Perfect place for walk and surfing! It is prohibited to swim here because of strong reverse current!
Strandhill Beach is an amazing destination that truly has something for everyone, making it perfect for either a weekend getaway or a longer holiday. Its dramatic beauty and lively atmosphere are a huge draw, and it's surrounded by fantastic amenities that make any trip here memorable. The accommodation options are excellent, with several B&Bs offering stunning ocean views just a stone's throw from the beach. For those who prefer a more outdoorsy experience, there's also a tent park and other accommodation options all within easy walking distance. You'll never be far from the sound of the waves. The beach itself is a hub of activity. For adventure seekers, there are several surfing schools where you can take a single lesson or sign up for a camp to really hone your skills. The waves here are fantastic for all levels. If you're looking for something more relaxing, the Voya Seaweed Baths are a truly unique and luxurious experience, and you can even join an outdoor yoga session with the sound of the ocean as your soundtrack. For golf enthusiasts, the local golf club is just a 10-minute walk away. Foodies will be spoiled for choice with a great variety of food options right by the beach, from local cafes to lively pubs. And no visit to Strandhill is complete without staying for the sunset. The sunsets here are absolutely stunning, painting the sky with incredible colors over the Atlantic. It's a truly magical way to end the day. Whether you're looking for adventure, relaxation, or just a beautiful place to unwind, Strandhill Beach delivers on all fronts. It’s a wonderful place that we love to visit again and again.
Strandhill Beach is absolutely beautiful — a long stretch of golden sand framed by the Atlantic waves and rolling dunes. The ocean breeze, sound of the surf, and views of Knocknarea in the distance make it a perfect spot for a peaceful walk or to simply clear your mind. It’s especially lovely after breakfast at one of the nearby cafés. Even on windy days, the energy of the place is refreshing and the scenery is breathtaking. A must-visit on the Wild Atlantic Way, one of Sligo’s true gems.
Nice beach for walks, sadly couldn’t go up the mountain due to dune works. Public toilet available but you need to be brave to use them.. bus stop just 5 minutes away
I love this beach! It's beautiful. Plenty of parking along the beach front or drive just behind the shops to the carpark and pay €2 which is brilliant. There is plenty to see, eat, drink here!
Clean and long sandy beach. Very busy when we visited. There are 2 portable toilets at the bottom of the carpark near the beach. There is a car park on the left side of the road when heading to the beach about 15minutes walk to the beach (with vehicle height restriction barrier)and another one near the beach side which are both free. There are coffee shops, bar and quite few surfing rental business.
Beautiful Beach and place for food and shops. Parking can be tough but there is plenty of parking areas. Evening time has plenty of space to park. For food or Icecream/sweets I'd recommend Mammy Johnston's and the Strand Bar.
Beautiful scenery around. Amazing ocean view. Very clean coastal side.

Really enjoyable and fantastic experience at Voya for seaweed bath! We booked the ocean view room for 2 and this room does not disappoint! Views are stunning with access to private balcony! Staff are extremely helpful when booking and explaining all details! Highly enjoyable experience and would also make a great gift!!
An Unforgettable Escape: Pure Bliss at Voya Seaweed Baths! From the moment we stepped into Voya Seaweed Baths, we knew we were in for a truly special experience, and it absolutely delivered! Our visit was nothing short of 2+ hours of pure, unadulterated bliss. We had the immense pleasure of indulging in a wonderful seaweed bath in the exquisite Atlantic Seaview Suite. This twin room offered breathtaking panoramic views of the vast, calming ocean, creating an immediate sense of tranquility. Submerging myself in the warm, mineral-rich seaweed was an incredibly unique and deeply relaxing experience – my skin feels amazing. Following the bath, I was treated to a massage by Megan, who is, without a doubt, a phenomenal massage therapist. Her expert touch melted away every last bit of tension, leaving me feeling completely renewed and profoundly serene. The journey of relaxation continued in the inviting relaxation room. It was everything one could wish for: warm, cozy, and adorned with the same stunning ocean views. The soft glow of scented candles, the luxurious feel of fluffy robes (available in multiple sizes!), the sparkling cleanliness of the space, and the perfectly curated spa music all contributed to an ambiance of ultimate peace. Voya Seaweed Baths truly offers a sanctuary for the senses. Every detail is meticulously crafted to ensure a deeply restorative and unforgettable experience. We left feeling pampered, rejuvenated, and already dreaming of our next visit to Ireland. This will be on the itinerary. Highly, highly recommend!
A visit to VOYA Seaweed Baths is a truly special and unique spa experience that perfectly captures the spirit of Strandhill. It's a place where you can unwind and indulge in a luxurious yet affordable treatment that feels deeply connected to the local environment. The main event, of course, is the seaweed bath, which uses locally and hand-cut fresh seaweed. There are several options available, and we highly recommend booking the twin room with the Atlantic Ocean view. It's an absolutely stunning setting—there's nothing quite like lying in a warm seaweed bath, looking out at the ocean and the sky through the window, with a gentle breeze coming through. This option also gives you access to a quiet relaxation room where you can unwind with the same incredible view. Regardless of the room you choose, each one is a private sanctuary equipped with its own small shower and steam room. The staff recommends a few minutes in the steam room before your bath to open your pores and maximize the therapeutic effects of the seaweed. Beyond the baths, VOYA offers a variety of other treatments, including massage and reflexology, all delivered by a well-trained, attentive, and polite staff. The whole experience feels incredibly professional and relaxing from start to finish. You can also purchase their own range of seaweed-based cosmetics, which are a great way to take a piece of the experience home with you. VOYA Seaweed Baths is more than just a spa; it's a place of tranquility and rejuvenation that feels luxurious without being pretentious. It's a place we are already looking forward to returning to.
Seaweed baths are simultaneously relaxing & enlivening & I love them. I’ve been to Voya numerous times over the years & intend to go again whenever I’m in the west. The Baths are set back from Strandhill’s beautiful beach. The staff are warm & friendly & the rooms are clean & unfussily functional. You leave feeling great. 3 quibbles. The steam in the mini sauna beside the bath automatically cuts out halfway thru your 50-min session unless you remember to ask to have it reset & the person you ask remembers to do it. The shower in the mini sauna doesn’t have an ice-cold option. (Why?!) And the seaweed-derived products on sale are insanely expensive. But still: just having a seaweed bath is such a pleasurable experience. 🙂
The experience was just okay. Change rooms with robes and lockers are reserved for only the customers having treatments. If you do only the seaweed bath, you will have to change back into your clothes in the small, hot, steamy room that you did the bath in. Nearly impossible to don clothes while sweating from the hot bath and in a hot steamy room. Front desk staff were unpleasant when asked about why we couldn’t use the change room. The seaweed bath itself was fine but unimpressive.
Had a fabulous time at Voya seaweed baths. I got it for my friend as a birthday present while on holidays. Staff were very friendly and went that extra mile to give us nosecco as they knew it was for a birthday. We had the seaweed infused mud bath in the sea view room, it was just amazing. Would definitely go back and 100% recommend.
Highly recommend the seaweed baths and seaweed facial. The seaweed baths especially with a friend or partner are a unique experience and leaves your skin very soft and your mind relaxed! So nice to be walk straight out to the view of the beach when it’s finished.
Voya is probably my favourite place in Ireland! Seriously! Once you step into their bathhouse, you immediately get sucked into this cosy, relaxing and fantastic-smelling cocoon. Your journey of restoration and relaxation starts way before your treatment. All the girls are super nice, welcoming and helpful. I've recently had my favourite treatment (Deluxe Facial experience) with Jessica. It's an an absolute delight. Jessica is amazing! Super lovely, caring, professional and really knowledgeable, so you not only get your treatment, but also a mini consultation. I'm going to come back a hundred times and I'd highly recommend.

Couldn't have been more helpful. Organised transport and booked a table for our group at a local bar too. Great instruction for all levels, good price, highly recommend.
We did a stand up paddle class with our college last year. Incredible experience, great instruction, really fun.
Friendliness surfing experience you could ask for - and very forgiving for the newbies, while plenty of challenge for others.
If you are looking for fun and an energetic day this is the place to come.

Fantastic location. Short walk to beach and not far from town for coffee, ice cream etc. Friendly service also. Don’t forget to visit the cafe too - great food.
Sligo Airport is probably my favourite airport to visit at this point. The staff are always super friendly and it is really well located. Sligo Town is less than a 20 minute walk with a picturesque walk back along the beach. If you are there on a sunny day and have the time, the longer loop takes you around the airport along the Killaspugbrone loop. Be warned the second part of that is long that it looks. The cafe is getting refurbished. Currently there is a popup cafe open everyday, with sandwiches, croissants, coffee and other drinks. It is rare to get simple food like this in an airport. Even rarer for it to be affordable. Long may it last.
Beautiful place, nice restaurant inside, nice walk near the airport
Sligo air show is a great event for the whole family. Very good organization of the show. A high class of pilot skills among pilots who performed complex figures in the sky. Many thanks for today to everyone who organized this show.
Is this the most beautiful Airfield in Europe?
Very scenic airport. Great airport, close to the great spots and nearby to city.

I had an amazing time learning to surf here! Each session was not only fun but also packed with valuable tips and guidance from the dedicated instructors. They created a welcoming and supportive environment, making it easy to feel at ease even as a beginner. Plus, the school has everything you need to feel comfortable — spotless changing rooms, warm showers, and plenty of space to relax. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to dive into surfing
We had an excellent experience surfing this morning, guided by our instructor, Lorcan. Our group was mostly beginners, and he was very patient and encouraging throughout. He provided thorough yet concise instructions on shore, and allowed us time to practice before hitting the water. He also gave us tips in the water. The whole experience was a lot of fun. It was a great way to enjoy a beautiful day. Additionally, the facilities were very clean. Thanks for a great experience.
I had the best surf lesson with lovely instructors and team at Sligo Surf experience. Everyone was very experienced and encouraging in the water and had really good tips for popping up. I even managed to catch a few waves during the session. The surf was absolutely pumping in strandhill and it was so nice to have clean and brand new changing facilities with hot showers afterwards. Highly recommend ! I will be back for another lesson thanks :)
I highly recommend Sligo surf experience. My 9yo son just finished the 5 day Ocean Warrior and it was the highlight of his summer. Seamus and all the instructors were brilliant and he learned loads in a fun, safe environment. The surf centre facilities make it really comfortable. We will be back next year. Thanks again guys.
Seamus is a brilliant instructor. He's very enthusiastic and helpful, my little girl loved her 1st lesson. Makes me want to learn too. Highly recommend
An unforgettable experience! We had the best time ever at this surf school. Our instructor, Oisin, was absolutely fantastic—so friendly, supportive, and made sure everyone felt safe and confident in the water. His energy and passion made the whole session incredibly fun. Whether you're a complete beginner or just looking to improve, I can't recommend this surf school enough. Definitely give it a try!
We had a great time at Sligo Surf Experience! The instructors were super friendly, patient, and truly skilled. We felt well taken care of at all times and learned a lot. The atmosphere was relaxed and motivating – an all-around amazing experience.
5 stars isn’t enough! What a great day out, we’ll be back soon for sure. My son and I had a wonderful experience surfing and body boarding with Seamus and the team. They explained everything clearly, and were very encouraging and helpful. Thank you so much

I adore this gorgeous studio! Family ran by the lovely Rachel who has created a space of calm and tranquility. With classes to suit all levels and a welcoming atmosphere…I’d highly recommend to all locals and anyone visiting Strandhill or surrounding areas
I recently had the privilege of attending Rachel’s Yin, Restorative & Yoga Nidra Special, and I can honestly say the experience was nothing short of transformative. From start to finish, it was OUTSTANDING. This was my second time experiencing the deep stillness and restorative benefits of Yin and Restorative yoga, but this session exceeded all expectations. As a special surprise, we were treated to a Soundbath led by the incredibly talented Andy, which added a profound layer of relaxation and healing. I would HIGHLY recommend this experience to anyone in need of a complete mind-body reset. Whether you're looking to release stress, recharge your energy, or simply reconnect with yourself, this journey offers it all. For anyone who may be hesitant about yoga—like I was, worried about complexity or ability—let me assure you: Rachel creates an inclusive and psychologically safe space for all levels of experience. She guides you with such care and expertise, helping you step into the unknown with ease. By the end of the session, I felt a profound sense of harmony and left feeling truly in sync with the rhythm of life. Grateful. Thankful. Blessed. 🙏🏻
Have been a member to Salt and Soul for the last 6 years and this had been my ancre. Love the diversity of teachings and shared experiences on offer as well as the visitors workshops, all delivered in a beautiful and very zen studio. Well done Rachel.
Time to put pen to paper and update my review of Salt and Soul. I have been going almost daily since late 2016. I do also attend another studio in Sligo for a specific style of yoga - Iyengar - since late 2015. What I like about this studio is the variety of different teachers over the years. Each has their own unique style and ethos. Teachers tend to come and go which is nothing unusual in the Yoga world. I actually find the mixture of long term teachers and every now and then a new face and style is very appealing. The last year or two especially have seen some amazing workshops, special classes from a visiting guest teacher, an ongoing teacher training course and yet includes kayaking to an island for breakfast and a yoga class or an early morning yoga class followed be a healthy breakfast in a nearby café. To Nigel - the longest serving teacher specialising in Vinyasa, Rachel the owner and her lovely style of Yin Yoga and to all the amazing past and current teachers - a big thank you. I honestly do not know where I would be without my daily classes and my lovely 'family' of friends and fellow yogi's. Regards Bill
Absolutely lovely place to be...Wy had amazing time during Soundbath with Andrew last Sunday...this session included kids and adults with Neurodivergent that describes people whose brains develop or work differently for some reason. That was soo relaxing session for everyone, kids, adults and carers. Thank you for your kindness
I have been attending Salt and Soul for about two years now, and I couldn't be happier with my experience. This studio truly stands out for several reasons: 1. Diverse and Skilled Instructors: The studio boasts a fantastic mix of instructors, each bringing their unique style and expertise to the classes. Whether you're a beginner or an advanced practitioner, you'll find an instructor who resonates with you and helps you grow in your practice. 2. Relaxing Ambiance: From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with a serene and calming atmosphere. The studio is beautifully designed with soft lighting, soothing music, and a clean, spacious layout that immediately puts you at ease. 3. The staff and fellow yogis are incredibly welcoming and supportive, making it easy to feel at home, no matter your level of experience. 4. Variety of Classes: The studio offers a wide range of classes, from gentle restorative sessions to more intense vinyasa flows. There's something for everyone, and the schedule is flexible enough to fit into any busy lifestyle.
There’s cocktails of different style of yoga to suit everyone and every age. Place is always spotless, yoga equipments prepared for, the teachers is professional in their own yoga practice, plus each month we will have a guests yoga teachers for the new yoga style. I experienced Iyengar yoga with Aileen on Wednesday, got to say she World Class with the number of practice and experience. Sunday Vinyasa with Nigel is another highlight for me. I made it as my selfcare Sunday. The environment, the sense of calmness, great parking space, great value, great company of friends. Especially, on Sunday after yoga , we go for the market near the airport or Airport cafe. Walk up to Knocknarea or beach walk What more could I have ask for. If you are a visitor to Sligo, there’s a place for you to visit. And if you live in Sligo, there’s a place for a proper regular yoga. 🧘‍♀️🙏🧘
I found my perfect yoga studio at Salt & Soul, Strandhill. I’m active person, but it was my first time practicing yoga and I was a beginner. I didn’t see myself as having the patience to meditate and calm down. I was surprised that Rachel knew exactly how to make me believe yoga really impacts change and that I can actually do it! I’ve noticed that I have better sleep, a stronger spine, increased flexibility and the power to calm myself down. I’m so glad we have this Gem in Strandhill village ❤️
