The water tower in Sakskøbing was built in 1908 by Christiani & Nielsen. In connection with the restoration in 1982, the tower was decorated with a smiling face, designed by architect Flemming Skude. Before the inauguration, the project with the face was controversial in the local area, but later the 'smile' has become a landmark of the city, and now goes by the nickname 'Saxine'. The face of the tower was repainted in 2013.

In the middle of Torvet in Sakskøbing is the sculpture Roepigerne created by the sculptor Gottfred Eickhoff (1902 - 1982). The women also hold hands, and the sculpture thus symbolizes friendship across borders and integration. The church is a late Romanesque brick building with a late Gothic tower. It was built around year 1200; in the following centuries, the original church was extended with a nave and tower.
