Amazing experience. Recommended to those who want to make the hike to arrive early in the morning (summer days) to avoid the heat... Great views... The level of difficulty depends on your goal... I've reached the cave, and for sure, it's *not* a family hike...
Amazing place truly. Unbelievable mountain views. One of the best hikes. I wanted to do the cave view, but storms were rolling in so returned, but I've heard that the cave view is also amazing although a steep hike to reach the caves.
Beautiful scenery and insane views! One of the greatest hikes in the Dolomites. Some tips; book a parking slot the day before! We took the bus from the main parking (10 euro pr person both ways) and parking for a van was additional 20 euro for the full day. Parking for a van from the starting point is 60 euro, but needs to be booked in advance. The trails are easy and durable for most people, kids and olders. Depending on the route it’s very accessible. We took a round trip wich was around 4 hours but spent the full day there in the sun ☀️
I finally made it! Hiking here was absolutely incredible. I came in early October 2025, and the snow had already started, which made the trek quite challenging in some spots. But the view I saw was truly superb and stunningly beautiful.
My experience was good. The views were incredible — the road going up was steep, tricky for a Fiat hybrid. The top of the mountain looked at like the end of a stage of the Tour de France.
I’ve heard that the hike is incredible if you have the stamina to go all the way to the end. However, if you only plan to walk a kilometer or two and then turn back, it’s not worth it. Instead, I recommend taking the hike from the restaurant’s lower yard to trail 117. It’s stunning and only about a 30-minute walk to the destination, where you can take photos, and about 25 minutes back.
A great walk that is so easy you can enjoy it even with smaller children. There are huts with refreshments along the way, so you don't have to carry so much in your backpack 💪 The views are spectacular and the great thing is that the trek is a circuit around Tre Cime, so you don't go the same way 😉 I recommend booking parking in advance. This way you can take your car to the start of the hiking trail 🤞
Absolutely crowded, but absolutely beautiful. I did the 101/105 circuit, some sections are very steep, but nothing was technically challenging. No climbing, no ropes. Paths are wide enough so 2-4 people can walk next to each other. No issues with 2-sided traffic

Beautiful lake and breathtaking view! Along the sea are nice places to eat your own sandwich or food. It is sad, that in the Cafe were no Vegan or glutenfree food. There are boats to get for half or for one hour. It can be cold, I recomend a jacket. It worth to see it, unforgettable!
Comparing to all the other beautiful lakes and nature of the region this one is not as charming and is too close to the road. Although is not ugly I’s rather have gone to somewhere else.
This the place is beautiful and peaceful. Early morning the birds singing are fascinating. When the top of the mountain there is on the snows looks fantastic. Fresh air there is. Free lives animals like horses and donkeys with small ringer on his necks looks heart warming.
It is beautiful if there is no fog/cloudy. Worthwhile taking the chairlift next to the lake where you can see the mountain view.
A magnificent lake and a beautiful scenery, the largest natural lake in the Cadore region, lies at an altitude of 1,754 meters in Misurina, a village in the municipality of Auronzo di Cadore, which is not in the South Tyrol region but rather in the Veneto region ! The lake's shores are very popular, with about ten traditional hotels. This setting was the venue for the four speed skating events of the 1956 Cortina d'Ampezzo Olympic Games; they were, in fact, the last to be held on a natural site. It is also from here that the scenic road leading to the Auronzo refuge begins, the starting point of the Giro delle Tre Cime (Three Peaks Tour), where a toll must be paid. This excursion route allows visitors to admire these three iconic peaks up close ...
Nice view here, maybe just park 30 minutes by the mini supermarket with free 120 minutes parking. Not big parking. No good restaurants here for stay. Two pizza stores are closes between 3-7 pm.
Greatl place to visit with family .little bit crowded in peak season.had a park for kids 3 good spots for photos.if you can walk do have a round of lake.overall great place to visit with kids
Exactly as you picture. It's an easy walk around it. and there are some beautiful restaurants along the way to stop and enjoy your surroundings.

Well spend day, combination of natural beauty and horror of trench/winter/mountain warfare of WWI. Site can be reached by paid fair ( jeep ride). Very much recommend, excellent experience.
Monte Piana is an absolutely incredible trail that offers not only breathtaking 360° views of the surrounding rocky peaks—including the iconic Tre Cime—but also a unique journey through history. The open-air WWI museum scattered across the plateau adds a powerful, reflective dimension to the hike, making it far more than just a scenic walk. I highly recommend following trail 122 if you’re not an adrenaline junkie—it’s well-marked, manageable, and lets you soak in the stunning landscapes without unnecessary risk. One more tip: take the jeep shuttle up! The road is narrow and shared with shuttle traffic, and hiking the 500-meter ascent offers very little in terms of views or payoff. Save your energy for the top—it’s 100% worth it. A perfect blend of nature, history, and awe-inspiring panoramas!
I like this place although it is not really about the great moments from the history. The peak could be reached by different ways: there is a jeep shuttle available but the hikers could find a bit more interesting trails from Misurina lake side as well.
We had an amazing hiking day, starting from Piste Misurina all the way up to Monte Piana in the snow and with no clouds. The sky was blue as it could be. Very rare to see the sky as blue as we are seeing it already all 5 days long. The path and the views to the neighbouring Mt. Tops are awersome. Once coming close to the Rifugio Angelo Bosi we had this fantastic view of Tre Cime from a different angle and from closer by. The all hiking path was so peaceful, even with no wind. This was our second winter hike in this area and the memory of this wonderful experience will stay in our hearts for ever.
Very nice mountains. Super views from up top.
My family loved it, (In VR)

Auronzo di Cadore is a famous holiday resort in the Belluno Dolomites. In the northernmost part of the Veneto region near Cortina, Comelico and the upper Pusteria valley, it extends along the left bank of Lake Santa Caterina at around 900 metres above sea level. Surrounded by forests and some of the most beautiful mountain massifs in the Dolomites with the Tre Cime di Lavaredo in the background, Auronzo is the ideal location for a relaxing and sporty holiday. with nice see view. (pleace leave a like if you love it, thanks :- )
Beautiful lake created by the dam. We took a walk from the dam to the town. It was a scenic walk and the kids enjoyed it.
Pretty average looking lake. Nothing special or breath taking. We didn’t stay long. Didn’t even take any photos
Worth to stop here. Easy parking.
The path around lake is very nice. Also nice small town. Tottaly worth the visit.

Beautiful place! In April the lake is still a little bit frozen and the road to the tri cimes blocked for cars but it's a great place to walk there on footb its something like two hours
Beautiful relaxing place, facing the Three Peaks, on the way to Rifugio Auronzo, with wooden banchet and tableta on the shore, hungry ducks waiting for some food from visitors. It's nice to take a walk around the lake.
This place has been on my bucket list for photos and wow, we arrived in the rain and waited in the car park, the clouds broke and the sun started setting on the Tre Chime, got lots of phone photos then got out my camera and nailed some amazing photos.
Beautiful spot enjoying the views and have a picnic
A lovely lake to walk around in under an hour. You can park your car for free in the muddy parking lot just before the lake on the left before you walk up to the Drei Zinnen refuge. At the far end of the lake, a very pleasant trail begins: 540m elevation gain, and allow 2 hours to hike up to the Auronzo refuge for free...
Really beautiful lake with some stunning views of the mountains. There are multiple hike points from here . We went on a public holiday and the restaurant was closed at the parking lot.
Quaint lake with a loop trail, very quiet and several views of the mountains.
So beautiful lake just near the Misurina one, but somehow less popular. If you nearby - 1/2 hour stop in the must. Great photo opportunities on sunset.

Ridiculously good, and the portions are pretty big as well! Right by the lake, it has an awesome combination of kind staff, fast service, great ingredients and right prices. I loved it! They don't take reservations at lunch, so be prepared to either wait or not eat at all (we went there at noon and were lucky enough to get one of the last tables).
I would like to kow when it opens because the owner said in one comment on 1. of May. I walked there looking forward to tasting delicious food, but it is closed. I was there 1800 today.
Very friendly staff, lovely food- local specialities! Pleasant atmosphere near the lake.
Great food and beautiful setup with views over the lake. Offering typical dishes with local and seasonal ingredients we were just delighted and of course overate a bit. Prices are affordable and staff is very friendly
Not open at the moment? We were there but it was closed. No signs or anything. Don’t go there today (or in the next few days…?)
Excellent food with indoor and outdoor seating. Very friendly staff with quick service. Great views.
A beautiful restaurant set up in a hill overlooking the lake. Focusing on seasonal and fresh produce it provides delicious selection of pastas, and meat based dishes.
The food was not warm, like it was cooked befor ant reheated befor serving . Not tasty

(Translated by Google) The current church dates back to the second half of the 1700s when it completely replaced the previous 15th century building of which only the bell tower survived (raised, however, in 1737). What is striking is the absolutely simple and bare external appearance, typical, however, of many churches in Cadore and which contrasts with the late Baroque interior rich in marble, paintings, stucco and woodwork. Unfortunately I was able to see very little of this rich decorative apparatus due to important restoration works which involved practically the entire nave and presbytery. Maybe next time.

We stayed here for 4 nights and where very satisfied with everything. The father and daughter were very kind and helped us plan the next day with their knowledge of the area. The food was good and we just felt very welcomed. Would recommend
Review of the food/cafe only: for the sake only option on the mountain, just about adequate. Nice and pleasant staff, food ok. But as soon as it’s more than half full in the dining area, it’s slow service. So expect to be at least one hour for small snack around peak lunch time hours.
We stayed there for a night, but I would love to stay longer. The dinner was amazing, the owner was very nice and the rooms as well. You can't drink tap water here, but it's posdible to buy it. And they have a shower which is more than 20 l of water for several euros. Monte Piana is worth visiting!
Very nice people, delicious food and a very cozy rifugio on top of monte piana. They also have a small but very impressive museum inside about the ww1 battle of monte piana.
I loved this refuge. The father and daughter that run it have the most beautiful relationship and countenance of respect and calm and kindness and dignity between them. Food was good and plentiful, dinner and breakfast, they bent over backwards to accommodate out if the ordinary requests, the beds were comfortable, bathroom correct.
An exceptionally rude place. Do no visit here unless you are truly desperate.
Only two hours of food serving time 12-2:30
It's a decent place, which happens to be completely unable to cope with the success and accessibility of the route that leads to it. Three-stars off-season, avoid in-season. Food is alright but a tad subpar by local standards, and service is so slow that it will be a lot faster to go back down the mountain by any means (including the very convenient snowmobiles) and have lunch elsewhere. Wating for a table (45 minutes every time I went), service (30 minutes) and food (30 minutes) makes it an option only off-season and if coming before it opens. Be careful too, as the wait may actually cause the kitchen to close (2:30PM) before you get a table and be left with cold sandwiches at the bar. On other instances, most popular food options were out of order by 1:45PM too on busier days since they seem to have constant stock regardless of activity.

On the dome of the church stands a wrought iron rooster with three holes in its belly: those made to make it sing according to a local legend according to which, to establish the border between Auronzo and Dobbiaco, the place was chosen where two old women would meet, leaving on foot from their respective villages, at the rooster's crowing; the old woman from Auronzo, however, unseen by the supervisors of Dobbiaco, pricked the rooster with a knitting needle: the rooster crowed ahead of time and the woman from Auronzo made further progress than her opponent. The border was thus established further north than expected, at the Marogna bridge.

(Translated by Google) The fountain is in good structural condition. No water comes out of the tap but I assume it's a seasonal issue. It is probably open in warmer seasons. The bench on the side is pleasant. (Original) La fontana si presenta in buone condizioni a livello strutturale. Dal rubinetto non esce acqua ma presumo sia una questione stagionale. Probabilmente in stagioni più calde è aperta. Piacevole la panchina presente a lato.

(Translated by Google) Go up following path 222 from the bridge over the Rudavoi (descending from Passo Tre Croce in the direction of Misurina) to reach Forcella Popena. The path is poorly signposted, a small bridge over the stream has collapsed and not rebuilt, followed by some fords. Going up, be careful on very steep sections, towards the fork, some sections have collapsed and the climb is NOT for families. A few tens of meters from the fork, where there is a viewing platform, the risk-free path stops due to a further landslide, the interruption warning sign is there, almost at the arrival, not at the departure. The descent towards Misurina is easy and hassle-free. Spectacular panorama during the climb to nearby Sorapis and surrounding peaks.
