Stunning beach. Tide goes out very far and comes racing back as fast. Hence the alarm call. Quite an expanse of sandy beach with a lovely woods behind to provide variety for a return to the car park. Dog friendly. Toilets by car park. Accessible. There's a good bus shuttle service from the car park to the High St.
Absolutely love Wells-next-the-Sea beach! 🌊 It’s one of the most beautiful and peaceful places I’ve ever been to. The wide sandy beach seems endless, and when the tide is low, it feels like you’re walking on the edge of the world. The colourful beach huts look amazing against the golden sand — they make the whole place feel like a postcard. The air is fresh and salty, the views are breathtaking, and the atmosphere is calm and relaxing. It’s perfect for long walks, watching the sunset, or just sitting quietly and listening to the waves. Every time I come here, I feel recharged and inspired. Truly a magical spot on the Norfolk coast 💙
Great place to visit for all the family. Crabbing kits sold with bait in pretty much all the shops or you can hire right by the Quay both options are very reasonably priced. Mile walk to the beach or you can get a bus which runs every 10min, 2 adults and one child £5 single.. fantastically clean beach and the Quay entrance and low tide is about 2ft deep when low tide so great spot to do some paddling safely..
Another lovely beach. Paid parking but when we reached the beach it said no dogs. It was not well sign posted and a kind man told us to walk along under the trees to left left and up some steps over the dunes and we would be on the dog friendly part of the beach. Had he not helped we would have left. Once on the beach it was lovely…huts along the edge and some nice time spent.
What a lovely place to visit for a day. The main street is brimming with individual little shops selling all of the things we want but don't need, candles, throws, pottery, clothing, there's something for everyone. It seems quite popular as it was very busy when we visited. The Fleece pub is nice with a good sized beer garden. The walk to the beach is quite a way but worth a visit with the coloured beach huts etc. Quite a little gem and well worth a couple of hours.
Although I have been to Wells Next The Sea before in the past this was the first time I had ever been to the beach as it's quite some distance from the town and didn't realise it was even there, having said that, don't expect it to be a quiet place as I have been on many many beaches all around the country and Channel Islands and this beach was without a doubt the busiest I have ever seen, although it was August Bank holiday weekend so I can't comment on what it's like normally but on the day I was there it was rammed with people, still a very enjoyable day out though, this is also the first beach I've seen which appears to be in two halves separated by what is basically a river (when the tide is out) which some people were swimming across to reach the much less populated side of the beach, it's interesting to see a beach split like this. Much of the sand here is perfect for sand castles with a mix of textures although some parts of the beach look to contain sticky clay so maybe avoid those areas (mainly where the RNLI vehicles regularly travel across the sand). There's also a beautiful pine forest walk right next to the sand (behind the beach huts) which is very sandy and hilly so may not be for everyone but if you can manage walking up sand hills it's definitely worth it. There's a lovely cafe with a large outdoor seating area here too where we stopped for an ice-cream to top off our day out. I'll definitely be back at some point!
Gorgeous beach with beautiful sands. Plenty of space and worth walking down the beach a bit to get more space as it can be busy. There are plenty of safety warnings to help you have a safe and fun visit.
North Norfolk has got the best beaches. Again, absolutely amazing and huge beach. We loved colourful beach huts, pinewoods and you can even spot the seals. Facilities are closed by, you’d be pleased to know.

The grounds are wonderful. After parking £6. You can access the play area free and high ropes for adventure minded. Cafe is excellent. We hired bikes and would have liked at better run through for 8 yo and 11 yo. Too many gears for occasional riders.
Great place for a day out. Lovely walking around the grounds, a good-quality cafe, and an interesting house. The number of deer in the park is a standout feature. The walled garden is very impressive and well worth the short walk, as it’s not near the house. A big thank you to the person at visitor reception who refunded one of our tickets when one of us was unable to attend.
This is one of the most interesting great houses we have had the pleasure to see. Built between 1734 and 1764 and privately owned by the Coke (pronounced “Cook”) family since then, it is a success story that integrates history and farming. Although tourism clearly makes up a very significant chunk of its revenue, the 25,000 acre estate’s farming, forestry and construction operations - all of which adhere to agricultural, ecological, conservation, and sustainability best practices - fill the coffers. Before you tour the William Kent-designed Palladian house, visit the massive walled garden, rent a bike for the day, attend a special event, or walk for free in the park, please take time to explore the exceptional Holkam Stories Exhibit just past the ticket office. Not only does it set the stage for your day, describe the owners, and discuss the origin of the Coke (read: Bowler) hat, but it outlines how cutting edge technology, now and in the past, has often been integrated into the estate's operations. In fact, this exhibit is so good we spent a full hour there! As for the house, it is - as one would expect - spectacular, but since it is a working home there is not as much information available in the rooms as one might encounter at other great homes (no matter: ask one of the excellent volunteers). The vast walled garden, a 15-minute walk from the house, is worth a visit to see how successfully it is being brought back to life after years of neglect. The gift shop is well stocked with a wide variety of local items. All told, we found our day at Holkam fascinating and more than a bit surprising. Allow at least four hours (but we spent over six).
House, grounds, walled garden, cafe and shop were all very good. Every member of staff went far beyond pleasant and gave such a personal welcome. Other stately homes would do well to come and see how it should be done. It will be the highlight of our Norfolk break that plus the coastal towns and villages, A real Norfolk welcome plus delicious food.
Stayed on site afew times and use the Victoria as a place to meet family for lunch/dinner. It’s an amazing place. The deer calmly roam the site whilst the building itself is in incredible condition. It’s well worth a walk around the inside as the guides are fantastic and really give an insight into its history. The playground is also amazing and really well laid out. Great place and an awesome day out for the family.
Very interesting house with magnificent grounds. Lots of deer roaming around freely - a wonderful sight. Great cafe on site. A gift shop and bicycle hire place too!
Nature reserve and estate with stately home and gardens, entry paid separately. Good for dog walks (on lead) and spotting of the 600 deer and many fowl. Lots of loos, and fresh air, guided walks/rides.
We enjoyed our family holiday in Holkham, the cottage was very comfortable and conveniently positioned next door to a non-rowdy public house, the Hero. We ate at the Hero and it was a pleasant experience, the food was good, the seating comfortable. Once in the house the Pub's customers couldn't be heard. We had a very pleasant week's holiday. The beaches are amazing, large expanses of nice soft sand, fringed with conifer woods and the occasional deciduous tree, when the tide goes out there is a massive area of golden sand but also a fair bit of mud, so keep your eyes on your kids.

Spent the Summer Solstice in the Woods, Dunes, and beaches. Holkham beach is big , suited to those who love to walk. There are a few ways to enter from the car park. Most people go straight on,(quickest route )if you want quieter vibes, take the left path and look for the boardwalk on the right, this will take you to the beach or through the wood's. There is also the option to walk a path through the middle of both on the Dunes. Google maps will help here, and show points of interest in and around the whole area. Have fun 👍 😊
Really popular with dog walkers, this area is well worth visiting. A short walk through the woods brings you to vast open sands with some fabulous sand dunes and the most amazing sea view. A lovely cafe at the car park
We had a really really great time here and will certainly be back. I hadn't researched this beach so was so pleasantly surprised that I was able to take my wheelchair with it's power trike the whole way down to the sea in order to swim with our boy. There is a path through the sand which is mixed with volcanic sand so it is very compacted and perfect for wheelchairs! The beach is dog friendly and accessed via a wooden boardwalk. This is fairly steep so be careful, especially if it is wet. The beach is super scenic, with pine trees and sea lavender. There is loads and loads of parking, a cafe and toilet facilities.
Holkham Nature Reserve is a breathtaking slice of Norfolk’s natural beauty and an absolute haven for wildlife lovers and walkers alike. Covering a stunning mix of landscapes – from salt marshes and sand dunes to pine woodlands and vast beaches – it offers something special in every direction. The reserve is teeming with birdlife, making it a paradise for birdwatchers. You’ll often spot wading birds, geese, and even birds of prey, especially if you walk along the boardwalks or venture out towards the hides. The walking trails are well-marked and range from relaxing strolls to more adventurous hikes with incredible views of the coastline.
Lovely beach, very large sandy area with a wooded area behind it. Dog friendly. If you are travelling there, it's easy to park on Lady Anne's Dr, good facilities at The Lookout including picnic tables, toilets, cafe, area to wash sand off your feet, get a drink for your dog.
The first time I've ever been on a beach with my wheelchair, what a feeling. It might not be accessible for all and improvements are needed, but it's a flipping good starting point. Plus theres the Lookout, with cafe, accessible toilets and stunning views, not to mention a 2km trail to Wells beach, although it's somewhat stoney/bumpy. But it gives you belief in change and a quietened mind.
A lovely visit for a quiet and peaceful walk. A nice wooden walkway takes you from the little tearoom through the pine trees to a wide open space. Despite the wind and shower we had a lovely walk with friends. Plenty of parking.
I went here with young children, quite a long walk to beach from car park for little ones and then I was completely unfamiliar with Norfolk beaches being so vast, we never made it to the actual sea! Nice walk and kids loved splashing in puddles.

A short walk from the car park. Over the sand dunes and get ready for an amazing golden sand beach that stretches for miles. A must visit when in the north of Norfolk.
Miles of sandy beach and beautiful see. Ideal for families and dog lovers. The down sides are you have to pay for parking and there are no toilets or any other facilities. But the place is magical on it’s way, during the afternoon the water rises and the high tide is coming fast you can literally see it changing the beach from minute to minute.
Beatiful area but be ready to walk a lot to get from the parking to the beach, I won’t recommend for people with mobility problem unless you bring the right equipment, special wheel chair with off road wheels is highly recommended
I love this beach, I used to come here a lot when I was a child, so it holds a lot of sentimentality to me, however it's a great place to return to years later. The beach is very well kept and the pathways to the beach are also well maintained, there is a new cafe / exhibition space/ toilet building not far from the car park, it's a great building that sits very well in the landscape, looking more like a bird hide nestled into the dunes than a toilet and a spot for a coffee. The building also has many water bowls for dogs, so bonus points there, their approach to sustainability and recycling is also worth a mention. The staff there are also very hospitable and welcoming. however, the reason you come here is for the beach and it's miles of unspoilt shoreline. It's a joy just wandering down the beach and seeing people enjoying themselves as much as the dogs running free as well as the horses that are frequently galloping up and down the beach. I just wish the beach was closer to where I live!
Beautiful beach with stunning scenery. It's a lovely walk through the forest to the beach. Great place to take your four legged friend and take in the peace and quiet.
The cleanest, largest, most unspoilt beach I've seen in this country.
An amazing place with a very unique light. So much space and room for everyone to enjoy. In the summer a swim is truly amazing too.
Beautiful sandy beach. Provides excellent walking opportunities and fresh air! When the tide is out its really far out! Miles and miles of sandy beach. Go on a sunny day and take clothing that is wind proof. One of the best Norfolk beaches.

The cider here is fabulous. You can also try small amounts, and then buy it in wine bottle sizes. If you want a box you need to order in advance. A huge range in the shop. Small garden at the back, and tables at the front. You can sit and drink some of your purchases! Also very nice dogs :)
What a fantastic place. The cider was superb, sat in the garden and had a bottle of the sparkling medium, very tasty. Would highly recommend if you like cider. Disappointed i didn't buy any to take home. Next time.
Apple cider vini-great! Excellent range and friendly service. Highly recommended 🍎
Lovely small place on the side of a car park. Helpful staff. Samples readily available for both cider and apple juice. Are made on the premises. Well worth calling in for a quick one or a takeaway.
One of the highlights of our short trip to Wells, was this little gem. The pictures don't do it justice, but it's beautiful and the perfect spot to while away the hours on a sunny (or overcast) afternoon. They're absolutely lovely and possibly the most dog friendly spot we found. We had our nervous Dachshund in tow and were made to feel so welcome. You can sample the different varieties of cider (a really nice touch) and they also have a range of local gins, liqueurs, vodkas etc in addition to some lovely jams and honey products. If you're in the area and you like cider (or want some other local alcohol) this is a must! Enjoy a bottle on site and load up on goodies to go. Worth a detour as it really is unlike anywhere else you'll find. I just wish they would also set up in Warwickshire...
Cor blast me! What a cracking little place this cider shop is. Situated on the North Norfolk coast and the town of Wells-next-to-the-sea sits the Whin Hill cider works. It is genuinely one of the best things to do in the town and during harvest time you might see them pressing the apples and pears. The cider can be drunk on site and comes in 1ltr bottles at a very reasonable price. They also have perry and local bottled beers plus apple juice, gins, brandy and snacks. On the premises there is a lovely garden at the back which is a real sun trap and the front court yard is equally as sunny but offers a bit more shade. It is dog friendly as well and you can often see the owners 2 dogs running around and they're very friendly and love a good fuss. The staff at Whin Hill are brilliant! If you're not sure what cider you'll like best, they will take through a couple until you find the right one. Cash and card payments are accepted and you order online or if you're staying locally take some cider/Perry/apple juice home. During the summer months of July and August they're open every day 10:30 am until 5:30 pm. Then weekends only from September through to October 10:30 to early afternoon. Whin Hill has won numerous awards for their ciders so you're in for a treat.
Excellent cider 👌 😋 Friendly and helpful staff, they took the time to explain to our children how it's all made and bottled 👌 a great full distraction so we could have another cheeky half 😉 Bought 6 bottles to take home, too 😁 Highly recommended sit-in and takeaway, too. 👌 Thank you, Whinhill cider. See you again on our next visit to Wells.
Locally produced cider is made and sold here alongside a number of local ales too. You can buy cider by the half (helpful for the stronger ones) or by the bottle if you are feeling brave. You can also sit in the courtyard outside to sample your purchases. Friendly staff and very reasonable prices make this a must visit for cider lovers.

Being right on the coast, as it is, Wells has the freshest and loveliest seafood selection. If you're into your fish, try Wells Crab House. It's located on the main road in, opposite the big car park where the weekend car boot sale takes place at The Ark Royal. The Wells Crab House has delicious, fresh food that you can tell has come straight off the boat. The service is speedy and friendly and there is a nice selection of beers on tap too! If you decide that a seaside holiday isn't complete without fish and chips, then worry not! There are great places right along the front to get some traditional seaside grub and it's not unusual to see the queues winding out the door and along the pavement! People just can't wait to tuck in – you'll see diners lined up along the harbour front, perched on the wall with their chips.
Been coming here for years just love it. A browse round the shops, cafes and bars or just sit near the harbour wall watching kids crabbing, boats and the shell fisherman returning with their catch. We went on an Alpaca walk few weeks ago amazing and you see areas that you wouldn't otherwise see, like the old path under bridge and shellfisherman sorting their catches of the day. Even the odd seal can be seen.
Been coming here quite a few years, always very welcoming by Jim and Annette, good joice of breakfast and always very enjoyable. Would well recommend.

Throughly enjoyable trip. It was fantastic to hear about the history of Lucy Lavers. Our 7 year old had his life jacket on, this was supplied and he was totally safe. I’d recommend this trip to for everyone
THIS TRIP IS ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! Everything about it was wonderful, and I'm so glad I booked it. To sit in this historic vessel was such a privilege. Isaac, the skipper/tour guide was so charming, a natural guide and speaker, who is incredibly knowledgeable about the vessel, the harbour, and many of the other vessels moored in it, and also about the sea and sea-faring. I had spent ages in the marvellous Rescue Wooden Boats museum a couple of days before, and that made me want to see the Lucy Lavers in person. Both the museum, and the boat trip are highly recommended. The museum is by donation, and the boat trip is worth every penny. 😊
Excellent trip - Issac the Skipper had fantastic knowledge of the Boat’s history & local area - felt very personal- must do this trip if visiting the area - Lucy Lavers is a piece of our history that must not be lost
Took a trip on the Lucy Lavers out from Wells next the Sea. Lovely experience and the guide was great! Learnt some interesting facts about the towns history. Was just lovely and highly recommended.
Can highly recommend the boat trip. We took a 90 minute tour of the harbour and out through the channel onto the coast. Issac was a fantastic skipper and it was fascinating hearing the history of the boat and other sites along the way. It was just the right amount of information. We were able to take our dogs too and we all had a wonderful time.
Absolutely wonderful early evening trip on the Lucy Lavers. Our skipper was friendly and very informative about what we were seeing as well as relevant local history. Saw Wells and the beach from a completely different perspective. Will definitely book again on my next visit.
Excellent boat trip. Our guide Issac was very knowledgeable and we were very lucky with the weather which made the experience perfect.
A very worthwhile trip which we thoroughly enjoyed, my husband, granddaughter and I. The skipper was excellent both in his handling of the boat and his knowledge of the boat's history which he imparted in a very clear and interesting manner.

So pleased with my experience with Trevor and Joanna! They were so helpful and I can attest to their prodigious packing skills! They helped my get my items back here to Canada and I’m very grateful!
Great selection of interesting paintings, sculptures and jewellery. Regularly changing material from a range of artists. Worth dropping in if you are passing, though it will probably mean your personal art collection grows each time you visit, mine has ;-)
Great customer service and very professional service, prompt reply to emails and very quick next day delivery. Can't recommend Gallery Plus enough! Alec
