What a wonderful run family vineyard. It might be small but what an awesome place. We took the tour & had the platter with wine tasting. The youngest son did the tour in english as we don't speak enough Spanish. The location was beautiful and the family members were so welcoming. We will definitely recommend to friends. Thank you to everyone who made this a memorable occasion
Had a lovely experience here. Stopped off on a road trip from Colonia and glad we did - lovely chilled vibe and we lost all sense of time. The Blend was really good
Our most disappointing accommodation in Uruguay - disengaged staff and outrageously expensive. WHAT’S GOOD * Super comfortable bed and good size room. * Lots of friendly dogs around (some owned by the family, others come in from the street). * Amazing restaurant in Carmelo called Nido - sensational food, great prices and wonderful staff. WHAT’S NOT SO GOOD * Outrageously expensive (and more than twice the price our nights in Punta del Este, Montevideo and Buenos Aires) - very poor value for money. Breakfast was basic with supermarket bread (delivered to your room at 5pm the night before). * Staff were extremely disengaged. We asked what restaurants were open and they said they would bring a list to our room - this didn’t happen. We asked for toilet paper as it wasn’t replenished and it didn’t come (so my husband had to go and ask again). And both male and female staff walk past your windows and peer into the glass windows (from less than a metre away) - like a peeping Tom -not private or respectful. * Construction is on the site (diggers) and starts at 8am and goes all day (together with the mowing).
Fabulous boutique winery run by a classy and gracious family who welcome their guests like family! Incredible wine tasting experience where you can enjoy a few the best rated and highest quality wines of Uruguay. Don’t miss the opportunity to visit if you are in the region!
We went for our Anniversary and the experience was an 11 out of 10! The guys are incredible. Their philosophy is to feel at home and they make it beyond comfortable to relax in their wonderful countryside location, enjoy the beautiful food and wines that are now 👍👍👍. Delicious is an understatement. Go and enjoy...you won't regret it...one of the best stops ever!
Charming vineyard perfect for pairing great wine with a beautiful view, relaxing environment and ambience. Highly recommend spending some time here to unwind.
Wonderful winery with boutique unique wines and friendly staff. Worth a visit!!
What an amazing experience. Sebastian was an excellent host and teacher. They are open from 11-8 (ignore google’s hours). I am a Californian and this is some of the best red wine we have tasted. We encourage you to linger over your three glasses of syrah, tannat, and grand reserve of both aged in oak for 2+ years with a delicious tray of cheese, meat and toasted bread. If here in February, you can watch them process their luscious grapes and experience the New York Times reviewed bodega experience. Meeting Bernardo and his son Juan and learning about their family history was a highlight of our Uruguayan trip.

(Translated by Google) The hotel was a pleasant surprise, because the general view of Carmelo is not very pretty, except for the Rio da Prata waterfront. However, the apartment was huge, with a living room, kitchen and suite, all very spacious. Cable TV and air conditioning completed the accommodations in an area separate from the rooms and the main part of the hotel. Located in a green area, with a kind of mini zoo and a playground right in front, the hotel also has an outdoor and indoor pool, which are very pleasant. There is also a restaurant that serves good options. You can stay at the hotel all day, in short, for the convenience, tranquility and leisure for those who enjoy outdoor activities. It is sensational for children. It is also great for adults, as it has a games room and even a casino, but I had no interest in visiting this one, as it is not to my liking. The breakfast is also excellent!
(Translated by Google) Spacious and comfortable rooms, nice view, and an excellent place. Nice breakfast, and very good service. Dinner can be had a short distance away at the Hotel Casino, as well as using the open and closed pool. Very quiet and peaceful for a good rest. To improve, the bedspreads are already showing signs of wear and stains, which warrant replacement. (Translated by Google) The room is comfortable, quiet and spacious. The bathroom is quite good and comfortable. Good water pressure and very hot. The pool, which is in the hotel opposite, is good, although it could be better, because in winter if you get out of the water and go to the bathroom, it is cool and under the same roof. The bed is quite comfortable and a very good size, although due to personal taste, it is a little soft. There is a TV with HD cable and a small minibar, although good for a couple of drinks. The park in the background is beautiful even in the cold. Good access to the beach. Maybe the room is a little cold in winter and could be better heated.

This german bridge is one of the things you have to see when you visit Carmelo. It is plenty of stories and it has a beautiful view. I think it is more than 100 years old! It's very important to connect Carmelo with Conchillas and Colonia. Also, you need to pass through it if you want to go to Playa Seré (the Carmelo beach). So please walk through the bridge, stop in the middle, take a deep breath and enjoy the beautiful and peaceful place.
(Translated by Google) Very nice city, historic place, very quiet. Excellent accommodation. Highly recommended (Original) Muy linds Cuidad, lugar histórico, muy tranquilo. Excelente alojamiento. Muy recomendable
(Translated by Google) The truth is I didn't like Carmelo. We traveled from Colonia, by bus, to see it, it was a 3 hour trip (total), to spend 4 hours, we arrived at 1pm and returned at 5pm. And honestly, other than the bridge, the boulevard (300 meters), and walking... there is not much to do. THEY DON'T HAVE PUBLIC BATHROOMS PEOPLE... IT'S BAD. The only ones there are are in Playa Seré, but we were on our way, and it's about 40 blocks... We didn't get to the beach, but from what I see in all the photos they upload, the same thing is repeated: bridge, boulevard, the corporeal letters, some square, the arm of the river and where they stayed. there is nothing more than that. We went to the tourist information stand, we went on a Saturday, and he told us about a museum of a local artist, who carved wood, and we had to ring the bell at a hardware store to see the "museum", the truth is we didn't dare, and I see that no one did because there are no photos of it. In the end we traveled a lot to go to lunch, take some photos and spend time in a square so we could return. Very neglected how little it is for tourism, and honestly it is a town in the interior of BS As like Chivilcoy, old and abandoned. The other thing to visit are wineries... you can also do it from Colonia... I don't see anything unique that justifies going there. (Original) La verdad no me gusto Carmelo. NO TIENEN BAÑOS PUBLICOS GENTE...

The ruins of a XVIII century Jesuitic complex including a chapel, cementery, cloister, workshops, residences and even two lime kilns. The chapel is still standing and preserved, foundations for most of the complex are visible and described by information boards across the area. We visited during a National Holiday so we missed a small museum which contains artifacts and more detailed history about the place but it you are history buff, it's totally worth the trip.
A place filled with history- the remaimings of structures that saw part of the regional history, now convered with nature... and a place to take some great pictures, too, if you're into photography! If you're visiting Colonia, near Carmelo, it's a good idea to have a visit to this place. Shouldn't take longer than a hour to visit its two main places, but that depends entirely on you and how much time you want to spend here! Everything's free, no tickets or special permissions needed!
This was a facinating and well worth detour off 21 on our way back from Carmelo.
Never heard about jesuítics ruins in Uruguay, well preserved.
Well, if you are a big fan of history or desperate to see something historical in the area, then turn from the main road , drive carefully to avoid the potholes and then arrive to these ruins.
Scary place after midnight but lovely when the sun is up
Only stopped and looked at the main building. Didn't do the museum or a walk so can't judge them. Not much more to see than on the photos already posted.

Unfortunately, the chapel is falling apart and if it is not repaired soon, in a few years it will be nothing more than rubble. We were only able to access a small part of the chapel, because everything was in danger of collapsing. I would have liked to have seen this chapel a couple of years ago. Honestly, I don't recommend going with high expectations of what you can see, the place is falling apart and there is very little left to see. I recommend that the traveler who is on the return trip go because it is very good to know the history of the place the way the lady tells it to you.

(Translated by Google) Excellent experience with Isabella and Pedro!!! We had the opportunity to get to know this winery, with 60 years of experience, which with passion and effort produces quality wines, such as its surprising Albariño, which took us back to our Galician ancestors. I recommend not forgetting to visit them if you are visiting Carmelo. (Translated by Google) Small traditional winery with 4 generations behind it. Not many years ago they began to design high-end wines with the push of Pedro mainly from the land and Ana, his oenologist. (Of course also for the entire family involved). Its main production is intended for the production of table wines for domestic consumption. They have approximately 50 hectares planted. Regarding the visit, it really is excellent from the moment you step foot in the winery, their kindness, warmth and attention is so exceptional that they make the time fly and you really enjoy it. I found the wines very good and accomplished. Extra point for the blend of tannat 60% with Marcelan 40%. I give it 5 stars even though they haven't been dedicated to wine tourism that long and there are things to learn and improve. It is worth visiting if you pass through Carmelo. Thank you very much and we will return!!! Muchas gracias y volveremos!!!

(Translated by Google) Everything was impeccable from start to finish. The place is very cozy and special, with a beautiful view. It transports you back in time. The food is delicious, homemade, and made with love. The wines are also delicious, the Albariño, which we discovered there and fell in love with; an incredible variety. We later tried others, but that one was the one we didn't like the most. And last but not least, everyone who served us was absolutely lovely, with a genuine interest in ensuring we had a wonderful experience and constantly improving what they offer. We went for lunch and were invited to participate in a celebration for the feast of San Juan a few days later. That event was also spectacular; the place, transformed by the lights and the firemen, was even more special at night. The space where the wines are made was converted into a hall for the event, but everything took place among the barrels and tanks. I'd never experienced such a wonderful space before. Thank you to Isabella and her family for a unique experience.

Absolutely stunning, incredible art. Señor José showed us around, this is his life’s work. Entrance through the shop, you have toask inside the shop.
