The Beauly Priory is right on the edge of the town of Beauly. It is a beautiful ruin that can be visited at any time. The stone is red instead of the usual grey. There is a small section that is locked that has some very old graves from the 1400's. The grounds around the Priory are also nice to explore.
Today, Beauly Priory serves as both a cemetery and a heritage site, offering a glimpse into Scotland’s medieval past and the monastic life that once thrived there. Its serene setting and historical significance make it a worthwhile stop for anyone interested in Scotland’s rich cultural heritage.
Set in the lovely village of Beauly, with the great local shops and cafè's, this is a great link to the past. Free to visit and not busy. Well maintained and cared for. A very relaxed visit. Something to visit if you're hill-walked out, out weathered in. Wheelchair accessible, just. A local river walk just next to it, it is a nice way to spend 20 - 30 minutes.
Beautiful ruined priory just a short walk from Beauly village. Quiet, atmospheric setting with ancient graves and tall trees. Some parts date back to the 1200s. Free to enter and great for a short, reflective visit.
This place holds a history of Hundreds of years. And the structure still survives with its pride well maintained and will make you think about the stories of that building can tell us.
Visited on a sunny cold day. Well maintained Priory. Easy to wander around and view the building from different aspects.
A charming little spot for a break. The 13th-century abbey is an impressive sight, with gravestones dating back over 400 years. Browse the quaint shops, enjoy a cosy café, and take a leisurely stroll along the river. Well worth pausing for at least a short visit.
Beautiful, especially when the sun comes through. Felt extra lucky when an orange cat just walked right up to me asking for pets and rolled around in the grass 🥰 *open to the public for free

I tried a Naturedays Open House recently and it's *exactly* what I've been trying to create out of the wooded spaces near where I live. But someone's already done it (Fin, as far as I can tell - based on my own experience and from what other home-edding parents have told me about him). Its pedagogy is something I've been trying to find for years (both in the Highlands and Central Belt) and I'm so happy that it exists here - if Fin ran this programme more regularly (essentially a forest school for older kids, not just nursery), we'd be scrambling to sign up.
Stunning place, here when the weather was amazing. Its a lovely wildlife focused retreat. Bookings only, see their website. Enjoy!
Perfect place for a peaceful holiday, living in a turfed roof log cabin and dining in the beautiful Aigas House. The habitats for the wide variety of flora and fauna were easy to access. Hides provided successful viewing of badger, pine martin, wild cat and beaver and birds galore. Lots of photographic opportunities. The meals were five star. The Rangers are all very knowledgeable, helpful and good drivers. Sir John and Lady Lucy's hospitality and organisation is wonderful. The Aigas Field Club have a great programme for helping children understand all about the diversity of wildlife. I can certainly recommend choosing an Aigas Wildlife experience for a holiday experience to remember. Helen Taylor
Staying a week at Aigas - with its grounds, rangers, and Sir John and Lady Lucy - is among the most exceptional of my many travel experiences. Think wildlife refuge and rewilding programs rolled into a refurbished Victorian estate led by Sir John Lister-Kaye, well known in the naturalist and conservation circles for his pioneering work. I stayed as part of an educational tour group, and enjoyed each day fully. Through field trips, hikes, and events, I learned a great deal about Scotland's rich history and current efforts to restore biodiversity to the country. The rangers who led our trips were knowledgeable, energetic, and enthusiastic. The modest accommodations adjacent to the estate house were clean and comfortable, with big windows for spotting red squirrels and bird life. The food was creative and fabulous, served in a spectacular dining hall. The garden and grounds were breathtaking. Sir John and Lady Lucy and Hermione were gracious hosts, eager that their guests enjoyed their stay. Make sure to look closely at the center's website, because Aigas is not open to the public. Only to guests who have signed up for its various programs. I'm eyeing the list now for another adventure. Highly recommended.
Very very good accomodations. Very very good food. Breakfast: check. Lunch: check. Afternoon tea: check. Starter, main and dessert: check. Brilliant place and beautiful grounds full stop.
Most amazing way to experience the Scottish Highlands.
Have been to two open days at Aigas Field Centre and really recommend them! Always great to meet the charming young rangers, walk around the loch on the tour, have a lovely tea and buy some new plants for the garden. Beautiful gardens also and we saw great evidence of the beavers this time!
A great fun day!! We were bug hunting, animal trapping had a ride in the Polaris. Lots a friendly folk too. 👍

Went and did the 4 Munro circuit up that way. The gate is open 9-7 or 9-8 depends on days etc. Gates not open on a Tuesday and half day Wednesday, but foot and push bikes can get access all of the time. Remote, beauty and not so many people around there
Walked the Glen Strathfarrar Munros circuit up here had to wait at the gate next to cottage till 9am to be let in and be out by 8pm (summer time) great day out cycling from carpark to start and picking bike up after walk 4.5 miles or so down the road.
Off the beaten track. Not in the guide books and well worth a visit! Saw a couple birds of prey and wild goats!!
A magical Glen. In tbe height of summer the early stage if the walk is like a stunning cold weather jungle, heavy mosses hang from the tree and against the backdrop of the river glass, it creates something very magical. Then after the dam, it opens up to a breathtaking mountainous backdrop. Plenty of wildlife and wonder.
Literally the most beautiful view we saw in Scotland.

A Moo-velous Highland Adventure! 🐮🐐🍯 My mom and I stumbled upon this gem while exploring the Highlands, and wow, Robertson's absolutely delivered a delightfully Scottish experience! From the moment we pulled in, we were greeted with warm hospitality, gorgeous views, and the real stars of the show — the Highland coos! 🐂 We couldn’t stop smiling at the adorable coos, fluffy alpacas, curious donkeys, and charming goats — it’s like walking into a storybook petting zoo! They were well-loved, friendly, and totally ready for their photo ops. Inside the shop? Pure heaven for foodies. We left with bags full of goodies — locally made jams, rich chutneys, golden honey, and a few other tasty treasures we couldn’t resist. Everything tasted like it was made with love and Highland sunshine. The whole place had such a cozy, family-run vibe — authentic, welcoming, and just quirky enough to make it unforgettable. If you’re anywhere near Beauly, go here. Your taste buds (and your inner child) will thank you. 🧡
Had an awesome time visiting! The staff were exceptionally warm and made us feel so welcome. They even brought the cows and alpacas over so we could see them up close, we had such a great moment! The shop is also great — loads of gifts and local produce to check out. An amazing experience, definitely worth a stop!! 🤍✨🌿
We visited the beautiful farm and truly enjoyed the atmosphere there. The two ladies we met were exceptionally elegant and welcoming, which made our visit even more special. My children had a wonderful time and were fascinated by the Scottish cows. The place is absolutely amazing, and we bought cow figurines with sounds for my little girls. All the items are perfect as souvenirs or gifts. I highly recommend everyone to visit and enjoy a delightful time at the farm and shop 💕💕
I took my parents here while they were visiting because they wanted to see the highland cows and we loved it! We got some great pictures and got to appreciate just how big and fluffy they are. There were also some cute alpaca and sheep on the farm! The shop is great and had a wide variety of cow and non-cow themed gifts. Definitely worth stopping in!
Amazing generational family owned farm with two highland cows, three alpacas and goats. The gift shop had wonder items (food, cool animal gifts) at reasonable prices. The shop keepers were kind and helpful. A must stop near Inverness!
Staff were so kind and welcoming. The animals were all adorable and the shortbread they sell in the shop was delicious. They had a really great selection of highland cow merchandise. One of my favorite stops of the trip.
I stopped by to finally see some Highland Cows up close and was not disappointed! I met Katie and her little brother Jamie at the farm. Both are very pretty and impressive animals. There are also some Alpakas, Goats and Donkeys to see. Please be aware it’s not a petting zoo (which is alright in my book). There‘s a little shop with highland cow merch, chutneys, marmalade and sweet treats (honey comb, fudge, etc which looked delish) and some farm produce (meats, cheese and such). All the staff was super friendly and kind. Of course Katie and Jamie are the stars and totally worth stopping by.
Best place to see two lovely Hairy Coos while you’re in Inverness! The owner is so friendly too explaining the two lovely coos. While meeting with the Hairy Coos are entirely free, but you can also contribute by supporting the gift shop.

I ordered a Fair Isle cardigan in blackberry for my daughter’s birthday. It arrived very quickly, beautifully packaged and is a gorgeous rich deep purple. My daughter loves it and was very pleased with the slightly generous fit, neat length, colour and quality. It looks like a vintage piece and, with the proper care, I expect it will last a long time.
I could not be more pleased with my order from Campbell's. I ordered some tweed fabric which shipped the very next day and was delivered just 3 days afterwards. It arrived nicely packaged with a card. What I like best is that the cloth looks even better in person. Thank you for the excellence of your service!
Very high quality knitwear. Mostly fairly trad but Campbells do some very contemporary colourways as well. Brought a yellow Shetland jumper years ago which I still wear all the time.
We stopped in to look at fabrics and though I only ended up buying some soaps, the manager was lovely. She gave us great recommendations for the area.l and took her time to talk about the products. The shop is beautiful and has a variety of tweeds, wool, and cashmere.
I would like to thank the truly lovely staff who served me when l was in Beauly not only did l buy a lovely cardigan for me, but my grandson was able to find a really nice jumper.
Fantastic service my order arrived very promptly and the dress is superbly made, wonderful fine wool. My wife is very happy with it.
Amazing collection of wool and cashmere. They were really helpful in helping me find the right size and see all the different options.
Wonderfly helped in this exquisite shop. A short browse will not do the inventory justice. Enjoy an inventory locally made and well stocked. Patient and welcoming clerks will find just the right items for your particular taste.

We visited this lovely antique business in Beauly recently for advice on some small antiques and we were very warmly welcomed by Sarah who was so helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Beauly to call
I am from South Africa and have a vintage diamond and onyx bar brooch that I would like to sell. The owner examined it thoroughly and expressed his admiration. He went to great lengths to advise me how and where I could get the best price for it. I really appreciated his help. Thank you. Lesley.
I am absolutely livid. I have just been in with my son and husband who are both avid coin collectors. They asked if the cabinet with the coins could be opened so they could have a look and the lady who appeared to be running the shop, said to the man whom im assuming was the shop assistant that they were not allowed to handle anything. They asked for prices and the shop assistant went to ask but then was obviously told to make coffee for some American tourists who were obviously well to do. They were treated appallingly in my opinion. Sorry but if you don't reek of money they will treat you like thieves.
What a gem of an antique shop in the picturesque Scotland Highlands! Despite being based in London, I had the pleasure of being served by the wonderful Sarah. Her quick and honest communication made the entire process smooth and enjoyable. I recently purchased something deeply sentimental to our family, a cherished piece that had been missing for over 50 years. Sarah's expertise and dedication made this reunion possible, and I couldn't be more grateful. If you're on the lookout for unique treasures and a seamless shopping experience, I highly recommend this antique shop. Kudos to Sarah and her Dad for making every interaction special!
Hands down, the best antique store in Scotland for antique jewelry and silver. They also have a superb selection of watches, glass, art, porcelain, historical memorabilia and militaria, in addition to other small to mid size antiques. The proprietors are a wealth of information and very welcoming to the casual collector or dealer. I saw those browsing be welcomed with the same courtesy as big spenders. Great customer service and top quality products at great prices make this a place I will return to.
Lovely little shop in a lovely little town. Very good selection of silver. Didn’t buy anything this visit but recommend a trip out if your staying in Inverness.
I was in today & I have to say the gentleman and the lady were so friendly warm and welcoming into their beautiful shop I am very pleased with my sale & I would highly recommend everyone to visit this lovely shop. Thanks again 5 stars Regards Nicola
The most amazing shop, so friendly and Elton John loved it too!

We loved it here. It's so tranquil ambling along the scenic woodland path, listening to the sound of the river and waterfall. In spite of the name we didn't see any dogs apart from the one we brought with us. Autumn is a great time to be here with the beautiful colours of the leaves, though it can be a bit wet. Just be careful not to slip and fall in the water, it's very cold!
Very attractive beauty spot in the Scottish Highlands. For sure, off the beaten track but accessible by car or by the intrepid hiker. I give this 4* only because nearby are the Plodda Falls which are truly spectacular and make the Dog Falls look slightly modest in comparison.
Stunning views on the drive up and at the falls. Lovely walk from the car park (£3 for the maximum stay) to the view points didn't do the full walk but the views where great.
Pretty falls! Just note that on Google maps it doesn't show a loop when tracking your hike but the map by the dog falls parking lot has a map there. I recommend starting the trail on the bridge by the parking lot and going around that way since the descent wasn't sooo bad as it might be going up. Can take 1 - 1.5 hours
Nice walk, but the river is pretty average as far as nature in the highlands goes and the waterfall is not spectacular - also it's not able to see it so well from up close. Nice parking but expensive, in return it had a pretty good and clean public toilet. If you are in the area anyway, you may want to stop by - but imo it's not worth a longer drive (e.g. from Inverness is too far) or as a sole destination.
This is a great little walk that is relatively easy for most able bodies. There are some steep descents and ascents, and though it is waymarked and well laid out, mostly gravel paths, be aware of slip/trips from exposed roots etc. Even on dare I say, a typically wet day, you will enjoy some very scenic countryside, woodland, lochs and valleys. Don't be afraid to do all of the loop, and include the viewpoint on the white labelled leg which is certainly worth the walk. Not suitable for wheelchair users, pushchairs or buggies.
Lovely area for a hike, very peaceful when we went 😀. Easy walking and clear paths to follow. The walk takes you along a river and up into the forest. The views are amazing
Nice place but why is there no bridge / platform that allows to look into the dogfalls? Well maintained hiking paths and great viewpoint

This is an amazing place, if you get the chance and it's open do pop in, I'm not saying you will be able to afford anything as some of the prices are well , just crazy , but equally some of the exhibits are really cool
Always interesting exhibitions, well hung and lit within an old church. Generally pretty expensive, but not outwith the scope of the artists being exhibited.
Excellent Art Gallery. Highly recommend a visit. Fantastic sculptures and beautiful painting by very talented artists. Art that could easily match any of the more famous Scottish Galleries. Friendly atmosphere, will visit again.
Amazing and beyond expectations! This is the best contemporary art gallery in Scotland I've ever visited.
An amazing gallery in a beautiful location with a warm and friendly welcome.
Wow. Amazing Contemporary art gallery. Wonderful relaxing ambience plus leather chairs by the fire to sit and read or just absorb.
Love this place - they host such wonderful artists. The Beth Robertson Fiddes exhibition is breath taking. Always worth a visit.
Daughter living in Inverness said we had to visit during our one week trip to them last week, so glad we did. My wife and family are into art, whilst I was going to wait in the car, Don’t ever not go in, it’s amazing and the lovely welcoming lady is keen to acknowledge you with the perfect balance to allow you to be informed, whilst being left to appreciate a) The art we saw, as it changes all the time I believe, some of it was just mind blowing in its construction and in its intricacy and had me wondering where the artist got their inspiration from. b) The building is a beautiful space retaining all the original carving, intricate ceiling and stained glass, from what I can see, THANK YOU for not destroying this previous church, as to us it so lends itself to looking at this diverse range of artists work in such tranquil surroundings! You don’t have to pay anything to go in and aren’t rushed in any way, nor expected to buy anything, although if I get £2,000 on the lottery I will go back and purchase the two items that I absolutely fell in love with!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
