Superb to see ancient archaeology so well preserved. Nice to wander freely through the ruins. The signs provided useful historic details. The walk up is a little rugged so wear good footwear.
When here you must experience this historical site. Sort of blows your mind to think about what it’s witnessed over the years and here we are blessed with its reverence here today. A trek up a winding road, vehicle recommended and not for the inexperienced driver - very narrow and if you meet other vehicles be prepared to reverse against a sheer drop if heading up. A longish trek at the top to the site itself, hard going and sensible footwear needed. NOT for the unfit or less able.
The €10 ticket price is too high. There are no restrooms and the park is quite large. There are no informational brochures or audio guides. The information signs and benches should be renovated — or the ticket price should be reduced.
Visiting Ancient Thera was a fascinating and rewarding experience. The mountaintop location offers stunning panoramic views, and the ruins give an incredible glimpse into life in ancient Greece. It’s truly a must-see for history lovers. To make the site even more accessible and enjoyable, it would be helpful to add more resting spots or benches along the paths. This would allow older visitors or those with physical limitations to explore the large site more comfortably. Additionally, informative signs or even a holographic presentation showing daily life in Ancient Thera could greatly enhance the educational value and attract a wider audience. Overall, an inspiring place that brings history to life—highly recommended!
Walk up to the site is hard, but worth it. A city on top of a rock, amazing views. Can be windy, not much shade and no facilities on actual site, be prepared!
The drive up to Ancient Thera is quite challenging, with many sharp bends and stretches too narrow for two cars to pass safely — definitely not for nervous drivers. There’s also a lack of clear signage, which caused us to stop prematurely at the “house” area instead of reaching the main site. Echoing other reviews, the €10 entrance fee feels steep given the limited amenities — no shade, no restrooms, and very few informational signs, which makes it hard to appreciate what you’re seeing. The ruins could be more engaging with better explanations and facilities. That said, the panoramic views from the top are stunning, especially in fine weather
Bigger site than expected, you san spend hours. Incredible to imagine how big this city might have been. Way better preserved than expected.
Open as of April the 3rd 2025 (10 eur/person). Worth the ride and hike up, wonderful views from the top, the site is walkable through a 'secured' path and there are numerous signs explaining the various building remains. The path for visitors could be maintained better, I would not be comfortable walking around in flip-flops.

Visit to Gaia Winery this afternoon was fantastic. Table for two on the beach, tasting five of their wines - three whites (Assyrtiko, Moschofilero and an Assyrtiko/Roditis/Moschofilero blend) a rosé (Agiorgitiko/Syrah) and a red (Agiorgitiko). Our sommelier was really good - she described all the wines, provided a lot of information, then left us alone to enjoy sampling the wines at our leisure. All the wines were very good but (not included in the tasting) their white Santorini Thalassitis does stand out - we tried a small glass and bought a bottle. The wines were accompanied by some delicious cheeses. Here, quoting from their menu, as a record for my reference: "GRAVIERA" FROM IOS Yellow-gold cheese, produced from fresh pasteurized cow (80%) and sheep (20%) milk. Tasty and balanced. "FRAGKOSYRIANI" FROM SYROS The cheese is produced in limited quantities, exclusively from Pasteurized milk, mainly cow milk and a small quantity of sheep and goat milk, with at least three months of ripening which gives a spicy flavor and intense, full taste. Its golden skin makes it look like Parmesan. "VOLAKI" FROM ANDROS It takes the name from its round shape. Soft and butter taste produced from 100% cow milk. "MPOYRNIA" FROM ANDROS The Andriotic version of Kopanisti made from 100% cow milk. A soft yellow-ivory cheese with intense pepper taste and good thickness. This last cheese really surprised me. It was a white (or off-white) cheese that tasted like a blue cheese.
Had an amazing afternoon here, sitting by the beach drinking great wines. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and made it a memorable experience. Recommend to anyone that likes wine or just enjoys a relaxing fun experience!
This place is amazing, the tasting menus are so affordable and the wine is delicious. Such a beautiful setting too, it’s right on the beach. The sound of the waves provided such a lovely backdrop. Elena (hope I spelled her name correctly) was incredible, so kind and knowledgeable. I wouldn’t skip this winery.
A wonderful setting for wonderful wine. Very good knowledgeable staff. Recommend it to everyone visiting Santorini.
We had a few hours before we had to be at the airport for our flight so we thought we would pop here for some wine and cheese board. It was absolutely fantastic. The sound of the ocean, the brilliant wine and attentive staff made it such a wonderful and relaxing experience before we catch our flight. I would highly recommend.
Beautiful winery located on the beach, tasty wine, tasting is 30€ per 7 wines
We did the grand tasting, and it was really great. Excellent value for money, and the wines were delicious. The tasting expert was lovely and really knowledgeable. The sea views whilst tasting were also really special!
What a lovely wine tasting experience! It was raining outside and it was fully booked, but we still managed to get in. A wonderful woman told us all about the wines in detail, and at the end we even got a small tour. I warmly recommend this to everyone!

Unique art gallery in Fira! Absolutely loved my wooden pebble sculpture. The sculptor is super friendly and talented and you will fall in love with the pieces and art inside the shop! Would definitely pay a visit when in Fira!
Each piece is made by hand and you can feel the time and energy that has been out into each piece. This is an incredible spot if you’d like to add an authentic piece of Greek art to your collection. They take time to package and ship pieces to ensure that it arrives to your final destination with the greatest care.
They have a big collection of local artists’ works. I bought this unique silver ring at their shop with a reasonable price. The staff is very nice and friendly. Would highly recommend visiting and checking out the beautiful wooden sculptures handmade by Eduart.
Edwart’s art work I unique, beautiful. The artist is usually at the shop. Edwart and his sister Myra provide the greatest personalized service. Highly recommended.
BRILLIANT work by a very talented artist. I'm thrilled to have a piece of his art in my home.
We purchased a wall hanging made of slate for our new "Beach House" and regrt not buying more.
(Translated by Google) There are at least 2 shops in Fira, both very nice. Apparently, the wood carvings are made by two brothers who live on the island of Santorini. They use either eucalyptus from Santorini (superb result) or other species imported, particularly from Africa.

Amazing selection of local hand crafted items, and the owners are so lovely and very helpful and delightful! I purchased a beautiful Greece towel/blanket, stylish sunglasses, a beaded bracelet and a nice men’s t-shirt. I could have spent HOURS there, there was so much to look at and see! I already want to go back to shop again!
It was the most beautiful experience I ever had while buying a dress. I was helped by the shops owner and she was the most beautiful person I’ve meet in a long time. She was honest, kind and had such a warm personality. Whenever I will wear the dress I bought I will always remember how much of an impact we have on each other. I have this theory that if one person can go out of their way to show compassion then it will start a chain reaction of the same. -Rachel Joy Scott
Great summer clothes !!! I wanted to buy everything !!! I got a jumpsuit for me and a pair of pants from viscose for a present but I’m going back for sure!!!
This is hands down the loveliest shop in Kamari! The woman working was so incredibly warm and welcoming and friendly. I truly appreciate her honesty and genuine quality, it made shopping 10x easier and fun. She reminded me of a fun aunt! And their clothes and other inventory are so fashionable. I bought a dress here and have been totally in love with it ever since. Would definitely recommend, 15/10
The worst experience ever. The girl is very polite when she think I will buy all the shop, when I didn't like really anything when I tried, she told me "you're not allowed to try more clothes". Hopefully, I could buy same stuff in the shop of the corner. After, I asked in the place that I was sleeping in Kamaris where they know her, and they told me "She is always trying to do same things, treat the tourist as stupids ". Good face before, if you don't buy, bad faces. Im travelling 14 years in a row, and i never see in my life this behaviour.
This should not be a secret! Lovely staff and a bit of a Story. I will remember my visit fondly. Recomend the Philos brand clean lines and value for money.
The owner is the coolest man! And the selection of clothing is excellent! And great value! We loved it here.
Very rude staff (I believe it was the owner). Mean and condescending, would not let me try on clothes, saying it wouldn't fit, but didn't suggest anything else.
