Wonderful place. The Saimaa Canal with an interesting history. Beautiful coastal areas. You can see the gate from the water if you are lucky enough to pass through the gate. Total locks 8. Part on the side of Russia, part of Finland.
A nice way to visit Russia. Boat trip from Lappeenranta. An important transport route.
The Saimaa Canal connects lake Saimaa with the Gulf of Finland. It's used by both passenger and freight traffic on daily basis. Tourists visiting the area can take cruises from Lappeenranta harbour and experience the locks. Highly recommended!

Nice to walk around all the buildings on a sunny day! You can learn about the different places and their history. There are also great views to the waterfront and it's a short distance from all key locations in Lappeenranta. I would recommend coming by foot rather than car as you can get the most out of the visit by walking.
Very beautiful fortress built on a hill with a breathtaking view of the port of Lappeenrenta and the cruise ships that criss-cross the lake. Summer is the best time to enjoy the port and the small beaches nearby. In addition there are plenty of nice little restaurants on the edge of the lake.
Beautiful scenery and great historic place to visit
Lappeenranta fortress located on city centre. It has many museums and platforms with a nice views. I recommend to visit museum of South Karelia, which have really huge model of Vyborg with 1.5 thousands buildings.
A historic fortress is the Old Town of Lappeenranta. Nowadays it is a place for two museums, some restaurants and cafeterias and an Orthodox church.
Wonderful site with lots to see. By Saimaa lake. A must when in Lappeenranta.

Very nice and unique place. Not big but still interesting and impressive. Playground next to it. Lots of great places for coffee and food nearby.
We visited the sandcastle as a family and everybody liked it 👍 I recommend to combine the visit with the Fazer shop right next to the castle 😋
Beautiful Sandcastle in Lappeenranta with various figures but what stands out the most to me is the adorable saimaa ringed seal or saimaannorppa. The parking is close by and you can catch the scent of the pristine saimma lake.
Wonderful park for kids and adults during summer
Very nice and impressive attraction. It is very interesting to have a chat with the people in the office next to it and get more information as they have lots of info to give you. Can't give it a 5 star cause we visited it going off our main destination and expecting probably something more surrounding it. Other than that, surely worth a stop!
Got to see Mörkö. Very happy with the visit. Unfortunately we arrived on a bad weather and some of the sculptures were falling apart but the artist was "on duty" and was fixing things up. Very nice thing to visit during summer days in Lappenranta
It's a bit smaller than what we expected. But the sand sculpture are very vivid. No tickets required for the sand castle visiting but if you would like to play with other activities, like mini plane, Bouncers, you need to pay for the ticket from 8 to 17 euro separately. The sand castle is next to beach and very beautiful view of the lake.
My friend wanted to show me this exhibition so bad and I can see why now. Amazing display of skills and utter passion.

Great place for children.
A great place to spend a couple of hours with your kids. Located right next to the Holiday Club Saimaa.
After reading all the reviews, I was not sure if we should go or no. But we decided to give it a try and We had a great time!!! It’s a colorful, clean, and well-designed indoor playground ideal for kids aged 2–12. There are climbing zones, pedal cars, slides, scooters, soccer, hockey, shooting and even a BagJump air tower. Our kids were busy and happy for couple hours! It’s perfect for rainy days or letting kids burn off energy. Adults do need to pay entry even if just supervising, which feels a bit pricey—but it’s worth it for the experience.they have a discount for families of 4, which is 60 euros. Also for retired people, it’s for free .Definitely recommend it!
Great place for kids. Unfortunately, it is overpriced. It should be OK, 19 eur/person, if parents could get free ticket, like in other similar places in finland , e.g. hop lop, Leo's leikkimaa
It was a good experience with our 4 year old daughter. Not a very huge place to explore but worth visit. It was a little crowded as it was weekend. Weekdays might be less busier
a good place especially for young children. on the other hand there is not that much to do if you are 13+ like there are no trampolines and the block pit was very small to do something in it but aside from else it was very good
Good location with multiple activities in the vicinity . Ticket for parents should be free or discounted
Nice activity for kids... and parents also 😉If you like to see kids vlog about this park on youtube channel Play Like Mira or KaroMirki

(Translated by Google) For many years we drove past Lappeenranta and visited the city itself, but did not know that literally five minutes from the center there is the Evangelical Lutheran Church “Heavenly Light”. It seemed to me that it was in this evening light that the church looked most impressive. “The Finnish National Council of Antiquities has declared it one of the country’s most important cultural buildings. The church, which has a rather bold architecture, was built in 1969. The architects of the structure were Toivo Korhanen and Jaako Laapotil. The shape of the church is an equilateral triangle. It is believed that it symbolizes the Holy Trinity." Of course, at first glance it resembles the monument to the “Conquerors of Space” in Moscow at VDNKh. And I think this is not surprising. After all, it was built only five years later than the monument.

St. Mary's Church of Lappee is a peaceful oasis in the city. The kind and welcoming father adds warmth, and its calm, silent atmosphere makes it a perfect place for reflection and spiritual connection amidst urban life.

Beautiful old wooden "double cross" church.
(Translated by Google) A really beautiful church from the year, something from the 1500s I guess. Inside sat a girl who was really excited to talk about the history of the church. So I did, even in two days. And I'll send you a picture. The crystal chandelier hanging on the ceiling was also very old, but preserved. (Original) Tosi kaunis kirkko vuodelta, jotain 1500 luvulta kaiketi. Sisällä istukeli perin innustunut tyttö kertomaan kirkon historiasta. Joten käpäsinkin, jopa kahtena päivänä. (Original) Käytiin kuuntelemassa Messias oratorio. Kyllä on upeaa kuunneltavaa kirkossa. Sopii hyvin omanlaisille konserteille. Kirkko kaunis.
(Translated by Google) I comment on this the same as I do on all the other churches that I haven't been able to visit. In Finland, the church wonders why people are alienated from it. I wouldn't be surprised. The doors are locked to people, except for a couple of hours a couple of days a week. It would be great if you could come to the church to be quiet when you feel the need, maybe even to talk to someone. Why can't a roadside church be open all year round, always? This church is handsome from the outside and it would certainly have been beautiful to look at from the inside too, but I missed seeing it now, too bad. (Original) Kommentoin tähän saman kuin kaikkiin muihinkin kirkkoihin, joihin en ole päässyt sisälle tutustumaan. Suomessa kirkko ihmettelee miksi ihmiset siitä vieraantuvat. En ihmettelisi. Ovet ihmisille lukossa, lukuunottamatta paria tuntia parina päivänä viikossa.

It has everything you need, from groceries to household items, all at reasonable prices. The store is clean, well-organized, and the staff is always friendly and helpful. Shopping here is super convenient!
Biggest supermarket market in Lappeenranta and very convenient to find all the stuff. Have a friendly and quick customer service🙋‍♀️ and security is very good 💯. Self service is also available 🤳. You can find very good vegetables🥕 and fresh fruits🍎 all the time. Open hours: Monday to Sunday - 7am - 11pm
Affordable and nicely upgraded. Looks so modern these days, after I've been away from Lappeenranta.
Prisma is one of the biggest departmental stores in Lappeenranta. There are plenty of products which are necessary for daily life. You would find grocery items, fruits, fish, meats, clothing, shoes, electronic items like mobile, tv etc., baby foods, toys, ski, skates, beddings and what not. There are also a couple of restaurants, S-pankky bank, an eye clinic, mobile and Aptekki (pharmacy) etc. in the same compound. It has a huge parking lot. There's also a fuel pump in front of the market. If you need to buy something, anything, at first you should try it in Prisma Disclaimer: grocery prices here may be higher than in Lidl.
It's one of the largest grocery stores in Lappeenranta where you would find every household item. A wide range of Fresh Vegetables, Fruits, Frozen Items, Ice Creams, Cold Drinks and many more.. A must visit place for a newbie in town.

Lappenrenta Railway Station is clean, efficient, and easy to navigate. A pleasant stop with good connections to surrounding areas.
Good train station, convenient to have a bus station there as well. There is one coffee shop and it is a bit small but it is more than enough.
The buses to lut university always leave 2 minutes before a train arrives (not really their fault but still). The station also closes at 21:00 which might force you to wait it out in the freezing cold for half an hour before your bus comes. There's also a general lack of seating inside of the station which I assume is to make you buy something from the cafe.
Good space and easy to get on the train. But lots of stairs to get into the station and it does not feel very clean. There was throw up on the stairs and floor
Nice and cool little town with single out building structures alot of natural forest and sea flowing through it...
Lovely little train station a bit side of the heart of town. I really recommend the cafe in it. Loses star for monetized restrooms.
Much restaurants, proper and modern. Trains are almost always on time. Vr trains has got WiFi connection.
Local railway station of the city with single track only (most of the time), next to the main bus station and also has a cafeteria in the building.

A focal landmark of Lappeenranta. The red brick pops beautifully in different seasons. The church is a striking example of Neo‑Byzantine red‑brick architecture, designed by the Russian academician Georgi Kosekoff around 1912–24 . Its domed tower and four smaller turrets create a dramatic skyline view, especially against the open embankment space.
Massive from nearby, beautiful from distance.

In the history of the development of the church, there is a chain of coincidences from the beginning to this day. It's worth a visit if you're passing through here. At least in this jubilee year, there are many events where the path of the church unfolds with its many stages. (Translated by Google) The Lappeenranta church was inaugurated on August 12, 1924. The church was originally built as an Orthodox garrison church. Its Christ on the cross altarpiece is the handwriting of Ilmari Launis from 1924. The red brick church is located in a scenically valuable place called In the middle of Nikolai's ramparts. In terms of style, the church represents a typical neo-Byzantine style. Services and concerts are organized in the church. The church is open to the public in summer and at other times by appointment. The church was originally designed by the Russian academician Georg Kosekoff for the needs of the Russian garrison located next to it. The construction work was already started in 1912, as the church was wanted to be completed for the 300th anniversary of the Romanov family in 1913. However, the church was not completed by the planned deadline. In August 1914, the construction of the church was stopped once and for all, when the troops of the garrison moved to frontline service after the outbreak of the First World War. After the end of the world war, the church project was returned to again. To the central location of the city of Lappeenranta, i.e. the so-called An Orthodox church had risen on the ramparts of Nicholas. After Finland's independence, the church building had remained state property. In 1919, the State Council donated the church, finished on the outside, but completely unfinished on the inside, to the parish of Lappeenranta "to be used for parish and other Christian purposes". The well-known architect Josef Stenbäck initially planned the transformation of the Orthodox church into a Lutheran one. The church's mechanical organ is from 1967. (Original) Lappeenrannan kirkko vihittiin käyttöön 12. elokuutta 1924. Kirkkoa rakennettiin alun perin ortodoksiseksi varuskuntakirkoksi. Sen Kristus ristillä -alttaritaulu on Ilmari Launiksen käsiala vuodelta 1924. Punatiilinen kirkko sijaitsee maisemallisesti arvokkaalla paikalla ns. Tunnettu arkkitehti Josef Stenbäck alustavasti suunnitteli ortodoksikirkon muutokset luterilaiseksi. Kirkon mekaaniset urut ovat vuodelta 1967.

(Translated by Google) A very nice place with a guide on the tour. There is enough story and you can dive back in time (Original) Erittäin mukava paikka opas kierroksella. Tarinaa riittää ja voi sukeltaa ajassa taaksepäin
(Translated by Google) History lives on in this house, the interior is full of details from everyday life in the past, and the guide's stories bring those who lived in the house closer to you. (Original) Tässä talossa historia elää, sisustus on täynnä yksityiskohtia menneestä arjesta, ja oppaan kertomukset tuovat talossa eläneet lähelle.
(Translated by Google) The Wolkoff Museum tour is paid. A 1-hour comprehensive tour of the house and the people who lived at the turn of the 1800s and 1900s. Before the tour, put on your shoes, you can get them there. The rooms are wonderful, with lots of details. It's good to hear and see the history of that time with your own eyes. I recommend it to all ages. There is a shop there with lovely old-time stuff, also for children. The only challenge is the stairs. (Original) Wolkoff museo esittely on maksullinen. Ainoa haaste on rappuset.
(Translated by Google) The guide was excellent at explaining the place. Clear presentation (Original) Erinomaisesti opas osasi kertoa paikasta. Selkeä ulosanti

Nice museum. It’s small but the exhibits are good. You need to buy tickets. Normal ticket is 11e. Free for kids below 18. Some sections are only in Finnish. That’s a bit inconvenient but still I liked the place and vibes.
It's always nice to learn something new, especially because I didn't know about Finnish history and this part of Europe. Certainly a beautiful and sad history of Karelia. Museum really nicely represents history. Greetings from Serbia
Is a must you have to visit, it gives you the idea of what was this town in the past, in the museum there is also exposed stuff that was used in the famous pizzeria "casa nostra". The owner, Adriano Vinciguerra, was very famous not only in Lappeenranta but in the whole Finland
Great museum providing deep glance in to the history and culture of South Karelia.
Excellent when you can read Finnish. Lots of interesting information.
Very interesting itinerary temporary exibitions
Really interesting exhibitions! I didnt knew much about Karelian history or even the region/city of Lappeenranta. They had info in both Finnish and English for everything and their exhibitions were fascinating! If you are in town I really urge you to go here, if not for the museum so for the area of Linnoitus where there are other museums and a beautiful view over the whole city.
The museum is located in historical place where old fortress has been located from old times. Museum is small, only two rooms. The exposition in the first room was really interesting and decorated artistically: mythology of South Carelia and northern Siberia. In the second room you can see some items illustrating history of Lappeenranta to our days. Ticket is 8 euro for students.

(Translated by Google) The Lappeenranta Town Hall, completed in 1829, is the oldest wooden town hall in Finland that has survived to this day. When it was completed, it was, along with the church, the first public building in Lappeenranta. The Town Hall, which was damaged in the bombings in 1940, has been repaired to almost its original color. In the interior, partially original refurbished, individual furniture and lighting have been used. Lappeenranta's town hall is one of the city's most magnificent buildings.  The town hall has been danced, weddings celebrated, the New Year welcomed and the city represented. (Original) Vuonna 1829 valmistunut Lappeenrannan Raatihuone on Suomen vanhin, nykypäiviin asti säilynyt puinen raatihuone. Vuonna 1940 pommituksissa vaurioitunut Raatihuone on korjattu lähes entisen väriseksi. Sisustuksessa on käytetty osittain alkuperäisiä kunnostettuja, yksittäisiä kalusteita ja valaisimia. Lappeenrannan raatihuone on yksi kaupungin upeimmista rakennuksista.  Raatihuoneella on tanssittu, juhlittu häitä, otettu vastaan uutta vuotta ja edustettu kaupunkia.

The full points may be affected by the fact that just when we arrived, the sunshine made the object the most descriptive. One of the most beautiful and stylish buildings in the whole city!
