shiny oil paintings.
Gabrielė Š — Google review
Two beautiful Museum can be visited in this Palace. Modern and Barok. Close to the center and nice area. Missing thing is; you cant can rest and drink a coffee in the beautiful garden of this palace.
Emre P — Google review
Interior of this palace is pretty good. Second floor isn't so interesting as first one. However, exhibition is very small. Only Ukrainian student ticket works for discount. ISIC doesn't work ( They don't have any free entrance days as usually museums have. It is very pitty.
Nazar L — Google review
Beautiful outside (my advice - go around the building) and interesting inside, more like art gallery. Buy inside could be a little bit boring for kids, because it's forbidden to touch anything

The Armenian Cathedral of Lviv, dedicated to the Armenian Apostolic Church, is a significant religious landmark in the city. Dating back to the 14th century, it stands as one of the few remaining examples of Armenian architecture in Ukraine. The cathedral has undergone various renovations over time and today showcases well-preserved medieval architecture.
The church polychrome art is some of the most beautiful sacral art I've ever seen! Entrance is free.
Aleksandra Ł — Google review
Visiting the Armenian Church in Lviv was an incredible experience. As an Armenian, I felt a deep connection the moment I stepped inside. The energy of the place was amazing—calm, powerful, and full of history. The beautiful architecture and peaceful atmosphere made it a special place to reflect. It was exciting to see how our culture and faith have remained strong here for so many years. If you're in Lviv, this church is definitely worth visiting!
Mariam M — Google review
Very nice old Armenian Orthodox Church with both beautiful exteriors and interiors. It is located in the heart of Old Town and is s perfect place for a walk, taking a picture or two and/or just sitting down inside to contemplate about life. I highly recommend it as a must see point of interest while in that city.

Beautiful hidden cathedral with typically Armenian sombre and dark decorations. Small but spectacular. No entrance fee.

Stunning. Absolutely unique climate, totally different than in all the other L'viv churches. My visit was additionally coloured by a priest chanting somewhere behind a door. Very beautiful sacred place with a completely inconspicuous entrance. You can also enter the church's backstreet, but from the Virmen'ska street, not Krakivska street.

The Most Expensive Galician Restaurant in Lviv is a unique dining experience that shouldn't be missed. Despite its name, there's a catch - with a special coupon, you can get a 90% discount on the entire menu. Finding the restaurant for the first time might be tricky, but once inside, you'll be greeted by Pan Petro and taken to his old apartment where you'll find yourself surrounded by mysterious Masonic symbols and an intriguing atmosphere.
Great food and an interesting idea for the hidden entrance. We had a game and mushroom pasta and duck leg with risotto, which was delicious too (although pickled cornels and coriander didn't fit the dish in my opinion). If you don't remember to ask for the 90% discount, you'll get it anyway :)

The historic center of Lviv is filled with restaurants and cafes for every taste. This restaurant is hidden away and not easy to find. Information about it is passed by word of mouth. I am telling you: be sure to come here. When you knock on the door, a man in an old robe will open you and let you into his apartment, where his pets live. And if his rabbit accepts you, he will allow you to open the old door. You will find yourself in a chic restaurant with great music. You will be greeted as a dear guest. When we received our food and drinks, we realized that people who are in love with their work work here. Thanks to all the restaurant staff, we are in love with this place.

Delivery Restaurant
Kryivka is a legendary restaurant located in the heart of Lviv, Ukraine. It's hidden beneath The Most Expensive Restaurant and requires visitors to utter a password to gain entry. Once inside, guests are greeted with a tumbler of strong liquor and find themselves in a chaotic but lively bunker where young locals enjoy cheap beer served by waitresses in army uniforms. The restaurant pays tribute to the Ukrainian Insurgent Army and its guerrilla warfare history from 1943-49.
Kryivka in Lviv offers such a unique and unforgettable experience! The atmosphere immerses you completely, blending history, culture, and a touch of mystery. The entrance alone sets the stage for an exciting adventure. To enter, you need to say 'Slava Ukraini,' which means 'Glory to Ukraine.' Once inside, you're greeted with a shot of alcohol, setting the tone for an exciting and welcoming visit. The ambiance transports you to another era, with decor and atmosphere steeped in history. The staff are friendly and engaging, making the experience even better. The food is delicious, hearty, flavorful, and authentic, leaving you fully satisfied. Kryivka is not just a restaurant—it's an experience you won't want to miss in Lviv. Highly recommended!

This is an amazing experience & one should take time to experience the full treatment. There are so many strange & funny corners of this restaurant. There's a little prison, a shooting range, radio equipment, weapons & a very nice shop upstairs. The owners have really thought this through & customers are positively amazed. I'm going to be back.
Jakob B — Google review
During my first ever visit in Ukraine I visited Kryivka together with my Ukrainian friend. Before our trip to Lviv she told me a lot about the special atmosphere of this place. As a symbol of a century-long resistance and fight for a free and sovereign Ukraine. That is still ongoing. So you might think that I was prepared. I wasn‘t. Because the scenery and atmosphere are so unique that I had goosebumps when I was entering Kriyvka and seeing all this badges of these military units. Each of them as a symbol for true heroes. Beside of that, the service was excellent, the beer was amazingly good and the food so tasty. All in all it was one of the most impressive restaurant visits of my life. Slava Ukrainï!

Meat dish restaurant
Grill
Nestled within the historic grounds of Lviv's first weapons factory, Arsenal Ribs and Spirits offers a unique dining experience that transports you back to medieval times. This popular eatery is adorned with an impressive collection of historical weaponry, creating an ambiance reminiscent of a grand hall from the past. The star attraction here is undoubtedly their succulent pork ribs, expertly marinated and grilled over an open flame for that perfect smoky flavor.
Meat, Ribs and steaks. This is a paradise for those who just want to gorge on some absolutely amazing pieces of meat. A must see and eat place in Lviv. You’ll first be greeted by the lines, then the spinning meat, glistening and waiting for you to order them. Sides with your giant rack of ribs? Here’s some green beans and lavash. Your not here to be healthy, you’re hear to get closer to a heart attack. Enjoy your beer, grease and meat , it’s phenomenal.

Love this place! The atmosphere is great, the staff is friendly, and the concept is very interesting. All that, plus simple but delicious food. Definitely worth it for me.
YaroslaV — Google review
Of course I had to visit this popular modern venue serving grilled ribs in the centre of beautiful Lviv. The restaurant is placed in the basement of older historical building and has an opened terraced seating below the street level. Even though it's a popular place, they have a lot of tables and staff, so you do not have to wait for a long time. The waiter performs a little show, waving around a large table serving paper cover and writing your order on it with a black marker. Obviously, I went for their staple food - the grilled ribs with a huge 1L beer and yes, my expectations were quite high. You get it served on the chopping board, with small dip and paper towel roll for messy hands (which I always appreciate). The staff chops it in front of you. However, even though the ribs were looking awesome, they are just very average. The grilled flavour is nice, but the meet is quite tough and sticks to the bone - probably, because it wasn't grilled long enough. There is no other side (bread?), so the portion is quite small. And it's quite expensive. Although the ribs were a disappointment, the local Ukrainian couple passing around shouted "Try the fish" at me, so that may be their secret weapon. I would also give them some extra points for the decent beer, attentive and professional staff and quite cool water fountain inside :)

We were a big group (17) and received superb service. The ribs were succulent and juicy. The whole experience was great fun. Highly recommended!

All the restaurants of FEST company provide guests with great impressions. As an impression it is great. Unfortunately I witnessed an incident when a beggar touched the food that some guests sitting around the table were eating. It is unacceptable, such people shouldn't be allowed into the premises.

They don’t support military, I was in uniform and they asked us to leave because I had my service weapon. They said it was for the safety of other guests, what safety you fool??? Great place with fantastic decor and ambiance. Making reservation for dinner is a good idea. Great variety of infused vodkas from sweet to bitter which is their specialty. Food is good, presentation is amazing, pleasant service. It's a pricey place by local standards but you will get your money's worth. It would be very nice for staff to smile a little more, they look so serious😉

Excellent food, excellent place, excellent serving. Had a really nice time there in a beautiful atmosphere and enjoyed food a lot, perfect dumplings dough and wonderful servings of all the dishes, especially the one with the bottle. Lines are often long, but it is worth waiting. Prices are reasonable. Highly recommend!

The decorations were stunning. I love their greenhouse idea outside. Really bright and the songs of the birds were a great touch. It was all in all a very comfortable atmosphere to have lunch in. Their lemonade is fantastic. The food on the other hand wasn't as good as I had expected from a restaurant that was so well thought out. The taste someone blended together and it didn't taste as good. Their plating was fantastic though.

Meat and Justice is a unique restaurant located in a secluded courtyard within the medieval complex of a former Bernardine Monastery, now St. Andrews Church. The establishment pays homage to Lviv's first municipal employee, an executioner with diverse responsibilities including garbage removal and safeguarding city prostitutes. The restaurant is designed as a medieval pub and offers a meat-forward menu featuring spit-grilled skewers, steaks, whole fish, and beer.
A place to get piles of meat. The platters for multiple people are worth it and usually result in leftovers and full stomachs. Good variety of dishes and the theme feels very enchanting as you sit in the garden on the executioner. On my last visit though we ordered the steaks with the many hot sauces, and while the sauces we good and spicy, and the setup really great, I felt like the steaks had either been cooked straight from the freezer or not given enough time to finish the cooking process as they were still raw in the middle. I ate them anyways because I have no control, just wondered afterwards about the chewiness and if we all forgot to discuss how we liked our steaks.
Travis A — Google review
We loved the place and the atmosphere. Food was also outstanding, the chicken and tartare were out of this world. Recommended! Also really beautiful location
Niccolo B — Google review
A great, tasty and different medieval meal experience. The place was full and a there was a bit long waiting line (around 10-20 mins) but the waiting was worth it. We ordered a meat (grill) and vegetables platter, baked potatoes, local beer and all was very tasty. Furthermore, the performance (like torture or punishment) with the executioner and a guest being introduced in a medieval cage was peculiar and fun.
Y O — Google review
Fancy modern restaurant focused on barbeque and meats with really nice garden to sit outside. They did not have ribs (???), so I basically gave up and only ordered a local craft beer and sat outside in the garden in between the medieval walls. Really nice and interesting beer, attentive and apologetic service, but slightly overpriced for Lviv's standards. But in any case - Slava Ukraini!
Joe L — Google review
If you're in Lviv you have to try this. They offer a meat dish which is beef steak which is then sliced up in front of you by the "Executioner" . He will then feed you a morsel at a time dipping the meat into 1 of 4 pots of hot sauces, each in increasing intensity. Number 3 and 4 are not for the faint hearted and made my eyes water. But super delicious and wonderful and friendly as i found all of Ukraine 🇺🇦 and Lviv ❤️
Nav J — Google review
The best meat dishes in Lviv, strongly recommended. In Summer the outdoor tables are great. Don't tease the Executioner if you don't wanna participate some really stupid performances :)

Ohh my god, this place is amazing. Hidden inside the fort, a bit tricky to find. Just walk through the old church grounds. The grilled trout is to die for and the fillet steak is better than you could ever find. Not to mention a fantastic environment and super cheap prices. A place well worth finding. Find it and Thank me later!?!!!
