Perfect view on Jelgava FROM above on a sunny day, a bench under glass roof, but don't expect anything special
Little museum consentrated on different aspects of history- history of St.Trinity church, History of Jelgava and more. Museum exhibits are interactive and they have thought about children aswell accessability. Tower has elevator to move up and down. You still have to open the door to get into exhibition room and use glass staircase to get to city viewing area just under the glass roof. This may be an issue for some people. On top floor you can enjoy Jelgava city views through glass roof. Interesting place to visit. Not too time consuming unless you go through absolutely everything. Then it can take hours. Lady in the ticket office while I visited was really friendly and helpful.
The crown jewel of the city. The tower has the best city views, the story of this important Latvian city, an excellent example of a romantic cafe (the best cafe ever for my very well travelled friend) with outstanding food and service, fun interactive galleries (try wedding clothes or period jewellery!), and paintings by Latvian artists.
Not much to see there! The digital expositions are just ok. The view of the city at the top is not any great as the metal structure and the glasses disturb the view. Pictures are not worth up there, as you can see in one of my pics. Just the outside view of the tower is interesting.
The Jelgava St. Trinity Church Tower is a charming historical site with a lot of character. Climbing to the top rewards you with fantastic panoramic views of Jelgava and the surrounding area. The tower is well-maintained, and the staff are friendly and helpful, sharing interesting details about the church’s history. It can be a bit crowded during peak hours, but the experience is worth it for both the views and the insight into local history. A lovely spot for visitors exploring Jelgava!
I didn't expect this place to be so interesting! There are only 4 floors of thd tower open but each floor has a room with something interesting to find out. There is a floor dedicated to the city history, the church and Jelgava fashion. The 9th floor is a cosy place made of glass where you can seat and enjoy the view of the city. The 8th floor is the restaurant. The entrance fee for adults is 2.50€. There is WC and the elevator. Do spend some time in each room: it's worth it, especially the fashion room. They show a short video about fashion changing through the years. Recommended for visiting 💯%
Beautifully renovated tower. On the top you can oversee the whole city through the glass roof. On some levels exhibitions. While on the level with clocks you will find great restaurant. During lunch hours you can try simple, but very interesting lunch offers. In the evenings you can have nice dinner. Tasty choices for vegetarians. Interior fabulous.
Nice view on the observation deck of the tower on the 9th floor. Only $1 euro per person to take elevator up. We took the stairs down to visit the gallery and had lunch on the 8th floor. Beautiful decor and relaxing atmosphere. The frog legs, snails & mussels were all yummy.

Beautiful downtown church with a blue and white exterior and a pink and blue heavily decorated interior. When I visited on a Friday, the church was completely open and free to look around.
Absolutely stunning church. The blue domes are beautiful from the outside, but the real magic is inside... 😍 full of rich colours, gold details, and peaceful energy.
Stunning orthodox church with a sad story. The church traces its history to 1710, when Peter the Great, Tsar of Russia, arranged the marriage of his niece Anna to Frederick William, Duke of Courland. The duke promised to build an Orthodox church in Jelgava (then known as Mitau), his capital, but his premature death prevented this. Anna wanted to get married in this church that was yet to be built.
Extremely beautiful temple - inside and outside! It's also nice that they let you take pictures inside, which I could not in others!!...
Next to the palace in Jelgava, one of the most beautiful places in this city

Another beautiful church with a great history.

Jelgava is a state city in central Latvia. It is located about 41 kilometres southwest of Riga. It is the largest town in the Semigallia region of Latvia. Jelgava was the capital of the united Duchy of Courland and Semigallia and was the administrative center of the Courland Governorate. Wikipedia.

An excellent Art and History museum, which in itself justifies making a day trip to Jelgava from Riga. It costs €4 to enter and that includes going up the tower. Although there are very few annotations in English, with some knowledge of history the exhibits speak for themselves. The part showing when Jelgava was the capital of the Duchy of Courland is fascinating, especially mention of its colony in Tobago.
It is one of the main museums in Jelgava, where you can see not only art, but also exhibits that help you understand the history of the city. The museum is large, so make sure you have at least 2 hours to spend there, unfortunately we had to walk very quickly because we went near closing time, but the museum was very interesting.
Gorgeous building with an even better interior. It has two floors, as the first one mainly focuses on the history of Jelgava, while the second has art exhibitions. I have to say, I was a bit disappointed because there little to no information in English on the first floor... I am really into history and I would've loved to learn more about the town. The art on the second floor truly blew me away, amazing paintings and beautiful exhibitions. Sadly, I couldn't visit the upper floors because they're closed in the winter (as are most things in Latvia...) but overall, I liked it, it was an enlightening experience.
Mainly info only in Latvian. You are always watched and you just step step out of a room, they switch off the lights immediately. So if you decide to return into the room - it is dark. It feels like they want you finish sooner.
Small well laid out museum. Went to see there the Oscars award for our Latvian movie. Had also event with Barocco time dances.
Very nice museum to get an overview of the history of the region and see some nice paintings. More displays in English would be appreciated.
History of Jelgava against the backdrop of centuries. Worth to mention this year Jelgava celebrates 760 years of jubilee.
We loved paintings of Ģederts Eliass, but everything else seemed a little dull because without reading a lot it wasn't possible to understand the context. Only arriving on the spot we learned that the tower is only open during summertime, it wasn't mentioned on the website.

Its called a Teahouse but there isn't any tea served, unfortunatelly. Beautiful walk in surrounding forest and you can see the old ruins too. Very nice!
It was a beautiful place a long time ago, but now everything is abandoned, overgrown and limited by a fence. Because of the very poor and provincial Jelgava county!
Nicely renovated Tea house with spot of Asian culture. Painted celling, wooden terrace. Park 25ha for walking with benches and magnificient nature.
The building it self is good, but the park could use a rework
place worth a visit! spectacular food and staff.

Villa Medem is a beautifully restored historical manor with an atmosphere that feels truly special. It’s one of those rare places with a quiet charm, perfect for memorable occasions like weddings and other celebrations. But beyond its elegance, it’s also one of Jelgava’s hidden treasures—many people don’t know about it, but it’s so worth discovering, especially for anyone visiting the city. The history and character of the place are remarkable, and the owners have done an incredible job of bringing its spirit back to life.
(Translated by Google) Villa Medem. This ancient suburban manor complex. The exterior facade of the building seems to resemble the original design of the architect Berlitz. The building volume was built in the classicist style, but the interior has not been preserved, because the building was badly damaged in the Second World War. In the park, the complex is separated from the manor, the current Uzvara Park, the former Dorothea Park with sculptures in the garden has disappeared. (Original) Villa Medem. Šis senais piepilsētas muižas komplekss. Ēkas ārējā fasāde šķietami atgādina arhitekta Berlica sākotnējo ieceri. Klasicisma stilā veidots būvapjoms, interjers gan nav saglabājies, jo ēka smagi cieta otrā pasaules karā. Parkā komplekss gan atdalīts no muižas, tagadējais Uzvaras parks, agrākais Dorotejas parks ar skulptūrām dārzā zudis.
(Translated by Google) I do not recommend anyone to cooperate with the owners of this place. Half a year ago, we arranged this place as a celebration place for our wedding. A photo shoot, a buffet and a banquet for 25 people were planned for the place. (The fee for renting the place is also taken for the time when the food is brought, decorated and cleaned, the rates differ.) The wedding team was involved and everything was thought out to the last detail, the program, decorations, food serving, respecting the peculiarities of the place. For example, 5 days before the wedding, we were told that due to covid, the guests would not be able to use the restrooms, and if necessary, would visit the public pay toilet located in Uzvara Park, outside the villa area. Also, that day we find out that there is not even a refrigerator in the villa, although when booking the place it was said that the kitchen is complete, because before covid they even offered catering from their side. When reserving a place and making an advance payment, nothing like that was mentioned, even though covid as husbands had existed for a long time and the hostess knew that a buffet and a banquet were planned. As we plan the wedding on time and carefully, a few days before the wedding we decided not to change the venue, we are looking for ice packs, etc. But the night before the wedding, the hostess announced that she had a positive covid test and in the morning the wedding team could not go to the place of celebration and refused to hold the wedding event in the villa. The balance was already paid, a large part of the inventory was also already in the villa. For your information: the owners live on the other side of the building in separate rooms, with a separate entrance and outdoor area. We reserve only one hall for the banquet and a separate outdoor area (entrance to the hall from our area, entrance to the living area from the owners' area). When we tried to talk to the hostess about a solution to the problem, she tried to clear the room of our belongings and not to go celebrate or sign a paper that you are aware that you are in the same room as someone infected with covid and that you are responsible for the health of all the guests and the wedding team. Thank you to the boat house at Pilssalas iela 2a (Jelgava) for organizing the celebration in its premises after learning about the situation a few hours before the wedding, as well as to the wedding team - caterers Istaba, decorator Laura, manager Harald and witnesses for being able to adapt to new conditions and save our most important day :-) (Original) Nevienam neiesaku sadarboties ar šīs vietas saimniekiem. Mēs rezervējam tikai vienu zāli banketam un atsevišķu āras teritoju (ieeja zālē no mūsu teritorijas, ieeja dzīvojamā zonā no saimnieku teritorijas).

Nice historical manor, lovely rooms, great host, great breakfast.
Very nice place. Exellent service, nice staff. Beds were a bit too soft for me. Otherwise everything Else was good. Very good breakfast.
Quiet and unique place with interesting history. It is pleasure to wander around the park and garden, there is a children's playground. Tasty and filling breakfast. The hostess showed the manor.
Stay there for couple of days and enjoyed a lot nature around and history. Super quiet clean and delicious. Staff was awesome, I can say unique experience, would like to come for retreat again and again. Highly recommend.
If you would like to feel like a Louis XVIII, King of France, visit this place. A lot of history and modern ambiance in same place. The history makes you feel majestic, the staff and owner super nice.
The home page states that working time is from 10AM, and tourist groups must reserve beforehand. Since 3 people is hardly a group, we just went there at mentioned time. No one was there. After call to phone number, somebody answered and sad that we must wait for 30 minutes. After 50 minutes of waiting nobody showed up. Maybe manor is nice. It seamed beautifull with some interesting attractions, but the attitude is below any reasonable expectations.
Beautiful place for an afternoon walk with family or romantic coffee. Owners really nicely guides through history of this place. Very interesting experience.
The host lady is super sweet, the hotel was clean, cozy. The area is quite, perfect for a getaway!

Excellent Lutheran Church with very theatrical and charismatic Bishop
Gothard Kettler chose Jelgava as his residence and granted it city rights, in 1573 he had a wooden church built for the city's Latvian Lutheran congregation. The new church was dedicated to St. Anna and its construction was supported by Duke Gotthard's wife, Princess Anna Kettler of Mecklenburg (1531–1602). 1619-1621 a stone tower was built next to the old wooden church. On the site of the old church, during the reign of Friedrich Kettler in 1638 - 1641, master builder Johann Kolhauer built a new stone church. The old stone tower was extended to 49 meters in 1649.
Nothing special. Not worth it.
