Open-air museum with historical collection of armaments and history of the city of Naarden. A Dutch or English audio guide is provided and dogs are welcome if they are leashed. This bastion is also home to the Dutch Land Goats, which roam the area. For me it was a 2-hour experience. Afterwards, the city of Naarden itself can be explored. Well worth to visit the UNESCO heritage site of the best preserved bastion of the Netherlands.
To be honest, this is a rather boring museum. Entry is free with the museum card, but without it, I wouldn't recommend spending money on a visit. You can walk around the grounds and even try shooting a cannon (by pumping a plastic bottle with a pump—be careful not to get dirty), but there are hardly any interesting exhibits or stories. The indoor areas of the museum smell very damp. You get a sense of how people felt inside the fortress, but you won’t want to stay for long.
Very nice museum experience. It takes you back to war era. Beautiful city surrounded by water, greenery, tunnels and warfare history. Good walk, lush green gardens, small cafe with snacks and coffe available. The dutch and english tour audio is available. Pre booking of tickets is recommended and with museum card its covered. The long underground tunnels make you stunned!
I finally also visited the museum inside after having visited a few times the outside part of the museum. While I really like seeing the star shaped fortification which you can walk over, get a very good impression of how it was build and why, I thought that the level of the inside museums was a bit lower. Especially if you have to pay for the ticket. Nice is when you go on a day there is the cannon demonstration.
Very cool place. You tour under the citadel, in the tunnels, and walk above the top. Really nice view, and very interesting. Not super big so it doesn't take a lot of time. Should see it if you're in Naarden!
Interesting place to visit, both in and outside the fortress. Lots to learn about military defence in this low lying country. No videos, but interactive displays with wartime audio. Nice temporary exhibit of the Napoleonic era. Lots to be learned. Also good for a visit with children.
Beautiful and peaceful place. We really wanted to do the boat tour but there were no shipmates available on the day we went, which was unfortunate. They showed the history really well, and were more than happy to give us explanations. Great experience!
History the fort was built in 1795 after the Spanish sacked and burned the town and killed all the citizens in 1572. Walk the ramparts of the city walls.

Great place for kids to spend a day. We went on the Liberation Day and it was not too busy (max 15 minute wait for the coolest rides). There is a food stall with burgers, fried snacks and ice cream. Plenty of open space next to the beach to run, play games, or jump on trampolines.
It was amazing, we were there for the second time in the season, and this time in Sumer it has much more to do. We had kids from 6 months to 5 years, and they all had the perfect day. Riding the attractions, with shows for kids, inflatables and the beach to complete the day. We brought our own sandwiches for lunch. I can totally recommend for small kids.
Wide open space to run and play right on the coast. Plenty of activities so plan for a full day! Only snack bar food.
Super great place for kids) even I was exited) so nice with beach with many places for relax! My huge recommendation for everyone especially for family with kids and ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍
With the subscription, it's worth it. You can enjoy inside and outside playgrounds, as well as the beach. The theme park has a lot of fun for the whole family. After it's closed at 5 pm, you can still stay a lot longer for the less traffic that I like most. Plenty of parking, except the route to here that's a bit small.
Great place for families with young kids. It's fantastic for kids up to app. 10 years old. The attractions are real fun, and since the parc is is designed for smaller kids, they experience a great degree of freedom. The theater shows are really cute and the personell is super friendly. Food is reasonably priced, and there is plenty of picnic tables to consume your own lunch. We really enjoyed our day and plan to come back many more times! Ps. If you still remember the parc from the 90ies: the wonkey bikes are gone, but the parc changed for the better - a LOT!
Tip 1: Go early if you don’t want to wait in the traffic line as it gets crowded after 11-12. Tip 2 : Buy your tickets online for easy check in and 10% discount Tip 3 : There will be long queues for food and also in food they have lot of options for Fried items if you are health conscious then I would recommend carrying fruits 🍎 🍌 with you. Kids will love it, although some rides you have a waiting time for 20 mins aprox.
Oud Valkeveen is a delightful family amusement park nestled in the picturesque surroundings of Naarden, Netherlands. The park strikes a perfect balance between charm and excitement, offering a variety of attractions that cater to all age groups. The meticulously maintained green spaces and lakeside setting provide a serene backdrop, enhancing the overall experience. One of the standout features of Oud Valkeveen is its well-thought-out mix of rides and play areas. From thrilling roller coasters and water rides for the adrenaline seekers to gentle carousels and expansive playgrounds for the little ones, the park ensures that everyone finds something to enjoy. The indoor play zone is a fantastic addition, offering a safe and entertaining environment for kids even on rainy days. The park's emphasis on family-friendly fun extends to its facilities and services. The staff are consistently friendly and helpful, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere. Clean restrooms, numerous picnic areas, and conveniently located eateries with a variety of options make for a comfortable visit. The food, while not gourmet, is reasonably priced and decent, with plenty of choices for picky eaters. One minor drawback is that the park can get quite crowded during peak times, leading to longer wait times for popular attractions. However, the overall efficiency and organization help mitigate this issue to some extent. In summary, Oud Valkeveen is a charming, well-rounded amusement park that offers a memorable day out for families. Its combination of natural beauty, diverse attractions, and thoughtful amenities make it a top choice for both locals and tourists seeking wholesome entertainment.

We had so much fun doing the VR escape room. Explanation is great, Stephen takes the time to elaborate on all questions and makes sure the experience is optimal. We did the pyramid escape and had so much fun doing it. It was the first time but rest assured we will be back!
Their Expedition Bermuda escape has a lot of charm and good puzzles, it was a bit linear for our big group but still very enjoyable!
Bermuda triangle. Incredible nice looking room. Eye for detail and good story, puzzles were nice, but not that difficult. What I like is that there are multiple puzzles the team can work on in parallel.
It was one hell of a great experience. We took the illuminati room and was soooo much fun and actually nice to pick our brains. What was even better is the person working there. She was great and made it even better. Went there on Saturday 4th May afternoon (4pm ) - she would know us from the group who spoke 4 languages :)
It was awesome! Didn't know what to expect, but everything looked great, everything was clean, the owner was very helpful and friendly and the game was amazing. We did the VR Escape Room 'Medusa' with 4 people ( which I recommend, it's just very fun. We will come back very soon for The Dagger of Time!
Great escape room. Friendly people who manage it. Everything is available in English as well. The escape rooms are quite difficult we did both with only seconds to spare. They give hints to let you complete the room, but not to make it too easy.
Great experience, we came with a group who had no expectations to make it out in time, but we got just enough hints to make it out with second to spare. It was a lot of fun, can definitely recommend.
Great place! Amazing staff! Lots and lots of fun! I will definitely be back!

Amazing concert! The best organisation of the event! I am happy to have the opportunity to attend this concert.
Beautiful cathedral with a magnificently restored, 16th century wood-painted ceiling.
The church itself is ok. We took the turn up the scaffolding to look at the paintings on the ceiling. It was amazing. The guide was very knowledgeable. Worth the price
This is very well maintained church in Naarden. The architecture is simply magnificent. The structure is huge and has an imposing presence on the square. At the church entrance you also get pamplets in various languages at free of cost. These pamplets contains the detailed description of the objects and artefacts that are kept there. There is no entry fee and can be accessed by anyone. The church has been well maintained and preserved. The medieval irgans are definitely one of the main attractions. Definitely one can visit this place after a trip of the vesting museum.
It's rather unique experience to visit The 'Grand Church in Naarden Vesting. The ancient history of the Netherlands and specifically the province of North Holland can be seen in and around this landmark church dating back to the times when Charles V reigned this land. Many events, socially, historically and musically take places here the whole year around including the 'Mattäus Passion'.
A wonderful place to experience Matthew Passion each Easter season. A pleasant 30 minute walk from the train station, with excellent restaurants in the center of Naarden.
The great church of Naarden is special to me because years ago I attended the Mathews Passion. An event with royals and politicians and the most beautiful music ever written. So every now and then I undertake a small a pilgrimage to this 15th century church. This visit I was struck more than before by the paintings on the wooden vaults. I had not seen them in this splendor before. The light from the windows on this sunny day was perfect. The paintings were finished in 1518. They were re-discovered during the latest restoration. This is unique because much of the art in Dutch churches were destroyed during the reformation. In the middle of the church there are large mirrors that can help you to look at the drawings on the ceiling.
Nice church, playground behind and Commenius statue on the side. In the historical center of Naarden. We hope to return here soon.

Boat tours & lakeside walks in a marshy landscape home to wildlife like purple herons & otters.
Slide 1 of 8
The oldest nature reserve in the Netherlands. It's a group of lakes and ponds surrounded by grassland, forest and marsh. Mostly it's for the birds but there are viewpoints you can walk to. Signposted walks are available, short and long. The site and the visitor center provide lots of resources. The bar restaurant is nice with good views. Bring good shoes, especially if it's been raining. Free to enter. Free parking closes at dusk.
Very beautiful, peaceful and quiet. My kids love the play area. There is a long tunnel, swing set and an old boat for playing. They also have local wildlife to see.
A very nice natural territory to walk for a day and picnic. Around the big lake, there are many bird watching towers, roads for mountain bikes. Best thing about this place is it being very close to east side of Amsterdam, around 15 mins by car. Big walking round trip can take up to 20 something kilometers (can take a whole day), but you can walk as long as you want then get back to starting point following the same route. Beware of the sheeps around, they can be demanding :)
Very lovely scenery, and large amounts of birds. The walks and water are lovely. Very scenic, would recommend in winter as there are less people.
Beautiful and peaceful nature, many birds to see, nice combination of walking between forest and lakes. Dogs are not allowed 🚫
Such a beautiful place, my girls loved the playground area and picnic tables. We struggled to figure out which route to take though. A bit confusing!
Nice place with a terrace but not cyclist friendly. If you have no lock for your bike you will want to find another place to stop for a refill. Cake portions are not that big either.
Disappointing. I came here to do some hiking and expected to find several tracks but didn't find any. You can walk a loop track ("Rondje Naardermeer") around the lake (about 20km) but you hardly see the lake, which is separated from the track by bush. The signing is inadequate, as other reviews also stated, which is confusing; you will suddenly find yourself at the end of a dirt road with no signs. From there your have to continue along a paved road, sharing it with cars and bicycles, then continue over a bike path with the occasional option to walk through the adjacent fields past grazing cows. I eventually went back due to lack of signing and the fact that it was just boring; you never really get to see nature, you just walk around it. I would recommend doing it by bike; I feel it's much more tailored towards biking than hiking and I can imagine that would be more fun to do in this particular case.

A small and cozy museum. It is covered with museum card. In old times it had been city hall and wighing house. At one time during war, it was converted to big ovens so that army car easily bake bread. The old ovens are still worth watching. It contains a long history of weighing machines and tools. The building its self is marvel and worthy to watch. No rush. You can quickly go and watch. The staff is good and caring.
Small but nice! The staffs are very kind and helpful. They gave us a free tour and taught us many things. It’s great to know the European history of weight.
A very unusual object to have a museum about, but this small museum was really worth visiting. Yes, different types of scales and their history can actual be interesting. This small museum has a big collection showing the evolution of the scales and I have to say that a huge asset was the responsible person at the museum. A really nice man who could tell you about the interesting history of the place, the scales... Explain you things and tell anecdotes... This visit was worthwhile doing.
Very informative museum about the history of weight measures and scales, especially related to local history and trade. Additionally, very helpful and kind guides, who are also able to provide explanations in English
very interesting museums about measurements, the guides are very fun and welcoming, worth a visit

A boat tour advertised as a fortress tour. It's not really about the fortress though, you'd except information about the history of the town, battles, why the fortress was build. Important events like the massaracre of Naarden was mentioned once in a single sentence. Others were not discussed at all. So what do you hear about on the boat tour? Birds. Lots of information about birds. The thing is, I don't mind learning about birds but if the tour is advertised as a fortress boat tour you won't think it focuses so much on birds. I know everything about the kingfishers now along with all the birds our guide saw once upon a time. Also, we had a guide that said he would do the tour in English/German. He ended up doing the whole tour in Dutch while he was complaining to the one single Dutch couple how hard it is to do the tour in German and English. Except he didn't do that. He just said everything in Dutch. I speak Dutch so I could translate to my girlfriend but if I didn't it would just be a one hour boat tour with some sights, so tourists beware. All this depends on the guides but the older gentleman with a clear love for the birds was not the best tourguide I've had. All in all waste of time and money. In case the owner reads, it was the tour at 7th of August in the noon.

Former city hall of the fortress city of Naarden. Now mostly used for weddings. Built in 1601 and in mint condition. Open for visits upon appointment and on Open Monument Day in mid-September.
We have been to Naarden several times, and we always visited the town hall for it's lovely model of the town. As per my knowledge, they have recently opened a historic court room and mayor's office for public. This time we also got a wonderful story of the town's history from a local guide Ruud, which was a highlight of all our visits here!
A historic building is a must to visit! Rebuilt in 1601 after it was burned down during the inversion of Spain. The Spanish war that lasted for 80 years.
Beautiful building! We went inside to see the paintings
Nice place for the short visit.

A great museum with loads of interesting information and a variety of interactive features. It is also really accessible, with multiple languages and the possibility to sit while reading the exhibitions on the first floor. They also had an English guidebook for the second floor, with lots of extra context for the artwork. The mausoleum is also beautiful and even has a small booklet with information about the stained glass and other features. Overall extremely informative and enjoyable. They also accept museumkaart which is great.
Small but good. New decorations, clean and neat exhibits. A kids corner is very thoughtful. And nice staffs.
Interesting small museum about Comenius. Receptionists talk a bit loud so you hear them everywhere in the museum.
Really cool museum, small but so much information and nicely presentation.
Small but very warm feeling museum of a famous Czech schoolar Jan Amos Komensky.
Small but very entertaining museum. Lots of things to do for kids, nice exposition on Comenius life for elder kids and adults. Tomb in the beautiful chapel. Exceeded the expectations - really-really nice and heartwarming place. Keep on doing great job! English language materials available across the museum
Very nice exhibition about work and life of J. A. Komensky. Must visit for Czech travellers. Czech language fully supported - displays, titles, movie, staff. Exhibition of animals with knowledge quiz for kids.

A very beautiful combination of landscape and history. Don't miss the video available in tourist information office of the city. It briefly explains the history of waterline of Netherlands in 6-7 minutes. It lets you to better understand the relationship of Dutch with the water, how they use it for different purposes.
Great information on the area. You can even defend the city in a little historical computer game.
More museum than tourist information centre - I went in expecting to grab a leaflet and spent a good half hour there, including interactive exhibits and a very informative film about the New Dutch Waterline. English translations throughout
We felt ignored by the two ladies behind the desk. Didn’t even looked at us, continued chatting which each other. Not a very good first impression and representation of Naarden.
What a fantastic interactive tourist information….. a couple of fun games for the kids and a film and informative display for everyone…. In English too!

Jan des Bouvrie sr made it one of the unique interior design stores in the world and not only because of it’s unique location: the heart of the historic fortress town of Naarden Vesting. Now that his wife and son are in charge the legacy and style has been kept and continued!
This place is located in Naarden right near the entrance to the city. This is a part of an old and a historical building of the fort. This place has been converted into a shopping arena with branded clothing stores and interior designing stores. This place also has a few restaurants and is very well maintained and decorated. This is also one of the places in Naarden where you have toilets for use.
Formal dining with e decent setting and excellent location. The staff were friendly, and the atmosphere was warm and relaxed. The menu is small and priced according to the setting. There are cheaper restaurants that offer similar quality meals close by, but without the formal setting. The cocktails are small, but tasty, and the beer selections is similarly small, but delicious. I found the dessert dissappointing, but we'll presented. I would recommend this place for a special occasion, because of the setting and the different meals. I believe you will come away underwhelmed with the menu, but happy with the occasion and setting. The art gallery was closed and dark when I was there in the evening, which is a pity as it could be a nice way to end off the evening.
What a great place with real fine art!!! WoW! Sweet people there surrounded by uncompareable unique art! Im in love with everything there even prices look expensive.
A very nice place to spend some time and look for inspiration to decorate your home.

Neat and Nice train station - and village-in the vincinity of Amstrrdam
I use this station quite a lot. Beautiful architecture and the station is more and more integrated with the nearby area due to the new construction. One side directly some bars and restaurants. Other side an action store and villa area. Some buses depart sometimes for onwards connection but the area is not well known for good public transportation. Walking distance to "het Naardermeer" nature area for walking or biking. Easy access to Amsterdam, Schiphol, Almere and my favorite city of Utrecht. Feels relatively safe station, compared to other stations. Downside is there is no 10 minute service, so sometimes you have to wait a bit for the train. Shops in the station are often closed even at normal daytime (afternoon) times. You can walk to Bussum city center in 5-10 minutes. Naarden city center (the old town) is a bit further away by foot, around 20 minutes.
Nice clean station, no check out gate so don't forget to check out by tapping on the chipcart-receiver just after go out from the train (it is near the stair). Wide parking + pick up site too.
Art Deco style railway station. (1926). Straight lines and warm colors.
At a beautiful city naarden is the naarden bussum train station. The station is really very beautiful with all necessary facilities and ample space to park your vehicle.
Little but beautiful train station of Bussun and Naarden. Very clean and it has it all what you need, even a small AH. The Art Deco railway station style is making it special.
What a great new Station South side entrance..a few things still to check and fix but in general a very nice renovation alteration from train travelling in het Gooi.
