M&D's Scotland Theme Park, located in Strathclyde Country Park, offers a fun day out for families, especially with younger children. The park features a mix of classic rides, such as dodgems, a log flume, and small roller coasters, alongside indoor attractions like Amazonia – a tropical rainforest area with exotic animals, which is a highlight for many visitors. While the atmosphere is generally friendly and welcoming, some parts of the park could benefit from updates and better maintenance. Ride queues are typically manageable, but during peak times, wait times can increase, especially for the more popular attractions. Food options are average, with a few cafes and fast-food stands scattered around, though prices can be on the higher side. Overall, M&D’s is best suited for families with children under 12. For thrill-seekers or those looking for major roller coasters, the experience might feel limited. Still, it’s a convenient and enjoyable outing, especially for locals or those nearby looking for a fun day .
Great Fun at M&D’s Bowling! I recently visited M&D’s Bowling and had a fantastic time! The lanes were in great condition, and the atmosphere was vibrant and family-friendly. The place is ideal for groups, families, or even a fun date night. There were plenty of lanes, so even though it was busy, we didn’t have to wait long. The staff was friendly and helpful, especially when we had a little trouble with one of our balls getting stuck. They were quick to sort it out, and it didn’t interrupt our game. The shoes and bowling equipment were well-maintained and clean. The arcade games and pool tables were a nice bonus, adding more options to keep everyone entertained. We also enjoyed the snack bar, which had decent food and drink choices at reasonable prices. Overall, M&D’s Bowling was a great experience, and I would definitely recommend it for anyone looking to have a fun time.
Scotland's theme park. Good fun with the kids and there is plenty of parking. Lots of reasonable food options. Rides are old but the kids wont notice. Arcade too. Never seen it too busy to affect the experience
Kids had an amazing time and we were lucky with the weather. There is a good selection of attractions across different age groups too.
Great place for a day out during the summer holidays. The kids had a brilliant time. Ok, it's not Disneyland, a bit dated and there are no big rollercoasters, but there were no queues for any of the rides. The kids went on so many times they certainly got their money's worth. There is plenty of choice for food too. The park was clean. The staff at the rides and at the food outlets were all fab.
Overpriced but I enjoyed my visit to Amazonia. Took my grandson but at 2 1/2, he is too young to enjoy the experience. Amazonia is far too small to spend a lot of time in there.
Theme park is a travelling funfair that forgot to move to the next town. Your ticket covers the same rust covered rides plastered in legally distinct film characters and broken lights you see at every funfair. Everything else extra they can charge you for, they will. I'm sure if you have little ones, it'd be a fine and fun family day out with soft play, arcade and rides catered to them. We went as an adult group however, to enjoy the scare maze (which was good) so it didn't feel worth the entry cost.
This has to be a joke calling this “scotlands theme park” because this couldn’t be further from the truth! Two rides were off (which left about 7 rides ) various rides were not included in the wristband. Seen bigger rides at a pop up pikey fair which cost half the price. Staff should be wearing masks when taking money for wristbands as it’s daylight robbery. Safe to say I won’t be visiting this site again. If I could give it no stars I would.

Strathclyde Park is a great spot for outdoor fun, offering a wide range of watersports like speedboats, pedalos, and bumper boats. The walking and cycling routes are well-maintained, with options for all abilities. You can even stay overnight at the on-site Caravan and Motorhome Club campsite. The park hosts major events throughout the year, including rowing regattas, music festivals, triathlons, and firework displays, along with 5k and 10k races. Families will appreciate the children’s play area, modern washrooms, and accessible facilities. With its mix of activities, nature, and events, Strathclyde Park has something for everyone.
Lovely place ..I stay 5 mins from the park ..it has been kept very tidy ,thare are lots of water sports ,/I do not know what months they do but it would be nice day for family's ..I have some photos of the river Clyde which I have posted..fishing permits only for the clyde and the river Avon which is only a short walk
A beautiful spot to relax and exercise. Lively walking paths and cyclists are attentive. Seating is dotted around if you want to take in the view of the lake and its wildlife
Great place to walk. Mostly flat. 3 miles walk around the lake and takes roughly an hour
Strathclyde Country Park is a beautiful place for a day out with family or friends. The large loch is perfect for walks, cycling, and watersports, with plenty of space to relax and enjoy nature. There are great play areas for children, lovely picnic spots, and well-maintained paths that make it easy to explore. The scenery is peaceful, and it’s a great place to escape the busy town for fresh air and outdoor activities. A real gem in Motherwell!
Great park, big loch & 3 play parks lots of wildlife and a few ice cream vans
Great park. Several play parks for kids, one with a “beach” and 2 with a covered area in case of rain. It’s completely flat so excellent for walking with prams. The Waterside Cafe is open 7 days a week from 10am until 3:30pm. Food is delicious and the coffee is good. There’s also a Parkrun on Saturdays at 09:30.
We enjoyed our walk here with our dog, there is plenty of free parking, most of the paths around the pond are in reasonable condition, in parts the path is beginning to slip into the pond so some bits, the asphalt is buckled and lumpy, its easily passable but wheelchair user may have some difficulties There is also a play park for the kids, and loads of geese, ducks and swans, The ruins of the roman baths is a special place, its fascinating that after all this time u can walk around and in the baths, so its a must see for history buff, then put this place on your list We visited in early November on a Sunday afternoon and the park was pretty quiet I think if you want to walk all the way around the pond it is just under 5km, mostly flat with a few short inclines and steep bits, but they are only short and most of it is flat, so i think its an easy walk The park was clean and tidy, with plenty of benches to sit along the way to admire the beautiful views

We had an incredible time at Amazonia! The staff were exceptionally friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about the animals. The variety of species was amazing, from reptiles and birds to exotic mammals, each one more fascinating than the last. The animal handling sessions were worth extra pound which lasted for 15 to 20 minutes, offering a hands-on experience that was both fun and educational.
Smaller than I thought it would be but still fun and educational place for going out with kids. Inexpensive too. We were waiting with anticipation for feeding time only to see a member of staff walking into cage, throwing some food into bowl and left. 15 seconds total. Hands-on session on the other hand is worth paying extra few quids but would be much more satisfying if not overcrowded. Overall still worth to go.
Not far from where I live…. A quick getaway for a very personal touch (I mean touch!) you can actually touch and hold a real live snake or a turtle… kids will be happy with lots of rides to go around with, lots of junk food and sweet stuff also available. Spend a great time at Amazonia .? Oh yeah.👍🏼
Great day out for the kids, takes around 30 minutes to walk round. There is interactive bits, for a hands on experience. You can also take part in the handling sessions, these are great and only £1.50 per person! Lots of reptiles/birds. Staff were nice, talking to kid. Little gift shop at the end - reasonably priced.
Nice place to visit. It's indoor tropical rainforest, here is not so big but it's good.
Amazonia is a fantastic place to visit for families, kids, and anyone who loves wildlife. The indoor rainforest is full of colourful birds, reptiles, monkeys, and fascinating insects, making it both fun and educational. The enclosures are well cared for, and there are plenty of information boards and friendly staff happy to answer questions. It feels like stepping into a real rainforest, especially with the warm tropical atmosphere. A great day out that combines learning with adventure – definitely worth a visit!
Great place to bring the kids for a visit. Not the largest of places but good variety of animals. All look in great condition and birds in full plumage. Easy to see the animals and week laid out. Lots of little creepy Crawley's to freak the kids out with. With the entrance fee. Nice little shop at the end as well
The animals were interesting, but it's very small. Very poor value for money. We paid £28.10 for 2 adults and 2 children and saw everything in under 30 minutes. We also paid £6 for an animal experience at 3pm, but because we were done so quickly, we would have had to wait for over an hour before the experience started. When I asked for a refund of the £6, I was told they don't do that. When I said I wouldn't have paid for the animal experience if I'd known there was so little to see, the manager told me "well, it is a small exhibit" as if I should have known! All in all, an unpleasant experience - not recommended.

We are actually charging here at the moment, at a steady 48kW, and the review request has just come through! Have used this one before with our Chargeplace Scotland RFID card. Charger is easy to use and has been reliable so far. There's one rapid charger with CCS and Chademo and a further nine fast chargers, one of which is occupied. Nice spacious location, no facilities but shops nearby.
I only go to use the studio for a class. Seems a decent gym. It's nice and clean Really miss the pool and saunas though. Have started using the gym, and all is good. Lots of equipment to chose from, and most of the staff are really helpful 🙂
We had our 8 month old son and made the effort to drive out here as the hamilton baths shut for an hour. Had a positive first impression entering the building and even pointed out there was breastfeeding friendly stickers , positive quotes on the wall and outside the building there was a poster of someone swimming and a flume ride on another poster. Clearly says aquatec on the building in large bold letters. When we asked if we could go swimming the lady at reception said there was no pool and that there hadn't been one for 6 years. Made us feel like idiots and not being from the area we didn't know this. They should be encouraging healthy lifestyles for families, its not hard to pull down a poster.... Do better north lanarkshire council.
I think that they should remove the word Aqua from the name along with the pictures of a swimming pool and the phrase "family friendly " since there's no pool and nothing for kids
Just re-opened after a major refurb - great family fun - good parking - committed staff
Excellent gym facility and friendly staff. Changing facilities are good but frankly not clean enough. Often go in here in mornings and usually littered with empty bottles and tissues. As for the weekends, well no cleaner on duty, always filthy, especially the toilets. When I complained I was told that cleaners rota is to clean health suite before gym changing facility. Bizarre, as gym opens at 6 and heath suite a couple of hours later.
Horrible. It's ridiculous. 1. Lockers and changing rooms are ridiculous they are a mess and horrible 2. The let in time is so stupid. They let in loads of people around 30/40, then expects us to get out all all the the same time with only 4 Showers. And only let's you swim around 1 hour. 3. You have clearly advertised your pool making it seem like there is plenty of things to play with.; there is only a whirlpool and one slide. The children's area is even more ridiculous. Not even worth bring my cousins here. 4. The tiles really horrible. Swimming around in the whirlpool. The sand and grit that was gathered at the bottom is insane. I could not believe it. 5. The water was freezing. I understand to some degree. The water has to be at a certain tempeture. But even in the jacuzzi pool, the water was the same temperature. If not worse. 6. It is clear that there is not enough lifeguards on duty. As I'm skiing around. One lifeguard is trying to cover 3 areas. 7 Not to mention that the lockers don't even give you the money back and the changing rooms are a size of a small square box I seen this place get advertised, after its refurbishment, it looked amazing. But I will never be returning again. Extremely disappointed.
Not as brilliant as it could be for the swimming pool. 4 showers for everyone getting in and out and everyone wearing a certain colour band has to get out at the same time. This was not told to us by any of the staff as we entered and being our first visit we were unaware. Within the pool area there are water jets falling from the ceiling which hurt when hit you as you are swimming around and the water is the same temperature everywhere - in the outdoor section, indoor section and the Jacuzzi hot bath section. My daughters enjoyed the slide but my eldest (7) was not allowed to ride with an adult as she was tall enough to ride alone. There were dancing classes and other classes and amenities that I can not comment on but have been told are good.

Amazing facility, lucky for those that live close by. This is standard all sports facilities should aspire to.
I take my toddler to gymnastics here & find they offer so many different classes to lots of age ranges. There is lots of parking, lots of open space for kids to run about & a big park next to the building which is amazing for kids.
Absolutely fantastic facility. The football pitches inside are huge. Was here for a football tournament. Cafe offers some lovely food and I didn’t think the prices were bad at all. The indoor football pitches have seating aswell so great for the parents to have somewhere to sit.
What a place. Plenty of car parking. Cafe. Toilets everywhere. Easy access entrances. Lifts to upper levels. Very clean. Facilities for many sporting events.
The gym is huge with an excellent variety of new equipment. The sports halls are fantastic for football, badminton, or basketball, and the indoor climbing wall is a great challenge. The entire facility is always spotlessly clean and well-organized. It's a brilliant, welcoming place for athletes and casual gym-goers alike.
Took my 4 year old Granddaughter and she enjoyed herself - sadly the place is a midden now - people are leaving dog bags with poo in them instead of using bins - litter everywhere - big change since i took my other Grandkids for a treat - both of them enjoyed that visit and had already asked to go back - been back a few times since - but who ever is responsible for the cleaning the park has let it get into a unhealthy terrible state 😔😔
Massive complex. Lots of classes/activities for all ages and levels. General gym membership allows use of both a reasonably standard gym with all the normally expected equipment and a much lesser used power lifting/weightlifting area with multiple platforms and full racks. Changing rooms are decent. Football pitches are good with both indoor and outdoor spaces provided. Sports halls available for booking as well. Large modern (as of summer 2021) playpark right across the road. Huge, never full, car park as well.
Great place 1st time here and was easy access plenty of parking

Amazing. Wish I'd known about this place when my kids were younger. Took 2 x 9 years old today as seen it when passing..They loved the outdoor play area..a lot geared towards younger kids we thought but then we found loads that the girls could do. Stayed outside in the cold for nearly an hour. Great section indoor for younger kids and amazing displays and tower climb. I didn't know so many Olympians came from Motherwell. And they have crafts days so we'll be back. Loved the archives too..found out I have a famous ancestor..Abraham Lincoln no less..defo visit the archives and go into the computers..U might be surprised at what u find! ..oh and it all free
This museum introduces the history of the city which involves a lot of mining and steel production. We loved the activities for kids such as painting. From the top of the tower you have a great view over the town.
It's nice to place to visit with children although it needs at least new wall painting.
Visited to see an exhibition of the work of Oscar Marzaroli, Italian born photographer "adopted "by Glasgow. Exhibition was free of charge. The staff member present was friendly and helpful when required, but operated discreetly in the background so as not to impair your enjoyment of the exceptional photography being displayed.
Interesting place with loads of variety. Good views from the tower and loads of free parking next door.
One of the features at the centre used to include Technopolis where people were allowed to feel part of Lanarkshire's past, by re-creating scenes of eras including heavy industry and steel production. Domestic life of the area is re-created through various talking figures and interactive interpretation. However this part of the Heritage Centre was closed in 2011 and turned over to the storage of paper archives. There is also a gallery room, located at the ground floor, showing exhibitions provided by North Lanarkshire Council and also exhibitions outwith the local council area. Some international exhibitions are also on display there, and exhibitions are updated regularly. The local studies and family research room is where reference media such as PC's and Microfilm are based, that allow visitors to browse through local and personal records, usually to search for family ties or former occupations. Also, based within the heritage centre, is the viewing tower, located on the fifth floor of the building, giving an excellent view of the Clyde Valley region, the Campsie Fells, and of mountains from Tinto Hill to as far back as Ben Lomond, usually only viewable in sunny conditions. As well as those features, there is a gift shop that sells a range of books about local heritage, and also items typical of a museum/heritage centre gift shop (postcards, toys, sweets etc.). The centre is also wheelchair accessible, with lifts in operation inside the centre.
Great day doing Tie dye with Hugh. Very friendly and the place is clean, organised, very informative.

It's good to see an outdoor shopping centre, that still has a great range of shops , all open and trading, with easy parking, just a good place to spend a couple of hours browsing.
I liked it. It's full of everyday shops for everyday needs. There's even a big Primark store, Iceland, and Farmfoods shop. It's busy and well used, yes a bit dated, but for those who moan about it , I suggest you look at other town centre empty shopping centres (such as in Falkirk ) then you may realise how lucky you are.
It's a mall accessible directly from a carpark. There are an array of shops with some empty.
Great parking and near some good shops but the only thing is after 3 hrs ypu get a parking ticket. I met a friend for lunch then went shopping was 10 mins over and got a parking fine in my door 3 weeks later.
Easy access via car parking, bus station and the railway station. There is a decent variety of shops for all of your basic needs. I wouldn't recommend as a place to go to buy furniture or fancy clothes but all the everyday basics are catered for. The streets are clean and well kept.
all charity shops and Turkish barbers all big name shops are disappearing but it seems greggs is growing here got 4 locations of bakery's all within a 2 mins walking distance lol might aswell call it THE GREGGS HUB SHOPPING CENTRE
Used to be good but no longer as shoe shop has gone so no shoe shops in motherwell town centre
Motherwell Shopping Centre is a convenient and well-located retail hub offering a good mix of high-street brands, independent stores, and essential services. With popular shops like Primark, Boots, and Tesco, it caters to everyday shopping needs. The centre is clean, easily accessible, and has ample parking, making it a practical choice for quick errands or casual shopping. While it may lack some high-end options, its friendly atmosphere and variety of stores make it a reliable spot for locals. A solid choice for hassle-free shopping in Motherwell!

Motherwell Library is in the heart of Motherwell Town centre. If you love your books, then look no further. The staff are welcoming and friendly and the library offers a variety of activities for the public such as Bookbug for the little ones and craft activies for those looking to expand their talents. The library has recently been refurbished also as you can see from the photos attached. Motherwell Library is open as follows: Mon- 9-7 Tue- 9-5 Wed- 9-5 Thurs- 9-7 Fri- 9-5 Sat- 10-5
Such a beautiful, fun, creative, and incredibly stocked children’s section! My son shouted “WOAH, THIS IS SO COOL!” when we walked in.
A very nice place, a lot of books for children, youth and the elderly. For sure you can find a place to spend a nice time for children and for the older ones. A wide range, you can find not only books, but also movies on CDs and TV games on xbox or ps3, ps4 ... I recommend. 😀📖📗📘📙
The Motherwell Library is a huge place filled with books and I loved that upstairs there were computers that you could use and they have a lot of classes so you can learn how to use them. I do feel the toilets here need to be fixed p because it's very small and don't feel safe, especially with the locks never quite closing properly. The staff here are lovely and there's plenty of places to sit and relax while reading.
Motherwell Library is funded by the great Scottish American Billionaire Andrew Carnegi, like many others around the world. Nice spacious library with lots of books and facilities, especially for kids. It is a goto place in Motherwell and can spend some quality time. Staff are well trained and helpful.
Was here for the bus stop, not the library library. Nice bus stop, pretty close and accessible from shopping centre, train station, banks and cash machines, Aldi & ASDA within 6 minutes walk. Will add pictures when next I visit, especially of the library and the engraved writing that captures the beautiful history of the place being a former Roman highway. Edit: Picture now added.
Staff could not have been more helpful or pleasent when my 8yo joined this summer. I hope he stays as in love with books as he is just now. A great space, big airy & clean.
A really lovely library. It's really big and spacious. You can easily spend a few hours there. There is also a cafe and free wifi. It's open til 7pm on most nights as well so that's great too. A really great place to go if you're bored or the kids are bored.

A fantastic experience up in Motherwell. A friend and I visited for the first time and it was great. Very reasonable ticket prices, the food is some of the nicest and cheapest I've ever had, the people were friendly, no issues with car parking and very easy getting in and out.
Bring me my bow of burning gold! Bring me my arrows of desire! Bring me my spear! O clouds, unfold! Bring me my chariot of fire! I will not cease from mental fight, nor shall my sword sleep in my hand, till we have beaten all who come To Motherwell's green and pleasant Land.
Apart from th football was east to get parked close and entering the gates was easy. Had a couple of pies which were good and the wide stairs and plenty space in the seats in the away end.
A pretty good Stadium, only problem as an away Supporter you have to walk all the way round the ground to get to the away end.Im an older man so found it a little tough.Plus we were put on the upper tier it meant climbing several floors. For older supporters it was quite a hike. Why we were not housed in the lower tier im puzzled!. To compensate it all we achieved a great result in a 2-1 win👏😄⚽️🥅
Absolutely fantastic venue for any event. We had out belated wedding reception last night and everything was perfect. From the planning and booking to the staff on the night. You are all amazing thank you so much for a fabulous reception xx
Went to the Hibs v rangers final. We paid for hospitality, so was expecting a good day. I've never been to fir park before, so didn't know what to expect. Firstly the food and the service was really good. Made to feel welcome from the start. We went to our seats, and this is where it all went bad. I've been to a few stadiums and I've never been in seats so low....now I use a stick, so I couldn't even sit down, so when I did, I was so cramped I had to get help to get up again! We picked hospitality for comfort ..and got the opposite. Now on a positive note, which I will give 5 stars for were the hospitality staff. Amanda stepped in and got us seats down at the disabled area...best seats in the place! I cannot thank the staff enough..from the stewards to security and especially Amanda the hospitality manager. Overall a great day, made better by the staff. Thanks again 👍
Beautiful football stadium situated in Motherwell, North Lanarkshire, Scotland. This stadium with its surrounding forest makes it appealing. I noticed there was no traffic after the match between Aberdeen and Motherwell. I hate to compare, however the sausage roll I had is the best compared to Pittodrie, St. Mirren, Dundee and Heart stadium Edinburgh. While the Fir Park remain uncompleted, there is room for improvement. For example management need to put electronic scoreboard and train the ball boys to pick balls on time.
Our second visit to Fir Park, for a mid-week Game - unfortunately the weather was fairly bad, strong winds and rain. The away stand offered minimal shelter the closer to the pitch, bit it's no worse than other stadiums. The refreshments bar was minimally staffed but they were fairly quick. The food offered was the standard pre-cooked processed type - Hotdogs, pies, and drinks - was cash only on our till (luckily I take cash just in case). Fans were allowed out for a smoke this time, so a wee improvement on our last visit. Most c19 restrictions have been lifted, so no worries about Vaccination Passport or tests - The football wasn't the best, though with the weather it was understandable. 3/5 🖖

Went with my daughter to see local band MacFloyd paying tribute to PinkFloyds 50yr anniversary of the Dark side of the moon 🌚 album..what a fantastic night.. fantastic atmosphere and a packed venue.. can't wait to see them again.. I'm also looking to attend other events in the future
Had a great night at 80's Mania night , the only comment was it was all seated and the seats and rows are that close together you have more room on a Ryanair flight than you do sitting in here
I went to see the HODC production of 9 to 5, which I found to be excellent and on a par with a professional company. Apart from that, I found the theatre to be a good size and to have extremely good visibility, acoustics, and facilities. The bar is small but quite well stocked and sufficient for the size of the theatre, although my wife did remark that it was very busy at the interval.
I'd never been here before and wasn't sure where to get parked etc. Plenty of space at the venue with on street parking available nearby of the car park is full. The venue itself is decent enough, it looks like quite an old building but it is accessible for all. We went to see Dave Gorman, and it was an enjoyable night. The seats in the hall are not permanent and are standard council hall fayre. Not the most comfortable, but good enough for the type of show. I think the intermission was essential as sitting for two hours straight would not have been nice. There is a bar and a break out area, the bar prices were what I would call standard for the event. All in all, I wouldn't hesitate to come here again for another event.
Great venue. Acoustically spot on. Good views, comfortable seating, good value gig entry. Bit of a long strung out queuing system, but access seems to dictate!
Just a nice size of venue. Easy to get to. Bar queue a bit too long to get served. Staff easy going. Have a bit of a soft spot for the concert hall (or civic as it was known as back in the day) as I attended my first 12 hour rave here away back in 1990 😁
Went to see Jimmy Carr this evening and it was fantastic. The venue was great. Although minor setback was the chairs being uncomfortable but nothing that a walk about in the interval sorted. It's the only thing that I would change about the evening. But overall a fantastic venue to see Jimmy Carr for the first time.
