Hall Place and Gardens is an absolute gem! From the moment you arrive, the staff greet you with such warmth and kindness, making the entire visit feel special. The miniature railway is a fantastic experience for children—watching their excitement as the little train chugs along is truly heartwarming. The food is another highlight—delicious, fresh, and beautifully presented. Whether it's a quick snack or a sit-down meal, there’s something to satisfy everyone. And the butterfly experience is simply magical! Walking among these stunning creatures in such a vibrant setting is unforgettable. Overall, Hall Place and Gardens is a wonderful destination for families, couples, and anyone looking to enjoy a relaxing and enriching day. Highly recommended!
I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Hall Place in SE London. It’s a beautiful spot to relax, with plenty of space to picnic along the river. The Queen’s Beasts topiary are a real highlight – quirky and impressive at the same time – and the historic house and gardens give the place a lovely character. There’s free parking which makes it easy to get to, and the café is decent for a bite to eat or a coffee. I also enjoyed seeing the owls and the butterfly house, which added something a bit different to the visit. Overall, a great mix of history, nature, and open space – well worth a visit.
I have been going to Hall Place since I was a child. It’s a beautifully kept set of green spaces from formal to more relaxed. The cafe which overlooks the water caters well for families. The mini train that is run by the local train society on Sundays from Spring to Autumn makes my child’s day each time we see it. The greenhouse current houses a butterfly feature which is magical. All well worth the visit.
I spent a sunny day at Hall Place & Gardens, and honestly, it’s such a relaxing spot. The open green space is huge — perfect for a walk, a picnic, or just lying back and watching the clouds drift by. The gardens are really well kept, with different areas to explore, from the walled gardens and old trees to the riverside walk along the Cray.
We had such a lovely day at Hall Place and Gardens! The butterfly garden was absolutely magical, and the apple orchard along with the many other fruit trees made exploring so much fun. The gardens are beautifully maintained, full of vibrant flowers, and perfect for a peaceful stroll. My kids loved exploring the grounds and discovering all the little nooks and play areas. The art gallery was a lovely addition, adding a creative touch to the visit. The atmosphere is calm and family-friendly, making it a great spot for a picnic or a day out in nature. A truly charming place to spend quality time outdoors! 🌸🌿☀️
Lovely, well maintained gardens. We visited the Butterfly House and it was amazing. It was so relaxing to see all the beautiful butterflies fluttering around. Will definitely return.
Hall Place is not far from me so I go there often. Parking is free, thus far. The gardens are free. The cafè can be a bit slow when busy, but the staff are always friendly. The topiary is a main feature in the grounds behind the house, and it's kept in excellent condition. Well worth a visit.
Brief flying visit. Loved the butterflies but didn't have time to enjoy the river walks. Cream tea was good value though.

Fantastic! Employee was very passionate and knew lots about butterflies. You could tell he loves his job. Bought tickets in Groupon, was there slightly late and was accomodated
Beautiful space, full of butterflies and great for buying indoor tropical plants too!
Fantastic place to spend time with a toddler. It is a nice add to Hall Place. We went in there three times in a day. The butterfly house is well organised, clean and has some benches where to take a break.
A must visit. Beautiful and stunning display. Also very knowledgeable plant specialists. Rare plant species and regular indoor and outdoor plants. Love it here.
Went to the Butterfly House today. As usual a thoroughly enjoyable experience. First I should clarify I visit purely for the plant centre. The butterfly house is fantastic but is only for visiting family. I never go here and come away with an empty shopping bag despite best intentions. This place seriously makes a dent in my finances. The prices are very reasonable but there are so many interesting plants. A real haven for plant enthusiasts. Plenty of less exotic plants to cover all tastes as well. The staff are always extremely friendly and helpful. They will source any plant on request if you so desire. I confess I am a plant geek. However the young man who man who manages this place is at another level. What knowledge! Today I left with Kangaroo Paw for my wife's tropical garden garden she was very impressed. What ever your gardening level well worth a visit.
We visited this lovely place today. What a gem. A beautiful small butterfly house with so much plants and butterflies. The owl house next doors give the opportunity to have a nose to beek experience with this fantastic birds and staff that are very knowledgeable. The garden centre is awesome for anybody having interest in unusual plants. And the park is beautiful and the coffee shop have pretty good menus. All in all we had a fantastic time visiting.
Our first visit to Hall Gardens and the plant shop with butterfly house. Staff are very friendly and it is wonderful to see the butterflies. You can get a crib sheet that helps you spot and identify the butterflies. The enclosure is small but they are very active and fun to watch. A number of plants for sale. We are no experts so can't comment on this.
Wonderful place, the staff are super friendly, so knowledgeable about the plants/butterflies and really care for the butterflies to. There are so many types of plants for sale and they give so much advice, I couldn't recommend here highly enough. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon.

First experience here and it exceeded my expectations! Firstly, thank you to Danielle and Ali for the kind and attentive service. We tried a range of small plates along with the burgers and all of the food was great. I also recommend the Getting Caught in the rain cocktail!
Came here for a bottemless brunch. I wasn't too impressed with the limited food menu, although the food was nice. There is not a particularly large vegetarian selection, which was slightly annoying. The bar staff were friendly, but the waitress seemed frustrated with all the drinks being ordered even though it was a bottemless brunch! The cocktails were very nice, though. It's a nice smart pub, and I'd come again, but just for drinks as I don't think the money you pay for a brunch is worth it
A lovely place in the prime Bexley village area. Staff are great, the atmosphere is lovely, toilets are very nice , overall a great place for a good, drinks and a good time. Maybe a little pricey as the bottomless brunch is £40-£49 pp which lasts two hours.
Second visit to the Tanyard Lane. First was a date, didn't fancy him but loved the warm friendly atmosphere and staff at the bar. Visited lady Friday for bottomless brunch and was again bowled over by friendliness and attentiveness of the staff, they really do make the experience. Good choice of tasty well cooked food with the brunch and 2 courses and no having to constantly call the waitress over for a top up. Highly recommend. Keep up the great work guys!
Another lovely evening at Tanyard Lane. If you’re looking for a bar with a nice friendly vibe, a mix of all ages and great service then this is the bar for you! Food was tasty and the cocktails are great ( these were extra good value between 5-7pm on the day we visited) However, what makes Tanyard stand out the most is its friendly efficient team. Highly recommended!
The perfect place to celebrate a special birthday with friends and family. Good food, free flowing bubbles and great cocktails 🍸 in a relaxed, fun venue. Thank you to the whole team for a wonderful afternoon.
Enjoyed a night out here. Had the tasty small plates, tenders and sweetcorn were yummy. Had a nice vibe and atmosphere. Bit difficult to talk to friends if you’re wanting more of a sit down thing - the music is loud (sound system needs the speech frequencies eq’d / notched out)
We really enjoyed ourselves, service was fantastic and food was great. When it was full it was quite loud, but this is what you expect when everyone is doing a bottomless brunch! Thanks for looking after us.

We had a lovely dinner at The Anchor Bankside and couldn’t have picked a better spot. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, with just the right mix of history and charm. The staff were friendly and attentive, making us feel right at home. Our meal was delicious, hearty, and perfect for the riverside setting. It’s a wonderful place to relax, enjoy good food, and soak up a bit of London’s character. We’ll definitely be back!
We loved this pub. So close to Shakespeare's Globe and with a wonderful view of the Thames. We ended up going there for drinks twice and for dinner once. The steak and ale pie and the sticky toffee pudding were so good.
This pub has a nice atmosphere and old world charm, the only let down was the food. I had the pie and mash and the mash was a disaster, had a glue like texture from being over processed. The wedge of cabbage as a side was average at best. My wife had the steak ciabatta and it was very average. Overall would recommend for drinks but not for food.
A Cozy Old Pub by the Thames This pub has such a charming, traditional atmosphere — super cozy and full of character. As tourists from Amsterdam, we really enjoyed the great beer and delicious food. The people here made us feel so welcome, and we had a good laugh with the regulars at the bar. This visit was truly one of the highlights of our trip to London! 🍻🇬🇧
The fish and chip is legit. Thin layer of crispy batter with solid fish meat inside. The seasonal crab burger is fried soft shell crab top up with their special spicy mayo and soft bun. Battered Halloumi is highly recommended as well. Service is attentive and the view from the rooftop garden is awesome.
Lovely place at the Thames with direct view if you sit outside. The fish & chips were great and both the food and drinks came fast. Good music as well!
Extremely disappointing! With reservations, we were tabled at an upper floor with no view. You're expected to walk downstairs to place your order at the bar, carry drinks to your table yourself, and they'll bring the food to you. Very confusing, and they really don't embrace the old-world atmosphere at all. Food was OK, but nothing special. Would not go back.
The Anchor Pub had been on my list to try while exploring London. It was on a couple lists I perused, I knew it had a rich history, and walking by it several times, the vibrant yet cozy exterior seemed to draw me in. The interior is similar to other pubs in the area. Plenty of small high tops, wooden bar counters, lively atmosphere, etc. There is also outdoors bankside/Thames River seating (and walkup bars). The staff behind the bar was nice and would offer up suggestions when prompted. The servers that brought us our food would not say a word to us, did not smile, and when we asked if we could have silverware they made us feel like it was all part of their plan to go back and grab some anyway. The food was mediocre at best. The fish & chips were nothing to write home about. There are far better fish & chips even within stones throwing distance. The sticky toffee pudding was nice, but they were out of ice cream so we had to make do with custard and vegan ice cream (I got 2 to try both options out). The steak and ale pie was a real let down. I had previously visited a couple other pubs where the pies were not only on point, they actually kind of blew me away. Anchor's pie was bigger, but it lacked flavor and the aged beef gave a lingering sour and salty taste. The ales were the typical ales you could find in any London Pub. I wish I had better things to say about the pub, but the ambiance was more loud and annoying than fun, the food was simply less than what I expected, and the staff was hit or miss in terms of quality service. If you're in the Tate Modern or Globe Theater area you can certainly swing by this pub, but you're actually so close to Burrough Market, and you should DEFINTELY check that out. And in terms of pubs, I would recommend the Red Lion Pub or Churchill Arms if you get a chance. Worth Noting: Pub Trivia lovers, the Anchor hosts a weekly Monday night pub trivia. I really wanted to attend, but unfortunately, I was busy that evening. Cheers!!

Another excellent stop off at the best brewery in Bexley! I guzzled a refreshing pint of their delightful ice cool anchor bay, before picking up 6 more pints to take home and sup in the garden.
Really good beer. Very friendly staff . Takeaway service only. Can do home delivery. Covid safe practices in place
Picked up a couple of Golden Acre Golden Ale's from Ruxley Manor's food hall. I must say - very very nice!!
Great ale friendly staff cosy and relaxing atmosphere will return to buy more ale and have a pint.
