Parkland around Torrance House hosting a children's zoo, ornamental gardens and adventure play area.

We went as a family of 4, 2 adults & 13yr old and 6yr. Got there for doors opening to the zoo at 10am - tickets were a total of £12 all together! Kids enjoyed seeing the animals and areas are clean, staff are friendly. Cafe is reasonably priced - we however brought a picnic Kids played for ages in the park before we went on one of the trails. Would definitely go again and would recommend for a cheap family day out!
Calderglen Country Park is the perfect day out near Glasgow. The zoo is small but full of charm, with South American animals like coatis, capuchin monkeys, iguanas, and tropical birds. Great for kids and adults alike! The surrounding park is huge, with beautiful woodland trails, riverside walks, waterfalls, and play areas. Ideal for families, walkers, and anyone looking to enjoy nature. Don’t miss this peaceful and affordable escape!
Beautiful woodland walks, especially early morning or late afternoon when the park is a little quieter, very popular for dog walking, also very relaxing.
What an experience! The EK Pumpkin Patch run by Victoria, Liam and their family in Calderglen Country Park was truly the best we have attended! You can tell so much effort and care went into organising the event with so much attention to the little details. It's a family run event, welcoming to all. The staff were amazing and so friendly. We attended on the final day and after speaking with Victoria and Liam about the charity I work for, they made a very generous donation towards an event for the people that we support! I cannot thank them enough for their generosity and unwavering kindness. I highly recommend all events run by Inspired Events. Thank you!
Well this is an absolute gem of a wee zoo, lots of parking and the zoo is well kept with lovely staff there are some animals inside but outside is where it's at the garden is lovely to sit and ponder if needs must and listen to the chirping of all the beautiful birds to see and some other cracking animals (I don't won't to spoil) it's a nice day out it can be quick to go round and see everything but then you have the beauty of the country park to see right afterwords.
It’s the best way to relax and walking and looking a nice view as well
Fab place! Park is free. Forest walks. Great play area of children of all ages. Wheelchair ♿️ Friendly good for buggies. Large open space for dogs and picnics. Small zoo £2 for children £4 for adults. Cafe on site. Wonderful place. Restrooms on site.
Amazing day had by all ages 3 to 40! The play area is clean and in good condition. The zoo was good and the price was £20 for 7 of us!! The kids and adults loved it. Lots of benches for us to eat out packed lunch.

Museum
National museum
Family museum exploring farming history with a 1950s working farm, animals and interactive displays.
Slide 1 of 8
Am amazing museum full farming things, a tractor collection, The best is the farm with animals and a farm house. They have cows, and chicken. Very friendship staff and you can expect free tractor trailer rides every half an hour. Book them at the till even if they are free! Also a history of the local area and the family.
1st time visiting and with my grand children. It was worth the money £12 for adults and £9 for children, under 5s free., also discount s for students and pensioners. This allows you to visit the museum and farm for one year . Plenty animals for kids to look at. Also an old farm house which you can look around. Tractor ride is also free which will take you up to the main bit of the farm. We chose to walk up but on reflection should have taken the tractor ride as we had a double pram . We did get tractor back down to the museum and pram was folded down and put in the back of tractor. Plenty to look at in museum and facilities are good with a cafe (this was a bit expensive if your on a budget) We finished off our day to the play park which has ample tables and benches.
Nice friendly staff across the board probably minus one in the cafe but the rest all friendly. Great set up, registered for the year very good and will return. Good tractor ride up to the farm, park pretty good with plenty of picnic tables. A lot of tractors to see downstairs aswell as a few activity areas. Good to pass a few hours time.
We decided to explore this museum in our short visit to Glasgow. I think it is a small hidden gem, that is worth to visit. The ticket costs around 13 pounds and it gives you access during all the year. The museum itself is relatively small: I would say it would take 1 hour to see all the things and read all the information. However, the trip to the farm is super great. First, one can go there in a tractor trip (costs already included), which is itself a nice experience. Then, in the farm one can see many animals: pigs, chickens, cows, highland cows, and horses. Unfortunately it is not possible to interact with them, but one can get very nice close pictures! The trip to the farm would take another hour. Coming back to the museum, there is a cafeteria with standard prices I would say. There was a soup of the day option, as well as many other options. I recommend the coronation chicken. It was my first time trying it; it is a combination of curry, chicken and raisins, and tastes awesome. I wish there was more animals and more interactions with them, but it was fun. I would recommend anyone to come to this place also to see high land coos
Had a great day very funny to see the duck parade and also the ride up to the farm on the tractor. Cute wee piggy's to see. Farm house is so nice looking back through the past.
A good experience, went mainly for the farm and it was a good day going there. Friendly staff, great views and was good to see how things are on a working farm. Also got to see cows being milked too which was a surprise!
We spent about two hours at the Museum. While the museum itself didn’t fully capture my interest, I did enjoy the walk to the farm and the tractor ride—it was a nice touch and a bit of fun. The café was on the pricey side, but parking was easy and convenient, and the staff were friendly throughout the visit. I think this place would be a great outing for families with children—there’s more for kids to see and do. For adults without a strong interest in rural history or farming, it might feel a bit quiet.
Lovely afternoon spent at the National Museum of Rural Life. It wasn't a planned visit as I was in Glasgow for a concert the day before and wanted somewhere to visit. The weather was beautiful, blue skies and sunshine, so we walked to the working farm instead of a tractor ride. The new born calves were lovely to see as was the milking parlour. The museum was interesting along with the history of farming. We went on a weekday afternoon so it was very quiet, plenty of parking. The bonus is that the entry ticket lasts for a year, so when I come back to Glasgow I can visit again.

Nature & Parks
Country park surrounding a 16-acre loch, with a watersports centre, adventure playgrounds and cafe.
Slide 1 of 8
Perfect place for a flat, easy run or a walk with the family. Nice short route. Geese, swans and ducks around so the paths have poo on them, very clean otherwise. Usually quite busy with runners, walkers and families.
James Hamilton Heritage Park in Glasgow is a fantastic spot for both relaxation and outdoor activities. The park’s centerpiece is its large, scenic loch, which is perfect for a peaceful stroll or a brisk walk around its perimeter. Water sports enthusiasts will appreciate the range of activities offered, such as kayaking, windsurfing, and pedal boating. The park is well-maintained, with plenty of green spaces, making it ideal for picnics or just sitting and enjoying nature. There’s also a small play area for kids, which adds to its family-friendly atmosphere. The views around the park, particularly at sunset, are quite picturesque, and the wildlife, including swans and ducks, is a nice touch. While the park is easily accessible with ample parking, the café on site could benefit from a few more options. Nonetheless, the peaceful surroundings and variety of activities make James Hamilton Park a lovely place to visit, whether you’re looking to relax or get active.
Lovely walk round the lake, coffee shop, playground and free car parks.
Lovely place for a wee walk! The cafe was closed when I visited it and didn’t use any facilities but the park itself is beautiful!
A beautiful place for a family day out! The large loch is perfect for a peaceful walk, and there’s plenty of open space for picnics and play. The kids loved the playground and running around the open space. Well maintained, clean, and with free parking.
Went for a wee walk round the Loch and a wee coffee, I really enjoyed it very tranquil, and the cafe had a nice wee bustle inside , coffees were lovely and the service was perfect 👌
A great place to take kids...2 different playparks..a cafe for drinks n snacks..in summer there's boats to hire on the loch .there's ducks and swans..paths are level so good for prams and wheelchairs.
A great wee park for walking around, about 1.2km and flat and is paved, nice loch in the centre with all sorts of birds and ducks, easy free parking too, good for keeping fit. Kiddies play area and electric vehicle charging points.

Shopping mall
Shopping
Sizable shopping center offering a variety of stores, casual eateries, a cinema & an ice rink.
Slide 1 of 8
TL;DR: EK, East Kilbride is a massive shopping center with plenty of shops, eateries, and even a ice skating rink. Spacious and convenient for exploring. EK, East Kilbride is a huge shopping center with a wide variety of stores, restaurants, and even a ice skating rink. Conveniently attached to my hotel, it was a great place to stretch my legs after a long drive while exploring everything it had to offer. With so much space and so many options, it’s easy to find just about anything you might need. I even got a little turned around a few times, which just added to the adventure. If you’re in the area, it’s a great stop for shopping, dining, or just wandering around!
Perhaps back in the day this was an excellent shopping centre but now it’s tired, out of date and is feeling a little depressing. Half of the shops are empty units, interior is on the older side. However it was clean, good shop selection and things like escalators , lighting were being worked on to keep on good order, lots of security around too which was nice for safety. Tons and tons of parking, no issues there. But this mall is in need of a major renovation.
Sadly, the former 'largest' shopping mall in Scotland has been falling bybthe wayside for several years. I visit every couple of years from overseas, and there seems to be more and more empty retail shops. Surely whoever owns these, could make it more affordable. Something needs done before the whole place closes and gets redeveloped!
This shopping centre was dead. Signage stated M&S and Sainsbury but they'd both left. Put paper over the direction arrows in the centre. Such a let down of retail space. No wonder no-one shops there.
We visited the Central library. Big , bright, lots of books, tent, big chairs, couches, loved it. Toys too. Staff are so lovely 😍
“East Kilbride Shopping Centre is not as busy as it used to be. It’s a shame to see so many empty shops and restaurants, but hopefully the planned updates will improve the place.”
Fashion boutiques, restaurant, coffee shop, cosmetic’s shops, books, travel agent , money exchange , gym , cinema and much more with a lot of parking from any side with charges but equal to nothing , good business links and taxi stand on one side of the shopping mall . Soft play for kids is there for under five while bigger kids and adult can do the figure skating.
Stayed in the Ramada super clean, spacious rooms free parking directly above the huge shopping centre what more dobyou need. Very reasonably priced rooms to.

Leisure center
Water & Amusement Parks
Leisure pool with flume and tire rides as well as sauna, steam room, sanarium and relaxation area.
Slide 1 of 8
This is an old school swimming pool, with plenty lockers and changing rooms. The admission price is not too steep and the price for parking is more than reasonable, too. Altogether, if you're after a leisurely swim (in a very warm water!) then this place is really good for it. Also, a warm water is very good for children. Recommend.
I paid £8.35 for a Jacuzzi in their health suite. It was not working so I wasted my money. Receptionist didn't tell me that it was out of order and the website doesn't tell their customers if a service is out of order or not. Poor service.
Unfortunately for a town the size of East Kilbride, the only former council gym with saunas chooses to have them open for only approx. 4 hours per day at the weekend. The health benefits of saunas are numerous and well known. Despite the fact the pool is closed for repairs and associated fuel costs are lower, South Lanarkshire Leisure persists with limited access to the Health Suite at the Dollan.
My grandsons are having swimming lessons during the summer . Ages 6and 4 . The instructors are all very nice and the boys are loving it ! Thank you to all at the Dollan pool !
We were at the skatepark at the back of the building not the actual swimming. Good free skatepark wee bit for parking at the side and lights and camera's watching over. Wasn't too busy due to weather but daughter and friend are only learning so they prefer it that way. Need to find info on more of the free concrete skateparks as I can't find them on google maps. Handy wee place for free laughs and injuries.
Can't complain, it only £10 for me and my daughter, no time limit on your pool time, but realistically 1hr -2hr max is defo enough.....staff girl at the desk was really nice and helpful.....really can't complain for a tenner....my daughter made us go back the next day, so that says it all I suppose.....and it was almost empty, so she felt like she had the place to herself....
Decent swimming pool and friendly staff. Pool and changing areas are clean and tidy.
This is a great pool for serious swimmers being a full 50m long and they often have lane ropes out to stop anyone getting in your way. There a couple of gyms onsite too along with a sauna and steam room. The only downside is it's not much of a fun pool for kids although as the floor can be raised or lowered they often make one end very shallow so it's suitable for young children. Edit - The moving floor was broken but is now fixed with the timetable for the pool back to normal. I've added a photo of it here.

We love the place. My little girl is 14 months and this location is nice and spacious and is generous with the play area for 0-4s compared to other wonder world locations and other local soft play companies. They have a wee train and character events which are well managed. We recently met bluey and my little girl loved it.
Well, if you don't want to be extorted then buy the meal deal which is £2 more but saves £7-£8 on a drink and kids meal. This is only available on the hour so keep that in mind. The meals are limited but food is OK. Macaroni is like cheese pasta sauce from a box on regular pasta. The chicken bites are chicken breast and pizza was nice, a little overcooked as were the toasties. The place is popular and decent size. The train is free and on for 30min every 30 min. The baby section is practically around the corner from the larger play area so if you have multiple age range it could be an inconvenience. The entire warehouse is split into 3 different attractions, including air thrill and a small amusements with mini golf. The amusements place is daylight robbery! 4tickets per game on the machines....so 3kids £10 each barely had 60 tickets each ...minimum prizes 150 tickets 😵🤯 The car park has about 100 spaces yet there's 300 people trying to park, its soo bad that there's parking staff having cars queue out of the entrance waiting for spaces to clear before letting the next car in. Queues of 20+ cars at a time it was insane! The result of an owner trying to maximise their profits cramming too much into 1 space. Tbh I feel 3 stars is generous but the play area is good and kids enjoyed it and the meal deal was a decent offer and the free train ride inside but doubt I'd be back unless it's just me and my 3 year old on a weekday when schools are on
Facilities are amazing for the kids, food is fresh and reasonably priced. Staff also go above and beyond. My little one has a dairy intolerance and they hand made a pizza for him, little things like that means the world!
We really enjoyed it, the staff were amazing and very friendly. I love for the fact that the under 4's ( toddlers area) it's in a completely different area ( next to the café on the left hand side) we paid £6.95 for our 16 month old boy and myself and my partner were entry free, so I can't complain about the price, as most softplays charge for the child and also the parents. The reason why I cannot give 5* it's because the train ride was quite scary to my son (very loud when train started moving) and also because the play area was dirty still. ( We were there @ 9:30) apart from that we would definitely go back. 😃
Visited on a bank holiday and was very quiet to start with ,which was great. I was surprised to see a group of 6 teenagers (definitely over 12 ,the maximum age for playing in soft play ) arrive with two smaller children around 6 years old , the teenagers clearly used this opportunity to play in the soft play themself running about taking pictures of each other and squealing loudly. The younger children who could clearly navigate around the soft play themself as that’s what they done anyway never needed the teenagers help, it was unnecessary for them to be running around the soft play. Food: The kids have chicken nuggets which was lovely chunks of chicken breast in batter, I ordered a tuna wrap and can honestly say it gave me the boak ! There was enough tuna to fill 4 wraps in one and tasted awful .(more is not always good ) my friend got the nachos and can say this was lovely. No decaf tea or coffee available or oat milk , disappointing visit !
Just had my first visit with my 20 month old son. He isn't as mobile as other children his age. So I was really pleased to see such a large play area for his age group. There were lots of foam block for us to build towers with. He really enjoyed the little activity walls and the little blue sensory square pads on the floor. I visited in a Friday morning 9.30 - 11am which was nice and quiet. It's starts to get busy at 11am. I will certainly be visiting again.
The food wasn't very nice at all and whilst the soft play was big my daughter didn't like it as I could not go in with her we wouldn't go again however if you are going with more than one child so they can play together I think it would be more fun.
Kids had a fun time. We went late on so wasn't as busy. Has a separate bit for the toddlers. Food and drinks available. Parking can be a issue as the site shares its car park. £12.95 for 2 hours. Happy kids.

First time there great venue front row seat great experience will go back if what I like comes to venue
Great local venue for a variety of entertainment..... very affordable and value for money. Staff are very pleasant and helpful 😊
We came to watch High school musical 🎵, had great fun ! warmly welcomed and easy parking 🅿️. Nice time !
Small friendly theatre great shows like Fancie and Josie always have a great night there
Had a lovely night here at granddaughters dance show. Staff were lovely and every thing running to plan. Only issue was a couple of overenthusiastic 'cheerleaders' who felt it was acceptable to scream and yell continually. Managed to get seats changed, and enjoyed the rest of the performances.
The performances are superb .it's great to see them 👍
This is a lovely theatre, what you go and who produces it will impact your enjoyment the most. The theatre itself is clean including the gents toilets (can't comment on ladies). It has a small bar serving canned alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks with snacks (crisps, nut, etc). Nice friendly staff.
Visited twice recently for pantos. Staff are lovely and the bar is very cheap. As it's quite old, the seats are quite narrow and packed together but a good view from all of them. Personally, I would avoid the first couple of rows for a better view. It's a local theatre and people should use it for entertainment, no need to pay extortionate prices in the city.

Used it for a get together at lollipop land with young children place is clean tidy and very safe for young children to let run wild to an extent staff are friendly and love the children too
Great facility to escape the Scottish winter weather! Very reasonable prices and lots of variety of ramps
At the skate park again. Just watching mind you. Coffee was good. Son loved it.
Brilliant!! My son loved it, we are in the area on holiday and have been twice. Wish we had one of these near home. Lovely friendly staff, reasonably priced cafe and free wi-fi for those.of us who have to sit and watch!!
Apart from a real vert ramp it has something for all types of riding/skating and skill levels. The only indoor park that's open from 10am every day and has a good cafe too. Been riding here since it originally opened about 8 years ago and it is my favourite park, and the price has remained about the same in all that time.
Dint know what id do if this pkace ever closed my family love it .Can get very hot and busy at weekends so take plenty of fluids. Great place with friendly helpful staff. Lots of good jumps ramps & edges to grind
Great indoor skatepark for all ages and abilities. Staff are friendly and helpful giving tips, hints and encouragement to the customers. Very reasonable prices too. A fab day out. Would highly recommend.
Great place and price for a day out for kids who want to skate etc! However find it odd the staff are allowed to use the skate park whilst it’s predominantly young kids using it - saw some potentially dangerous situations occurring during our time there. Other than that a good day out
