I was hoping to visit la Rondinaia in Ravello but, as this is not possible, visited Villa Cimbrone instead. Yes, the entry fee of 10euros per person was rather stiff and yes the lady at the ticket counter made being rude a matter of principal, her calling. We are but vulgar tourists to be tolerated if we are lucky. That being said, everybody else was thoroughly charming and wonderful. The gardens are stunningly beautiful and manicured beyond belief. It is a huge pleasure to wander through and the views are breath-taking. Just like the rest of the Amalfi coast, just more so. We came across the villa restaurant (not the Michelin star one) by chance and had the most wonderful meal of our stay in Italy! The food was amazing, the service impeccable and the view I have already written about. My wife and I can't wait to go back!

Going to the city Amalfi brings you close to Ravello. When you bring a car, make the trip to Ravello. Parking is a small disaster. Stroll thought the village centre which has a nice sqaure and walk in about 10 minutes to Villa Cimbrone. Youo nly need to visit the garden. There is a beautiful view over de Amalfi coast on a terrace called Terrazza dell'Infinito. In the garden is a small bar with the famous balcony. Enjoy.

Villa Cimbrone has a fascinating history that blends old-world charm with modern appeal. Its first records date back to the 11th century, during Ravello’s golden era, when it was owned by noble families such as the Acconciajoco and later the Fusco. However, over time, the villa fell into disrepair and became a ruin. In 1904, Ernest William Beckett, later known as Lord Grimthorpe, discovered the property. A wealthy and eccentric Englishman, he fell in love with Villa Cimbrone and decided to restore it. Collaborating with local builder Nicola Mansi, he rebuilt the villa in a mix of Moorish, Venetian, and Gothic styles, incorporating elements from across Italy. This restoration led to the beautiful, almost dreamlike villa we see today. During Beckett's ownership, Villa Cimbrone became a retreat for many notable writers, artists, and thinkers, including Virginia Woolf, E.M. Forster, Winston Churchill, and Greta Garbo. Today, the Vuilleumier family owns the villa. They have preserved its historic beauty and transformed it into a charming hotel, renowned for its stunning Terrace of Infinity and serene gardens. Although we did not stay at the hotel and cannot comment on its services, the gardens are open to visitors who wish to explore the beautiful scenery. We enjoyed a leisurely hour-long walk around the property, which also features a café for all visitors.

Simply an unparalleled, life-affirming experience! The Terrace of Infinity offers the best sea + nature view I have ever witnessed anywhere in the world. It is truly an experience that words fail to capture. The entire villa grounds and park are stunning and perfectly maintained, making the whole visit an absolute must-do! and as a bonus, its a starting point for the most scenic down-hikes to Atrani (lots of stairs though)

The villa has absolutely breathtaking views — you can see the entire Amalfi Coast from above! It’s surrounded by beautiful nature, lovely gardens, and charming little vegetable patches and flowers. Everything is just perfect and so picturesque!

we were just here to visit the garden. but I would definitely think about staying at the hotel too. the garden is absolutely worth the entrance fee of euro 10. there are many places to sit, enjoy, reflect and look around.

Absolutely unbelievable!! One of the most excellent places on the planet!! The story behind the establishment of this villa is unbearably romantic and that energy permeates the entire estate. There are places to eat at both ends of the gardens,which is great because we really did work up an appetite while strolling the gardens. We spent around 5 hours wandering through the gardens and many rooms, crypts and galleries. Really well worth the visit!!

One of the most beauiful places ive been to. Up above the Amalfi Coast with outstanding views this small town has it all. The gardens are spectacular and we were lucky enough to have room to move having visited off season in March. The skies cleared and the only word for it is Wow. In my opinion it leaves the coast for dead, a lot quieter and a lot to see and do. Cafes are great and our hotel Lolanda was amazing. I cant stress how important it is to take a little time and go off the beaten track up to this place. Visit all the gardens at the top and you wont be disappointed.

Must visit, but try earlier than in the evening, as the sun goes away from 4 pm in October. Sunsets are amazing though. And in October there are not so many flowers and colors like in summer pictures, but still nice. The house is unfortunately empty, and there’s not much to do.

It very beautiful up here. we visited this place in Sept 2023 during our Amalfi coast tour. It is a trek to get to but when you get here you will be greeted with spectacular views! I can get busy at peak times but it is beautiful. The gelato from the small cafe is absolutely worth the walk. Definitely recommended.

Extremly beautiful villa, gardens and view. The ticket was 8 euros, no line, we got to experience the place all by ourselves, maybe because it is off season (november 2025, monday). We got to see the garden with winter flowers, but still extremly beautiful.

Villa Rufolo was such a hidden gem here in Ravello. Really enjoyed the small room showing the videos and giving some history of the place which helped color a beautiful picture of music, history, and brilliant views. I highly recommend making a stop here if you are visiting Ravello. My best advice, take a scooter to the top of this hill instead of this bulky busses, you’ll be happy you did!

Villa Rufolo is a must - see hot spots destination for anyone visiting the Amalfi Coast. A real hidden gem on the Amalfi Coast and one of my favorite place to see it. This is nature’s artwork on display . A very impressive, stunning place with a unique color of the spirits, worth all the raves about it. Worth spending a day here soaking in the ambience, surrounded by incredible scenery, pure natural peaceful, beautiful masterpieces of gardens and magnificent spectacular breathtaking views from every corner. It’s a truly enchanting and experience visiting this beautiful place There is beauty around every bend. Serenity in every view!!! Simply breathtaking!!!

Nice for a quick trip from Amalfi via bus. The square has some good cafes. Lovely views and relaxing atmosphere.

The Duomo of Saint Mary is a decent cathedral, but it definitely fell short of my expectations. The cathedral area was pretty large and had some unique character. However, the walls were mostly white with little artwork. There was also a museum with old empty sarcophaguses, church artifacts, and sculptures dating back to the 13th century. It was a good experience, but it didn’t blow me away. If you’re in the area, I would recommend going to the nearby Amalfi Cathedral instead. It’s the same price (4 euros) and it blows this cathedral away in size and ornateness.

The duomo of Ravello is quite beautiful, yet the least interesting sight in the village. The most important part are the mosaic covered pulpits inside.

I really enjoyed this church. It is not overly decorated and is in fact quite austere. There are two beautiful pulpits covered with mosaics with Arabic influence. The bronze church door is also spectacular. The museum of the church has some beautiful objects.

Very cool views from a boat tour. The road is very busy and filled with traffic for 4 months of the year - it was still busy in late September. Ferries are probably the better option to see everything the coast has to offer.

Beautiful town. We went end Sept beginning of Oct and we found it busy - I'm not sure I'd like it at the height of the season! Narrow streets with lots of lovely restaurants and gift shops. Restaurants offer similar choices of food and drink and cost is relative to quality, the average for us was about 45€ each which was 1 main meal and a drink each. Be prepared for lots of hills and stairs! Taxis are expensive but buses and ferries are a cheaper way to travel. The buses are a hair-raising ride but the scenery and views are spectacular. Tickets for the bus are bought either on the bus, some hotels & shops or the terminal. Ferry tickets can be bought online or at the port usually about 10€ but you may be charged extra for luggage. The ferry and bus timetables are pretty spot on but beware of popular times - the bus won't stop if it's full and your next bus could be up to an hour wait. The buses can cost between 1.50€ to 2.50€ depending on time of day. All stops are request stops, other than the terminal. The weather can affect the running of the ferries so always best to have a back up plan. We did a tour bus to Pompei & Herculaneum which was about 2 hours travelling but that was also picking up other people on the way.

We were looking forward to see Amalfi coast. The view from the top was spectacular. The boat was a nice experience. The town was underwhelming. Not much things to see except for church and small gift shop (approx. 10 min) It's mainly beach and view, if you want seeing the market, go to Sorrento. Highly recommend.

We visited Positano, Amalfi and Ravello. After a white-knuckle drive along a cliff-hugging road, we were rewarded with the most spectacular scenery. Words cannot convey the absolute beauty of the Amafi Coast. So here are some pictures. Better to see it in real life!

Arrive by sea and you can see how beautiful the coastline is. But to say its busy is an understatement. The mainstreet is wall to wall people. Narrow at times, it still has a need for cars bikes and electric carts to go up and down it. Once you manage to get further up the widens and you see the real Amalfi. Move away from this street and things become better. Still busy, but not uncontrollably. Views are fantastically pretty. Recommend turning right first off the boat and walking up the hill. Longish walk but very worth it. Do the main Street once you have taken in this view. You'll accept the masses after that. Only views from the sea included, as that would spoil it

The most beautiful drive I've ever taken with breathtaking views around every turn! The roads are narrow with tons of cars truck, motorcycles and pedestrians so if you're not an aggressive driver, this is not for you! Parking is almost impossible but if you can score a parking spot, walking around Amalfi is a delight!

The area is quite busy and the terrain is a little hard to walk as its up a hill but it's a beautiful area. There are lots of shopping spots, lots of places to get souvenirs. My husband is still talking about how amazing the gelato was and I ate a lemon sorbet in a giant lemon and it was excellent. Highly recommend this place to see once in your lifetime

I am leaving a five-star review because that is the experience we had! In fairness, we were only there for lunch. But the food was exceptional. The atmosphere is heavenly. And the service left nothing wanting. The risotto in a lemon sauce was a particular standout! Wish we had gone back for dinner! So little time; so little time!

My wife and I came here on night two of our honeymoon and were eagerly awaiting our experience. We have thankfully been able to indulge on multiple occasions at other Michelin star restaurants back in the US, and highlighted this as a moment to look forward to. The view, atmosphere, and staff’s attentiveness and hospitality were top notch, but unfortunately the food fell short. Turning a blind eye to cost, we ventured into the 7-course tasting menu. 3/7 of the courses were simply not good, with dishes that palled in comparison to counterparts on our trip that shined at “lower quality” restaurants prior. I would not recommend spending the time/experience here, as the Michelin rating seemed undeserved, and made us question the accolade. Italy has so much quality food to offer. Explore outside of this option.

It was a very enjoyable experience, I don’t understand why everyone is whining in the comments but I would like to come here again for sure. Salvatore was very nice person and he always kept us in track in the dinner. Also the lady on the front desk was kind enough to help us out with the transportation problems that we were having. For starters, the service is very good, as to be expected from fine dining. The wait staff is on top of everything for the most part and really does take the time to explain each dish. The atmosphere is outstanding. My only complaint is that they do seat everyone on top of you. Considering the restaurant was pretty much empty, it would have been nice to spread out more. There is a phenomenal wine list as well. Plenty of options from each region to choose from. Finally, the biggest disappointment was the food. We went for the full tasting menu which included 7 courses. The started was very good. It was a local Amberjack , done carpaccio style. Great flavor and very complex. Courses 2-4 were either too salty or lacked any distinct flavor profile. The sphagettone was very salty and took away from the herbs and flavors that should have been showcased. The main two dishes (5-6) were pretty good however the lamb was slightly tough. Again there was slightly too much salt. The dessert was a highlight including the basil sorbetto. Overall the experience is pretty amazing. I would recommend to anyone that appreciates fine dining to try it out. When it comes to taste and flavor, you maybe be better at a local trattoria or osteria.

This is our third time here , first time since after Covid. The first times we came here there was a live band playing and the atmosphere was extremely busy and everything seemed to jive perfectly and even had a washroom attendant. Seemed like everything was on point, we always had a meal infront of us and there was always new butter/oils with different bread between meals even complimentary wine pours. This time around while the food was extremely good and as good as the first times we were here, seemed much more limited, there was only bread served to us at the start, which is perfectly okay but often left waiting for food or engagement. We were there at 8pm on a Sunday and it was pretty quiet with only a DJ which was a new and different perspective , a lot less staff and no bathroom attendant. The staff didn’t seem to work as well together as they used to, we often saw them rush each other or it was extremely evident when something wasn’t right, we shouldn’t be hearing the gossip or having to feel the stress from behind the scenes. Perhaps we came on an off day but since we have come here after the Michelin star, things seem abit different quality wise in the experience, they did forget our last dessert but my wife was full therefore couldn’t eat another meal so we didn’t bother. They also were cleaning up the side tables and everything while we were finishing up which made us feel more rushed to get out the door but the food was good once again don’t get me wrong and the staff was nice. Not to put anything down but simply an observation, will have to come by again to truly see

We were encouraged to try this place while we were in the Amalfi coast. As it was my birthday I figured we should splurge and give it a go. First the good. The grounds at Villa Cimbrone are stunning. We greatly enjoyed the walk around the area and having a cocktail at the far end near the overlook to the sea. Beautiful as we watched the sun begin to set. Then we made our way to the restaurant. We were early for our reservation so they sat us in the garden bar area. Again beautiful and had a round of wonderful drinks. It was a full seating so we were placed inside but with a view to the outside. The setting was beautiful and the servers were top notch. As others have said, it’s a semi prix fixe menu, with recommended wine pairings. My wife and daughters are fish/vegetarians so they went with the “sea” oriented options. I had a more traditional land-focused option with pasta and meats. Upon the first course arriving, and initial tastes, we knew we could be in for a long night. The seafood appetizers were devoid of any seasoning or flavor, and frankly the shrimp app and the pea-squid app were both borderline inedible. They tasted terribly fishy and unsafe to eat. The server noticed and smartly offered to provide an alternative for the pea dish. The replacement was actually extremely good but our guards were up already. For entrees, the sea bass also had a terrible fishy flavor unbecoming a “fresh” fish dish. Our daughters got the risotto dish and these were ok. My pasta and meat dishes were fine but certainly not exceptional in any way. We expected small portions and delicate flavors for a kings ransom price. We did not expect to have such poorly flavored and virtually inedible dishes. Michelin-starred? Maybe at one point but not for our evening. If you have the money and want an experience feel free to give it a go. But I’d sooner spend my money on any of the many good restaurants all along the coast for far less.

We had a lovely conversation with this man and the next thing I knew, I had a bag of large lemons to take with me! He was such a joy to talk to that I asked to take his photo and he requested my husband take the photo of both of us. Purchased a few things from this shop last week. The employee asked what day I was arriving home. Items were shipped DHL the day I arrived home. They were at my doorstep 2 days later. Extremely well packed (bubble wrap, foam separation between items, and then the entire box injected with foam). Minimum shipping cost was 80 euros, so maybe only worth it if you buy several items. Lots of beautiful things here.

My son and daughter in law purchased a set of dinnerware from Ceramiche D'Arte Carmela while they were visiting Itally a few years back. They LOVE the ceramics. Over the years we have ordered more for their set and had it shipped to us in America. This year I had a large order, but said to Roberta Cioffi (I believe she is an owner, but I am not sure) that depending on the cost of shipping would determine weather I would order ALL or part of the wish list. She imediatley said she would pay for shipping. Great! Then order it all I said!!! I recieved the first box (some items had to still be made) all was good. But then the second box didnt come and didnt come. It ends up it was being held for "import fees" of $52. This should have been part of shipping costs, it was always in past orders including the first box of this very order. VERY disappointed and sad that Roberta didn't honor her word to pay for shipping.

I had purchased $478.63 worth of ceramics Sept. 22, 2025, and was told all my items would be shipped by first week of Nov. I did questioned the owners daughter(?) about the late shipping, she stated they were “busy”. I HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY Purchase from this store, and, after reading reviews, many had the same issues. I will be contacting my credit card .

Have been waiting 6 weeks for my order. No response to my emails. Have called twice and been told someone would get back with me. Haven’t got any response, so sorry I trusted this place. I’m really disappointed in the customer service. Hoping someday my order shows up.

UPDATED: The package was finally shipped and arrived in good condition after 4 weeks of no customer service to understand the status (including no emails and the phone being hung up on me and further ignored my number when I tried again a few days later). They shipped to the wrong address once they finally did send it (thankfully the address they DID ship to was a closed business and I was able to contact FedEx to get it amended). This was an unnecessarily stressful experience. Again, as I said below, the shop person was wonderful. Answering questions patiently and helping me select my pieces (which I love). Was such a lovely guy assisting me when i purchased, and now that I'm back home, it's silence. It's been 3 weeks now (and the pieces I bought were in the shop and the ones that were to be shipped). When I've tried to call, I'm told I'll get a call back. They have not. I have called and been hung up on. At this point, it looks like this shop has defrauded me out of nearly 2000 euros. I have tried email as well. Nothing. Not sure what else to do here. They've completely taken my money and run.

Really nice place. Do not trust the reviews claiming the stairs are daunting and long, they are just lazy and not used to climbing 50 stairs at once without AC. Stairs take about two minutes and take you to the beach, which has a shower, public and private area. The staff were accommodating and food options were tasty and varied. Mostly locals.

The beach is more secluded, nestled among the rocks, descending toward Amalfi. Sunbeds cost €70, including an umbrella. The sun goes behind the cliffs around 4:00 PM in the free areas; near the rocks, it might last a little longer. By 4:00 PM, people are already leaving and the umbrellas start being taken down. The water is beautiful—you’ll need water shoes—but unfortunately, trash tends to accumulate in the area. Additionally, it’s enclosed to allow a passageway for boats that dock or pass nearby. Still, the location is much better than anything in Amalfi. If you don’t mind paying this amount for sun only until 4:00 PM, I would recommend it.

Update: OBVIOUSLY this picture was taken AFTER we tried to eat the food. The coca-cola was served with ice and was cold so there was nothing wrong with the DRINK it self. But the food we could sadly not eat efter spending 40 euros on this place. I never leave reviews but this time I had too. There fore I am saying you should bring your own food and drinks. The location of the restaurant and beach however is very nice.

Lots of steps but worth it! 70 euro for two loungers & umbrella for the day. Pebble beach but very clean and views are beautiful. Service was great and food/drink were good quality and affordable.

Loved the service at Lido di Ravello Beach club! The servers are so kind and always happy to help you. We felt welcomed and relaxed and the food was amazing! I had the best sea food salad in all of the Amalfi coast here plus the beach was pristine clean and it was not crowded. The steps to go down there are totally worth it!

This is a cool spot, just note there is a FREE PUBLIC BEACH right next door, if you don’t want to spend money. It’s the same access point from the road. It’s not listed on Google Maps. You can bring your own umbrellas, towels, etc. but if you want full service with snacks and drinks, the beach club is the way to go. Either way, be prepared to go down multiple flights of stairs — and back up those stairs when you leave. It’s a free workout. 🦵

I was expecting to find the garden gate open, as I had read that it's always open with free entrance. Unfortunately, it was closed when I arrived, but I could still enjoy a beautiful view from outside. Giorgio has numerous antiquities some thousands of years old. In addition the cameos and other jewelry he has is beautiful. It is worth the time to look at his collection. Numerous celebrities have purchased is one of a kind creations. He has been a friend gor over 30 years.

Absolutely stunning place. I bought the most beautiful coral and silver earrings and the ladies were so helpful. A must visit!

A must in Ravello. Tucked away to the left of the Duomo in the main piazza. Giorgio is a master artisan of his craft and a wonderfully warm storyteller of the beautiful objet d’art in his small but stunning museum. He will explain to you the dying art of cameo and coral carving, (due to environmental changes resulting in extreme scarcity) which is made by carving one large, thick shell from outside in to achieve the color variations. Ask to see oxblood coral, which is very rare. Ask about the intricately carved Louis XIV snuff box with scenes from The Judgment of Paris, one of two in existence. Paul Getty Museum offered $600,000 to acquire it and was refused. The other resides in the Louvre museum.

Beautiful and amazing work. He took a liking to us and showed us his private collection in the back if the store. Priceless!!

This church isn’t so ornate or beautiful like other church’s in the area. However it is special for a completely different reason. It’s quiet, secluded, and most of all it is perfect for singing. The acoustics in this church are just beautiful. Truly a peaceful place to be and great spot to just take a moment after galavanting the Amalfi Coast. Worth the visit if your into churches but definitely if you’re into singing it is a must.

But the food we could sadly not eat efter spending 40 euros on this place. I never leave reviews but this time I had too. There fore I am saying you should bring your own food and drinks. The location of the restaurant and beach however is very nice.

Lots of steps but worth it! 70 euro for two loungers & umbrella for the day. Pebble beach but very clean and views are beautiful. Service was great and food/drink were good quality and affordable.

Loved the service at Lido di Ravello Beach club! The servers are so kind and always happy to help you. We felt welcomed and relaxed and the food was amazing! I had the best sea food salad in all of the Amalfi coast here plus the beach was pristine clean and it was not crowded. The steps to go down there are totally worth it!

This is a cool spot, just note there is a FREE PUBLIC BEACH right next door, if you don’t want to spend money. It’s the same access point from the road. It’s not listed on Google Maps. You can bring your own umbrellas, towels, etc. but if you want full service with snacks and drinks, the beach club is the way to go. This boutique hotel, originally the Italian Villa belonging to Gore Vidal, is sumptuous, private and a complete indulgence. It came recommended by a longtime wilderness and architecture guide who my family has done multiple trips with. My wife and I were traveling in later season (October) and even then, Ravello and environs are abuzz and crowded. But as soon as you go through the gates and its private garden paths towards the Villa, you have a world to yourself. If you go, get ready for to be treated to the top notch chef talents of Enrico and the drinks and dessert program of Marcello. Some nights we were ready for the full tasting experience, but other nights we wanted something light and creative, and they came through with flying colors. As well, the entire staff is gracious and care greatly about making sure you happy, comfortable and content.

Absolutely Top-Notch. From the moment I sent an email inquiring about a stay until checkout, my experience with La Rondinaia and its staff was spot on. The villa is just beautiful beyond words, the location is unparalleled, the food was exquisite, and the service 5-star. I visited spontaneously for just two nights, but I will be happily returning for a longer visit next season. This was a highlight of my visit to Italy, and as a Gore Vidal fan, I was SO happy to see Gore’s studio where he wrote every morning. A real dream come true for this book worm.

Villa La Rondinaia is a dream - a beautiful, unique, luxurious dream. My husband and I were the photographers (and guests at La Rondinaia) for a wedding in July. I have included a few of the wedding photos and also lots of photos of the rooms, grounds, pool (and breathtaking views!) so you can see what a wedding at Villa La Rondinaia looks like. Our group took a private van transfer from Rome to Ravello, since we had just spent a few days in Rome. The ride is long and slow, but with spectacular views as you get closer to Ravello. Upon arrival at Rondinaia, we were greeted with beautiful welcome drinks from Marcello. The bride asked me to take photos of all the rooms (they did a buyout of the entire villa), so I just immersed myself in the beauty of this place. The renovations have been done so perfectly - you feel like you are back in Gore Vidal's time, but a much better version of it! Every detail has been attended to. We only had 2 nights here because we were with the wedding, but you should spend at least 4 nights - a week if you can swing it! The rooms are SO beautiful, the pool is absolute heaven, and I couldn't get enough of the views. The town, which is a quick walk from Rondinaia, has restaurants and shops and street artists - it's a delight. If you're thinking about having your wedding at La Rondinaia, you should absolutely do it. It is the perfect mix of beauty, luxury, history, service, and a little bit of rustic quirkiness that comes with any Italian adventure :)

My daughter had her wedding at La Rondinaia two weeks ago and nothing could have been improved upon. From the accommodations at the villa to the staff, including reception, mixologist (Marcelo) and the chef (Enrico), every box was checked on my daughter and her now-husband's punchlist for the wedding of a lifetime! We had a beautiful wedding with over 90 guests of our closest friends and family on August 26, 2023. The venue itself is gorgeous but you can not trust the ownership and some of the staff. I said ownership on purpose as most of the staff were very lovely including Judith. Our wedding planner negotiated an alcohol package with the venue and the venue agreed to check in with us for approval as we went over the limit to confirm if we wanted to continue serving more drinks. The venue did not follow this policy and overcharged us by a very large sum. We did not know of this charge until we were checking out early in the morning and were in a hurry to catch a flight in Naples. We knew something was off with the bill and they did not follow the agreed protocol but tried to do the right thing by paying the bill and then have our wedding planner follow up with the venue to get things corrected. The venue ignored our wedding planner for weeks. The planner was able to catch up with Judith from management a few weeks ago who admitted they did not follow the protocol of asking us permission to serve more. She said we would need to discuss a refund with the owner though. The owner then ignored our wedding planner again for weeks until finally giving us a response this week of refusing to offer any sort of refund or admitting they did not operate to the terms of our agreement. The greed of this owner after all that we paid for our wedding is really sad. I have not wrote a negative review in my entire life and I hope this is my last one. I encourage anyone considering a wedding in the Amalfi coast to pick another venue as this ownership group can't be trusted. The views are beautiful but life's too short to work with people you can't trust.
