Great market, a lot to choices (fish, vegetables, fruit, restaurants, meats, etcโ€ฆ) and very clean. There is a local restroom and parking lots around the area. I am sure it gets busy during the day.

During a recent visit to the historic Andong market, I had the opportunity to savor Andong's renowned steamed chicken and witness the mesmerizing Hahoe mask dance during a weekend event. It was uplifting to observe the notable improvements in the market's cleanliness compared to previous years, making it an even more compelling destination.

Andong Folk Village is a captivating destination that offers a glimpse into the rich history and tradition of Andong. The village is connected to Wolyeong Bridge, providing a picturesque setting for a leisurely stroll in nature. With its traditional houses and beautiful lotus flowers, the village exudes charm and tranquility. Visitors can also explore the small reconstructed village along the riverbank, offering a relaxing and green environment.
The Andong Folk Village, located right beside the Andong Folk Museum, is a peaceful, open-air space that brings Koreaโ€™s traditional countryside to life. With preserved and recreated hanok homes, farming tools, totem poles, and ritual spaces, it offers a quiet, immersive walk through history. Would be prettier with lights by the night. The village stretches along the edge of a serene lake, with beautiful views and lots of space to explore on footโ€”so be prepared for a fair bit of walking. Itโ€™s a perfect place to slow down, take photos, and imagine how people lived centuries ago. Peaceful, uncrowded, and surrounded by nature, itโ€™s one of the most charming spots in Andong.

See some old thatched houses of the past. Itโ€™s pretty hard to get to here by public transport since the only bus that comes by is infrequent. Get a taxi to and fro would be the best option. Youโ€™d probably only stay 30mins-1hr here

If it were cleaned up a bit, there would be a lot more visitors and it would become more widely known. There's nothing to see, and since it's summer, the bugs are flocking... Why are there so many hills, and the road up is difficult... However, one thing that is comforting is that the photos came out pretty.. haha. Bridge
Wolyeong-jeong is a serene and picturesque destination in Andong, South Korea. It offers a tranquil atmosphere with well-maintained paths for leisurely strolls along the river under the canopy of beautiful trees. The bridge, Woryeonggyo Bridge, provides fabulous views during both day and night, making it an ideal spot to immerse oneself in the breathtaking scenery.
Got to visit the bridge at night, which I highly recommend. We took a walk here after dinner and the view did not disappoint. It's a peaceful spot to take a walk and admire the night view of Andong. (small side note - if you don't like spiders like me though, it's not the best place to go as they were EVERYWHERE)
Rafaela S โ€” Google review
Woryeonggyo, or the Moonlight Bridge, is one of Andongโ€™s most iconic and tranquil landmarks. This long wooden pedestrian bridge stretches across the calm waters of the Nakdong River, offering a peaceful, scenic walk that connects the folk museum and village to the opposite shore. The gentle sound of water, the cool breeze, and the surrounding nature make the experience almost meditative. Whether you visit in the early morning or at sunset, the walk across is serene and unhurriedโ€”perfect for reflection or quiet conversation. At night, the bridge glows with soft lights, adding a touch of romance and magic. If youโ€™re looking for a beautiful, calming place to walk and unwind, Woryeonggyo is unforgettable.

We visited at around 6pm. Many locals where casually strolling. The bridge and the surroundings were so beautifully lit! It was totally worth it!

This was a very nice place to visit!!! The bridge and the surrounding scenery was beautiful and the performance depicting the human bridge for Korean royalty was entertaining. Andong is one of my favorite cities in Korea!!!!
Michael J โ€” Google review
During the recent festival, I had the opportunity to visit the bridge and admire the nighttime views of the surrounding area. Despite the beautiful scenery, the high volume of visitors made it challenging to navigate the area, and the traffic and parking situation were quite difficult to manage. I recommend avoiding visiting the bridge on weekends or during special events to appreciate its breathtaking views fully.

๐ŸŒ‰ Night Walk Across Wolyeonggyo Bridge โ€“ A Peaceful Evening Retreat in Andong ๐Ÿ“… Date of Visit: Autumn evening, around 8 PM ๐Ÿ‘ฃ Purpose: Leisure walk and sightseeing ๐Ÿ“ Location & Accessibility: Wolyeonggyo Bridge is located in Andong, Gyeongsangbuk-do, South Korea, and is easily accessible by car or taxi. For those using public transportation, itโ€™s a short ride from downtown Andong. The bridge is situated near Woryeongjeong Pavilion and other attractions, making it a convenient stop on a night tour of the area. ๐Ÿš— Parking & Surroundings: Thereโ€™s ample parking available near the entrance to the bridge, with both free and paid options depending on how close you want to park. The area surrounding the bridge is calm and peaceful, especially in the evening, with a scenic riverside path and a quiet residential backdrop. ๐Ÿž First Impressions & Entrance: Approaching the bridge at night is a beautiful experience. The wooden architecture of the pavilion at the center of the bridge, Woryeongjeong (์›”์˜์ •), is beautifully lit, casting warm glows on the path and the water below. The path leading up to it is lined with soft lighting, giving off a tranquil, almost magical feel. ๐Ÿ› Interior & Ambience: The bridge and the pavilion are made of intricately carved wood with traditional Korean architecture. The pavilion itself offers a stunning overhead structure, showcasing expert craftsmanship and symmetry. Itโ€™s well-maintained and spotlessly clean. The mood is serene, with soft murmurs from visitors and the gentle sound of the river adding to the ambiance. Itโ€™s perfect for those looking for a peaceful moment of reflection or quiet conversation. ๐Ÿช‘ Seating & Comfort: Inside the pavilion, there are wooden benches where you can sit and enjoy the view. The area is spacious enough to accommodate groups but retains a sense of intimacy, ideal for couples or solo visitors. Though itโ€™s open-air, the structure provides a sense of shelter and calm. ๐Ÿ’ก Lighting & Visuals: The night lighting is subtle yet effective, highlighting the beauty of the structure without overwhelming the natural darkness. Reflections from the bridge and surrounding lights shimmer on the Nakdong River, adding to the charm of the experience. The views of the riverbanks lined with autumn-colored trees and lights are especially picturesque and worth a moment of stillness. ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿคโ€๐Ÿง‘ Staff & Crowd: No staff interaction is required here, as this is a public structure, but the area felt safe and well-monitored. The crowd was modest during the eveningโ€”mostly families, couples, and a few solo travelers enjoying a quiet night walk. ๐Ÿ’ฐ Price & Value: Visiting Wolyeonggyo is completely free, making it one of the most cost-effective yet memorable experiences you can have in Andong, especially at night. No entrance fees, no hidden costsโ€”just a beautifully preserved cultural site open to all. ๐Ÿ”š Final Thoughts & Recommendation: Wolyeonggyo Bridge at night is a hidden gem for those seeking peace, scenic beauty, and a touch of tradition. Itโ€™s perfect for couples on a romantic walk, families with children, or travelers wanting to capture stunning night photos. The traditional Korean architecture, paired with the calm river and ambient lighting, creates a soothing, almost poetic experience. โญ Overall Rating: 4.8/5 Would I return? Absolutely. Especially during another season to experience a different moodโ€”perhaps during spring cherry blossoms or winter snow. Recommended for: Couples, photographers, solo travelers, and anyone looking for a relaxing night stroll in a culturally rich setting.

Definitely worth the detour, especially at night. The lanterns along the bridge all light up and it is so magical. There is a walking path across from the bridge that is lovely and also bug spray stations. There are also toilets and a few restaurants and a convenience shop.

It offers insights into the history of the area and showcases exhibits that provide a glimpse into life in old Korea. Hardly anyone there! Some beautiful houses rescued when the dam was built in the 70s. I think they are in the process of restoring, but some are close to being irreparably damaged. Don't miss walking the wooden walkway from the city
