Stunning and well cared for gardens. Loved the accuracy of the gardening to keep things symmetrical. Borders were full and thriving. The historic ruins were fascinating. Perfect place for a walk, picnic, family afternoon.
I came here today with my little family, and we had a lovely few hours here! We loved seeing the aviary, the gardens (which are stunning!), seeing the ruins and our daughter loved the play area! Highly recommend for an afternoon out with the family.
A great place to stop for a picnic 🥪 . Some lovely ruins to explore and a beautiful flowers 💐. Be careful not to get hit by the water sprinkler. There are lots of benches all around the edges and a few tables near the gate. I loved looking at the birds. 🦜🐦🦜
The sheer history of this place is awe-inspiring and simply stunning! The combination of a beautiful cathedral, well cared-for gardens and the Abbey ruins makes it a perfect place to explore, relax and learn more about history, allowing you to imagine just how vast and powerful the abbey was in its heyday!
Abbey Gardens in Bury St Edmunds is absolutely beautiful and such a joy to visit. The gardens are perfectly maintained, full of colour and seasonal blooms, with peaceful paths to wander and plenty of seating to take in the views. The historic Abbey ruins add a fascinating sense of history and make the setting even more special. It’s a wonderful spot for a relaxing stroll, a picnic, or simply to enjoy some quiet time in stunning surroundings. Truly one of the highlights of Bury St Edmunds

If you are into churches, this is a must. The church itself is a very well maintained, and free to tour. But the grounds and the old ruins are what is very interesting about this church. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. I'm sure on the summer they are amazing. The town was very nice, lots of stores to visit.
An overnight stay in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk for a concert. The next morning we did some sightseeing including the cathedral. Must say I was impressed, by the staff as much as the building itself, they really were welcoming. No charge to go in but they do strongly suggest a donation. (we paid it by card, with gift aid, modern world). It's a church, so it won't be for everyone but I just found it attractive, and clearly used for community events, not just for worship. There is a Lego model of the cathedral, which is impressive for Lego lovers. In summary if you like places of worship, you'll love it.
A beautiful cathedral inside and out, and with a rich history! Stunning views of the cathedral from the Abbey Gardens. Fascinating to think that today's cathedral once formed part of the Abbey, which now largely lies in ruins, but which was absolutely massive in scale. A must-see for history fanatics (and everyone else!).
This time the weather failed to show its English character - cold, rain and wind. 🤣 But, as they say - wet, rain is not afraid. 🤭You can see from the photos the gardens and ruins of the Benedictine monastery. ⛪ It was one of the largest and richest for its time in England. 😮 It stood here from its creation in 1020 until its collapse in 1539. I was very impressed by how the Main Norman Tower from the 14th century has been almost completely preserved. 😯 And from the gardens you can see the beautiful new cathedral. ⛪ Exceptional wood carving on the chairs and the organ. 👌 This town is the perfect place to escape with your family and friends and enjoy a pleasant walk... 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️
The cathedral and surrounding abbey ruins and parkland are glorious add to this the medieval town, market and modern shopping centre there is something for everyone. I recommend booking the additional tower tour which includes fantastic views to all sides of the town from the top. Reasonably priced parking nearby.
Very interesting to have a look inside this cathedral. Free to go in and take as much time as you need. Donation is much appreciated. A cafe is also situated within the buildings. Well worth a look ,👍
St Edmundsbury Cathedral is the cathedral for the Church of England. Highly interesting building that is currently used for more/additional purposes. There is no entrance fee, but a donation is appreciated.
Definately worth visiting (visit both the Cathedral and the Abbey gardens, well worth the trip). Amazing stained glass, and the lego model is A+++ Entrance free by donation

At £20, I thought the price was somewhat steep but actually, lasting two hours, it was an extremely enjoyable experience. Paul, our guide, showed us not only the brewing process, but explained in some detail, the background to the company and how it has developed over the years. Aged 71, I was anxious about the clamber up to the roof but it was absolutely worth it, with spectacular views for miles around. We even met one of the brewers, who was about to knock up an enormous batch of 'Old Speckled Hen'. I have been on many brewery tours over the years and while it's not a patch on the way Heineken do it in Amsterdam, when they move their operations to the outskirts of Bury St. Edmunds, maybe there is an opportunity to really develop their tour programme.
The brewery tour was amazing and very good value for money. Both of us enjoyed it, even though one of us loves beer and the other isn't too keen. It was so interesting to hear about this old business and the history of making beer. There is also a wonderful view of Bury at the top! Our guide John was very knowledgeable and a good story teller. The tasting afterwards was really in depth and we tried so many more beers than expected, so there was something for everyone! And then to walk away with a complimentary bottle and a discount on the shop... a really great experience.
Brewery tour is well worth doing, the view at the top looking out over Bury is worth the money. As working brewery it can be really hot inside and there are some steep steps to climb.
Best brewery tour in the world. Entertaining and full history and culture Chris did an amazing job.
Best brews in England, the tour was lovely as was our guide, John. £20pp is a bit steep for either the walk tour or the brewery tour. But, there are plenty of beer tasters to include discounts in the cafe. Also, there is a spectacular view of Bury from the rooftop. If you go on Sunday, bring cash as the till is closed. Go to Dog & Partridge (located directly across from cafe) afterward for another pint or 4.
Tour was well worth doing. The reception staff were very friendly. The guide (Steve) was well versed with the history of the brewery and a keen beer drinker. The tour duration is about 1 hour and a half and ends with a beer tasting session of around 20 minutes. There are 114 steps from the road outside to the roof so be prepared. The view of Bury Saint Edmund from the roof top is great. There is a small shop on site where Greeneking beers can be purchased. There is also a small coffee shop on site called Beer Cafe. If this is review is helpful please press like.
John was great tour guide. Price is fair as it really includes 3 pints for price of admission. Best brewery tour I have gone on
We had a great tour around which was about 1.5 hrs. Toilets in the main shop area so make sure you go before the tour starts. Was great testing all the ales upstairs in a private bar after the tour. Well worth the money and very interesting.

Laura and Julian and the rest of the team were fantastic at our business event for 60plus people last night. The food and drinks were amazing, the reception/function rooms was perfect and then we did our presentation in one of the actual cinema room. I couldn’t recommend the team enough for something a little different from an event space.
Excellent independent cinema with 3 screens and a varied selection of films, theatre, arts, etc. Has a good restaurant and wide range of quality snacks to go with your film. Licensed and you can take drinks into the films. One gripe would be the selection of beers ranging from super safe to poor
Was nice enough until we got sent to the wrong screen, that was showing the last 15 minutes of the film we were going to watch. We sat and watched at first thinking it was something else, and soon realised we just watched the end of the film we'd come to see, spoiling the movie. Because of that decided to leave, won't be coming again
Booked to see Jurassic World Rebirth on Wednesday 2nd July. An hour before the scheduled start time, my partner and her daughter, who had booked separately, both received an email informing them that the screening had been cancelled due to a faulty projector. Annoying as we'd travelled 15 miles and paid for parking, but fair enough - these things happen. The email stated that the cinema would be in touch shortly to offer either a refund or tickets for another showing. After more than a week passed with no contact, both my partner and her daughter emailed the cinema, and both received an abrupt (automatic?) response stating that no refunds are given. They had to follow this up with ANOTHER email to get response from a human being who informed them that they had (just) issued a refund. No apologies or explanations or goodwill gestures were offered. in contrast, when nearby Cineworld had a fire alarm go off during a screening, we got free tickets. We may never have heard from the Abbeygate at all had we not chased them. Otherwise, the cinema is nice enough, though as others have said, staff are often disinterested at best and it can be cold. But after this experience, we're unlikely to go there again.
It's so lovely to see a film in this independent cinema, which has so much history to it. The experience is so much more personal than being in one of the big cinemas.
If you are looking for a unique and non-commercial movie theatre, you have found it in the Abbeygate Cinema. Every film experience I have had at Abbeygate has been brilliant. They play new releases and old classics (I finally got to see Jaws on the big screen last summer thanks to Abbeygate). Give it a go and I think you will become as hooked as I am on Abbeygate Theatre!
Super cute and unique theater. You will love this place especially if you’re a big film buff. This was the first date we went in after moving to the UK from the states and was pleasantly surprised at just how cool this movie theater was, far from average. It’s small and only a few small screens - but a much better experience. They play a large variety of films, and have lots of special screenings from what I gathered. One being a “mothers screening” during the week where moms with small babies can go watch a movie at a lower volume with dim lights with only other mothers and babies in case of an outbursts a child may have. I thought this was a lovely idea for mothers who may be bored and lonely to still get out of the house and have some fun when they have a little one. Downstairs is a restaurant and bar, which is perfect. Upstairs are the screens. The prices and reasonable and the service was great. I love the decorations and all the movie references and artwork. It really was a great pick me up after such a big and scary move for us with the military and meant a lot to us as huge film fans to find this place.
Love this cinema - comfy seats, sofas, great selection of food and drink, less expensive than the chain cinemas, and just feels really nostalgic but not outdated. Highly recommend.

Great price for King Arthur. Great show. Lots of laughing out loud. First visit, amazing theatre. Booking staff were so excellent and helpful. 👏👏
A very nice theatre, compact, intimate and olde worlde. We saw a comedy show. We were in F5/6 in the upper circle and luckily there was 4 people in the booth instead of the maximum 6. It might have been a bit snug with all the seats occupied. The sound was good and we had no trouble hearing the comedians. As you can see in the picture there are columns in view, however they are quits thin and not really an issue. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The bar area has limited indoor seating but has outdoor seating which could be used in nicer weather. It was nice and warm in there though. Prices are quite normal for a theatre. All in all a nice place to see the show, I would like to come back and see a play type show soon.
Just seen another fabulous production at this amazing theatre, The Sword in the Stone. Well devised, well performed and well done to everyone involved. Keep up the good work and I am so proud to be a Donor Member.
A lovely and intimate theatre. Seating in the upper circle is a bit snug when all six seats in the box are full, and getting in and out can be a little tricky due to the quirky layout of the seats. You also have to lean forward when seated in the upper circle to get a clear view of the wings. That said, the staff are very warm and welcoming, which made it a delightful experience overall.
Only because it was closed on a Saturday. I never thought for a second that a National Trust property would be closed on a Saturday. Quite spoilt my morning plans! Well having given it two stars originally, I attended the first of three shows I have booked in the next month, so managed, at last, to get inside. A lot has changed since I was last here in the 1980's to interview Acker Bilk for the BBC. It's still the charming Regency Theatre it ever was with quirky boxes that involve a lot of standing up to allow the middle person in each row to sit down. The matinee performance of 'Handbagged' about Margaret Thatcher's interaction with The Queen was mildly amusing, rather than 'Fiercely Funny' as the handbill claimed. I couldn't figure out why there were two Queens and two Mrs. T's. The best lines were from the two men, who played a myriad of roles. One was Michael Shea, the Queen's Press Secretary, whose mum taught me maths in the 1960's. Apart from the millions that have been spent on refurbishment, there's a lot different front of house. A spacious bar, incorporating a shop and a lovely garden make for plenty of space for pre-show and interval socialising. Next time, I will take some pictures of the garden and bar. Promise.
Lovely evening in a very cleverly designed auditorium. Cosy seating which is surprisingly comfortable and an intimate feel making the performance immediate with excellent sightlines for all I'd imagine. The only slight niggle was the foyer being quite small, there's nowhere really to sit if the auditorium doors aren't already open when you arrive and for elderly patrons this could be an issue. All the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful.
Photographed a few shows and events here. Beautiful theatre. Love working with the staff. All really great people. Dorothy in Oz was awesome. Great work guys
Went to an evening performance of 'Sherlock Holmes - the hunt for Moriarty'. Our seats up in the Gallery were cramped and uncomfortable - no surprise - it's usually like that up in 'the gods' in any theatre. But the real disappointment was the truly awful sound quality up there - we maybe got 30% of the dialogue. The sound system and sound engineer need to do a better job in the Gallery.

Went to enjoy the Dragon Fest. Never been here before. Nice and rich museum, great to see some authentic houses from that era. Dragon Fest was great, lots of things to do, something always happened to keep the children busy and occupied. The Village is part of the Country Park and there's a playground, access from the car park.
Great place to go for a long walk walk or a short one if you prefer. We walked around the river and through woods. Very quiet during the week. Dogs are allowed but have to be on a lead. Coffe place available. Lovely day out. Plenty of parking which can be payef with card or via app.
Love the lake walk and view point openings. The geese were friendly and we always enjoy a coffee at the cafe. Cost £12 for three latte's, which was worth it. This is our second time visiting and we always enjoy it, and wait till the end to burn off the last remaining energy at the adventure playground.
Lovely little family day out. Nice play park adjacent. People in the visitors centre are wonderful. Sadly the entire place is overrun with wasps including in the cafe which made it unusable. Absolutely not the centres fault but put a real dampener on the day.
An absolute treasure trove or fascinating Information and artefacts. The museum is only small but holds so many wonders of the ancient landscape that surrounds this fascinating place. The staff are a sheer delight and were almost over generous in the time and passion that they shared with us for the treasures in their care. Stephanie showed us round and took time to discuss the collection in depth and the entire visit was a treat and that is before we even stepped outside in to the village and met Kaj and the other actors, working hard out in the sunshine sharing skills and ancient knowledge with the other guests. The cafe is Clean and spacious and the staff were all cheerful and a pure delight. The food was great and for a light lunch it was a great break in a busy day of historical research in this beautiful corners of Suffolk.
The Dark Ages may have been radically different from the finesse of the Roman era but this site demonstrates how the Anglo Saxons developed and improved their own building techniques. Fascinating and fun moving from one house to the next seeing how things changed but the smell of wood smile stayed the same!! The indoor museum is very well laid out and pitched at a variety of levels to be enjoyed by everyone.
It's wonderful to have a place to discover the stories of the area. Learning about the past can bring a deeper appreciation for the present. The opportunity to learn and connect with history is truly valuable. .
A lovely way to spend a few hours. The exhibition room and museum are surprisingly detailed and informative and set you up perfectly for the reconstructed Anglo-Saxon village, bringing the site to life. I didn't have time to hike the trails, but imagine these would reinforce the feeling of walking through history in the footsteps of our ancestors.

Excellent food in a beautiful setting. The menu is full of great options. We had the trout and mackerel starters, both were delicious. The mains were just as good and the blood orange pavlova was perfection. We loved the ethos behind the whole estate too. A great place
I feel that I must now write a review as this is the second time recently that my partner and I have had a terrible experience at The Leaping Hare. As a Birthday treat my partner arranged a special meal. We both chose the 10oz steak as our main course and at £40.00 per plate, we were hopeful of something special. Both plates arrived extremely quickly, this consisted of the steak, a very small pile of rocket, one single slice of mushroom and a few hand cut, large chips - and sadly as before, on stone cold plates, something we had flagged up on a previous visit. It was clear that my steak in particular had a enormous wedge of fat, this was literally half the width of the steak. The Manageress was extremely apologetic, very professional and quickly arranged for another steak to be cooked, which was a great improvement but it did cause the rest of our main course to be out of sync. I usually choose to have a main course and a desert as I struggle to eat three courses but I ended up skipping desert as well as the menu was very un-inspiring and limited, with mainly ice-creams or sorbets. Our experience of the staff has been very positive, but we cannot overlook the dismal meals and basic mistakes. It appears that the Chef has let the team down enormously, I'm not sure how or why that steak left the kitchen on a plate destined for a customer. We were not on our own, as other diners had exactly the same experience in the same sitting. This experience certainly tarnished our evening and whilst we were happy to give The Leaping Hare a second chance after our previous terrible meal in February, we do not feel that they deserve a third chance.
Fantastic service, they were very attentive and had very good recommendations on which wines worked the best with our meals. My beef melted on my pallet and the mash was buttery and smooth. I highly recommend experiencing Wyken Vineyards.
Lovely grounds, the shop is really nice for a mooch. We had a lunch, outdoors from the cafe. The service was excellent. We had a cheese scone which wasn't good. Overpowered by chives and it was definitely microwaved. Everything else was OK. It was busy. We left unimpressed. We've been before hoping the fresh pizza kiosk was open, as it was excellent, sadly it wasn't.
Absolutely wonderful meal at The Leaping Hare last night. First but definitely not our last visit. The food was exceptional, the service spot on. Each course brought new flavours & new twists on tried & true flavours. Quality food & beautifully presented but definitely quality over fanciful whims or over the top presentation. The flavours were rich & offered depth & interest. Highly recommend the hare (the confit was out of this world & the Sea Buckthorn Pavlova exquisite) Service was very personable & professional. Could not fault a thing. Fabulous meal, wonderful evening.
We booked lunch at the restaurant before a vineyard tour. Knowing it’s a busy place we allowed 1.5 hours for lunch. Sadly we waited half an hour before our starters or drinks arrived. My aperitif came after starters were served. My husband ordered a beer which was served in a wine glass with the excuse that there were no beer glasses available. The starter portions were very small for the price but tasty. The main course and wine were lovely. Unfortunately due to the very slow service we did not have time for dessert and left for the tour. I’m afraid this is not the first time we have experienced poor service here and it really puts a damper on the visit. We were charged £18.24 service charge even though I complained about it at the time. The waitress said “yes I know, sorry about that” and walked away! We won’t be back.
A quiet and friendly place to eat. No dogs allowed in the restaurant. There's a shop which is quite expensive... all the usual nick-nacks, books, blankets, and other usual stuff that befits a destination shop. Nice quality items though. And there's a market every Saturday, but this ends mid afternoon so get there early. All the food, plants and other goods are of real quality. I love this place to while away a couple of hours. We always take our pooch Louie, he particularly likes the cheese stall with it's taster board 😋 There's also a small coffee shop which does excellent coffee, pastries and the like. Well worth a visit.
We went to the Wyken Vineyards for the wine tasting tour at the weekend, which we found to be very informative and good value (the history of the vineyard etc was explained well). Seeing the vineyard itself was great and then tasting two white wines, sparking wine and their new Gin was fun - we did purchase a bottle or two on leaving! We then ate as a Four in the Laughing Hare restaurant - amazing food and highly recommended! An unfortunate accidental spillage of red wine by the waiter was very calming and efficiently dealt with by the Restaurant Manager who could not have been more apologetic and helpful. Highly recommended.

It's an absolutely beautiful, cozy and relaxing hotel. The staff were very welcoming and kind. Everything was convenient and beautifully done. A really lovely breakfast and everything was clean and well presented. The only thing I would say is the curtains do leave large gaps, but I would only be not picking. It was only for one night, but it had been a really lovely stay.
This review is for one of the two bedroom cottages. Rooms 15 & 16. The cottage has a full kitchen with a 4 person dining table. A couch with two chairs (that I was a bit hesitant to sit on as they looked like they would make me smell like grandma). The upstairs has two separate bedrooms. One with an attached bath. The other has a bath in the hall. The pros: - solid walls and doors so limited noise from outside your room in room 16. However I can hear the tv quite clearly from the other cottage while in room 15. - comfy bed with enough pillows to make a fort - great water pressure and heat in the shower. The detached bathroom feels like it could use a deep clean, especially the back of the door. Attached bath was cleaner. - kitchen has all the amenities (excluding consumables like cooking oil) - Made to order breakfast - Some parking - Short walk to the city centre - super nice staff - daily maid service - strong fans provided - lovely garden area The cons: - they turn down your room even if you lock the door. I suppose you could ask reception to not do that. (Apparently there is a do not disturb sign, but one of the rooms did not have it). - sinks have amazing water pressure (which may splash your clothes when you first turn it on) - stairs are narrow heel-to-toe so you must be careful - spider webs are not cleared out near the windows or entryway - the alley is quite narrow to get into the car park and visibility is a bit limited when leaving - could use a luggage stand. Like one that folds up when not in use - both washing machines in the main building smell like wet dog and one of them is moldy. Even after using the dryer, my clothes still smell like the washing machine.
A group of 9 of us stayed while on a walking holiday of the area. Lovely comfortable rooms. Very clean. Staff friendly and did everything to make our stay a great experience. Very good breakfast with a large selection of food. Couldn’t fault anything. Walking distance to the brewery and a very good selection of pubs and restaurants . Would definitely recommend and would stay again if in the area.
Great base for a visit to Bury st Edmunds, very nice old listed building, super breakfast and friendly staff, clean and welcoming.
I recently stayed at The Abbey Hotel as I needed to attend a course at West Suffolk Hospital. I loved my stay! The rooms are very clean, comfortable and homely. There are so many thoughtful touches - dressing gowns, slippers, tea, mugs, biscuits, WiFi. The bedding was white and clean, plus lovely soft, snowy white towels and a hot shower. The staff are very helpful and friendly. There are nice places to sit outside. Breakfast was great - perfect porridge and a wonderful selection of hot and cold items. I enjoyed a walk into Bury St Edmunds in the evening. It was my first time to the area. It's such a quaint, pretty place and The Abbey Hotel is perfectly situated for exploring. Highly recommend and I am already looking forward to returning this week whilst another course at the hospital.
I can't praise the owner and staff here enough. The rooms were well equipped, comfortable and immaculately clean. Quentin went above and beyond by helping me manhandle a 17ft trailer in to a parking space during torrential rain without being asked to, and he took the time to answer my questions about the building and its history. The breakfast was very good and again the staff were helpful and very approachable.
What an amazing find, quiet and just outside town. Room had more than enough space for two everything you need is there, room was clean and the bed was super comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. Staff couldn't do enough for us. Will definitely stay here again
This hotel is a treasure not only quaint olde world style with beams etc but inside the rooms modern and all the mod coms little touches like mugs teacups teapot make it even better staff are great friendly the owner is such a lovely guy so accommodating and so many engaging. Breakfast was fabulous lovely lounge also to sit in and read a newspaper or book or chat with friends. Lovely little garden.

An excellent venue for both rock and classical artistes. Great acoustics, good viewing and aircon and about 2 minutes walk from the nearest car park...perfect!!
Brilliant night seeing Skeryvore. I had a dizzy spell and the staff were so kind and attentive. I think I had a reaction to the flashing lights. Venue is beautiful. Would definitely recommend it.
Love it here. Went to see The Real Thing here and it was brilliant. Good seats, 3rd row from the stage! Ordered drinks for the interval and they were on a little table at the end of the bar with our names on all ready. Lovely venue.
Went to The Apex in Bury St Edmunds and was really impressed. The layout is great — comfortable seating and clear views from every spot. The sound quality was excellent too, crisp and balanced without being too loud. It’s a really well-designed venue and a lovely place to enjoy live music or a show.
A great music venue. Fantastic sound. Very easy to get to with parking very close by.
Great smallish modern theatre with good facilities and excellent acoustics. Recently went for the first time (it's a fair distance from where I live) but we'll worth the effort. Good access and parking nearby also a bonus.
A very comfortable venue with what I consider to be the nicest seats in East Anglia. The Apex is fantastic because the setup allows the venue to attract artists wanting to host more intimate evenings with smaller audiences, thereby bringing high quality entertainment close to home. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly, and the membership scheme is brilliant for those who want (or in some cases need), to access certain seating, allowing them to do so ahead of general sales windows. Ticket collection from the box office is very easy, as is making bookings via the telephone, with the staff happy to assist me in selecting appropriate seats, (I'm totally blind). The programme of events is varied, and there truly is something for everyone in this modern, feel-good space.
Nice venue for entertainment and theatre evening. Certainly helped by being surrounded by restaurants and coffee shops, so you can grab a quick bite to eat before the show. Car parking is closed to the venue, but charges are through a parking app, so be aware. There is free parking on Tuesday afternoon and evening I seem to remember.

First time visiting today after years of meaning to visit. What can I say!? Wow! Absolutely my new favourite place to walk. Even the kids loved it. We saw so much wildlife in a short space of time. Was brilliant! The locally made ice lollies at the cafe were fantastic as was the coffee. It was such a lovely place to go. It was well maintained and very clean. All run on donations too! Please please donate when you visit!! We will be visiting again in the not so distant future. Can't wait!
Lackford Lakes is a great affordable day out for birdwatchers and families alike. It's free to enter and park although there is a suggested donation of £3 (contactless or cash). You can rent binoculars from £4 which is great for those who aren't regulars. The on-site cafe offers a limited but nice selection of food and drinks and there is also a little gift shop. There are a few different walking routes, one of which is dog friendly, and lots of hides to view the lakes from.
Fabulous place, very beautiful. Great to support our wildlife. If you like walking in nature please visit! We attended the Twilight Walk 15/8/25, to start with you view moths that have been caught humanly and then set free whilst you are there. Very beautiful. Lovely little shop and cafe too. We went earlier in the year too and saw baby Oyster Catchers. Brilliant.
Friends recommended visiting Lackford Lakes. Spent a very pleasant and relaxing afternoon, walking around the various trails, and observing wildlife from the numerous hides. I saw lots of birds, including Cormorants, Great Egret, Terns, Moorhens, Coots. Long Tailed Tits, Robins etc, plus Muntjac Deer, Rabbits and Dragonflies. The site has a visitor centre / shop, toilets, picnic areas and seating along all the trails. Well worth a visit.
This pkace always surprised us with the wildlife and scenery. The,Café is the perfect place to enjoy the scnery if you are not keen on walking or if the weather is no so kind like yesterday. We love their cakes and coffee. Staff is always friendly.
Lovely day out walking the trails and exploring the various bird hides. Cafe is reasonably priced and quaint. Will definitely becoming back again, it really was enjoyable when the blue skies and sun was out.
One of the most beautiful collections of lakes I've visited! Spent a good couple of hours walking and bird spotting/ watching. There are plenty of hides to sit down, relax, and watch. Everyone is very respectful as well! Was lovely to hear the Cuckoo as well. Highly recommend installing the Merlin ID app and walking around identifying the many birds around. Will definetly come back often!
Great palace to visit. Great little cafe. very nice sausage roll and lemon meringue cake. Reasonable price and great view of the wildlife.Paths very well maintained and hides all accessible.

It was the 4th week of the six weeks holiday this August 2025 and I thought I could drop my two off and go shopping but you can not leave 12 year olds unattended. I said they can call if there is a problem. They said no I then had to pay for myself and daughter to go in and sit there as you can not see what they are doing in there. I thought it was unfair to pay to go in and sit there. We had their cheesy chips which where nice and the kids did enjoy it because my 15 year old daughter was too old to go in the soft play but because she was technically keeping an eye on the other 2 she was allowed to go in ! Which she did enjoy ! So it was worth going and it was not busy at all it was almost empty with a few people sitting on the edges. Kids enjoyed it :)
Beware! This place will milk you for every penny they can. £19 for skate and play for two hours and £12 for soft play is more than other large soft play centres charge. My partner and I took our two kids, one skating and playing and the other just on the soft play. We also paid for my partner to go skating to help one of the little ones. When we check in I’m then told I need to pay close to £5 to get in. What does that get you? Nothing. Wouldn’t be so bad if it included a coffee or something but it just gets you through the gate. Really that should be factored in to their pricing. It left a bitter taste in my mouth. They also don’t let you bring a water bottle in so they can sell you their overpriced drinks. Give it time and they’ll charge you to park too I’m sure. Avoid.
Kids had a great time, food basic but ok. Great way for the children to let off steam in a safe environment. Clean as you would expect with high numbers of children passing through. Been a few times and would go back. The only drawback is having to pay as an adult to sit in there to watch your child play. Shame they do that when most adults will buy a coffee etc, that's why 4 stars and not 5!.
Very impressed, its huge with plenty to do ! There's 3 different sections on the soft play: under 2's 2years - 5years 5years plus Plenty to keep all the kids busy, ball canons, huge slides, little tiny slides, nets, ramps, steps, tunnels. There's plenty of tables to sit on and order food (table service). I thought the food and drink selection was decent and not awfully priced ! I'll definitely be going again as I felt it was a fair price for a 3 hour session and it'll felt it was very clean and well run, the staff where friendly and very helpful with a pleasant smile :-). We arrived at 10am and it wasn't busy at all, it got busier as we was leaving 12pm -1pm There's also an area for roller staking which looked rather good with music and lighting effects, u can take your own skates or hire then.
I grit my teeth everytime I come here. And its only about once a year. If there was another play area local, I would go there. But we meet here for convenience to meet friends that live locally. The play frame is massive! Which is why my 8 year old loves it. But one of the slides is always closed when we come. I assume its because it needs a member of staff to supervise. The place is fairly clean. 💰 🤑 From a parents perspective, its frustrating! £12.50 per child 🫣 (2 hour session) £4.95 as a spectator to supervise my children. 😩 🚗 Very little parking! 💧 A sign as you walk in that states childrens water bottles are not allowed! This is a disgrace! I have never known anywhere that doesn't allow children to take a water bottle to keep themselves hydrated. Other people have mentioned the price of food, we wont be buying food today. But other times when we have, it has taken a long time to receive and been expensive.
Having to pay for an adult is crazy when even the child ticket is more expensive than any other soft play in Suffolk. Overpriced but my boy enjoyed himself. Two cokes cost £6 too lol.
Update 2025 NOT enough car parking spaces. No health food what so ever. The area was clean and cool, however they have a drop slide as shown in photos BUT don't have enough staff or the desire/effort to man this, as a member of staff needs to be present 100% of the time. For the weekends this is disappointing. This should be made clear on the website that it's not open expect for 15 minutes even on weekends, by specific request.
Big play place. Weird that you have to pay just to go in and watch your kids play. Should be free for parents. Easier entry for pre booked slots would be nice so that you dont have to wait in line. Was fun though.

Went in to this branch today as I needed help transferring data from my old phone to new. I was assisted by Charlie who could not have been more helpful and friendly. Charlie spent probably an hour sorting my phone and was so patient and informative. Charlie is an absolute asset to this company. What I thought would be a confusing and laborious task was made so easy. Fantastic service.
I visited store today as I couldn’t use the internet with mobile data. Mac problem solved this very quickly. He was patient, calm & kind. Another member of the team helped too, nothing was too much trouble. They are very knowledgeable. What a fantastic team but special thanks to Mac!
I visited this shop today following a dreadful experience in the Ipswic shop yesterday. I am pleased to say as I arrived in the shop I was instantly greeted by Miguel, I explained I needed a new sim as my sim had failed. He imediatly got to it and following running through security checks quickly produced the sim, fitted it, tested it and I was on my very happy in probably less than 5 minutes. A fast professional service and a credit to 02. Thank you.
Today I visited the O2 shop in Bury St Edmunds. The two members of staff on duty provided outstanding service, they were both so helpful, listening to my issue and understanding immediately how to resolve my issue with a new Sim only contract. My experience of O2 has been restored entirely by the Bury shop, having previously tried the on line support service and the Ipswich store, both of which were awful.
Everything was fine at the store but clearly we weren’t properly informed. Our 25gb of roaming and phone calls didn’t work when we got to France. The data is intermittent and calls and sms didn’t work. The call centre has been useless , had to use Australian phone to call as our calls don’t work. Over two days and no resolution. Previously we had a 3 sim and absolutely no problems. We were told we should have called them before leaving the UK, nobody at the shop mentioned that. Thoroughly frustrated, disappointed and angry
Fantastic experience upgrading to the Samsung Z Fold 5. Miguel was so helpful and knowledgeable, with other friendly faces around the store. I wasn’t pressured into anything, and was given time to consider my options. I would definitely go back for any future upgrades or issues. Top class service with a smile 😀👍🏻
Not very happy with the overall as this is the second they are opdatering the wrong product that what I were asking for. The staff there is super friendly and I realise we all make mistakes but it is frustrating when you spend time driving there and then after have to spend time to get is sorted. It's impossible to call anyone at O2.
Always find the staff helpful & friendly in O2 in Bury St Edmund's and we've been customers for 15 years. We had an issue recently and Charlee went above & beyond to get it sorted for us, absolutely awesome Customer Service. Highly recommend 🌟

Lovely forest Park, plenty of parking spaces we paid £3.00 as we was here over 2 hours has toilets here a cafe can get hot and cold food and ice cream too 🍦 lots of different routes to walk on or take your bike 🚲 we went in the maze that was fun trying to find the way out. Seen some beautiful wooden sculptures we had a picnic by the pond with all the lily pads really a nice well kept place. We passed many people with dogs is a dog friendly place. Also places to play football with small goals already built up Really enjoyed out time here was walking for hours 😂 We will be back again soon definitely
A great well maintained park, ideal for short or longer walks. Has great facilities with a lovely cafe and well maintained public toilets. Everything was well presented and obviously well maintained. Regular forestry work was evident. There were some lovely walks through the trees and given we visited at the beginning of springtime, the birds were well and truly singing their hearts out as sunset approached. As someone recovering from a recent heart procedure and still building up my strength, it is a relatively flat walk with next to no elevation changes.
Nowton Park is a beautiful and peaceful spot perfect for families, nature lovers, and anyone looking to unwind. The park offers expansive green spaces, well-maintained walking trails, and stunning landscaped gardens. The highlight for us was the lovely maze, which was both fun and challenging. The park’s woodlands are ideal for leisurely strolls, and the open fields are great for picnics or games. There’s also a fantastic play area that keeps kids entertained. The café on-site is a nice touch, serving refreshments and light snacks, perfect after a relaxing walk. Whether you're visiting for exercise, a family outing, or just some quiet time in nature, Nowton Park is a must-visit in Bury St Edmunds. Highly recommended for a peaceful escape from the busy town life.
Well maintained park, good lengthy walks, plentiful benches, facilities are good, cafe is decent, there's a hedge maze which is fun (get to the tree in the middle), a walled garden (isn't open on Sundays though), and there's a fairly large playground if you have children
Nice park area, almost 200 acres with different length trails marked out. Play area and sports pitches available. Decent paid car parking.
Love how quiet this park is and all the different routes. If you have dogs that love animals, be careful they are everywhere! Squirrels, bids and monk jacks.
Nowton Park is a lovely spot just outside Bury St Edmunds—perfect for a casual day out. It’s free to enter and has loads of open space for walking, picnics, or kicking a ball around. There’s a football playground and a huge grassy field where people play cricket, fly kites, or just relax. Parking is available but mostly paid. There’s a cosy little café for snacks and coffee, plus clean, free public toilets. Great for families, dog walkers, or anyone wanting some fresh air.
Really nice park, big, lots of space, 2 full sized football pitches and a 5 a side court found not too far from the entrance. Playground next to the cafe is a little dated but kids enjoy it. Cafe is nice too, good variety of lunch bits, with ice creams also

We went to the sci fi event. It was very accessible, I used a mobility scooter. The exhibits were very interesting with lots of information to accompany them. Fun for adults and children alike. We were also able to wander through the other areas of the museum and that included a clock exhibit, crime and punishment, (much of it local to Bury st Edmunds), a film clothing and props exhibit and much more. Tickets were £6.00 per person. Well worth the money. Would recommend.
We visited today for the first time, it was me, my partner and our 2 little girls aged 3 and 18 months. We were the first ones in as my daughter was so excited to visit to see the dinosaur exhibition we made sure we got there ready for opening. The 2 ladies who were there were fantastic and are a credit to the museum. We had such a good time and the displays are so informative, my favourite was the crime and punishment room. How fascinating! It's a perfect size museum especially when you have little ones as doesn't take hours to look about so fits well with small children. I hold a masters degree in history and have been an assistant curator and held various other voluntary postistions at museums and I must say, if I lived closer, this museum would be somewhere I'd love to volunteer at! Fantastic and thank you again to the 2 lovely women who made our daughters visit so much better. The gift shop was well stocked and loads of lovely things for small children, we purchased several items. Highly recommend and will definitely come back.
I loved visiting this local museum, it's massively improved from a few years ago and the current exhibition on dinosaurs is excellent and for a local museum, it's outstanding! Great place to bring children or just to wander round. The gift shop area is also very good. Easy access for pushchair and wheelchairs to all floors, also does have a loo. Recommended.
Fantastic little museum in the heart of Bury St Edmunds. Went here specifically to see the info on the red barn murder at Polstead. So much info about the murder plus a book covered in the murderers skin and his scalp including ear. A little gross but also extremely interesting. The museum also had displays and facts on dinosaurs which kids would find fascinating. Its cheap to get in so perfect for a family day out. The staff are very helpful and informative. Would definitely recommend a visit.
Definetly worth the money considering how much content there is, especially with the current dinosaur exhibition. Really enjoyed finding the little dinos!
Great exhibition of sci fi and fantasy film memorabilia. I loved seeing the Lord of the rings items especially.
Although I knew it was a small museum, it felt a little bit underwhelming for me, with probably too much focus on dinosaurs and not enough on the more recent (and fascinating) history of the place. Probably more interesting for families with children than for adults only.
Great little museum, friendly staff. Went to see the film and sci fi exhibition and enjoyed the other more static exhibits too.

I run a small mobile events bar for weddings and parties, so I need a lot of beer, wine and spirits. Tom and the team at Bury have always really helped me out, ensuring I get fast delivery, access to all the right stock and advice on the best products to stock. Always had good service from start to finish!
We had an exceptional visit to the Adnam's shop today. We were greeted warmly by the staff there and Tom in particular took us through various products. He was knowledgeable and professional. We were able to select a wide range of drinks and food to purchase. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend a visit to anyone near Bury at Edmunds.
Went into the store today for a present for my dad. The lady was super helpful and helped me grab what i needed and knew the products very well. Great customer service and great items available, will definitely be returning. Thank you!
Great visit to Adnams today. Tom was really helpful and courteous and I got everything on my shopping list. The tasting evening in September sounds brilliant.
My go to place for beer and wine. Can’t think of a bad beer that Adnams produce. Southwold bitter my favourite unless they bring back Spindrift - come on Adnams! Knowledgable and qualified staff are always happy to provide help and tasting advice. Talking of tasting, the in-store tasting bar is a great idea. Never any pressure for tasting to become buying. Drinks on offer are changed regularly and often include specialty products from niche suppliers. Keep it up guys. 👍
Had a fabulous afternoon today at the gin making session. Thanyou to the leader of the session. Very informative, readily answering questions from the group. I learnt alot. Would thoroughly recommend as a gift..
I had a problem with my mini keg of beer which I purchased for my family this Christmas. I e-mailed Adnams in Bury St Edmunds this morning (Christmas Eve) expecting a response post Christmas. The team was absolutely brilliant and I had a replacement delivered to my door (an hour away) 4 hours later! EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE - many thanks team Adnams. Hope you all have a great Christmas!
The staff are so helpful and very knowledgeable. They have something for every occasion and their recommendations are always spot on. The tastings are really good value and a lot of fun - never disappoints!
