Guidebooks🗺 all rave about Hallstat - an idyllic little town approximately 40-minute drive from Traunkirchen🇦🇹. Unfortunately, with the scenic location comes the usual downside: hordes of tourist👨‍👩‍👧‍👦aimlessly wandering the narrow streets with their smart phones🤳. Traunkirchen certainly wins out on the quiet beauty🏞. Traunsee really met with our approval during our short stay at Landhotel Post.👍

Beautiful views, definitely woth going. Hike is possible also with families and small kids. The elevation is quite sharp and the slope steep, but not dangerous. Parking is quite challenging though. If you are lucky, there is a free parking lot just at the mountain foot, but at the peek of the summer season, it may be difficult to find a place there in the middle of the day.

The day of the wedding we had amazing weather and we could be on the top terrace of the boat, but it would have been also possible to stay in the covered area in case of bad weather.
