Absolutely breathtaking view! If you’re in Madeira, don’t miss this spot. The glass balcony sits 600 meters above the sea and offers stunning views of Câmara de Lobos, the coastline, and the mountains. Best times to visit are morning or sunset. Entry is €3. There’s a small café and a restroom (though the toilets weren’t clean when we visited). Not ideal for those afraid of heights — the glass floor can be a bit scary!
Lovely spot. A bit overcrowded. Metro style gates cost 3 Euros. If you think of admiring breathing views go elsewhere. Here tourists will excuse you every 10 seconds to take pictures. Anyway nice spot ticked 😅
Nice place! At some point it was truly breathtaking. I really enjoyed the view. The glass floor adds an extra thrill, though it can make you a bit nervous! The entrance is paid, and you need to buy tickets at the special machines (both cash and card accepted). After that, you go through turnstiles, and there are staff at the controls who won’t let you in without a valid ticket.
It’s a good view but very crowded and paying seems a bit steep. I’ve definitely seen better views on the island that are free (currently) it’s a cool concept though just wasn’t blown away
Entry is 2 euros . There were to many people and we preferred to walk a bit more on the hill,to the church and we had a beautiful view.
I thought the glass floor was larger. It was very disappointing specially because it was all dirty. The view is nice like all the other free view
Wonderful views over the south of Madeira, with 589 mt is one of the highest clifts worldwide. Worth the 3 eur entrance fee
The view was nice, but a little bit too touristy for my liking. People just come here to make instagram worthy pictures I guess in stead of enjoying the view. Many better viewpoints available on the island.

This is a place you must see if you’re planning to visit Madeira. But make sure it’s a sunny day and take warm clothes with you
Beautiful village in the mountains, they were having a fiesta the children maje the decorations in school
A must visit place. A high overlook of the extinct volcano crater. Now a village. Cafe there too.
Great view. The number of tourists is low. We enjoyed it.
Nice valley in the central of the eiland. We had a nice lunch and drinks. We have the chestnut plate and soup that was very special.
What a wonderful stay. Although Curral das Freiras is a rural town we had planned various hikes in the area and so we decided to stay in the village. And boy, am I glad that we did. We stayed 1 week in the 2 bedroom apartment (four of us) with a magnificent view of the surrounding mountains. Our hosts could not do enough for us, they were super friendly and accommodating for all our extra requests as we are serious hikers. The apartment was very clean and had all the necessary facilities. At the entrance to the building is a lovely little coffee shop/snack bar that made some amazing sandwiches for our hikes. I also recommend that you visit the local supermarket if you want to purchase any local made liquors. A wonderful, comfortable stay in Curral das Freiras with superhosts Melissa and Manny.
A fairy tale like city nestled in steep mountains. I never ventured into the city itself but the view from on the top of the mountains was surreal and would definitely recommend it as one of the things you should do in Madeira.
Caring and pleasant host, nice apartments, good Wi-Fi :D

Miradouro Fajã da Serra – Stunning Views A spectacular spot to stop and take in the beauty of Madeira. The view over the mountains is absolutely breathtaking, and you really get to appreciate the island’s natural landscape. If you love peaceful places with incredible scenery, this is definitely worth a visit.
Miradouro da Eira do Serrado is one of Madeira’s most spectacular viewpoints — a place where the island’s dramatic heart reveals itself in all its glory. Perched high above the Curral das Freiras (Nun’s Valley), it offers a breathtaking 360° view over deep mountain gorges, terraced slopes, and the tiny village nestled far below. The viewpoint sits at about 1,094 meters above sea level, surrounded by jagged peaks often wrapped in mist. On a clear day, the panorama is unforgettable — layers of green ridges fading into the horizon, with clouds drifting between them like slow-moving rivers. Getting there is part of the experience: a scenic drive through winding mountain roads, followed by a short walk to the viewing platform. There’s also a small café and a hotel nearby, perfect for resting while taking in the silence and grandeur of the landscape.Eira do Serrado captures the essence of Madeira — wild, peaceful, and awe-inspiring all at once. It’s a place that makes you feel both small and deeply connected to nature.
Astonishing view point, beautiful view on the mountains and the nature. Very quiet although there are rather a lot of people. Souvenir shops are at the parking lot, as well as a Caffè bar and toilet. Climate is quite cool so warmer clothes are recommended.
An astonishing viewpoint overlooking the Nuns Valley — truly beautiful views in every direction. There’s a nice little café and a souvenir shop nearby as well. A must-visit if you’re in Madeira.
Probably the best viewpoint I have been to on Madeira (maybe except Pico do Arieiro!), and very easy to access- around 30mins from Funchal and some journeys on bus route 81 stop outside, and then it's a 5 minute walk to the view. There's some steps to climb but it's *so* worth it. The views are breathtaking. If you have a couple of hours' spare in Madeira - definitely visit. There's also a good cafe (with seats with a view) and a shop.
Great views, restaurant and hotel spa on top, short walk from car park, pram and buggy accessible. Free entry on balcony.
Free view of the Valley of the Nuns, free parking with a convenience store next to it.
Fabulous view of the Valley of the Nuns. Well paved and easy short ascent, there is also wheelchair access to the top. Parking is free and there are some shops. Not a huge amount of spaces and the road up to the view point is narrow and windy. Fun to drive though.

Once up so high, it's a level walk along the waterways with alleyways to housing local veg plots and amazing terraces. It leads into more remote valleys and wilderness before returning into civilisation once more. 2 hours of walk with stunning views.
This was my first time doing a levada tour and it was great! At the beginning we had some difficulty locating it, cause we did not start at the very start, but some streets later. After we found it it's a pretty straightforward way through the wine yards and houses. After the villige the levada goes through some cliffs, but there was an additional path to the "dangerous" narrow part. I decided to walk on the canal, it was okay, but you have to be careful and sure-footed. This part is not long, I think about 30-40 meters. There was almost no water in the canals, so I guess if you're afraid and get dizzy you can just take your shoes off and go through the water :D The views are very nice and I really enjoyed this walk. It was somehow difficult to find the bus from Funchal (since we did this on Saturday and there were not so many busses, also the bus stops were not signed properly). We took bus 7 to Camara de Lobos and on the way back we took a taxi from the parking spot at the Cabo Girao Skywalk. It was 20 euros to Funchal city center.
Beautiful walk with great views. The levada runs through a long dark tunnel so might be handy to have a torch.
A beautiful walk through vineyards and forested areas. Quite easy, does get narrow in places. Try Ilha tours, they were excellent guides and service.
Starting from Estreta, this levada is a little bit monotonous but you can reach the Skylight sightseeing at the Cabo Girao
Fabulous Really good walk Beautiful scenery Especially over the gorge
A very nice older gentleman is the owner of the place. There is no kitchen as far as I can tell, but a good variety of beverages, ice cream and snacks which came in very handy during our hiking tour with our children. We sat outside on the other side of a small road and enjoyed the view and the cold beverages.
Great walk along the waterways. Not for faint hearted as step edges in parts. Bar half way round up some steps is welcome for ice cream and drinks.

This place was recommended by our good friend, the bar manager of a Lisbon bar. For those who honour local product & hear the stories from producers, this is a must have place to visit. We were given an excellent tour of Madeira's production. Interesting, easy to understand, visual and engaging. Like most places in Madeira, the winery needs to be reached, as its location is at a considerable altitude with beautiful views. At the end of the tour, a tasting awaits you, which will hardly leave indifferent lovers of unusual alcoholic beverages, as Madeira is. Truly, this drink has the power to surprise! Recommended.
A truly hospitable experience! After 2 weeks in Madeira, Leandro made our visit the highlight of the trip. He’s accommodating, telling the stories, asks you what you like to offer the best wine. The place itself is beautiful too! We arrived earlier and waited 30 before the tour, but with the views (1600m above the sea) it was a spectacular wait! The story, the atmosphere, the hospitality makes the experience a 12/10! Very recommended ❤️
This was a lovely winery to visit . Very tasty wines of different vintages . Excellent tasting session , great cellar. The Madeira wine making process , type of grapes and ageing was well explained. Great views from the winery as well
We had a terrific time at this winery. Got to see a little bit of the process of how they made the wine, and where they stored it. Since it is June, the winery is kind of calm right now. Harvest time in August/September, I’m sure, is much more active. We did the premium tour and got to try seven different types of Madeira wine. We learned a lot. It’s a lot different than other wines. All of them were very tasty. Our guide was very nice and was very knowledgeable. I highly recommend this tour. It was a great value for the money.
It was amazing experience! Very tasty wine, friendly atmosphere! I would definitely recommend it!
Nice wine tasting in Camara do Lobos, close to Funchal. The guy doing the tasting spoke very well English. Great explantion and history as well.
Generous, friendly, and knowledgeable guide provided wealth of information and context of Madeira wines are production. Tastings were wonderful sampling. An industrial setting but very enjoyable experience. Highly Recommend.
Actually just amazing wines from dry to sweet, from 5 till 40 years. Not made the old Madeira style but a bit more young and fresh. The host was welcoming and offered a lot of information, the tasting was comprehensive and it was clear that these wines are of a superior quality and fair priced. Really recommended. Definitely worth your visit. (Maybe even consider skipping the big ones in Funchal).

A beautiful church in a picturesque fishing village. Very impressive inside, if you're here, stop in for a while.
During our memorable trip to Camara do Lobos in Madeira, we had the privilege of visiting the splendid Church of San Sebastián. Stepping into this captivating place of worship, we were immediately enthralled by the exquisite artistry adorning its interior, creating an atmosphere of profound tranquility and reverence. The church's carefully preserved artworks are a testament to the rich cultural heritage of the region, offering a captivating glimpse into its historical significance. Our experience within these hallowed walls was truly awe-inspiring, leaving us with a profound sense of serenity and admiration for the local community. The friendly neighborhood and warm hospitality of the locals added an extra layer of charm to our visit, making us feel welcome and embraced by the genuine kindness of the people. For anyone seeking a truly enriching cultural and spiritual experience, we wholeheartedly recommend a visit to the Church of San Sebastián in Camara do Lobos. It is a destination that not only captivates with its art but also offers a soulful connection to the local community and its heritage.
As with most of the churches in Madeira, very beautiful.
When Camera do logos walk up the hill to the church and see their wonderful Christmas display
Beautiful church, many fine carvings.
Very small church with a superb painted ceiling.
Beautiful place to visit

Nice possibility to get from Camara de Lobos to Cabo Girao. The ‚Train‘ takes approx 30min to get up. There you‘ve 15min to visit Cabo Girao which is quite enough to see everything. During the drive you‘ll have a great view, too. For me it worth it and all good for this price (currently 9€).
Green Train runs no more. The Service is terminated due to Safety issues. Asked a local Taxi driver, that's what he responded!

Dramatic mountain views! Overlooks Curral das Freiras, a breathtaking valley. Stunning panoramic landscapes, a must-see in Madeira. Perfect for photos, especially when the clouds create a mystical atmosphere. A truly unforgettable view, showcasing Madeira's dramatic interior. It's a fantastic viewpoint to see the landscape from.
It was a great spot to give a great overview over the city of Funchal. There were personell on the spot to help us non native portugese with the machine. Walking out to the viewpoint it is a nice looking promenade, then it opens up to the platform. The platform itself, the glass, could be cleaned some. Other than that I fo not have much to add. Of this writing, the entry fee is 2€. The price is just affordable enough that I do not have a problem with it, if it increases, I am not sure I would have payed for it.
Never in my entire life did I see such stunning mountain peaks. We arrived at the perfect timing with no people in sight, until all the tourists came with about 20 landrovers. If you plan accordingly you can stumble upon this beautiful mountain range privately. Highly recommend on going around 12-2pm.
Some amazing sights, and met this delightful Madeiran Wall Lizard.
Absolutely stunning, views were amazing. Just loved Madeira, and hope to return again soon.
Way up there was really nerve-wracking. If you have enough time, it's better to book a 4 wheel guided tour.
Nice view, a bit covered by trees. Cool place in summer.
Beautiful views over the civil parish of Curral das Freiras and surrounding area. Spectacular scenery all-around!

Walking by popped in to look around. Was hit by the wonderful smell of Madeira wine. Wine lodge on second floor. Row upon row of barrels with many old devices on display use in its wine manufacturer. Two wonderful ladies explain the process, then offered a free taste test dry to sweet. Came away with two bottles. At the time we were the only ones there making the experience special. They have many tours popping in so we were lucky a very personal experience.
My husband and I had a great time here, we dropped in on our daytrip to Câmara de Lobos after being reccomended to visit here over a more crowded experience in Funchal so no booking ahead and lucked out with being greeted and helped quickly despite there both being a group of people there already and a larger group on their way in. We tried their standard package of 4 different 3 year old Madeiras and bought the tasting package of 4 older Madeiras afterwards. We ended up choosing two favorites that both came in half a litre bottles, perfect for us who love variety but dont really drink alot.
Perfect service and they offer Madeira wine tasting for free. You can then add one of the best you liked for an additional paid tasting. Their rate quality price even on younger Madeira is wonderful. You should visit here
A really nice lady explained us the differences of Madeira wine. You can taste the different wines and ages of wines and you can buy the product directly from the manufacturer
It was lovely short experience. They offer four 3year old wines for 1 euro each, however, if you are order any other wines to taste or buy wines from their store, then you dont have to pay for the initial tasting of the 3 year old wines..
H&H has become our go to place for wine tasting & then to buy some amazing Madeira wines. Must visit for people who visit Camara da Lobos. Big shout to the girl who gave us an insight on wines. Most definitely we are going back 😜
We visited this place as part of a guided in 4x4 group tour to end our trip. Top floor where the huge barrels are on display and tasting sessions taking right next to them. We get to taste as few Madeira's sherry in different sweetness levels. The lady who guided us was friendly and informative. We went into the gift shop on the same floor right after the session and purchased a few things for home. It was a great fun ending our tour for the day.
"Maybe the lady working there is just tired of tourists who are there to drink and not interested in Madeira history. But she just put 4 glasses in front of us and tried to go away. When we stopped her to ask what types of grapes and what age this Madeira is from, she just gave a rushed explanation. I wasn't impressed. The smell in there is divine, though.

Stumbled across this church when I noticed people entering ( I thought it was a municipal building!). Large church building absolutely packed with ornate carvings, painted and gilded. The more you look the more is revealed. Such attention to detail. Look up, the ceiling is amazing especially the first of three "domes" which are in fact trompe l'oeil and not domes at all. It's evident that no expense was spared in construction and decoration. A feast for the eyes. I think I was lucky to find this open? Not sure on opening times. Well worth a visit.
Beautiful little chapel, the ceiling is especially stunning.
Lovely little peaceful church.
So beautiful Worth the stairs
Beautiful church in a traditional Madeiran street.
Free entrance at my visit. Very damp environment which may be harmful for the very nice and small church.
Beautiful small church, built in 1420 by order of Zarco. A must see in a walk by Camara de Lobos.

A beautiful adventure on the West Tour with our top guide Rodrigo 🤩 It was a real pleasure to spend the day with him on tour! We visited beautiful places that without a tour and a 4x4 wouldn’t be possible. We even had time to go swim in the most beautiful natural swimming pools and had good laughs all the way from morning to evening with our guide. Thank you Rodrigo for this experience and your lovely personality 💪 Would recommend 1000%!
This was our first time in Madeira and the jeep safari through Laurisilva was a perfect introduction. John, our driver, was a knowledgeable and informative guide, pointing out a variety of different attractions and points of interest along with personal anecdotes and historical information. We ventured off track and round some very hairy bends and steep hills but we felt safe at all times. It’s an experience not to be missed!
We went on a 4x4 trip today to explore the northwest of Madeira!!! Gabriel was absolutely amazing — I’m scared of heights, and he made the trip so much fun and so much easier for me! It was a full day of breathtaking views, and our family totally enjoyed every moment. There was also another guy in training, Jose (John) — sorry, I can’t remember exactly — but he was great too! Very chatty and nice, and I think he’ll be a fantastic addition to the company!!! Thank you for the unforgettable memories!
We had an Amazing day with Rodrigo! He’s super friendly, (and funny) speaks so many languages even French, which was very good and made everything so easy and fun. Thanks to him we discovered some incredible places and had such a memorable experience. Honestly, couldn’t recommend this tour enough! There’s nothing better than having a local from Madeira to show you around and explain everything in a zebra car, vamos!
We had an amazing jeep tour in Madeira with our guide John! He was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience unforgettable. John showed us breathtaking views and shared lots of interesting stories about the island. The ride was fun and adventurous, but we always felt safe and well taken care of. Highly recommended!
Had a great tour with John today. He was friendly and very enthusiastic about sharing his knowledge of Madeira Island. It’s always great learning about the place you visit from someone like John. I would do another tour with John.
We went on a full day jeep tour of the west side, two kids and two adults. With only 2 other guests in addition, we had enough room. A full car with two more and it would have felt a bit crowded. Arrangements online up front, chats to prepare on WhatsApp, everything was smooth. The tour itself was great! We saw a lot of great places and just the “roads “ in themselves was an experience. Wouldn’t have driven there myself. Our guide, John, was also terrific, with a lot of knowledge and good at sharing it. He also drove quite considerate and competent, which we truly appreciated both on the high way and narrow hillside roads. In get, take a trip like this when you are here to really see and understand the island better!
The East Tour was incredible, and our guide Silvio made it even better! He showed us some amazing scenic spots and entertained us with some off-road paths. Overall, it was one of the best experiences ever and definitely worth a whole day!

Very nice museum dedicated to the art of printing. There are a lot of printing machines and other exhibits linked to the printing from the last century or even older. A nice video is highlighting the usage of several machines displayed in the museum. The entrance fee is symbolic , 3 Euros. It takes around 30-45 min max to see it all.
Great place to see old skool printing presses and type setting casting machines plus ancillary guillotines and binding machines. The museum needs more explanation for the machines on show as to how they work and what they were used for. However good value for visit.
As a former letterpress printer, I had a wonderful time looking at the presses & sundry equipment on display. A comprehensive collection of presses & ephemera, very well curated in an impressive setting. Well worth a visit.
Nice and interesting museum. There is one machine from Czechia (exactly Czechoslovakia) made in ADAST Adamov.
Coming from a background in printing it was an interesting place for us to visit, a very modern building housing printing equipment and machinery from a bygone time. 👍
Amazing display of printing presses through the ages Open Monday to Friday

There's a wide variety of antique machinery, typographic machines, offset printing presses, linotypes, and even a rotary press. It's a highly recommended museum for both those familiar with the trade and those unfamiliar with it. It's a very educational and interesting way to learn about the evolution of the printing press since its inception and what graphic production has meant to humanity. (Original) Un museo genial. A beautiful picturesque fishing village. Streets in the main part were decorated in different styles. It was a really unique experience and we spent half a day here. We walked around the harbor and all the decorated streets, the view over the sea and the church.
Facing the ocean with the great wind and waves, it is just incredible be here. You can enjoy the little fishermen village while enjoying the scenery. It is a free entry and you can enjoy the sun. I visited in February 2023 and it was a little bit cold and windy.
Stunning little fisherman village close to funchal and took a scooter ride there and the drive was amazing; easier to get around and for parking as well. Highly recommended for a visit.
Small ish town. Nice views, a few nice places. Churchill used to paint there. It's ok to visit one day in passing.
