Loved walking on the ramparts, which go right around the town. A distance of about 7km. At a gentle pace it will take about an hour. To walk on some parts you need a good head for heights as there is a considerable sheer drop and absolutely no barrier (French attitude to Health & Safety!). Children or pets therefore need to be kept in check. There is another path away from the edge and a bit down, which is a safer bet.

It has been much better. We, pensioners, paid full price and could not take our usual promenade at the top of the ramparts because there were stages being built. There were wires and workmen everywhere! The Arsenal was locked. So we are very disappointed, when we bought our grandchildren in the past it was open, all areas.
