Very moving. Loved every minute of it. Quite busy, and cost me about £50 for a family of 5. Parking across the road, cost me 4 euro for 24 hours. I'll let the pictures do the talking.
On the same level as the Victory Museum with as a topic the landings in June 44 to backup the invasion on the beaches. All is very well done, the visual guide I never saw anywhere but the should have that in every museum. My son loved it and said that although everyone is speaking about D-day experience your museum is hundred times better.
An amazing museum. 5 different buildings showing such information. There's one which emulates what it's like to be in an aircraft ready to parachute into the abyss. The noise is scary and gives you an small idea of what those boys went through. Most interesting and 2 hours at least needed. There is a cafe and shop, of course.
Really easy to find, good access and parking, gets crowded at peak times due to the nature of its significance both as a museum and town. The museum is not expensive £10 each and boasts pods of the elements of the airborne tactics and features. Nice to see an actual glider, aircraft and artefacts relating to their conquest of the village. Well worth a visit, toilets, shop, exit/entrance right into the village and famous eglise
Absolutely do not miss if you are near. This museum has been completely renovated with fantastic exhibits. Everything is bi lingual. Parking is easy in front (pay parking).
As well as the museum, the town is a must see. Watch The Longest Day movie before visiting to give you a flavour of what the soldiers went through, and then see up close how they did it. The museum pays them homage in a very professional way. Well worth admittance fee. A definite stop off for when visiting the normandy landings region. 👍🏼 Big carpark near to the entrance for motorhomes (€2 for 8 hours), and you can park there overnight for a cost. Several good cafes and bars around the square to make the most of the day out.
This museum is well thought out with approximately 5 separate buildings representing different themes and time periods. The museum displayed many authentic items of the different periods in history.
Outstanding museum that provides an excellent sense of what happened on D Day. Engaging presentation, well maintained and a must-see.

Lovely town with great ww2 history Take a while and soak up the atmosphere and appreciate what occurred here. Visited just prior to the 80th anniversary
This historic church played a significant role during the D-Day landings 80 years ago. Occupied by German forces, it still bears visible scars from that pivotal night, serving as a powerful reminder of the past. Visitors can step inside and experience a sense of stepping back in time, surrounded by history. The church features stunning stained glass windows dedicated to the paratroopers who descended from the sky, honoring their bravery and sacrifice.
loved our visit to Ste Mere Eglise and the Church with the paratrooper hanging from the steeple. The stained glass is lovely and nothing has changed since 1944.
Beautiful monument and surrounding area. Visited here as part of the 75th anniversary of the d-day invasion (1944-2019). Incredible opportunity to share an experience with Americans, Canadians, French, Dutch, and Belgians. Although the area was quite busy, it was a wonderful time. I highly recommend visiting to take in the history and sacrifice of our nation(s) heroes.
My husband wanted to see this church and the parachuter as he is a Longest Day fan. Not much to do in this village besides viewing the church and the Airborne Museum, which we skipped. Just by chance, we opened the church day to an amazingly beautiful church still in use.
Beautiful church in a pittoresque town. Nice restaurants in the area too. The Airborne museum is also here.
Beautiful church with a fascinating story
When in Normandy be sure to spend some time in the small villages, especially Ste. Mere Eglise. Several cafes and shops in addition to the church and museum. If you don't know by now, let me fill you in, this is the church in the movie Longest Day. I believe there were several paratroopers that landed on this church, one died, one escaped out of his chute and the third one remained and played dead until they made him a prisoner of war. Another unlucky paratrooper landed inside a burning building, poor guy, so go the stories. To this day there is still a parachute w/a dummy hanging on the steeple, but he's facing the plaza so everyone can see him but he actually was hanging on the opposite side away from the plaza. We were here with a tour group and this is definitely worth the visit.

Monica provided a fantastic tour for my wife and me. Her knowledge of WWII, the battles, the artillery, the places, and the people is incredible. She shared dozens and dozens of fascinating stories that made it all come to life. I would absolutely recommend this tour with her. Hope to see more if we ever get back!
We had an amazing Day with Rene. His knowledge and the locations he took us to were great. Want to go back and do a multi day tour with him
OMG, what an amazing company giving awesome tours of some of the most hallowed ground for the Allied Forces in WWII. My son and I were thoroughly impressed by Monica's breadth of knowledge on all the subjects we touched on. That she was able to include personal stories from some of the veterans she has met made the tours come alive. We would highly recommend her company to anyone wanting to visit these historically important sites.
Spent the entire day today with Zachary from D-Day Battle Tours. What a great time we had. Zachary was knowledgable, professional and friendly. And a great story teller. We feel that we got a great behind the scenes look at D Day and the events surrounding it. Can highly recommend him!
An unforgettable D-Day tour with Zachery! Our D-Day tour with Zachery from D-Day Battle Tours was an exceptional experience. From the outset at the museum, Zachery impressed us with his in-depth knowledge and captivating details about the historical significance of D-Day. The countryside tours were equally enriching, allowing us to visit key locations and truly connect with the gravity of the events. We appreciated the time spent at Utah Beach, the poignant lunch at Roosevelt's, and the visits to Pointe du Hoc and Omaha Beach. But beyond the historical sites, what truly elevated the experience was getting to know Zachery. His passion for history and his ability to weave it into a compelling narrative made the day unforgettable. We highly recommend D-Day Battle Tours and especially request Zachery as your guide!
we spent a day in cherbourg and were looking for a tour of the Normandy area and Monica and D-Day Battle Tours was just what we were looking for! her knowledge of the invasion, the campaign and her passion for the history of WWII was incredible. my wife wanted to see the sites where her grandfather took part in D-Day and she came away with an experience beyond her expectations and our entire family's appreciation of what happened at the invasion is much deeper because of the tour Monica gave us. Highly, highly recommend!
While there are many tourist locations where a tour guide is not necessary, this is not one of them. Rene covers a lot of ground in quick time while breaking down a complex piece of history into bite size pieces. We almost didn’t make plans for Normandy as many said it would be miserably cold and wet in the winter months. I am pleased to say it was a highlight of our trip and certainly the most memorable. High schools do not come close to teaching the importance of this pivotal battle and to those individuals who fought it. Standing on those same beaches will stay with me forever.
My family visitied Paris and Normandy in March. The D-day tour with DDay Battle Tours was the highlight of the trip for all of us. They gave us all a much better understanding of the planning leading up to D-day and the events of the day itself. He was excellent with my sons. We took the 1-day private tour and upon leaving Normandy, my 10 year old commented that we should have taken the 2-day tour. The day went by very quickly and we saw many sights in addition to the standard sights you see with the other tour operators.

We did the American sector D-Day tour with Rene and we loved our tour. Rene has the lost fascinating and factual stories concerning the roles of America and Europe for this interesting time period. His information for this time period was unlike anyone I had ever met before. He has personally make some of these great hero’s and personal stories to share. I highly recommend Rene’s tour for a deep dive in to a tragic and heroic time period. Ending our tour at American Cemetery and being there for the nightly taking down of the flag was an impactful ending for the day.
We had an absolutely incredible tour with Rene. His deep knowledge of D-Day and World War 2 history paired with his personal experiences and stories made for an exceptional tour. As a couple who knows a lot about World War 2 we were not disappointed.
We are an American family of 4 with 2 children under 10. We opted for a Bayeux private half-day tour, which was the right amount of time for our kids. Rene was wonderful with providing an overview of the history, with plenty of opportunities for questions. Our shorter tour focused on Saint Mère Église, Utah and Omaha Beaches and the Normandy American Cemetery. We did not have time for museums or to break for lunch, though our kids likely would not have had the patience for the museums. The information from Rene was thorough and articulate, and he was patient with our kids, who at times became impatient. For an adults-only tour, a full day (or longer) would have been great. Rene provided a special experience at the cemetery with stories, including about the family that inspired “Saving Private Ryan,” and the Pieper twin brothers who served together, and were later buried together. See if you can spot the marker of one of the 4 women buried of the 9389. We by chance spotted Dolores Browne. Tip: We wish we would have packed a lunch as we only brought snacks as our instructions had noted lunch would be discussed at the beginning of the tour. Merci beaucoup, Rene!
With so many options, I hoped I had picked a good tour company, I wouldn't want my friends to be disappointed. Well, I feel like we hit the jackpot with Bayeux Sightseeing Tours and Rene! He is passionate about WWII, incredibly knowledgeable and he has quite a few personal stories to go along with the history. He's either met someone or knows someone who knows someone, who has a great story. We did 3 days (about 6 hrs each day) and he kept us interested, enthusiastic and entertained the whole time. Thanks for a great time René
First I would like to say what an incredible experience this was. There were only 4 of us so he drove us in his SUV, however I'm sure if he had a larger group he would make arrangements. He was very responsive over email in the months leading to the tour. I also communicated with him when we arrived in Paris and the night before we left for the Carentan train station. We started the tour with a debrief in his home that is literally at the edge of the plaza of the St. Mere Eglise (the famous one from the Longest Day movie). He explained where we would be going and showed us pictures of what we were going to see. We then headed out to Utah Beach, Pointe Du Hoc, Omaha Beach, and the American Cemetery at Omaha Beach. The entire time he was explaining and giving us perspective that is impossible to know unless you've been to these places. He was able to tailor our experience with the experience of the 29th infantry division that my great great uncle was a part of allowing us a personalized tour that I could never have imagined. If you want a great tour guide that can make this experience come alive, then Rene and Bayeux Sightseeing Tours is the company to go with.
Rene is obviously a WWII buff. His knowledge is extensive. This makes the tour excellent. We were a group of 6, and all agree the tour far exceeded our expectations.
We absolutely loved Rene and his tour. He has been a life long student of WWII and now shares this with the world. He picks you up right from your accommodations and delivers you home at the end. His information is well researched and at times provided personal stories of his interactions with veterans he’s become friends with over the years. He is based out of Sainte-Mère-Église, right across from the church. He also owns the Field Kitchen Bar/Restaurant, which we would also highly recommend.
Rene knowledge of the D-Day landings is extensive. What really made our 2 days were the stories of events that took place throughout the weeks/months of battle in this area. The battle for La Fiere Bridge, individual stories about American and German soldiers, the guns at Pointe Du Hoc and more. Renee has several personal relationships with American veterans who took part in D-Day, sadly many have past. He also has learned to jump with the WWII Airborne Demonstration Team. We were a group of 5 and our tours were a full 9 hour day that went by so fast. Lunch spots were excellent. You won’t be disappointed.

A monument to the 101st and 505th American airborne divisions. Parachuted into the area to take two bridges just before D Day. This battle per square foot was one of the bloodiest of WW2 but was taken and held by the Americans. Today you can see the causeway now surrounded by fields but this was flooded.
It's a very good place and nice monuments in memory of the paratroopers and the Us army air forces.
Seize and Secure. La Fiere Bridge over the Merderet River near Saint Mere Eglise. A must visit for history Buffs or D Day tourists. La Fiere is one of 2 bridges across the Merderet that had to be captured on D-Day,the other being at Chef du Pont. Good parking area so to visit the memorials there . Lest we forget ❤️ 🌹
Fantastic memorial, well made and provides a great view of the bridge and surrounding fields which the soldiers thought incredibly bravely to defend at a heavy cost.
What an inspiring place to visit and see how well the French have preserved the historical value of this location. In today's world it is hard to describe what took place here and how significant it was. Just look at all of the battlefield decorations given out to the troops and you can see how tough the battle was. One thing of special note I had not been aware of. For all of the NCAA football fans, you should remember the coach of Syracuse University back in the 50's, 60's up to 1971. He is in the college football Hall of Fame and coached many many future All Americans. His name was Ben Schartzwalder and how was a captain in the Army Airborne that took part in the fight on this bridge. He received several decorations as a result. A true citizen soldier! We came back for the parachute drop and it was breathtaking, something that is really a "once in a lifetime" experience. My compliments to all of the French that keep the memory of this going.
Great place to stop off outside St Mere Eglise and view both Iron Mike and the newer Mighty 8th memorial.
Thought this was a lovely memorial. The views looking over the area along with the map made it easy to visualise. No tickets needed!
The Parachute memorial is beautiful. The detailed map within the chute is amazing. No expense spared on remembering the many that gave up their lives. Very touching.

A place to visit with your family and (small) children, good for a weekend afternoon. There are a lot of activities with tractors and farm animals, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Good for picnic activities as well. I recommended it.
Very enjoyable. Beautiful buildings. Kids had a great time
Great museum, a good place to spend 2 hours. Much of the museum signage and descriptions are in French only.
A lovely exposition of past rural life in Normandy
(Translated by Google) A perfect place to immerse yourself in the world of the farm, with the reconstruction of a farm of yesteryear, a vintage playground and its animals to see (ducks, geese, chickens, rabbit, goats, donkey and cows). Little bonus: the workshops during school holidays (milking a cow, vintage tractor ride, discovery of bees with making a wax candle and other equally interesting workshops), very informative and suitable for children. A must-see place when you are passing through the area. Un endroit incontournable quand on est de passage dans le coin.
