Castles
Marmaris Castle and Archeology Museum is a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts. Situated on the site of the ancient Marmaris Castle, this 16th-century structure offers breathtaking views and houses a fascinating museum. The castle has a rich history, believed to have been initially built by the Ionians in 1044 BC and later expanded during Suleyman the Magnificent's reign in 1522.
We visited Marmaris Castle Museum on Sunday night and loved the new concept they’ve developed — The Night Museum. Since Marmaris can be extremely hot, visiting in the evening lets you explore comfortably, avoid the midday sun, and even enjoy the sunset from the castle walls. The museum features both open-air and indoor rooms, giving you a nice glimpse into the local history. It’s not a large museum, but it’s enough to understand the area’s ancient background. Our main reason for visiting was to see the newly discovered statue “Leyla” — a magnificent piece recently found by a local fisherman. The only downside was, unfortunately, the other visitors. Many seemed obsessed with taking photos from the castle walls, making it hard to find a quiet spot to simply enjoy the view. The walls had clear warnings not to sit or climb on them, yet many tourists ignored this for the sake of a photo. Please be respectful of the site and its history.

In Marmaris for a day trip and stopped by to visit the old castle in old town of Marmaris. It is a good mix between info and adventure. Beautiful view of Marmaris and the harbour! Takes maybe 40-60min for a visit. Make sure to also stop at the near by panorama bars.
Maik E — Google review
Wonderful Castle at the top of Marmaris old town. Well maintained and worth €6 entry. Great explanations attached to each exhibit including QR codes to take you to more detailed information. Amazing views across Marmaris and the bay, but cover up, there’s little shade. Wandering up the little streets to the castle was a lovely relief from the bazaar and energetic shop keepers. Take your time, get an iced coffee on the way up, don’t miss out on a hidden gem.
Adie A — Google review
Marmaris Castle offers a captivating glimpse into the region's rich history. While relatively small, the museum inside is well-curated, showcasing artifacts that bring the past to life. The real draw, however, is the panoramic view from the ramparts. Overlooking Marmaris Harbor, the bustling marina, and the surrounding coastline, it's a photographer's dream. The climb can be a bit steep, but the vistas are well worth the effort. A must-see for history buffs and anyone seeking stunning views. Don't forget your camera! The castle provides some excellent photo opportunities and overall a good experience with nice views and history.

Nice small castle, well looked after and has good views over the harbour. Honestly found the surrounding area (old town) more beautiful.

Beautiful castle. Lovely display of archeological finds. Great views from the top as well. We had a lovely time. Staff are really friendly. €6 to get in for an adult. There is somewhere to store prams at the entrance. We carried our son around, but he is only 7 months. A fair few stairs in the castle. Please note there are stairs to get up to entrance. Not wheelchair friendly.
Lisa P — Google review
Beautiful views, very quick to navigate and it's a lovely collection to walk around, however a large tour arrived just in front of us who hadn't organised their tickets beforehand. Hottest day of our holiday and we ended up queuing for almost half an hour in direct sunlight. Definitely could have been managed much better by opening another sales booth or moving the group to the side until they'd got sorted and allowing smaller groups to pass through first!
Chyrelle M — Google review
Visited Marmaris Castle. The view from on top of the castle were absolutely amazing, you could see all the way across Marmaris and out to sea. It also gave great views of the harbour and the boats coming in and out. There was a 6 euro entry fee, but it was worth it. The castle its self isn't very big but has a lot of information about it's history, with some good artifacts to look at. It's isn't buggy friendly but the staff were really helpful and let us leave our buggy at the main office while we walked around. There are quite a lot of steps to gain access to the different parts of the castle which might be difficult for some people.

Store
The Grand Bazaar in Marmaris is a bustling hub for avid shoppers. Situated at the heart of the city, it offers an array of local shops and boutiques where visitors can find souvenirs and various items. The lively atmosphere and opportunity to haggle with shopkeepers make it an exciting experience. It's recommended to visit earlier in the day to avoid crowds, but regardless of when you go, you're likely to find great deals on a variety of goods.
This is the usual bazaar in Turkey sellers will bother you to enter their shops, I am giving 5 stars only with my experience with one shop called Prestige, Hari the manager was pleasant I wasn't called to go inside so I decided to go in and Hari introduced himself and said if I needed help just ask he didn't follow me around and tried selling stuff. I walked around got what I wanted and negotiated the price very simple transaction. His goods are very good quality too the best I've seen in the bazaar and anywhere in Dalaman. If you're here look for Prestige store take the second entrance from the intersection across the Turkish flags landmark and the shop is on the corner. Ask for Hari he is a gentleman! No ripping off in this shop.
Generation X — Google review
Warning for Future Shoppers at Grand Bazaar During my visit to the Grand Bazaar, I encountered some aggressive sales tactics that I feel I need to warn others about. While many businesses are friendly and respectful, my experience was not ideal. As I walked through the bazaar, I was repeatedly called into shops, where the sellers engaged in friendly chatter to entice me to make a purchase. I appreciated the pleasant conversation, but there was significant pressure to buy more than I intended. Despite this, I stood firm on my choices. We eventually agreed on a price of £100, and I made the mistake of paying by card. To my shock, when I returned to my hotel, I noticed I had been charged €200 instead! My advice: take cash and stick to a firm price. If a seller tries to charge more, don’t hesitate to walk out; they may quickly agree to your price. While not all traders are like this, please be cautious. As a first-time visitor to Marmaris, this experience will likely deter me from returning. It’s unfortunate that greed can overshadow the experience in Turkey. Stay safe and vigilant!
Kristian T — Google review
Didn’t find I was hassled too much although others in my party were hassled much more than I was. Can probably find anything you need in here. I have been in other bazaar/ souk type places before and I wouldn’t say it’s my favourite one but probably the easiest to walk through out of them all. Good locations right by the beach, restaurants and taxi ranks.
Ellie B — Google review
Never-ending line of clothing shops. Good spot to go out for a meal. Great choice of different cousines. You can also find some reasonably priced restaurants/takeaways in this area. Just look for the ones without alcohol and with locals dining inside. There's also some good sweets shops in there as well as herbal/nuts/spices ones.
Grzegorz B — Google review
Perhaps not a 'grand' as its namesake in Istanbul - nonetheless, it was good to wander through for a browse. We didn’t get hassled to much (which was good) and allowed us to enjoy window shopping. You seem to be able to find most anything you need in here. probably not the best - but certainly one of the easiest to walk through. Good location right by the beach.
Norm P — Google review
I don’t post reviews but this experience prompted me. If you’re in Marmaris and thinking of visiting the Grand Bazaar, I’d strongly suggest skipping it—especially the shop called Pablo. You’re far better off doing your shopping at the high street in Marmaris or İçmeler, where shops are more transparent with pricing. Look for stores that clearly display prices and are open to fair negotiation. At Pablo, the experience was particularly bad. They quoted an extremely high price for an item we later found elsewhere at one-third of the price—and with better quality. What they were offering was simply not worth it. The product quality was subpar, and the pricing felt like a blatant attempt to overcharge unsuspecting tourists. Yes, the shop’s decor might look nicer than others, but don’t let that fool you—what really matters (quality, price, honesty) just isn’t there. Worse still, the attitude changed quickly when we didn’t fall for the inflated pricing. The tone became condescending and borderline rude, which made the whole experience feel draining and unpleasant. Haggling is expected in markets, but here it felt like a game you were meant to lose from the start. I’m giving this 2 stars only because a few other shops in the bazaar were more relaxed and not overly pushy. Still, if you’re looking for an enjoyable shopping experience during your holiday, this place just isn’t worth your time.
Pete M — Google review
Avoid shop called Pablo here!! Overall,The place was truly disappointing and not worth spending time at. Most of the shop owners were pushy . One example was a shop called Pablo — the person there was particularly sly, quoting prices nearly three times higher than reasonable. When I didn’t engage with his tactics, he turned condescending and rude. Overall, it was one of the worst shopping experiences I’ve had.

Marina
Nature & Parks
Setur Netsel Marmaris Marina is a stunning and popular attraction in Marmaris. The marina is surrounded by picturesque mountains, offering a beautiful setting for leisurely walks along the esplanade. Colorful boats with Turkish flags line the clear blue waters, creating a charming atmosphere. The walkways are adorned with flower beds, fountains, and sculptures, while an array of bars, restaurants, and shops provide ample entertainment options.
A really beautiful marina, lovely to walk around by day (very hot of course) or by night. Lots of flashy yachts to admire and lots of restaurants and bars - more of a family vibe though rather than drunks teens which is nice. Highly recommend an evening stroll and a meal under the sky. Don't forget to stroll up to the impressive castle if you have a chance too.

Lovely for a swim but lots of stones so u will need beach shoes. No sun beds or loungers. Just bring ur Towel and sit on sand. There is a little bit with a rail that has man made hard floor under sea to get into sea to avoid the stones

Very nice place to wait for a ferry. Bathrooms are super clean! See a bunny or two while you are there.
Ray U — Google review
Very nice well designed place with whatever a sailor can need such as warm water, every time clean big spaced toilets with hair dryer. Good shopping area with many cafes restaurants and sailing shops, a very close super market just next to marine, close to heart of Marmaris just a few minutes walk you are in castle historic area and bar streets.
Elgin K — Google review
It used to be very nice and friendly, in the last two years prices have become unreasonable. Let me explain: first of all is very noisy at night (both from night clubs but also fron other boats partying) but the worst thing is the high speed powerboats entering or leaving the marina. So once in while unexpected waves come out of the blue caused by tenders. Additionally the behavior of certain staff + the refusal to speak English is funny when working in tourism! There is a rule in marketing called "willingness to pay", i don't mind the higher cost BUT downgrading the quality of your services is serious.
Spyros — Google review
The marina is impeccably clean and well run, the town has everything you cod need to refit your boat with. Most of the mariners speak good English and are very helpful and the technical support is also readily available. It is also a very safe and secure marina with someone attentively patroling on a tender through the night .

Indian restaurant
Taj Mahal Restaurant, situated on the Marmaris-Icmeler coastal road near Siteler, offers a unique Indian dining experience. Established in 1997, it has become renowned for its authentic Indian cuisine and tranquil atmosphere. The restaurant caters to diverse dietary preferences including vegetarian and halal options. Despite not being beachfront, it is a popular choice for those seeking flavorful Indian meals in Marmaris.
Very nice food and a wide selection of food. Food takes a little while to be served but you get free poppadoms which pass the time. Waiters and service is extremely good. I really liked how the glasses were cold and the water and drinks were always cold, it was smart. I visited a lot during my stay as it was the best food I had in Turkey. Food is priced the same as in the UK. Every time we visited, everyone gets served a deep fried ice cream for free which was tasty. Views were nice front the top

Possibly the best curry I've ever had, the lamb madras was incredible! The food was so good we had to come back a second time in our week long trip, definitely recommend if you like a curry. We obviously didn't have to time to try the whole menu (unfortunately) but the lamb tawal, chicken jalfreezi and Tikka masala were all delicious too, although the madras is probably my favourite. Very reasonably priced it cost about £30 per person for an amount of food that required a nap afterwards.

Wow blown away by the food and service 5 star AMAZING 10 out of 10 We had a situation at our hotel (sunrise hotel) with limited breakfast choices. I am a strict vegetarian and do not eat meat, fish and eggs. I don’t even eat where there is cross contamination with meat products. Which did cause stress and anxiety as I was out there with limited food options but Taj Mahal made my life easy. There was a huge selection of veg options and they were willing to go over and beyond to tailor to our needs. Great tasting food❤️ Wonderful staff, can’t thank them enough⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ thank you for the experience Taj Mahal ❤️🙏🏽

Didn't expect to find such an authentic Indian restaurant in Marmaris. The food was well spiced, you can taste the fresh herbs. The waiters were so kind and friendly. Service was fantastic and the food was great!!! Definitely authentic Indian food, it was so tasty. The dessert at the end was 10/10!! Such a shame that we came here on a last night in Turkey. We will definitely be back

Absolutely amazing ❤️❤️❤️ The service here is so friendly and fast. The staff are truly welcoming and so nice. If you want to have a genuine Indian meal in Marmaris this is definitely the place to go. We arrived and were seated within 10 minutes, drinks served while we waited, we didn’t mind waiting…the place is that good and people know it, so it is popular. We ordered popadoms and dips and they came in seconds and then tikka masala with pilau rice and garlic naans. Tikka might not sound adventurous but when it’s that tasty it’s hard to resist and the naans are to die for. Again all of this was served really quickly which was amazing. Afterwards we were presented with a lovely dessert, a sesame toasted pastry filled with ice cream and some syrup drizzled over, it was delicious and not too heavy. 1000% would recommend, if you are in Marmaris Don’t miss out 👍🥰

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Absolutely Incredible Experience at Taj Mahal Marmaris! From the moment we stepped into Taj Mahal Marmaris, we were treated like royalty. The food was nothing short of spectacular rich in flavor, beautifully presented, and bursting with authentic Indian spices that truly delighted the palate. Every dish was cooked to perfection, from the succulent tandoori to the perfectly spiced curries. The naan bread? Simply divine! But what really made our evening unforgettable was the exceptional service. A special shout-out to Richy (Recep) what a gem! He went above and beyond to ensure our dinner was perfect. From his warm welcome to his genuine care and attention throughout the evening, Richy made us feel so special. He truly elevated our experience and made our family dinner feel like a celebration. The ambiance was cozy and welcoming, and the whole evening flowed seamlessly. If you’re in Marmaris and craving delicious Indian cuisine with first-class service, Taj Mahal is a must-visit. We left with full hearts and even fuller bellies thank you to the entire team, especially Richy, for making our night so memorable. We’ll definitely be back if we ever come Marmaris again! 🙌🍛🇮🇳

Pineapple Restaurant, located in Netsel Marina at the heart of Marmaris, has been a popular dining spot since 1998. The restaurant is known for its picturesque garden and stunning views of the marina and sea. It offers a diverse menu featuring Turkish and Mediterranean cuisine prepared with fresh, local ingredients and modern culinary techniques. Guests can indulge in an array of delectable dishes including seafood, grilled meats, and vegetarian options.
We came here for our friend's birthday, we didn't have a reservation, but the staff was very friendly and found us a beautiful table with a great view. The food was delicious and portions were big. I had pasta with beef and mushroom sauce which tasted great. Prices are a bit higher than average but it is worth it.

Food inexpensive well worth the money £140 for 5 people mains starters and drinks. You definitely get more than what you pay for quality and quantity was good steaks cooked correctly. Downside even when half empty service quite poor inattentive waiting staff and what looked like owner trying to micro manage as opposed to running the restaurant. Would return but not when busy EDIT we did return everything was much better until someone either rich or famous came in with body guards and all attention was on serving them
Jim D — Google review
The food is decent, but I can't say the same about the prices. Some items on the menu are clearly overpriced. For example, a sea platter (a single leg of octopus, a single king prawn! and grilled calamari) costs €24. The alcohol seems to be overpriced as well. We had grilled monkfish and fillet steak as our mains. The fish was bland, and the sides were mediocre to say the least. However, the steak was cooked to perfection. For that reason I can't recommend the seafood at this place. They will need to improve on that.

Pretty cool location. The staff was very friendly and they were really tentative. The breakfast plate was good quality and tasty as well. However the fly situation is out of control. There were so many flies (seems unrelated to the restaurant but due to marina location) albeit it was an experience I can not recommend. We needed to move under a full blast fan to prevent flies from landing on food but still quite annoying experience.

We had such a lovely time at Pineapple Restaurant last night. The food was full of flavour, the staff made us feel so welcome, and the beautiful waterfront setting made the whole evening magical. We left with full hearts and full stomachs.

Pineapple Restaurant is one of the few dining establishments in Marmaris, with white tablecloths while still giving you a view of all the yachts moored within the marina. Good service, and they even handled our request to move as the sun slowly crept over our table. Nothing better than having a cheat day and enjoying a pizza. Yes, we ordered a Hawaiian (sorry to all those purist pizza lovers, Sally could not miss this opportunity). It reminded us of being back home in Australia. There is nothing better than starting your meal with a Mojito, and the bar ensures only the freshest ingredients are used in your cocktail. The yellow and white awnings give you that relaxed seaside vibe and suit this restaurant; ignore the logo (as a designer, I would not be proud of that design!). It doesn't represent the beautiful dining experience you will receive; therefore, don't be put off by casual branding. Pricing is reasonable considering the location, design and ambience. The wine list was large enough to ensure all taste styles were well catered.

Nice view, kind staff, and delicious food. The prices are great too, given the quality provided. Has a lot of outdoor seating and also many TVs outside. We ordered omelettes all around and it was one if the best omelettes I’ve had. Great location too!
Bertuğ B — Google review
We came to Turkey last year and we walked past Bono a few times, they were always busy. We came back in March 2025 and had dinner here. We didn't have a starter, just mains and dessert. My husband had the chicken with rice and chips, I had the Korean crispy chicken with rice. I liked mine and it was spicy in taste. My husband said he found it a little bland, it needed some spice. I couldn't decide between the apple pie and profiteroles. I opted for the profiteroles for dessert. I had no expectations. I had three very large profiteroles with strawberry ice cream instead of vanilla. It was delicious 😋. I was full after my main course, but I found room to eat it all. My husband was persuaded by a waiter to have the San Sebastian cheesecake, he said it was light. It was a very large piece of cake, which my husband who doesn't like leaving food on his plate couldn't finish. He said it was nice, but wouldn't have it again. We also had lunch then next day. I had the chicken quesadillas and my husband had the sea bass salad. Both were nice. I had cheery juice on both occasions, my husband had a beer at lunchtime and red wine with his dinner. We paid £61.90 for dinner, this included two glasses of red wine. For lunch we paid £29.00. No complaints, the service is good and quick. I'm not a fan of cats, so having them in a restaurant is not for me, especially when they stare at you waiting for food.

This bar is lovely! We went last night after reading good reviews and the staff were very attentive. We decided to have a mixture of sushi after being told how good it is (they have their own sushi counter) it was honestly delicious and melt in the mouth - we rated it 10/10 don't think it could have got any better. The prices were really reasonable too! We are planning on returning to try some other dishes. Check this place out if you're in the area!

After reading so many good reviews me and my daughter decided to try this place out after a long day, the food was good when it arrived eventually but wait times were too long and had to ask constantly when the food will be here. The first time I did was rudely ignored as I said politely ‘excuse me’ and was told ‘no English’ and blanked me, she didn’t even get anyone else for me to speak too. We waited over an hour for even our starter and loads of people were walking out! Eventually when the food came no one came and asked if it was ok or if we needed any more drinks. We was there a total of 2 hours and only offered a drink once! After I complained to the manager about the lack of service he bought over 2 free alcoholic cocktails which we refused as i was with my 14 year old daughter, after being blanked for another 10 minutes I then went to the till and stated I wasn’t prepared to pay the full price as I wasn’t happy with the service he then screwed the receipt up and told me to leave the restaurant without paying which i did and then when walking down the beachfront one member of staff who was really nice (didn’t get her name) and was the only decent member of staff got me back into pay, at the till the manager grabbed my cheek and was threatening to kick my head in if I refused to pay the full price, at this point I felt threatened and just paid it - luckily for him my daughter was there and would of been totally different if she wasn’t! And to top it off there was a cockroach by our table when we was leaving! We was told not to return ever again and that I will definitely will be doing.

We had dinner here. I had a salad and my husband had a bowl of 🍲 soup. Lovely food and service here. The warm chicken salad was huge and very nice. My husband said the seafood soup was very 🙂 We are going back for lunch and maybe dinner again.

Wonderful staff. Inviting and friendly. All the other restaurants were pushy and obxious. We actually talked to the former owners sitting next to us. The restaurant is now owned by the staff and it shows. The steak with rouquefort sauce was outstanding. The bolognese had peppers but was tasty. The standout was the homemade flat bread for the starters and garlic bread. Fantastic.

The lamb chops were okay. It was meant to come with Garlic butter, it came with cold, colagulated, stale, bland gravy... literally not what's on the menu, or what I paid for. Asked the waiter to buy bernaise sauce and he said no too. The sliced potato was lukewarm and tasted old too. Restaurant was empty so confused was to why the food was so bad.

The portions are huge, we tried the spaghetti bolognese and ut was mid, the lasagna was a little better, and we ordered a creme sauce spaghetti with chicken which i liked the most, the prices are great for their portions.

Hands down the best restaurant we tried in all of Marmaris! After a week of underwhelming meals across the city, this place was a total game changer. We ordered steaks and pizza — both were absolutely fire. The sauces were next level — I had the black pepper sauce and it was insanely good. Everything hit just right. Overall: 10/10. Highly recommend.

Just went to rickys today to try. My wife got the fish and chips myself and daughter got chicken doner wraps my daughter had chips with hers. All the seating is outside really warm thoo but food was great and really warm freshly made. Fish is probably better than most fish the UK sell. No bones in the fish wraps were large but me and my daughter only managed half each but they were happy to wrap left overs to take with us. I had chilli sauce in my wrap was good slightly hotter than a tobasco sauce. Chips were better than any chips u get in a uk chippy. Oh and they give you more than 5 chips lol. Our bill for the 3 meals and 2 large drinks was 990 lira i think thats pretty great. The 2 young lads served us and they were really friendly.

It was our first experience of trying fish n chips and it was wonderful it tasted so good, the service was perfect people were so kind we couldn’t eat pork because of our religion so we stated that and we asked them to cook the fish and the pork separately. the chef came and told us that we was going to do it separately just for us and were so thankful for the service we’ll def come back later thanks for everything!!
