Go with a hat, running shoes and with water if you are there at the summer. Amazing view, easy difficulty, but be careful with the heat. Enjoy the atmosphere and take breathtaking photos!
Amazing views. Go past the end of the boardwalk on the east, past the restaurant (which may be closed due to season), through some bushes, you’ll see the path others have carved, and you can walk on the rocky cliffs for another while, at the end of which you will find a gigantic cave that you can see from the cliffs ( photo attached) Go explore and adventure!
Best time to go is at sunset! So beautiful! Difficulty is moderate due to taking paths away from the boardwalk on to the cliff paths. I recommend running shoes 👟 or water shoes. Crocs are ok if they are new, sandals are NOT recommended.
A relatively short wooden walkway, which has some great views of the sea and cliffs. We visited early morning out of peak season and it was relatively quiet. There is a small free car park nearby.
Best walkway ever! The views are stunning and we loved all the stairways to explore the caves along the way. The town and beach in Carvoeiro are also lovely. Definitely add this to your list of must do’s when visiting the Algarve.
I visited the Carvoeiro Boardwalk in Portugal's Algarve region. This short, 600-meter wooden walkway clings to dramatic limestone cliffs, offering stunning views of rugged coastlines, hidden caves like Algar Seco, and the turquoise Atlantic. It's an easy 20-minute stroll, perfect for photos and fresh sea air. The path blends natural beauty with a touch of adventure – I felt invigorated by the scenery and breeze. A highlight for any Algarve trip!
Great area to see and experience Portugal’s dramatic shoreline. Epic views of grottos, caves, plunging cliffs, crashing waves.
Beautiful views and access to the caves and walkways cut into the rock. Unfortunately I had someone afraid of hights with me so couldn't go the whole way. Would recommend.

Fantastic location. Very friendly and very helpful staff. The rooms are kept very clean with daily cleaning. We were lucky to be able to book on relative short notice a T2 Bungalow. Very traditional architecture and interior. One critique I have is that the settees in living room are dated and heavy. Kitchen could use some more utensils. In general the place has a million dollar location and the grounds are beautiful.
Recently returned from the Algar Seco Parque and would definitely recommended it as a place to stay in Carvoeiro. The apartment had stunning sea views and was located very close to the boardwalk and also nicely located near some good restaurants at the top of the road, and not too far from the beach. The apartment itself was lovely, and the decor was traditional. The apartment had everything we may need for our stay and the kitchen was one of the best I’ve come across, with a dishwasher included. The apartment was spotless and the cleaning provided throughout the week was excellent. The pool always had sunbeds available and there was plenty of parasols available. Overall, a very enjoyable week in the Algarve.
I cannot recommend Algar Seco Parque enough! The service was spectacular with genuine and kind staff. The rooms are spacious, clean, comfortable and are aesthetically beautiful. The location is perfect as you have easy access to the beach, boardwalk and day trips on both the east and west side. The Bistro is some of the best food we’ve had and the pools were relaxing and not overcrowded. Thank you Algar Seco for a family vacation we will always remember.
Algar Seco Parque is a fantastic holiday destination. We stayed in a Catrineta Suite, which was very clean, spacious and had fantastic views of the sea. The resort was very quiet and relaxed. The pool area was great, clean and well maintained. The staff were amazing and could not do enough to help. Carvoeiro is a wonderful friendly town with numerous restaurants and bars. The food was always great and very reasonably priced. Highly recommended. It has to be our top destination so far. Thank you
I have been to Algar Seco 3 times now. Every time it never disappoints, the rooms are modern and fresh , the pool area is lovely and no rush for sunbeds is needed! The staff are some of the nicest people thank you to Nelson and Sarah in the bistro especially:). The views of the Atlantic aswell are beautiful. Already booked for next year!! 😁
This hotel is exquisite. I cannot recall a more perfect spot in all my travels. Our bungalow was huge and elegantly decorated with amazing oceanfront views; the staff was extremely welcoming and cheery; the grounds were gorgeous; the bistro breakfast was tasty; and the hotel was perfectly situated on the incredibly picturesque Algar Seco, just at the base of the boardwalk along the cliff tops into town. Our only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer!
Lovely big room, great sea views, friendly staff and great service. Lovely pool area and simple but good cafe/bar
We were a last minute booking and had a wonderful time. The hotel / resort is clean, well maintained with beautiful gardens and three pools overlooking the boardwalk. The service is fantastic - all of the staff went out of their way to accommodate us. Breakfast isn't included in the price but is great value and very generous. We stayed in Carvoviero to see friends and the location is perfect for nearby restaurants in the evening and the Earth cafe for morning coffee. The boardwalk is opposite the hotel and Boneco restaurant in the cliffs is spectacular. The whole place has laid-back, friendly vibe. It feels like you are going back in time but in a very good way - we and our children loved it!

Such a hidden gem!!! Great beach that you can easily access through stairs. Not too windy and has great sunlight. 100% recommend. It feels like you’re finding a secret beach in between the rocks. You can stop by during your hiking or park your car in the parking lot.
Beautiful beach, we took the little hike up the stairs on the cliffs to get there, there's two sets of stairs (entrances) on each side to get down, one is easier than the other. Going through the man made tunnels and stairs gave us a little thrill. Beautiful view, no words can describe the magic of this place.
Great beach, can be super busy in high season. I went in August. The best bit about this beach is the cliff jumping although the ones to the right of the beach are kind of closed. There is a sign saying €500 fine if you go round the little fence they have put up. It didn't deter most people though as there were people doing it still. On the left of the beach there is a larger cliff with no signs saying you can't jump so thats the one I did. Only around 10m's high so not too bad.
Probably once an edyllic beach, but these days are gone. Overcrowded by tourists and people who bother you trying to sell things. Very noisy due to the constant stream of tourist boats and jetskies that come to drive fullspeed through the echoing caves. Also those boats disturb the waves and wash up the algae making the water and beach dirty and full of algae.
Great beach! A lot of stairs so beware. And in August it’s very crowded.
It is a very particular beach. It is surrounded by the cliffs and it looks really nice but it was extremely full of algae and that were mosquitoes and insects because of the algae on the sand that occupied a lot part of the beach. It was smelly. I guess the algae is cleaned in the summer because it looked very different that on the pictures. After 16:00 only a third of the sand has sun and the rest is under the shadows.
So cool to walk down to the beach through the tunnel of stairs carved out of the Limestone cliff. The parking lot is extremely close as well, so it’s not like other beaches which you need to park kms away. Definitely do this. A great option for you if want a beach day with something that isn’t a typical “walk up”
Went here to swim before going back to Sweden tomorrow. Unfortunately it the wind was blowing from the south so the beach was covered with black stuff. I still think it’s one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve seen in Europe. Better luck next time

Peaceful, gold beach surrounded by cliffs, popular with divers, with a cave nearby.

Stunning coastal views along the Algarve cliffs A beautiful stretch of nature that reminds you how wild and majestic the Algarve can be. The trail winds past dramatic cliffs, hidden beaches, and turquoise waters, with every corner offering a picture-perfect view. We hiked a section near Vale Centeanes, and the scenery was unforgettable — quiet, clean, and raw. The stairway down to the beach carved into the cliffs is a unique highlight. Highly recommended for nature lovers, hikers, and anyone wanting to enjoy Algarve beyond the typical resort scenes.
Gorgeous little beach, no overcrowded in early October. Tide was a little high at about 2pm. Had a fresh beer and octopus for lunch at restaurant with view of the ocean! Delicious and prefect Sunday afternoon.
Picturesque beach with caves and white sand! Water was turquoise color and so clear. I’m sure it gets packed for summer, but we had a great time walking the beach in barefoot during winter time. It was so peaceful.
Cool looking beach. There’s a lot of seaweed and the water is a bit choppier than the bigger beaches.
Beautiful sandy beach and cliffs. Very picturesque beach, with a restaurant bar nearby. Parking is pretty good compared to other beaches on this coast line. Lots of seaweed and can be rocky, so sea boots/shoes probably wise.
To much seaweed 🙄 Otherwise it would be a nice beach.
Small but very scenic beach. Steep incline there and back. No shelter from sun...must bring a parasol. Beach bar is lovely - well managed. Ate there one evening. Very nice but expensive. Manager very friendly and warm welcoming.
Nice and small beach, easy to access, clean, and great place to swim

Landmark, red-domed beacon atop a sea cave carved into sandstone cliffs & open for tours in summer.
Slide 1 of 8
We hiked about 7km from Farol de Alfanzina along the Seven Hanging Valleys Trail, and it was absolutely incredible. The views of the cliffs, sea caves, and natural arches—especially the Benagil Cave from above—were unreal. We hike a lot, and found the trail quite easy overall, though there are some steep sections. That said, the cliffs are massive and unguarded in many areas, so it’s definitely not a place to let your guard down. It got really busy with tourists on the way back, so we grabbed an Uber instead of doubling back—which worked out great. One of the most scenic and memorable hikes we’ve done. Highly recommend.
So pretty! This lighthouse makes such great pictures in the middle of this trail. We could not get closer to it since there are fences all around it but still very cute spot. I would recommend seeing it while you’re hiking because it is not worth it to go there just for the lighthouse. You can park near it in the street (free).
Very cool light house on the Seven Hanging Valleys trail. There is some parking near the lighthouse if you wanted to just see that and not hike the trail, but I would recommend hiking if you’re up for it! Beautiful views all around.
Top place to be on a summer day 😎👍👍 This was a great Summer time spent with Family and Friends.. The area is great. Perfect for some walks with an stunning views over the Ocean. 🌊 Highly recommended.. sumes is the best season to visit, but winter it is also cool.. another beautiful 🤩
Well worth parking your car here and walking the cliff tops to the beaches. so many opportunities to take amazing pictures.
This is a beautiful cliff top walk area. The lighthouse is just an added bonus. Paths are clearly marked and well used but remember it is a cliff top. The views are amazing and it's a good place to spend a few hours wandering around.
Lovely coastal path walk. The path to the East of the lighthouse is steep & rocky in places so wear strong walking shoes. Stunning views over the cliffs and many huge sinkholes to peer into. Note that you cannot enter the lighthouse grounds.
So we will start this review that the lighthouse is closed to the public. There are trails you can walk and sight see. There is also a picnic spot not far from the lighthouse. There is no trash cans, so to avoid littering we recommend to take a bag for your trash. The trails are slightly moderate and we recommend good shoes. The scenery is amazing so you can get lost in its beauty for a good couple of hours.

Beautiful little beach, access to the cave only at low tide so plan accordingly. The stairs are not super safe so be careful especially with children. Beautiful views from above and along the beach. Took some beautiful pictures here.
Stairs still closed - beautiful beach from above. Can walk here along coast trail from Algar Seco parking area
This place is stunning, especially when viewed from the cliffs above the beach. You can even swim to the massive cave (or possibly walk during low tide?). I personally visited the cove during a long hike along the cliffs, for it is only one of many amazing coves and sights along the cliff walk
Went first in the cave with a boat and then walked on the top. Good to walk if you want to see amazing views. It will leave you really without breath. Some stairs are going down from there but those are not to go to the cave. Water colour is amazing as you can see the see bottom from the top of the cave. On this footpath there are a lot of mind blowing views to enjoy. Wish you all to go there one day.
Very beautiful but in November I tried to go and the very last part of the trail seemed to have a missing ladder and I didn't feel safe going down. Also, at a higher tide there is almost no beach to be on. Dramatic and beautiful rock formations.
Gnarly stairs for kids, but we had fun anyways!!!! Very cool views and experience Parked in the hotel parking lot
Fantastic little beach which is usually not full thanks to the slightly more difficult access, and the fact it's only usable at low to medium tide. The sand is always moist as a result, which is perfect for sand castles, and there is a stunning cave to explore if one gets bored of sunbathing. The water was crystal clear on our two visits, and apparently there is also good diving and snorkeling in this cove, as evidenced by the wetsuit clad punters we saw on both occasions. What more could one want?
Beautiful beach with no acces to the cave and no sand at high tides. Climbing up and down can be hard for many people. Not a part of Tivoli ;)

Great view point to go too and is the starting point of a costal walk/hike. Stunning views and just a beautiful little place to visit!
Small little fort on top of a cliff. It allows for nice views. Unfortunately one cannot get too close to the edge of the cliff, and there is a double wall preventing it, making difficult to get the best angles. Besides the operative platform, there are a few buildings that seem to belong to city hall services, and a chapel. And then there is a magic flower kingdom children playground in front of it.
You'll pass by here as you walk up the hill from the center of Carvoeiro, and head out towards the boardwalk along the cliffs. In 2025 they added this wonderful statue of a fisherman, looking out to the sea. Enjoy!
Lovely area great atmosphere and walks. You can get right down to the sea and see some amazing rock formations or just take in the sights and sounds in the baking heat.
Nice town. A lot of small shops and places for coffee or quick meals.
The forte is in a beautiful location perched at the edge of a cliff overlooking the sea and village of carvoeiro good at anytime of the day I preferred sunset for the colours

What a fabulous location for this restaurant! Stunning views. We only stopped for a drink as it was raining and we were all cold, but the menu did look great. There's a fabulous view of the sunset from a little hidden cave, but the decking is all broken so please be aware you'll need to walk on dodgy broken decking! Apart from that, it was 10 out of 10 with lovely attentive staff. I recommend you go here!
Overall worth the visit - for ambiance and views; make a res 4 weeks in advance if possible. Long line of people waiting for tables up the stairs. Views are a solid 5; food is a 3 (mediocre). Service was prompt and friendly- props to the staff for that! We had the garlic prawns appetizer, regional cheese/bread (overly salty and similar to parmigiana), personally not a fan, spicy fish soup in which I do recommend(which was not actually spicy). For our main course we tried the hamburger (which was huge! Fries arrived a bit cold and overcooked/crunchy, but hamburger meat was cooked well, but nothing special or out of the ordinary. I got the chicken salad in which had a creamy Cesar like sauce? The grilled chicken inside the salad was more on the dry side and came cold, not sure if it was freshly made for my salad or not? Take the visit and you can make your own observation, but again, worth the visit! Enjoy your time! :)
Boneca is a lovely place with a lovely view of the caves and the sea and is a lovely place to sit and eat and drink! We ordered melon and ham and squid rings, however the squid was chewy and the batter was oily. We had a burger and seabass for our mains. The seabass was lovely, the burger was nice but I bit into a bit of gristle hard and hurt my tooth. The chips were lovely. The food could have been better hence the 4 stars. Staff friendly.
Incredible views. So the food is secondary. It was all okay and prices reasonable. But the ambience was excellent. The wait staff was hardworking with so many people to deal with. Lots of buff guys and women in bikinis (not judging 🧐). The views from the cave are incredible. Definitely Instagram / anything-able. Will be taking visitors again.
This restaurant is AMAZING!!!!! The staff is positively amazing, the ambiance is magical and the food is delicious! There are dozens of stairs to get down to the restaurant, so it is not wheelchair accessible. It is literally at the end of the cliff, down by the water, tucked in between cliffs. Apple Maps let us down severely, giving us a location 3/4 mile away. The correct location is as far south on Estrada do Algar Seco as you can go. 10/10 would go back again and again.
Absolutely unforgettable! This cliffside gem delivered one of the best lunch experiences we’ve ever had. The views were breathtaking, and the seafood—grilled to order—was beyond fresh and perfectly prepared. The staff made the afternoon so much fun with their energy and personality; interacting with them was part of the charm. As if that wasn’t enough, they surprised us with complimentary port wine. A must-visit spot for anyone who loves great food, amazing atmosphere, and genuine hospitality. Pro tip - 15 min drive from Benagil. Stop by for lunch after visiting the sea caves.
Unique spot, with unpretentious food and family run! Gregory was our server and he was AMAZING, he made the experience 100x better and recommended some amazing wine. We had the oysters and they were delicious, caught fresh everyday.
THE BEST MOOD/LOCATION FOR DINNER IN THE ALGARVE. We fiancé and I came here for the views and they are 1000/100 Please do not come here expecting to be blown away by the food & have a Michelin star meal because they are not trying to reinvent the wheel here. The food is super fresh, simple and straightforward in the way it is prepared and served. The highlight of the location aside from the view is the fabulous wait staff. Bernardo was our waiter for the evening and he was absolutely tremendous!!! He was very respectful, knowledgeable and great to talk to! My finance and I liked to develop a relationship with our server and really try to talk with them and get to know them. By the end of dinner, we didn't want to leave. We would 100% recommend this spot and would even say to go out of your way to try and go visit.
