A definite must visit stop if you are in Espelette. For a free tour that we just spontaneously joined, we were pleasantly surprised by the length, depth and generosity of the tour from the pepper fields to the processing area and then finally to the degustation which was a 6 round tasting of espelette infused gelees, confits, rillete, hot sauce, chocolate and even an apertivo to wrap up. Great quality shop to get the items you enjoyed after :)
We were hoping to take the tour, but didn't see any information on it when we arrived. However, we were happy to shop at the store. They carry a wide selection of products with piment and/or cherries, which we wanted to get. The chocolate chip cookies with piment are dangerously good. It's definitely a great place to pick up souvenirs from Espelette.
Nice experience Super guide and explanations Yummy and spicy free tasting Recommanded at 💯
Excellent visit. Made to feel very welcome by the helpful staff. Well worth a visit!
A marvelous place and a great experience to further a person’s culinary journey. Come to enjoy a greater joy in this gorgeous region and its welcoming community
Great place!!! Worth visiting! Highly recommended. Nice owners and staff. Enjoyed every minute!
Excellent, very Interesting tour around the chilli farm alongside a good tasting with a staff member with excellent English.
Very popular/touristic place to visit. Tour is about 30 minutes where the production and processing of the pepper is explained. Finishes with a tasting.

The pros : good service from the staff available in the shop, big selection of chocolate under multiple formats, tasting available before you buy The cons : shop is very popular and can be full of tourists
If you are a chocolate freak this is the place to go and try out all the different varieties. A definite must.
It is a pity that I did not take a photo. The place is wonderful, a must seen if you pass in Espelette, they offer a small visit in their chocolate workshop (part of it for sure), and dégustation. Two specialities of this place: The chockate with piment (yes, it is spicy) is a wonderful accompaniment with coffee. The othe one is the orangette, the fine layer of dark chocolate cove the orangette, Don't miss this place 😋
Love their chocolate spread 😋 been eating it since I'm a child and still buying it here everytime I'm around!
Dont arrive after a coach... Sampling.... Town built on chilli business.
The chocolate cake is very good
Great tasting chocolate!

(Translated by Google) The explanations displayed and the short videos are very good and very clear, it's fun. On the other hand, the young woman leading the tour was frankly not very nice, super fast, we had the impression that she wanted to finish quickly... besides, no one dared to ask any questions... Surely on a bad day... Too bad for us... :(

They have a wide selection and I wanted to buy more, but my suitcase would have been too heavy. Everything is delicious. The chili peppers they use are AOP chili peppers. In addition to salt, they also have chili powder, a small jar of four jelly-like products, and mustard, which I used for sandwich sauces and cooking and disappeared in no time. I wish I could buy it in Japan. Without a lot of frills, you can get the allspice des Espelette here. Small shop at the end of the shopping mile.
I am a fan of Espelette pepper. I have visited Espelette for the last five years and bought 2x 250Gr each year. This year not being near the place I ordered my regular packs to be shipped. They were dated crop 2023 with expiry end of 2025. Six months from now. I have gracefully complained to them with no results. So Beware! VÉRIFIEZ LA DATE D’EXPIRATION DES PRODUITS QU’ILS VOUS ENVOIENT! Les miens étaient de 2023 expirant dans 6 mois. À 500 grammes. After this review I received a call from the owner, he was upset and said his Espelette powder is superior to others and if sealed properly can last way beyond the expiry date. No apology, no empathy with the client. I appreciated the call but not the customer service I expected.

(Translated by Google) Bipertegia is a boutique renowned for its Espelette pepper products, with a real reputation in the region and tempting specialties. You immediately sense the quality and that the store has established itself as a leading brand. However, the welcome experience can be uneven. When I visited in the morning, when the store was supposed to be open, the setup was still going on, and it wasn't possible to enter. The wait was a bit long and the pace seemed very relaxed, which contrasts with the brand's image as a flagship chili pepper store. This can be a bit frustrating when you come specifically to discover their products. That said, the products are clearly worth the effort, and once set up and organized, you'll definitely find plenty to leave with some wonderful specialties. Perhaps a more attentive and timely welcome would make the experience truly live up to the store's reputation.

(Translated by Google) Espelette (French: Espelette, Basque: Ezpeleta) is a town and commune in the French Basque Country (Iparralde), within the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department and the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of southwestern France. It lies in the heart of the historical territory of Labourd (Lapurdi), a short distance from towns such as Saint-Pée-sur-Nivelle, Cambo-les-Bains, and Ainhoa, and not far from the Spanish border. The history of Espelette dates back to the Middle Ages, when the area was part of a barony under the jurisdiction of the Viscounty of Labourd. During the 14th and 15th centuries, it consolidated itself as a rural village with market privileges. From the 16th century onward, the town achieved a degree of prosperity thanks to agriculture, livestock farming, and cross-border trade. In subsequent centuries, its development was moderate but continuous, maintaining its status as an important regional agricultural center. Espelette is also the birthplace of a significant figure in Church history: the Jesuit François d’Elizondo, better known as Father Armand David (1826–1900), a naturalist and missionary who discovered numerous species in China, including the giant panda. The town center retains a typically Basque character, with numerous traditional houses (etxeak) built of stone and wood, featuring whitewashed facades, red or green painted beams, wooden shutters, and gabled roofs. The streets are irregular and lead to squares where the main public buildings are located. Among the religious monuments, the Church of Saint-Étienne (Saint Stephen) stands out. Built between the 16th and 17th centuries, its Basque Baroque structure includes wooden galleries, a gilded Baroque altarpiece, and an adjacent cemetery with traditional disc-shaped gravestones (hilarriak). One of Espelette's most iconic landmarks is the Château des Barons d’Ezpeleta (Château of the Barons of Ezpeleta), whose current structure dates from the 17th century, although it stands on the site of an earlier fortress. The rectangular building with corner towers has been restored and now houses the town hall and an exhibition center dedicated to local history. Espelette is internationally renowned for its Espelette peppers (Piment d’Espelette), a variety of Capsicum annuum introduced in the 16th century and cultivated in the region ever since. This pepper, with its mild flavor and fruity aroma, is traditionally sun-dried on the facades of houses and used as an essential seasoning in Basque cuisine. The product has been protected with a Protected Designation of Origin (AOC) since 2000. Every autumn, the Fête du Piment (Pepper Festival) is celebrated, a large-scale event that brings together producers, artisans, and visitors to celebrate local gastronomy. The town maintains a strong Basque cultural identity, with the frequent use of Basque (Euskera), theatrical and musical performances in Basque, traditional sports competitions, and activities linked to its agricultural heritage. Espelette is part of the Communauté d’agglomération du Pays Basque and is included in several heritage routes in the Labourd region. With its well-preserved architecture, vibrant traditions, and natural setting among hills and valleys, Espelette is one of the most representative and visited rural towns in the French Basque Country.

The free tour begins at 11 a.m. and is very well organized: clear explanations on the cultivation, harvesting, and drying of the peppers, a walk through the fields, a glimpse of the pepper garlands hanging from the facades, and a visit to the greenhouses where you can observe the peppers being dried. The whole experience is educational, accessible to all, and allows you to appreciate the work that goes into each fruit. After this immersion, it's time for tastings. You'll discover several Espelette pepper products, beautifully presented and simply presented. The tour naturally ends with a visit to the store: nothing mandatory, but you should be clear-headed; it's designed to encourage purchase. It's logical; you've tasted something, you know what you're buying, and many leave with a few products tucked away. The experience is seamless, enjoyable, and well-oiled, and you can tell they've mastered both production and the showcase of their expertise. This is a far cry from a tourist-centric experience: here, the tour is clear, efficient, and allows you to truly discover the product in its natural setting. In short: an intelligent, informative, and delicious tour, well worth the detour if you're passing through Espelette.

I ordered perfumes on the website, but I haven't received any updates for a week, only confirmation of payment They are also not responding for emails and calls
I ordered a perfume online 3 weeks ago, and all I received was a payment confirmation, but no email confirmation of the order itself. After a week, I contacted them via the online contact form to check on my order, but received no response. After another week, I contacted them again. Still nothing. I reached out one last time over the course of this past week in hopes of hearing something, even if the only update was just that they had received my order and it was being worked on. Still nothing. As such, I had to call my bank to dispute the charge, since there has been no evidence that I will ever be receiving what I paid for. Very disappointed.
(Translated by Google) I bought a wonderful perfume locally that I love very much. Now I've run out of it and wanted to reorder it. Unfortunately, despite paying, I've been waiting for the fragrance for several weeks now. Emails can't be delivered. This is very annoying and doesn't seem reputable to me. I just want my wonderful perfume.

Congratulations and it's rare to emphasize it, finally a serious and honest seller who doesn't make his customer wait by ordering at the last minute in China because he doesn't have stock! By delivering to me in 24 working hours, it's professional and I appreciate this quality of service which will necessarily influence my loyalty. Selling is easy, but building customer loyalty is a real job. I also noted that you put a protective cardboard box over the opening so as not to accidentally cut it with a cutter! It's a detail, but it shows your seriousness. Cordialement,
