Beautiful church that is a must-stop on the Portuguese way. This church was built in the 19th century over older structures that predated it. The boat that brought the body of St-James was moored here (“The Pedron”) around the Roman altar you will find at the base of the church altar. The Roman altar refers to Neptune but has been recuperated as a Christian symbol inside the church. The city takes it’s name from that boat name (Padròn) and I guess peppers came in later. Lots of symbolism inside the church, very interesting. Notice the Holy Spirit representation on top of the altar (the famous triangle that was copied on the back of the American dollar), the crucifix with the purgatory representation at its base (very rare) and the Reconquista horseman slaying his enemies. Small but very interesting church. One of our favorites for symbolism. Pilgrims can stop here for a stamp.
You can see the stone where apparently the boat with St Jacobs body arrived from Palestina and was towed to
I was so happy and grateful to arrive at this beautiful and wondrous church. Such a significant place. The church holds the stone that held the boat of St. James. Great artwork and impressive architecture. The people here were so pleasant and helpful to me. Also they have a very nice sello/stamp. Thank you for your help.
Attended mass at 19:15 on the day we visited. A concert was planned for 20:00. The volunteers at the front of the church were extremely helpful and friendly so were some ladies who had come in for mass.
Beautiful but the rock was not out. It’s inside a cabinet now.
A visit to this church is an important part of the Camino to Compostela and the lady who runs the info table is superbly helpful. Beautiful pictures and statues of St. James including the Stone! There's daily Mass at 20.00.
The lady stamping passports was helpful and friendly

I love coming to this place, the gardens, the ambiance like frozen for the last 150 years... It's also sad knowing the story behind this incredible woman, so talented. Totally recommended. Note this is her house, don't expect a huge museum.
A little out of the way if you’re doing the Camino de Santiago, but I think it is worth it, especially if you have any interest in Galician/Galicia/poetry. Only 3€ to enter the house/museum, but the gardens are free to walk around (and the bathrooms are free to use). The bookstore section at the entrance of the museum is also very nice. I got a bilingual Spanish-Galician anthology of de Castro’s poetry.
Interesting Museum about the life and times of Galician poet and iconic figure here, Rosalia de Castro. This is the house where she died. The gardens are beautiful too especially the amazing trees. Could do with being maintained better.Although a bit out of town it's well worth a visit next to Train Station. For pilgrims there's a short-cut from here back onto the Camino if you cross the railway and walk parallel to it.
Fun to look at but you better speak Spanish. They have a stamp/seal!
Interesting museum of the poet and figure head for the development of Galician culture. Audio commentary available in English. It is the house de Castro lived in when she died.
Very well done with audio tour. Gorgeous garden with lots of information. Very relaxed. Easy parking nearby.
Interesting place to visit
Very interesting. A great woman.

Very grateful to have visited this place. In this corner full of magic, real natural gems are hiding and waiting to be discovered. These are the same ones that were enjoyed by our most beloved and popular writer, Rosalia de Castro, where she wrote numerous verses under the shade of a sequoia that bears her name. A space that is considered one of the oldest gardens in Spain, it is part of our Artistic Heritage, playing a major role in the abundant leisure and recreational activities found in the area of Padrón.
Wonderfull place to spend some time in all quietness
Beautiful location with lots of benches in the shade. It is free! A great place to stop during your camino
Peaceful garden , well maintained, lots of beautiful plants and trees
It's really nice for a walk, really enjoy the place
It's not very big and resembles more a small city park than a botanical garden, however it is very well kept and has some stunning centennial trees to admire.
Beautiful garden in the small city.
The huge sequoias are an attraction.

Arrived at 12.30 and immediately staff came to assist. Establishing that we’re English, she called an extremely friendly informative lady to help. An immense fascinating museum full of many books, paintings, drawings and photographs. Of particular interest was the video recording of the Nobel award. Spent an hour touring the museum and finally the rear garden.
(Translated by Google) We were surprised by the completeness of the museum. You'll see the writer's entire history. You can't take pictures, only in the Railway Museum, which is in the same building. Highly recommended.

(Translated by Google) The first thing I want to mention about the foundation is the humane treatment of the staff who were there, they were very attentive. The exhibition presents a highly concentrated sample of the life and work of the excellent writer. In the foundation we also find a device on the Railway Museum John Trulock, who was the grandfather of the Nobel Prize winner who was manager of the company that installed the first railway line in this community between Santiago de Compostela and Carril. Without a doubt a place that I recommend visiting 👍👍👍👍 (Original) Lo primero que quiero mencionar de la fundación es trato humano del personal que estaba allí, fueron muy atentos. (Translated by Google) Nothing interesting, not even the railway section that Renfe gave to Cela so he could use it instead of leaving it in the railway museums. I went because they gave me free admission to the Rosalía de Castro House Museum. It's impossible to park nearby. Access is on a dangerous road, which makes it even more difficult to visit. (Translated by Google) Very interesting. We really enjoyed visiting this museum. We had planned to visit only the Rosalía de Castro museum, but at the reception desk we were given invitations for Camilo J.C., and we loved it. It's a shame that we could only take pictures of one of the rooms, and none directly related to Camilo J.C.. I would have liked to share it with friends and family, and I'm sure it would have made them want to visit as well. The person at the reception desk was very pleasant and the exhibition was magnificent. (Original) Très intéressant. Wonderful, little park next to the river in this gem of a little town. The trees (sycamores?) had just been trimmed and I have never seen this process. The plaza has many shops, restaurants, services and the beautiful church. A very nice place for meeting, doing or just relaxing.
Perfect place to sit under the shade of the Sycamores and enjoy a nice stroll next to the river Sar.
Nice park, enough space for resting.
Very calm and pleasant near the stream with lots of shade.
Very nice. Sunday’s crowded with the flea market. Avoid it if you do not like crowds.
Small but nice park, really close to the padron market

(Translated by Google) The food is not bad, if you take into account that everything or almost everything is fried. The service, more of the same, serves it when it is ready. The atmosphere, in my opinion bad. And I say bad because when you are in any place, the cleanliness of this place is seen in the bathrooms. I went to the bathroom to check the comments posted on Google and in confidence and in a low voice I told Rocío, the owner of the place with Ricardo, her husband: -You have to go to the bathroom to clean-, "because there were remains of 'I don't specify nor is it necessary' in the cup of someone who had used the bathroom". For a good image of the place. To which she answered me loudly, laughing with those who were there: -And what the hell?, did they get out?- I smiled complicitly, paid what I had ordered and left. I will not go back again. Para boa imaxen do local.

(Translated by Google) My 8-year-old daughter's end-of-year field trip went from a dream to a nightmare. It happened on a rainy day, and they didn't do anything they agreed upon in these situations. The counselors' treatment was degrading. They insulted the children, calling them "sons of bitches," didn't let them change, forced them to jump off the zip line, and much more. We were denied the right to request a complaint form, and upon returning from the second trip, we saw with our own eyes how the children were treated. I don't understand how a place with such negative reviews, with so many criticisms, where a child even nearly drowned last year, is still open. The conditions on the Camino are very good. There are 30 places available for pilgrims. Accommodation is in double rooms. Payment is made as a donation (there is no set amount). As part of the donation, a communal dinner and breakfast are provided for pilgrims. There is a place to do laundry by hand and hang it to dry. Unfortunately, the nearest shop is in Padrón, so I recommend doing your shopping beforehand. However, there is a nice bar in Hebrón where you can grab something to eat.
What a place. I was recommended this monastery as it "will give you a sense of the true Camino experience". This was so true. You get a comfortable bed to sleep in, a hearty 3 course evening meal, and a simple and fulfilling breakfast in the morning - all for free; It is donate as you go. Also, the monastery staff gave us a personalized post card in the morning - what a lovely touch 💗 I loved my stay here, would recommend to everyone doing the Camino!
Amazing albergue with kind people running it. It was clean with great facilities and views. The food was great as well. A great place to relax before Santiago.
Me and my friends had an amazing time in this place. Everyone was so kind. A perfect stop before Santiago with a lot of history. Lots of blessings for all of you 🙏 Muchas Gracias
The best albergue on the portoguese camino, real camino experience with dinner and breakfast together, features a nice your of the monastery, lovely people. Don't be cheap with the donativo to let the people coming After you enjoy it too (:
We had a really good experience here, good food and stunning location. The only thing was that we were not aware that you had to ask for blankets and assumed there were none so we had a very cold night. I would suggest asking the pilgrims when they check in if they would like a blanket as many other albergues don’t have them :).

(Translated by Google) In Padrón (La Coruña) there is this monument to his most illustrious adopted son, the writer Camilo José Cela. Inaugurated in 2004 and located on the Paseo del Espolón in said town, it is the work of Manuel Ferreiro Badía and consists of a pedestal in the highest part of which is a seated statue of Don Camilo. As can be seen in the photo, the two stone spheres located in front of the pedestal cause a visual effect that inevitably evokes one of the firmest obsessions of the Nobel Prize-winning writer, with which it can be concluded that, to a certain extent, the monument has done justice. At an ancient junction of 7 paths, it's one of the oldest in all of Galicia !! Did Santiago's remains pass here on 25 July 813 on its way to Santiago? There are also 28 bishop's graves here too.
Beautiful church on way to Santiago.
(Translated by Google) In its origins it was a primitive temple built in the 1st century after Christ and destroyed by Almanzor in the year 999. In the 12th century it was rebuilt by Archbishop Gelmírez although in the 17th century it was rebuilt again by order of Archbishop Monroi. It has a rectangular nave and on the façade there is a doorway with pointed arches on columns. Until 1851 it was a collegiate church, although the concordat on that date suppressed it and reduced it to a parish. After a little history I want to say that on a personal level I consider it a magical place, I couldn't explain why, it is the second time I have visited it and I have to say that it transmits tranquility to me as well as curiosity, I imagine it will be because of his past and that always sparks my imagination. Without a doubt a place that I recommend visiting 👍👍👍👍 (Original) En sus orígenes fue un templo primitivo construido en el siglo I después de Cristo y destruido por Almanzor en el año 999. The tip is to visit it the day before, in the afternoon, because Xono is located right at the exit of the city and it is likely to be closed early in the morning, and Xono is the last city before Santiago de Compostela, so many people leave very early.
