Amazing views! You can check out the rice patties or walk the board walk. There are a lot of fishing sacks on the boardwalk and if you are lucky like me, you will be able to buy fresh fish, clams and oysters. There was a also a car selling home grown veggies/fruits/potatoes.

Those who have seen my reviews, know that I can be somewhat critical at times. However, this Pousada would deserve 6 stars if we could give them. We went here as a couple and were pleasantly surprised by the vastness of the castelo, the design of the interior, the friendliness of the staff, the space of the room and last-but not least the quality of the breakfast. Mid December the hotel was virtually empty which left us all the time to enjoy the atmosphere it has on offer. And that is a lot. Sitting by the fireplace in the evening, after playing some snooker, enjoying the spirits of the honesty bar; what more to wish for? Well a good sleep; the generously sized beds with high quality mattress are made for this. What helped were the last minute off-season offers which added to the experience. Is there nothing to whine? Yes, the outdoor pool was ice cold and the indoor one with sauna, we did not discover. ;-)

Was not expecting the amount of information I got from this museum. Very enlightening about the thousands of years of History regarding this, seemingly unimportant, little town. Worth visiting.

There are only 10 streets and less than a hundred people. 🍽 There is no grocery store here, but there is a small restaurant where you can drink coffee with delicious homemade pastries and try local cuisine, the basis of which is fish, because the village is on the shore of the Pego do Altar reservoir. What else is worth seeing in Santa Susana besides its cute houses: ⛪️ Church founded by the Order of Santiago in the 16th century. However, we did not manage to see the frescoes and paintings on the boards in the main chapel - 16th century, as well as the decoration of the altar of the 18th century, because the church was closed - on Sunday morning, when the service should have started🤷‍♀️ 🌁 The baroque bridge - Ponte de Rio Mourinho, built in the 19th century, is buried under the Pego do Altar water column, so it can be seen only in periods of severe drought, when the water level in the reservoir is critically reduced. 🧘‍♂️Buddhist temple - Stupa Tashi Gomang, one of the largest in Western Europe. His stupa is 16 m high. What else struck me in my heart ❤️ was the road to the village of Santa Susana: picturesque hills planted with cork trees, vineyards, apiaries, green meadows where cows and sheep graze, endless rice fields, and stork nests on every tree post.
