Great visit Nice staff, very relaxed. And not only can you get to see the Birds of Prey but you can see it a SECOND time in the afternoon. Sometimes those Birds of Prey can be quite cheesy but not this one. The lads are witty and well informed and keep it interesting and entertaining throughout. Then there's the caves! Very impressive! Quite long, and expansive. Good access to it. Some people turned back, I guess they were claustrophobic - but to fair, it's all well spaced out with occasional caverns as viewing points. The guide is informative, keeps it short and simple and you learn/see a lot. Well worth the visit.
Fantastic experience. For the ticket price, you get to visit both the cave and the birds of prey centre. The cave is very accessible and not difficult to navigate. There are some wondrous sights inside and the tour guide was both very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humour. The birds of prey centre has a nice range of species to see and the flight shows are excellent. There are a number across the day each displaying a different set of birds. Highly recommended for a visit, the kids absolutely loved it.
This place was not on our list to visit, but due to the weather we decided to check it out. I am so glad we did!! We thought it was just a cave experience, but there is a birds of prey experience and also a great cheese shop here with their homemade goudas. Wow! We loved everything! The cheeses were amazing. The cave is supreme! The birds are so beautiful and great flyers. Having the birds swoop and dive 2 inches from your face is a bit startling but so fascinating! This place is worth the visit even if not on your route. The drive there is also pretty amazing!
It's a great experience, but there's really little time in the caves, I'd like to walk around longer. Due to the large number of tourists, the tours go quite quickly. The bird show is more suitable for children, but it is interesting to look at the beautiful birds and how skillfully they fly. The cave is beautiful, very well equipped, comfortable to be in. But too quickly, perhaps the best time to visit is not the tourist season, for example October-November. The upper parking lot offers a great view of Ballyvaughn!
We cannot recommend this fantastic Cave tour enough! My 6 year old Daughter was in awe from start to finish. Our very friendly and highly educated tour guide Sinead made this a wonderful experience. Thank you to the staff and team for creating such a memorable family holiday. We will be back! Best wishes, Lisa, Cork.
This is a fantastic experience, we did the caves first, and our tour guide Sinead was fantastic, giving us a detailed history of the cave system with a humorous approach, and took the time to point out the most beautiful features there. We then grabbed some lunch at the little cafe and did a bit of shopping in both gift shop & Farm shop, before heading down to see the bird show. The team there were fantastic, again delivering information with humour and interest, and even letting a few people hold the birds. The team did well even when the snowy owl refused to take part fully! For 27 euro per adult, I think was really good with the level of activity, service & for a unique experience!
We cannot recommend this place and the hawk walk enough. The hawk walk was the best experience ever! We booked for 10am and got introduced to 2 hawks, we then got to hold them on gloves and walk them into the woodland walk. We released them and then they kept coming back to the gloves for chicken. The walk lasted about an hour with the hawks always coming back to your glove, plenty of photos and learning about the amazing hawks from the guide. It was amazing and well worth the money. We then also watched all 3 bird displays as they have different birds each time, the cave tour and tried their cheese & fudge. We had a wonderful day and we highly recommend this place.
Amazing visit to the Aillwee Burren Experience! Tomb up for our tour guide – he was great and made the cave tour fun and informative. The cave itself was spacious and really interesting to walk through. The Birds of Prey attraction show was very nice – my son loved it and it was a highlight of the day. I also really enjoyed the cheese tasting and bought some to bring home. So nice to be back after 14 years – still a wonderful place. Highly recommend for families and nature lovers!

Picturesque Irish village with beautiful views. The village is part of the Wild Atlantic Way! The village of Ballyvaughan is a picturesque coastal village in northwest County Clare, Ireland, located on the southern shore of Galway Bay, at the foot of the Burren limestone plateau. Today it is a popular tourist destination, but its history goes back to ancient times. In the 19th century, Ballyvaughan developed into an important port centre. In 1829, a new pier designed by engineer Alexander Nimmo was built, which contributed to the development of trade and fishing. By 1841, the village had a population of 235, and it became the official capital of northwest Clare, with a workhouse, coastguard and police station. Water Supply (1872–75): Lord Annaly built a reservoir to supply the village with water, and in 1875 two Connemara masons, stranded in Ballyvaughan after their boat was wrecked, installed a fountain in the centre of the village. The Burren area, where Ballyvaughan is located, is rich in archaeological sites. Megalithic tombs such as the Poulnabrown Dolmen, as well as ringforts and medieval towers are located near the village. These sites bear witness to the region’s rich history, dating back thousands of years.

The Burren is such a cool place to visit! The landscape is so unique—lots of rocky areas, beautiful wildflowers, and amazing views. It’s perfect for a nice walk and just soaking in the peaceful vibes. If you’re into nature or just looking for a quiet spot to explore, you’ll love it.
The Burren is one of the largest Karst landscapes in the world. It was formed during the ice age as glaciers scraped away anything above bedrock. This is what's responsible for the crevices and random boulders everywhere. Overall it's well worth a stop.
The Karst landscape is truly unique region, and rather aptly named (Boireann, the rocky landscape). From a geologic view, there is lots to see, including fossils within the limestone, exposed strata at the cliff edges, glacial erratics, drumlins, clints & grikes, poljes, turloughs and the limestone caves. Mullaghmór is interesting for its odd shape, a layer of folded rock which stands out from the relatively flat surroundings. The ecology is also noteworthy, with around 75% of all Irish flora being present there. The longitudinal range is impressive, from mountain avens to orchids. The gentians are pretty to see when they're around. A lot can be seen when looking closely between the grikes. In terms of fauna, you have the "wild" goat which I haven't seen nearly as much elsewhere in the country personally. Up to 95 bird species have been spotted, the common whitethroat is perhaps noteworthy to the Burren. My personal favourite is the coastline, with long limestone pavements which reach out directly to the sea. The tumultuous coastal waves create stunning spray, especially when accompanied by heavy winds (the weather can be intense and forboding).
Such a cool secret little stop. The whole area is covered in limestone, shaped by rainwater. The water slowly breaks down the rock and leaves behind the jagged formations you can see in the photos. Worth checking out! Just be careful where you step. You can easily twist an ankle if you're not careful. The grassy areas have especially uneven footing. Keep an eye on kids because they may wander off in excitement. Enjoy!
Awesome place with an interesting landscape. Parking is easy off the road but a small but challenging climb is needed to reach the top. Definitely can be challenging for anyone not in shape but not impossible. Worth a visit! The cliff walk closer to the shore is easier and equally as beautiful. Good place to add onto your stop to the Cliffs Of Moher.
Stunning impression in front of the clints and grikes I'm impressed by the vegetation in between the rocks If you reach the parking area it is very easy to have a walk near the Dolmen
Stunningly beautiful geological experience. Very windy plz bring good shoes. Major tripping hazard!
What a stunning place to visit. the view alone is out of this world x

What an amazing project this is. The design is outstanding, as is the planting. Exyensive collections of ferns, astilbes and others. Native Orchids growing in profusion wherever there is a grass clearing. The links between the garden and its wider setting have been well thought out and work exceptionally well. All developwd from scratch during the past three decades in the face of horse flies, plagues of ticks and an k vasion of pine martens. This place has gone yo the top of my list of remarkable gardens. I will be going back periodically to watch the further developments.
The most interesting garden tour that we have experienced. It seems scarcely credible that Carl has built this wonderland single handedly. It was a lovely day when we visited and we could enjoy the early blooming of the plants without the greenery being too advanced and obstructing views. We even tasted pig nuts. Outstanding— thanks again Carl.
Had the pleasure yesterday of a visit to Carl Wright's magical garden in the Burren, County Clare. An amazing space that blends perfectly into the surrounding landscape. Carl's guided tour of the garden is so interesting. Looking forward to my next visit.
You'll see a variety of breathtaking and intimate landscapes that flow from one to another and take full advantage of the surrounding starkness of the Burren. Breathtaking views, cut through the hawthorne, and peaceful nooks by the water's edge. We visited on a bright sunny day and our tour included explanations of the light the gardener's created within the landscape. Carl has true joy and passion for the garden and delights in sharing his vast knowledge with visitors. This was a highlight of our week!
It is the most stunning, interesting garden I have ever visited. It is full of delightful surprises. It was a lovely time . The tour is just magical and educational . Will definitely visit again
Spent the most wonderful afternoon visiting Caher Bridge Garden. Could have listened to Carl for hours. His knowledge and passion for gardening and the Burren were so impressive. Even the constant rain couldn't dampen our spirits. We will be back in the spring....
We stumbled upon the garden while on a walk and it turned out to be the highlight of our two weeks in Ireland . Absolutely magnificent! Carl’s attention to detail has created a jaw dropping blend of texture and subtle colors—thoughtfully woven into the Barren landscape —-as if the garden was always meant to be there. Visual decadence. Thought provoking. Awe inspiring. A true gem of a place. Thank you for sharing your masterpiece with us Carl!
While on a quick business visit to Galway we had a free afternoon and I suggested we go to see Carls garden. I’d heard him talk about it 10 years ago when we were staying in Cashel House Hotel. Since then I’d so often reflected on what he had said and it was always a dream to see it myself. Wow were we not disappointed. An absolute triumph of gardening vision Carls passion for his space is infectious. A stunning garden created in the most difficult terrain is not created without a lot of knowledge and more importantly hard hard graft. I’ve been to many gardens but this one will surely stay in my memory for years to come. Thank you so much for Carl for your tour , knowledge, skills and patience during it. Really appreciated and can’t wait til my next visit from Armagh. Ruth and John

Calling this a castle is a bit questionable, however, it was enjoyable to visit nonetheless. Restored to what it should look like, it is quite nice to go up all the way to the top. As an added bonus, it is free and that is always nice when visiting these small structures scattered all over the area.
A super location suitated witin a school of art. It has great parking and the castle is in great condition. You can walk all the way around it and even from ther main road its looks fantastic, enjoy
Beautiful! Just visited on the way back from the Cliffs of Moher. A must see and stop at the college Cafe if you can. Lovely people there!
Great stop that includes a restored tower that you can explore inside and out. The site is an art institute that has interesting stuff all over. Definitely worth checking out.
My wife Jenni and I were married here on August 9th, and I only wish I could give this place 6 or 7 out of 5 stars. The castle is amazing and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We felt like we were in a fairy tale and I will never forget this experience for the rest of my life.
Cool old tower castle that's now a school - an art school I believe. It's pretty cool, you can climb up. Pro tip - they have bathrooms here.
Worth to visit. Great example of XVI century fortified tower house.

I did the summer program 'How to use your eyes' It was an absolutely amazing and dreamlike five day workshop. The teacher (Timothy Jones) was out of this world and the beautiful landscape was like a fairy tail I came all the way from Israel and I plan on coming again. Since that course I've changed my life route and will be studying fine arts. I can't wait until I go back
Great Irish tower there set in a beautiful landscape
Wonderful place. We have an event participated there. Great memories!
Very interesting place
Loved this place!!! Just a remarkable, beautiful trip!
Great little art gallery space right in the middle of the Burren.
(Translated by Google) Unfortunately we were only on the tower, but the view of the Burren is also beautiful. (Original) Waren leider nur auf dem Turm, die Aussicht auf den Burren ist aber auch wunderschön.

Beautiful beach with sand dunes frequented by locals for early morning swimming. Plenty of parking with no charges. Observing tower in centre of beach. No toilets on site.
We love this beach, it’s got a nice amount of parking. The beach is small but beautiful. We love the sand dunes. There are rules in place regarding dogs and when you can bring them to the beach.
Lots of dunnes to get lost in n shelter from the wind.nice place for picnic n walking around
The sand at your feet and sand dunes further along the shore make Bishop's Quarter a special place. The water is crystal clear if you fancy a swim and though there is the odd jelly fish, they're easily spotted in the clear water.
Perfect beach for a relaxing walk
We just stopped to get out and stretch our legs, but it was a neat area!
Fantastic beach, need to get there early for parking though
Beautiful and quiet! Lovely backdrop of Burren , great place to recharge some batteries
