Beautiful museum showcasing the life and works of the famous Danish architect who conceptualised the Sydney Opera House and various other beautiful buildings. The museum hallways talk about the life and works of the architect while there are separate rooms for some of his most important works. These give a good insight into the mind of the great man! There is also a section to get hands on and build structures with LEGO bricks or get on a computer and build some models. There is a robotics lab for use by the local university and a nice little courtyard. Such useful places! Finally there is a restaurant too but I didn’t try this one.

A charming little museum, a definite hidden gem of Aalborg! You can see models of Utzon's projects (realised and not), there are several rooms with changing exposition and workshops (currently occupied by the University of Aalborg). The adjacent restaurant is also lovely

Fantastic museum with very innovative and techdesigned experiences. Lego building Utzon architecture in an enviroment where your design can be scanned into a minecraft 3d universe that you can experience with VR. Brilliantly done. The rest of the museum offers some fine examples of how you as a guest can interact with the theme of a museum when it's well designed. You can build with different materials in workshops or walk around and view Utzons designs from different angles.

A museum about Danish architecture, especially the architect of the iconic opera in Sidney. The museum is not that big and the price might seem a little steep, but in my opinion it is worth it. You will find interesting exhibits and workshops also can participate in some activities like building with lego block or create collapsible structures folding paper. Staff is friendly and welcoming.

The building itself is worth a visit! I found the sommerhouse-exhibition very entertaining. It’s not a big building so you can get through within 1-2 hours. Stuff to do for older kids as well!

It is a nice and small architecture museum. The staff was also very nice. They even let you visit their working space ^^ The price was a little too high (100 DK), but it's definitely worth visiting is you like architecture stuff :3

Walked to the art museum from the old town, entry is VERY expensive for us 3rd world visitors! Reception was friendly and the art was interesting. Even a couple of pieces by Picasso! Very interesting architecture and museum is well laid out and spacious. Also the garden has some fun sculpture and an entertaining water fountain. Well worth a visit if you're in the area. Also, the tower for viewing the city is a short walk up the hill..combine the 2 in an outing.

I really did like the building a lot. I’m not sure about the art but it is curated well and there are definitely some very interesting and inspiring pieces.

A fascinating place to visit with a solid permanent exhibition and always nice temporary ones. The building itself is quite interesting on its own way and the garden has some cool statues too. Depending on the level of interest, many hours can be spent here, there are multiple parking opportunities, both open and covered.

Great museum designed by Alvar Aalto. You will also find many of his furniture and luminaries inside and outside. There is easy access and ample parking nearby. We visited between exhibitions, so we were only allowed into part of the museum. The shop is well worth visiting if you like Danish design.

Lindholm Høje is a place where history truly comes alive. The vast stone outlines of ship-shaped graves instantly transport you back to the Viking Age. Its strategic location by the fjord gave the Vikings a crucial advantage – and you can still feel that strength today. The atmosphere is enhanced by freely grazing sheep and the surrounding peaceful landscape, creating a harmony with the ancient past. Right next to the site you’ll also find a wonderful museum, where you can dive deeper into the history and discoveries connected to this unique burial ground. Lindholm Høje is one of the most important Viking sites in Scandinavia and is absolutely worth a visit.

I pulled up in my campervan for the night and walked the cemetery with the sun setting. Really magical place with good energy… a must if a visit.

Wonderful experience, we didn't go in the museum but looked around the graveyard and found the signs dotted around very insightful.

Beautiful historical landmark with lots of history and informative sites, would recommend. There were informations at each of the little stations in the outside park, but some of the information was only written in danish. Nonetheless I was able to learn a lot without having to buy an entry ticket into the museum, but I’m sure that would’ve been worth the money too!!

Historically beautiful. There are a lot of signs placed around the “graveyard” with explanations and information about the place. Dog friendly place as well which made it more friendly for me and my family:)

The Zoo is a nice size zoo that has great exhibits. A few of them actually allow you to walk within the exhibit as long as you stay on the path. Well laid out paths. Plenty of parking in a grass lot just past the zoo entrance. Buy your tickets online prior to your arrival and save a little money!

Great zoo experience with something for all ages. From dinosaurpark to pettingzoo, inovative varied information and some very friendly staff who are also very invested in telling about the different animals and their stories. Their food could do with some more quality vs pricelevel though.

Aalborg Zoo is a fantastic family-friendly destination! We had a wonderful time exploring the zoo with our kids. They were thrilled to see the impressive dinosaur exhibit, which sparked their imagination. The highlight for them was definitely the big cats – the tigers and lions were magnificent. We also enjoyed watching the zebras and giraffes, and the penguins were absolutely adorable. The lemurs added a playful touch to our visit. The zoo offers a great variety of animals and plenty of interactive experiences for children. Highly recommended for a fun-filled family day out!

It was okay, but the animals I wanted to see was sleeping :)… OMG, the otters were so cute. I would definitely go again.

A truly fantastic experience! I loved the focus on rare and endangered species like the magnificent Asian lions and Bornean orangutans. The zoo balances serious conservation with family fun; the Dinosaur Land exhibit, with its life-size characters, was an absolute highlight that the children loved. A must-visit attraction for anyone in the region!

2025-10-15 - Far from being the best zoo we have visited (family of 5 persons). It wasn’t a bad experience, but not really good either. We spend 4 hours here and was asked several times by our kids when should leave (age 10, 7 and 4). There was a Halloween theme, which was made quite well, but sadly it wasn’t enough to change our experience. Also parking the car was a mess as there wasn’t enough parking spots.

Really had a good time at this place . They have quite a good range of animals . You can easily spend upto 3 hours. A lot of eating place and kids play area . The place is kept quite clean and organized . And jot far from the city center.

Really good experience to visit as a family, we had a good time. Especially exciting to learn about uproar in Northern Jutland over centuries, a special exhibit. We were also captured by the story of the Churchill group and the story of the boys and young men during WW2, what they did in Aalborg to resist against the occupation 💪🏽💯 Very reasonable coffee/tea/hot chocolate 👍🏽

A great museum. It's filled with the history of Aalborg, since the first human occupations until recent periods. There are guides who speak both English and Danish. The signs on the walls that explain the exhibition's pieces are all in Danish, but there are panflets in English that have the translations. The collections are amazing. There are ancient instruments of torture, of housing, of common daily objects, of a classroom, of clothes. There's a part of the museum that is entirely dedicated to the German occupation during World War II that is really interesting, and the guide had many outstanding comments on how people lived through this period.

Quite hectic and boring museum if you are not extremely into random facts about Aalborg. Would be nice if the exhibition would be more organized

Well worth it

This is not a big museum, but it was packed with information. We spend a coulpe of hours in there and where entertained the entire time. If you live in Aalborg and have never been there - go! If you have any interest in local history and are visiting Aalborg - go! It is really cheap and you get something for your money.

I am surprised that this restaurant is so highly rated. My partner and I try quite a few of same level restaurants and it compares poorly. The food was good and well presented by some of the chefs and I liked the minimalist style of the restaurant however the service and the actual atmosphere could be improved. For example the entrance is designed awkwardly- there are tables before the actual reception so those who are placed on the tables near the entrance get all the noise from people coming in, phone ringing, people going to the toilet. There is also noise coming from the kitchen with pots and pans and conversations between the waiters and the chefs. I get those need to happen but it felt a bit much when you are there for the full experience. It seems there is a separate room connected to the restaurant but we were not placed there (even though some tables were empty) so perhaps that is better. All in all I cannot say this was a good experience, I would not recommend it and we’ll definitely not going to return.

The best dinner I have had in Aalborg. Our second visit at TABU, and they only get better and better. We had the 14-dish dinner with wine pairing. An excellent experience with the dishes based on local ingredients, paired with interesting wines and presented by very professional staff, so TABU deserves 5 stars.

I think the best dinner experience I had out of my country. It's not just like a dinner but is a food experience. Chefs will take you to the heart of the dish as well as to the preparation and the most fresh ingredients. Definitely to be back at the first convenience trip to Aalborg.

Good bar here and service was great. Food was alright, but I was a little disappointed. The meat wasn't as tender as expected and had to send it back, but the flavors were alright. It was better the second time around. Very good bathroom facilities.

Best restaurant in Aalborg, with a different menu every month beside of the à la carte choice! Excellent Japanese style restaurant, I recommend 100% for event, stylish night, romantic night, whatever! The restaurant is stunning, the view amazing (even more while sunset) and the food just excellent!

Amazing experience with a 6 course menu, including cod, pork, duck and wild game. I am still dreaming about all that amazing flavours.

If you're a true sushi lover and you have been to Japan to try a proper sushi place where the chef makes and serves sushi in front of you, then you have to try the sushi menu tasting here. It's quite pricey, 850kr per person but the quality is the best. I have not found anywhere else in Denmark has this similar good quality of sushi.

An absolutely fantastic experience! We had 10 courses with a wine menu. Super cozy atmosphere in the restaurant and really skilled waiters. It was 10 explosions of taste beautifully presented. Exciting wines from Hungary and Germany put the finishing touch on a perfect evening in the company of good friends. If you haven't tried eating at Restaurant Applaus in the center of Aalborg, I would recommend that you invest in a truly great dining experience.

This is the best food I’ve had during my two day visit in Aalborg. The tasting menu has 10 items with generous portions. The chef clearly has put thought into the pairing of the food!

I recommend taking the twelve course menu including the wine pairing. All 12 dishes were avant-garde and delicious, with the flame grilled salmon as my favorite. All local Danish products. Expect to spend 3 hours here, but with a good pace. Also all allergies were handled very well.

Delicious Danish food and (Danish) wine. Professional and very friendly service. Good atmosphere. English menu available. We had the tasting menu (everything from the menu, except for the cheese). Pescetarian option available. Highly recommend.

to the inexperienced waiter who has told us that if we are looking for a steak restaurant we should go somewhere else, to tell him that we have been lucky enough to visit some of the best restaurants in the world, in which the attendant explains the menu as many times as necessary . We selected this restaurant because it seemed something different, but we had to go because of the lack of education of this boy, we hope that they learn to treat foreigners better.

Hard one to call, some things on the tasting menu was absolutely fantastic but the majority were just good and frankly some fell pretty flat. Wine pairing was traditional, solid but not exciting and not pairings that stood out in any way. Service was good, but inconsistent and served a chocolate snack despite the talk we had when ordering about allergies. Not a problem to not eat it, but a clear mistake. They also seems to have changed away from the communal seating which would have been fun. Don't want to be overly critical, it was a good meal! But the price point is for great, not good.

Wow! Just wow! I went here with my wife for our wedding anniversary, and the 3 hour experience was amazing! Granted, we don't have much experience with more fancy/fine dining, but this was worth every crown spent. We were greeted at the entrance by Morten (We think?), which seated us at a wonderful table, with super wide chairs (resembling a couch? Bench? In any case, super comfortable and stylish). We had a four course meal (2 appetizers, main course and a 2 part desert). The dishes were distinctly scandinavian, but creative, high quality and inventive. We especially loved our salmon appetizer and the Easter Egg desert! The staff made us feel welcome, and were very professional. We got a wonderful wine recommended to go with the main course, which tasted delightful. This was an experience to remember, and we walked out feeling high on life! We hope to visit again!

If you’re visiting from overseas, avoid this restaurant. Very racist towards clients even tho surprisingly this is a hotel too. They made it purposefully very difficult for us, so that when we asked to leave after about 30 min, they were very happy to see to it. They didn’t even try to ask us what’s the problem or if they can rectify it. We were a group of 6 people from 3 different countries visiting the danfish expo.

We ate here during lunch hours. Service could be improved: lukewarm reception, 11 minutes until waiter visited table the first time, didn't follow up after serving the food, didn't ask how it tasted. Ok wait time on the food though, 22 mins. Ok food. Large portions. Ok prices. Owners should visit FYR in Oslo for inspiration on smørrebrød and service done right. Not exactly Michelin level.

Helpful service with getting a table near the window as we brought the baby carriage. Good atmosphere, nice wide tables which I found very nice compared to the usual small Cafe tables. The owner was nice but not the verbal waiter. Ordered from the menu - 3 pieces of smørrebrød. Very tasteful - lots of flavor, good combination. Would recommend for lunch. Haven't tried dinner but might with the experience at hand.

Excellent Danish smørrebrød and Garteaux Marcel. Decor is very modernistic and wall paintings are a very interesting choice, also in the bathrooms (go and see for yourself). Service is efficient and nothing wrong with that, but a little more friendly attitude would have made it 5 stars.

Very nice (and funny) restaurant, although very expensive (around 200€ per person). We had a 5 course meal with pairing wines. The food and wines were perfect (see pictures). Service was quite nice as well. We had attentive and pleasant waiters who explained every plate, promptly answered our questions and gave us some after meal spirits. There is an adult painting in the saloon (with frontal nudity) and explicit cartoons in the bathroom (including oral sex), which was a funny surprise.

Unfortunately the Menu has changed over the years what was once a Menu that would please anyone has now become fish focused. Unfortunately if you are not a fan of fish you will find very few options on their Menu. The food is fine if you like fish the wine pairing is always great 👍

The food was amazing, the 10 course taster menu was absolutely perfect and gave so many things to try. The desserts were fantastic. Service was perfect. And the non alcoholic juice pairing was superb. The cocktails were absolutely delicious also. 10 out of 10.

Cozy relaxed atmosphere, attentive waiters and great food. I didn’t want 4 glasses of wine as pairing so they mixed 2 wine and 2 juice and it was really nice!

A fantastic experience. Probably the best meal I've had in Aalborg. The Big Nam tasting menu is highly recommended. 15 servings, plus snacks and petit four, a welcome drink and 6 glasses of wine. The food was excellent, with clear inspiration and faithful interpretation of cuisine from various South East Asian countries.

Brilliant restaurant that combine new Nordic and Vietnamese food. The 10 course menu is enough to get your full and it was very tasty. I would like to try the 15 next time. Staff was very polite and service minded and provided an excellent service through the whole evening.
