We parked on the harbour front (free) and walked the short distance to the colourful steps. These lead to a road that arcs around, ending at a restaurant and the lift, and steps, that take you to the castle entrance. I think admission was €4 but it may have been €2 each, not sure. The castle is an eighteenth century artillery fort that has great views over the port. Inside, each of the small rooms is an exhibition on the history of the fort, living conditions, local geology etc but all in Spanish only. You can access the roof where the cannons were situated and also a walkway down to presumably a lower battery position. The restaurant by the lift also has a panoramic terrace and is great for a coffee or dinner.
Way up is only a few minutes, great view from the top. Museum is interesting, entry is €2 for adults, kids are free. Unfortunately, all signs are in Spanish only.
Great small fortress. It is not a proper castle, as it is quite small. It is a small fortress located in an amazing place with incredible views of the city of Aguilas. It is a bit demanding to walk up the hill to the entrance (lift is out of service since 07 August 2024), so avoid the midday hours as the combination of sun, heat and climbing up can get you very sweaty. Ot is worthy the walk though. There is a restaurant close to the entrance, also with great views of the city
Doesn't worth a detour. Strengthenous hike uphill. Nice view, free parking at the harbor
Interesting place with a stunning view. The signs with information are in Spanish, but there are translation apps you can use for that, where you just hold the mobile camera over the text and it automatically translates it to your language. Anyways, the accessibility is above expectation, considering the fact that it is indeed an old castle situated high above the city. There is a rather spacious elevator which takes you up to the castle, but some places can only be reached by using narrow stairs. The man that was in the ticket shop on the day of our visit was super friendly and very helpful. Ticket price is 2 euros/adult, and kids are free. You can only pay in cash.
Nice maritime fortification with small displays here and there throughout. Lovely views over the town.Interesting story boards telling the history of the Castle but unfortunately as a non Spanish speaker I couldn't interpret them. The Castle is well worth taking the time to visit. If you have very limited mobility you need to get someone to drop you off by car beside the lift which will take you up to the Castle itself. I'm not sure what people such as a previous reviewer expect of a defensive Castle perched on a hilltop or cliff. It goes without saying that accessing such a structure will require prior planning if you have limited mobility. Here they have even provided a lift which is unusual and also helpful. I guess there's no pleasing some people. Nice views, interesting historical displays and plenty of information/storyboards. Were I Spanish I'd probably still be there reading them. Very nice indeed.
It’s a lovely relaxing place to visit with plenty of information about the castle and the history of the area, and wonderful views. We arrived about 8pm after a bracing walk up from the town. The light was lovely at this time. The entrance was free which is a rare pleasure!
Took the time and effort on a hot day to walk up to the castle and it was worth it, because the views were fantastic.

(Translated by Google) Fraile Island is an icon of Aguilas. A very beautiful rock to see, especially by sea. It is worth going around it by boat and enjoying the beautiful surroundings and stopping at the Yellow Beach and taking a dip. Although it is prohibited to enter the island, since they are discovering archaeological sites of ancient settlers. From the Roman period there have been amphorae, an Islamic necropolis and the remains of the house of a Scot who worked as a spy in the First World War and who lived at the end of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th century, controlling the mineral that was loaded into boats from the Hornillo iron pier, just opposite. Even so, it is easy to get to the shore of the island, swimming or almost walking from Yellow Beach, because it is nearby. Bathing in these views is priceless.
(Translated by Google) Great for diving, right in front of the yellow beach, it's called that because of the sand, it looks like a wild beach, too many boats, but if you go early, the best swim of the summer, I love it.
(Translated by Google) Beautiful location to relax. Was there in April 2023. It was still relatively empty. For holidaymakers, I always recommend visiting such locations during the week, as it is not so crowded there. There were enough parking spaces. Beach was relatively clean. You should take drinks or food with you as there is nothing to buy here. Very nice for photography and drones (IG noespera). Due to the clear water it is also suitable for snorkeling or SUP (Original) Wunderschöne Location zum Entspannen.
(Translated by Google) I liked it a lot, its water temperature, to get to this beach you enter through an urbanization, and you park next to a staircase that takes you down to the beach, it is not very big, but even so there are no crowds of people, and it is calm.
(Translated by Google) A place that will not leave you indifferent. It is a 6.2 hectare island located in front of the yellow beach of Águilas. A Roman enclave where many archaeological remains have been found, including vessels of the well-known "Garum", a fish sauce prepared with fermented fish viscera. I recommend it for snorkeling or coming from Hornillo beach by kayak. It is not known very well where it comes from; they say that there was a colony of monk seals there and perhaps it acquired that name because of that. Access is via a road that comes from the friar's residence. If you don't want to walk far to get to the yellow beach, you should get up early and look for parking nearby since it is a fairly busy beach. The place is crowded with boats and jet skis, perhaps that takes away a bit of its charm since they are quite annoying. The views from the access road itself are amazing, you have to be careful with it because there are many landslides due to its orography.

We stopped to have a look on our way back to Albox. Really lovely beach and a few restaurants, we noticed a hiking trail, so we are going to come back to hike, have a dip in the sea and then get some food.
A beautiful setting, nice clean bay. Great fossilised sand dune and caves.
Very beautiful spot, so calm and peaceful. We'll worth a visit.
Wonderful beach for those looking for calm waves, peaceful water and relaxing moments. There you can observe fishes through the water and relax a lot on warm waters. Toilets are not close and they are offered as chemical toilets next to the parking lot. It is mostly dirt and it smells a lot. An alternative is to stop by for lunch/snacking in one of the restaurants near by and use their toilet
Beautiful beaches and gentle sloping shallow sea spoilt by "freeloaders" - camper van tourists who park there illegally for weeks on end. There is an official van site nearby but they take advantage of the lack of policing, especially the private grounds and areas. A nature reserve it may be but freeloader human waste is not.
We found this by accident, It was intresting seeing the river meet the sea and was full of birds. Wouldn't make a special journey, unless you are looking for somewhere to take wildlife photos
Beautifull idilic place with some nice beach bars. It has some small cave houses which you can view right at the beach.
Even though it is full of caravans and mobile homes, It's still extremely beautiful and quiet in winter. The 4km walk is really special. Almería is really tolerant for wild camping. I understand that it brings in money to the region but perhaps the people could leave a tip or contribute somehow.

But it must be noted that the hiking routes in Cape Cope are very dangerous, we went from the promenade to do the circular route, there were closed paths and very dangerous areas that can cause serious accidents. Be careful if you go hiking in this place!!! Very kind workers genuinly interested in their work. Would recommend.
The shell display and fishing information were okay. However, I was extremely disappointed in the aquarium. The tanks were filthy and pretty empty, as well as half of the tanks not even having any water in them! there was algae so thick on the bottom of the tanks that it was peeling off in chunks. It would take around 5 minutes to walk around the aquarium and maybe another 10 around the fishing and shell room. I don't recommend it unless you are very interested in sea shells or fishing nets.
Nice free museum. All descriptions were Spanish, had to use translate. Would be nice if they added English descriptions.
Recommended! A small, well kept place that's free of charge
Brilliant free Fishing and Seashell museum. Very interesting would highly recommend
Small aquarium along side a fishing boat and mock up of an old fisherman's house. Well presented and informative. And best of all - free.
Absolutely lovely there really should charge people to go in there or even a donation box it's a small place but learn a lot and love the scenery on the boat :)

(Translated by Google) Hornillo Beach is an excellent choice for those seeking tranquility and natural beauty. It has a very picturesque setting, with views of the Fraile Islet, and a relaxed atmosphere. The sand is dark and medium-grained, and access to the water is easy. The sea is usually calm, ideal for a relaxing swim or for visiting with children. It has basic amenities such as showers and trash cans, and the walk there is very pleasant. Parking is reasonably accessible. During peak season, it can get crowded, but it remains a gem of a beach that's not overcrowded. Highly recommended for unwinding.

Beautiful beach, protected bay, clear water, clean sandy beach with plenty of free parking and two restaurants nearby. Lots of people go snorkeling so I think that there are some interesting sights or fish to look at. There are clean toilets but no other facilities like showers or lifeguards. It's a beautiful beach highly recommended.
Beautiful beach, but those are around also deserve to be visited!
Fabulous little beach. Get there before 10am to get a spot, it gets busy after that! Water is clear, and fish swim around you, waiting to be fed! 2 chiringuitos, kitchen open at 1:30. Thoroughly enjoyable day ❤️
Beautiful clear water and very calm swimming conditions. With the rock formations around. Unique experience
Best beach in the area! Lots of camper vans on the parking lot, at this time of the year at least.
It's a beautiful beach, good for snorkeling and walking around. However it can get really crowded
Great camping area. There are two eateries in season, and is very popular with the locals. If the sun is shining you can’t beat it. A nearby garage has all the facilities if you need them.
Been coming to this lovely beach cove for years, at first a snack bar but now there's a restaurant and a snack bar on the beach.

Church

This is the main Church in Aguilas, Murcia, Spain, and also the church where you'll find the Lady of Sorrows, patron Virgin of this community. After Mass, you can have a bite to eat or a frozen yogurt treat, or just sit around the Plaza and enjoy the sound of water from the fountain with the statue known as La Pava de la Balsa. It's right on Plaza España, so a lot happens right outside it's gates... Like the world renown Aguilas Carnival.
Right in the middle of Plaza de España. Old, elegant, and super peaceful. Built back in the 1800s—twin bell towers, clean neoclassical lines, and inside? Calm grey-and-white tones, big dome, lovely stained glass. Some really moving statues too. The Virgin of Sorrows—beautiful and survived the Civil War. A couple of others like Cristo de la Agonía and Jesús Nazareno that really stand out. And there's a small side chapel for the Sacred Heart—quiet, intimate. Good place to sit, breathe, and take it all in. Worth a stop if you're nearby.
Never been inside what with being agnostic. But it's truly a beautiful building in a gorgeous square full of good quality cafes and bars. Many a morning has been spent watching busy people rush by
A little oasis park ,full of white pigeons, wonderful fountain, lots of bars and cafes. Love spending time there.
Beautiful church indeed
(Translated by Google) A wonderful church in the city's central location. I'm a Lutheran, and I don't know anything about saints. Look at the church doors, what kind of traces of life are there. Look at the hallways, which give the impression that you are welcome. The front door has a humane, everyday-beautiful glass mosaic door that welcomes you - a person who needs rest and relaxation - to the church. Inside the church, it is shown how Jesus suffers and dies for you. Look when it, while dragging the cross, thinks about its own part and the evil of man. The texts in the side chapel seem to state - if I understood correctly - that the church is for you. Is it possible to welcome a parishioner in a nicer way? (Original) Ihana kirkko kaupungin keskeisellä paikalla. Mä oon luterilainen, enkä tiedä pyhimyksistä mitään. Katsokaa kirkon ovia, millaista elämisenjälkeä niissä on.

Lovely place to visit and friendly staff. Gives you some history of the town.
What can we say! We checked the opening times and it clearly stated it would be open on Friday to Sunday and shut on a Monday. During our weekend stay in Aguilas this museum was NOT on open the Friday to Monday and we were most disappointed, hence the 1 star. a lot of places to visit did not seem to be open at the weekend either. There was no waiting time because we couldnt get in as it was clearly bolted shut and closed all weekend!
It is small but well laid out has some interesting pieces and it is free..
