I visited Glencoe Mountain Resort yesterday and had a really enjoyable experience. We took the chairlift up to the top of the hill, took some photos, and soaked in the incredible views before heading back down. The scenery was stunning and well worth the visit. The chairlift was smooth and comfortable. While there’s no harness or buckle system, there is a safety bar that comes down in front of you. For adults and older children, it feels secure as long as you’re seated properly and using common sense. I wouldn’t recommend it for very young children without extra care, but for most people, it’s perfectly safe — just sit back and enjoy the ride. The staff were friendly, helpful, and welcoming, which added to the positive experience. If you’re thinking about visiting, I’d definitely recommend it for the views and atmosphere. Just make sure everyone stays seated properly and uses a bit of awareness — if you’re being sensible, you’ll have no issues at all. Overall, a great stop with breathtaking views and lovely staff.
We camped here for one night when waking the West Highland Way. Small area for tents was nice, breezy enough to be relatively midge-free, and had its own toilet and shower block which were not the cleanest but functional. The ground was quite hard, but had no problem securing the tent enough for one night. Views were phenomenal! Nice to have the cafe to use for charging phones and a hot meal too.
I want to commend the staff at Glencoe Mountain Chairlift for their patience and kindness. They were very attentive and tried their best to help my child get on the chairlift. Even when she refused, they remained calm, understanding, and respectful, making the experience as stress-free as possible. Their professionalism and empathy made a positive impression on us, and we truly appreciated their support. Thank you for going above and beyond! Thank you for your kindness,,,,, Hope this message gets to them ❤️
Stayed here in the campervan for one night, very reasonable honesty box on the site and the facilities were good 👍 lovely hot showers and a drying room if you needed it. We ate In the restaurant and the food was delicious and the staff really friendly and helpful they couldn’t have been nicer to us. The lift is good outstanding views, and the staff operating it are lovely and reassuring. The views here are unbelievable and was amazing waking up to them, we have been here before to visit but first time staying but won’t be our last ❤️
Staff are absolutely amazing, so kind and couldn't have been more helpful. We stayed during storm Amy and were so happy to have been staying there at the time. We felt safe and looked after. - Drying room wasn't working and they sorted it straight away. - The power went off but they had a generator. - There was a small landslide which they barricaded. - You can hire sleeping bags. Biggest thing they need though are HOOKS!!!! Not a hook in sight in the rooms or dining roo. to hang anything! Mattresses were not super comfy, some chairs and a wee table and bedside light would go a long way too! Special shout out to staff in the canteen who were super helpful and fun too!
We used the ski lift up the hill (mountain?) for the views and it was spectacular. Fun little hike to the top, was a bit challenging but very doable. Had a great cup of tea at the lodge. Would recommend this activity for the stunning views of Glen Coe.
We visited the Glencoe Mountain Centre for a bite to eat and a coffee as it's right by the Three Sisters and surrounding mountain ranges. It's absolutely stunning. Now many go looking for clear blue skies but let me tell you, the drama that came with the rapidly changing weather was just unbelievable! I managed to grab these shots in between the rain showers where little very brief windows of great light popped up so I'd jump out of the car and run a little into the scene and started shooting before the window of opportunity passed. I mean, you might guess that photography is my thing, so I used a pro grade full frame camera and very nice lens for these images but even with my mobile phone I couldn't fail to get some great shots. It's just so unbelievably dramatic, mysterious and immersive a place to shoot. Don't be put off by a few showers here and there. Only avoid if it says foggy conditions as you won't see anything. But any other time it's fair game up there. I'm planning to go back on my own and sleep in the car so I can be up at dawn and get an hour or so shooting in at Sunrise and golden hour. Then I'll head home by 8-9am for the long 8-9 hour drive home. But honestly...it will be worth it. Just do it! 😁👍 Coffee and cake was good at the Glencoe Mountain resort. Very alpine feeling and the staff were great. Very friendly.
Great location right along the west highland way. We stayed in one of the small hobbit huts. It was a much more economical choice in comparison to the other option at this part of the trail. The cafe was cute and had a good selection of both food and drinks. Was able to get tickets to ride the chairlift which offered incredible views. There is also another hike that takes about 45 minutes total that offers great views. Really the only negative is the way the huts are outfitted. I am still giving 5 stars because they were just as listed and it was exactly what I was expecting, but they are bare bones. You can rent sleeping bags, but not pillows or anything else. This night was the worst sleep i got my entire trip. I dont think it would be that hard to have the huts outfitted with some basic bedding and would go a long way in overall comfort level provided. I know alot of their business comes from true skiers, but then even they wouldn't need to plan to being their own bedding and such. Overall still worth it and very pleased with the other services offered.

The time we spent with Chris and Max doing the “Segway Tour” was absolutely the highlight of our stay here. Chris and Max are as friendly and kind, as they are attentive and careful as instructors and guides. We had the most incredible fun as a family, doing something new together, in the most beautiful settings around. Thank you Chris and Max for the awesome time! Cheers!
Chris was our instructor for our Segway tour. It was my first time and what a great calm human he was! He was clear and concise with instructions and gave us plenty of time to consolidate our newly formed skills. I would have no hesitation in recommending this tour based off how he ran it for us!
We rented E-Bikes and ended up doing a 15 mile ride. It was a great way to experience a lot of the sights in the area around Glencoe and Ballachulish. The young man (Max?) who got us started and and processed the return was super friendly and very helpful with the bikes and explaining which trails to take. One of our favorite activities on our two week trip though Scotland.
We had such a fantastic time at our archery lesson today! Chris was a wonderful host—friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience really fun and engaging. He went above and beyond by not only guiding us through archery with great tips and encouragement but also sharing his own midge protection gear (a true hero!) and giving us useful local insights about exploring Scotland. It really added a personal touch to the whole experience. Thank you, Chris, for a brilliant session!
The archery and Segway experience was fantastic! Our guide, Chris, made everyone feel at ease with clear instructions and a great sense of humor. Archery was fun and surprisingly addictive, thanks to Chris’s helpful tips. Riding the Segways was a blast—easy to learn and a unique way to explore the area. Overall, it was a memorable and enjoyable outing, made even better by Chris’s friendly guidance. Highly recommended!
We had an amazing Segway experience last Saturday we had the wonderful Max who was very patient and understanding of my aprehensions on my balance and motion sickness...because he was so lovely we absolutely smashed it and had so much fun...we would 100% do it over again and would hope to have the amazing, kind reassuring Max 😊😊
We had a group of four so the Segway adventure and it was a highlight of our trip to Scotland. Devon was an incredible instructor and helped us all feel comfortable before taking us around the estate grounds. He also made sure to stop us in picture perfect places to snap some shots. We didn’t know what to expect going into it, but it was far more fun and exciting than we could have imagined. Thank you for a great adventure.
We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon with Chris! He represents the property and the area extremely well, with Scottish pride! From Segway orientation, to a successful tour of the Woodlands grounds! While a slight bobble while turning too fast, going down hill, no worse for the experience! Got right back on and continued the adventure! Next, channeling our inner Hunger Games heroine, we tried archery. Most arrows from our quiver, made it to the targets. A few may have missed the mark! But Chris was never our target, nor did we harm him! Kudos to Chris for a great afternoon of activities and tips for our journey to Loch Lomond tomorrow 😊🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

From our first impressions arriving in the beautiful surrounds of The Rugged Coast We were met by smiles before we were even in the door that put our slightly apprehensive minds at ease! We were able to walk in but there is also the option. To book ahead online in advance. The lovely member of staff was professional, knowledgeable and so comforting (which helps alot as I do have anxiety). Safety briefs and we filled in the paperwork (on our own phones but they do have a tablet to use if you don't have your own device) Our guide already had the best idea of sizes for our wetsuits and shoes based on her experience. As someone who was almost 8 stone heavier last year (and not fit enough to try kayaking again at that point) there was no awkward discussion about sizes. Instead of how warm we would like to be using a winter style suit or summer style. It was a beautiful warm day in glencoe that day with a lovely breeze which picked up and dropped once we were on the water. We chose to kayak but there are a number of services offered here such as paddleboarding, kayaking and tandem kayaks and bikes to hire. Self guided or guided tours also avaliable. A gentle slope down to the water where you can launch from we were soon on the water. The kayaks were very sturdy and clean. We were given advice on how to see the islands and the history of the area which is really impressive including hosting a very old grave yard you can dock up and explore. We spent 2 glorious hours on the water facing differing water and wind conditions but all of which were fun and exhilarating. This has been my favourite day out in years and although I hadn't kayaked in a very long time I took to it like a duck to water again and this has truely enriched my sense of self, confidence and abilities on the water. Thank you so much Rugged Coast Glencoe. 5 STARS Highly recommend and cannot wait to visit again soon! Thanks so much for making my 35th birthday a magnificent day for myself and my husband x
Had such an excellent experience with Rugged Coast Glencoe! We had reservations for 1:00pm but ended up arriving much earlier. They were able to get us on the water immediately. The staff member assisting us was very friendly and informative. Kayaking to the islands was so much fun, and we got to see lots of wildlife. An unforgettable experience!
We had an absolutely amazing experience renting two kayaks and a paddleboard. We had so much fun exploring and were even able to paddle out to the nearby islands, which made the day unforgettable. The rental service was exceptional — the lady was incredibly kind, allowing us to keep the equipment a little longer by staying open later, and she even helped us bring the kayaks back into the store. Her friendliness and helpfulness made the whole experience even better. Truly a 5 out of 5 experience, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great day on the water.
We loved our experience paddle boarding! It was one of the highlights of our trip. Highly recommend! Keren was lovely and gave us some helpful tips.
A great tour by Shan, she was really friendly and professional, giving calm clear instructions, good chat, and lots of knowledge about the area and Scotland in general. We saw seals, and lots of beautiful scenery. Beautiful, Highly recommend!!
Absolutely flipping fantastic! Firstly the female member of staff (apologies for not catching her name!) was an absolute asset to Rugged Coast. She was super friendly, knowledgeable and her welcome was just fantastic. We rented two single person kayaks for 2 hours. The equipment was top notch and in great condition. There were seals and herons in the area which added to the fantastic location on the loch that the company is based on. Prices are really reasonable for what you experience! I would 100% recommend to anyone and wouldn’t hesitate to return again to them!
Fantastic experience! We rented a kayak and got lucky to see seals swimming around and jumping out of the water. Very kind and experienced staff. For a bonus, make sure to get some hand made souvenirs that are created by a local artist.
Really loved the whole experience, all the necessities were provided for! The people were really nice to accommodate for any requests we had if possible. I would recommend to anyone looking for kayak, paddleboard or bike hire around this area

Good place for some hiking with some amazing views. Climbed up Stob Dearg and Stob na Bròige. Can be some tricky hiking, some scrambling and loose footing.
Did a circular route starting on the cottage side, up to Stob na Doire and down through the valley. 10.5 km in 3h30 Was supposed to do do Stob Dearg and Stob Coire Altruim but I had a nasty fall on the way up and decided against it. Be very carefull in the wet, the path is very slippery.
It’s so beautiful. We went during the summers but it was drizzling. Between the mountains and the rains and the sun peaking in between- it made the drive absolutely worth. The beauty is really mesmerising. There is a parking problem. However, but if you were at the right time, you may find some place to park your car.. a definite visit if you are in Scotland
Awesome mountain view just by the road. There is lot of places where can park a car and take even small walk in this landscape.
Glencoe and Ballachulish are simply breathtaking. The scenery changes with every turn — towering mountains, peaceful lochs, and little cottages tucked beneath the hills. It’s one of those places that makes you slow down and just take it all in. The air feels crisp, the light shifts beautifully through the glen, and even on a misty day it’s full of atmosphere. There are lovely walking trails, friendly locals, and great spots for food nearby. A true Highlands treasure that stays with you long after you leave.
One of the most iconic mountains in Scotland deserves to be climbed. If you’re up for it, rent a guide and go up the front on the curved ridge route.. preferably in winter. Great views all around on a nice day.
Scotland's most photographed mountain reveals different personalities from every angle. Dawn painters flock to the River Coupall viewpoint for that iconic pyramidal reflection. Worth going nearby to take a glance and to walk around in the landscape.
Ballachulish is a picturesque village nestled at the foot of the Scottish Highlands, offering a tranquil base for exploring the dramatic landscapes of Glencoe and Loch Leven. The village is split into North and South Ballachulish, connected by a bridge over the loch's narrows. The area is steeped in history, notably the Appin Murder of 1752, with a memorial to James Stewart located in South Ballachulish. Outdoor enthusiasts will find ample opportunities for adventure, including hiking the Devil’s Staircase, exploring Glen Etive, or skiing at Glencoe Mountain Resort. The Ballachulish Peninsula offers scenic walks with views of Eilean Munde, a burial island with an old clan graveyard . For a taste of local art, the Ballachulish Gallery showcases works by talented artists, including glass sculptures and paintings of the local area . Accommodations like the Loch Leven Hotel and Ballachulish Hotel provide comfortable stays with stunning views . Whether you're seeking outdoor adventure or a peaceful retreat, Ballachulish offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and Highland charm.

The views at the Isles of Glencoe Hotel are difficult to beat! After over a week in Scotland, this was the perfect place to give our trip its final send off, with breathtaking scenery along the water with whisky in hand. The bar/restaurant was wonderful, both food and service. Manu, our waiter was very friendly and loved sharing his recommendations for future travel to his home country of Italy, but also loved getting advice from us for his future trip to America!
Lovely weekend in Glencoe & the Highlands staying @ Isles of Glencoe hotel & leisure. The location is absolutely stunning, And the staff are a credit to the hotel. Room was clean and spacious, with great views. Menu was limited in dishes for evening meal' and was ok but not Wow. And the bar prices seemed exceedingly steep 1x Pink Gin & lemonade was more expensive than a bottle pink Gin in tesco. ( Central London prices not what you would expect in Scotland) Hotel requires a bit of t.l.c to bring it up to a better standard for the room cost. But overall a lovely stay.
Beautiful Room and View, but Extremely Poor Service and Hospitality We spent two weeks traveling throughout Ireland and Scotland, and unfortunately, this hotel was the only disappointing experience of our entire trip. We stayed for one night prior to our flight home and booked a family room for three. Room & Facilities: The family room was clean, spacious, and offered a lovely view. However, several basic amenities were lacking. There were no washcloths available—at all—even upon request. Additionally, the room had no telephone, which is concerning for a family room and presents an issue should an emergency arise. Arrival Experience: There is no elevator on the property, and no staff member offered assistance with luggage. We were required to carry multiple bags through the dining area and up the stairs while restaurant staff observed but did not offer help. Although we are physically capable, this was surprising and not reflective of standard hospitality. Dining Experience: We had a dinner reservation for 6:00 pm. We arrived early for drinks, were seated promptly, and placed our full order immediately at 6:00. Despite this, our meals did not arrive until 7:00 pm. During this time, no one checked on our table, offered water, or asked if we needed anything. Multiple parties who arrived after us were served and completed their meals before ours—including one with a dog. The only reason someone approached our table was because a server (not the one assigned to us) saw me checking the time. When dessert was eventually offered, we declined, as we simply wanted the experience to end. It then took until 7:50 pm to receive the bill, and only after I requested it. Service Response: When I raised concerns and asked how the hotel planned to address the poor service, “Lucas,” the host, removed the 10% service charge but did so with clear reluctance. When I explained this did not feel sufficient given the circumstances, he removed the children’s meal but still offered no apology and gave the impression that we were being difficult for bringing the issue forward. We later spoke with someone at the front desk who was empathetic and kindly removed our drinks from the bill. This was appreciated, but it does not outweigh the overall experience. Overall: This was the only negative experience we had across two weeks in Ireland and Scotland. While the room and view were lovely, the lack of basic hospitality, poor service, and dismissive attitude from staff made our stay deeply disappointing. I would not recommend this hotel unless the view is the sole priority.
Fabulous place with excellent food and service. The people who handled our group meal were incredible! Manu, Jose, Dobroslava, Marcelo and Derek made sure we were all well taken care of and everything was served promptly and on time. Excellent staff and hotel - thank you!
Such a great stay! Beautiful property with things to do. Stunning scenery, location is great. Had some of the most excellent food we’ve had in Scotland at the restaurant. Great wait staff and fantastic service from Manu, Dobroslava, Caio, Derek & Bruna!
Superb location with incredible views of the surrounding mountains. A photographers dream. Great facilities throughout. Excellent meal in the restaurant and breakfast was great too. Our room was spacious and well presented and heaps of parking. My husbands favourite place on our UK trip.
For our third night in Scotland we had no plans as we were going for a leisurely ramble to see where we would end up. The only thing disappointing about this stay was that we only got to stay one night. I wish we had found this place sooner and been able to spend more time here. Check in was very easy, the front desk attendant was very informative about the hotel and the amenities. The room was spacious, clean and very well appointed. The bathroom has a HEATED TOWEL RACK!!!! Be still my beating heart! And we had doors that lead straight out to the lake shore. Dinner was definitely the best we’ve had on our trip. The dinning room we sat in was almost greenhouse-esque as all walls and ceiling were windows looking out over the lake. I had the chicken stroganoff the hubs had the beef shin and the portions were huge. We shouldn’t have eaten the whole meal as we were both stuffed like Thanksgiving turkeys about midway but we both did and weighed the pros and cons of blocking our bowls. Breakfast was also a huge upside to this hotel. Buffet yes, but it was the best buffet breakfast I’ve seen. I might be skewed though as it had potato cakes and roasted tomatoes which is my personal favorite combo. And our server for breakfast was the same lovely gentleman from the night before. He wouldn’t be able to pick me out of a police line up but I see you crazy shift flip guy! And I appreciate you!
The Lake View Hotel. Very comfy and clean rooms. We had an amazing dinner at the restaurant. Make sure to take a walk around the property. I’m sure every season is beautiful, since this is Scotland, but this time of year was something else.

Very nice walk! Great views! Bit of a climb, but nothing impossible. Lovely day hike!
The Devil’s Staircase is quite challenging, but definitely doable. Doing the whole route with 8 kg on your back really takes a toll on your knees by the end — but as you can see from the attached video, the views are absolutely breathtaking. Stunning mountains all around.
Devil's Staircase was made out as a massive challenge, but actually it wasn't as bad as it's expected! Great view while walking up and from the top.
I climbed up while completing the West Highland Way. It's nice climb with good views but it can be hard work at times as it zig-zags upwards. My advice would be to take plenty of stops to rest and enjoy the view as you're at the top soon enough.
It´s not that bad as it sounds. Wish someone told me that before. You can do it! And the reward at the top is just amazing!!
Not so steep. Great views from the top of the 'staircase'. The Mountain Dew got us through. Not a 5 star hike due to how crowded it got and the close proximity of the road.
Nice walk. Don't let the name of the devil's staircase put you off. It's a straight forward hike with great views.
Did not attempt the full hike but scenery was still great about 10 minutes walking into the route. Hiking route starts from side of the road

Ryan taught myself and a few other work colleagues. I have zero theory experience and he made it simple and easy to understand. He has a good sense if humour which takes the seriousness out of the course. The premises is clean and well kept. Has kitchen facilities and tea and coffee are provided. His staff are kind and friendly and easy to approach. All his equipment is in excellent condition and in date. Ryan is Definitely a person I would have as a trainer had I owned bakkafrost Scotland I would recommend highly. Thanks Ryan and his crew
I recently completed Advanced Powerboat course and assessment with iPowerboat, and the training was excellent to a very high standard. The instructors were professional, knowledgeable, and ensured everything was taught clearly and thoroughly. The facilities and equipment were top-notch, and the hands-on training was invaluable. Highly recommend to anyone looking for high-quality powerboat training. Also a very large range of courses to pick from, to suit your requirements.
I did my Yachtmaster theory here with Sean (and exam with Ryan) last week - It was a fantastic experience. Sean really took the time to make sure the whole class understood each concept before moving on, he's a great teacher! Every member of staff was lovely and the facilities/ location are second to none. Can't recommend iPowerboat enough :) Thank you!
I've just spent five days here. This is a first class facility. I've found all of my instructors to be thoroughly professional. The atmosphere has been relaxed and this has been beneficial to the learning process . I've undergone many training days in my years and this facility has to be one of the very best. Thanks to all at iPowerboats.
IPowerboat helped me to achieve powerboat level 2 certificate. The course lasted for 2 days involving theory and practical activities. Instructor Sean was very professional and knowledgeable! Thank you!
Just back after doing the small ships nav and radar course. Sean took our course and was brilliant. Very knowledgeable and if you were stuck took the time to try and explain to you. Would definitely go back and use ipowerboat again in the future.
I've done all my training here at ipowerboat, from first aid right through to advanced powerboat and yachtmaster theory, very professional and have a wealth of knowledge. Great atmosphere and very welcoming, many thanks to Ryan, Sean, Rob, laura and Kerry.
Done everything up to Advanced powerboat at this site and it is world class. Great learning environment, great instructors and courses, brilliant equipment and great facilities. 10/10 would recommend
