It is very big botanical garden... Kids will enjoy lot... Boating also available. Flowers are beautiful.. old plants and different types of plants we can see in this park...
One hidden gem inside Sims Park is the Nilgiri Tea Stall, a government-run outlet that offers high-quality Nilgiri tea powders at very reasonable rates. Known for its rich aroma and refreshing taste, the tea here is a true reflection of the Nilgiri region's legacy. Being a government undertaking, the authenticity and quality are well-assured, making it a trustworthy place to pick up some tea for home or as a souvenir. The rates are fair, and the staff are usually helpful in guiding you with the varieties available. If you're visiting Sims Park, don’t miss this spot—it’s a perfect way to carry a bit of the Nilgiris back with you.
This is the loveliest place in our Ooty visit. It is very huge .The maintenance is very good. The walking trails are there. There is a boat house and children play area. There are rest rooms. The trees and lushy green lawns are very pleasant to watch. My grand child enjoyed very much here.
Beautiful Park to spend time with friends and Family. Parking is on road side which is chargeable too. A small pond with lot of variety of plants, trees and flowers. Awesome place to do some photography.
High Field tea factory is a popular spot visited by tourists. It mainly contains 2 shops - one selling various types of tea like regular tea, ginger tea and chocolate tea, oils, spices etc and the other where chocolates are made. Besides these 2 areas, there was a factory containing heavy equipment for processing tea. It is an interesting and pleasant place to visit.
Awesome place to come with family and friends, All age group friendly. Lots of variety of trees and plants. I could not resist taking lots of photos, few of them uploaded here. Must visit place if you touch coonoor. You can come by auto from coonoor railway station. Affordable price. I didn't see dedicated parking. So better come by auto. Ticket given at gate is also of food quality, I kept for my collection.
It's called Sims park, a beautiful garden in hectares with a great variety of birds in the mornings and flowers, boating and swings are there for kids..... with a great collection of old trees
This park is just amazing! Many beautiful 100 years+ old trees will surprise you. There’s a small Lake which is also beautiful, have some children play area and has boating facility. The park has many many levels of steps to go down and cherish the beauty throughout the garden. Must Appreciate the horticulture team who is best in maintaining it. Best place for nature lovers who would like to see different types of trees which can be rarely seen only in botanical gardens. Also they have installed water vending machine & it feels satisfying to drink the water after the good long walk in the park.

Nice, organised place and beautiful 360 views. You can stare at the waterfall and mountains for hours sitting here.
Amazing view, awesome climate on September, enjoyed well. Clear view of Catherine Water Falls. Passing clouds and view of tea estate is very nice. Carry your own food. Snacks are too cost. Monkeys are at high. Take care your bags and things.
Awesome view, but super crowded on weekends. The weather here is always excellent. In the monsoons, you'll be able to see a decent number of waterfalls, unfortunately we visited in summer. Watch out for touts trying to sell you "parking tickets" as parking here is free. The entry charge is also minimal, buy tickets at the counter only.
The way towards dolphins nose is really awsum. You will enjoy the ride. You can sit here and have a tea or coffee. There are many shops nearby . The entry fee here is 20. There are many monkeys. I have seen people buying chocolates and then the monkeys snatch it from them.so be aware of that fact. The view sometimes can be full of clouds but its worth it to go here. There is a viewpoint from where you can capture great pictures.
Place is surrounded by good scenic beauty.. the drive to this place is full of tea gardens and lush green trees and plants. The road is narrow and parking space is very less, so may take lot of time during peak season to reach this destination.
Very beautiful scenic place. U can see a narrow water fall on other side of view point. Beware of monkeys they stole food. If you are going during public holidays or season try to reach early else parking is a problem. This point is at dead end of road.
In dolphin nose you don’t have much thing to do and see. But you will definitely enjoy the drive to this place. It’s going through forest, tea estate, water falls and many more. Roads are maintained well and not commercialised at all. So we can enjoy the real beauty of nature in a chilled weather. There’s 5 tourists points on the way. So stop everywhere and enjoy nature. Go to this place in the morning or in evening, have fun with family and friends.
If you reach the place early in the morning (around 8-10 am) you'll get to see mesmerizing view throughout your journey. There are very narrow lanes at some points. Be careful. The view from Dolphin Nose is amazing. You should plan your trip after June so that you can see the Catherine Falls in its total beauty.

One of the UNESCO world heritage sites, located at Coonoor railway station.
Very nice place. Declared by the UNESCO as world heritage site. Coonoor steam loco shed has got the steam locomotives parked here and they have a diesel loco shed also. Steam locomotives hauls the nilgiri mountain train from Coonoor to Mettupalayam while the Diesel locomotives operates from Coonoor to Ooty. Must visit place. However the the staff at the ticket counter in Coonoor Railway Station are very rough and impolite.
Great place to view the historic steam locomotives not just standing but in action. Don't miss to visit the shed and repair place below.
Metre gauge steam locomotives which haul Nilgiri Mountain Railway trains in the rack section between Mettupalaiyam and Coonoor are homed here.

Such an awesome view from this place! Also so clean! There are small stalls outside just to catch up for a nice snack! Also beware… there are lot of moneys 😁
This place was called Lamb's rock by the then Collector Mr.E.B.Thomas, after one Captain Lamb who made earnest attempts to open a path to the place. The path is now paved with stones which are mostly slippery due to rainy season. Walk carefully. Ticket is ₹40 for adults. You can reach the top using one path and come down by walking on another path. This path is less steep. Mostly misty during rains. Limited view.
Superb Hills and valley view point with a good walking path covered in the shade of greenery. One can view the mist and cloud flow above the valley and covering the hills.. great place to spend around 2 hours in peace, walking and enjoying the beauty of the hills..40 Rs entry ticket for adults.. mobile phone network is low ..so UPI payments may get affected...cash in hand recommended for tickets and snacks...
Lamb’s Rock is one of the most spectacular lookout points in the Nilgiris near Coonoor. The panoramic views of the mist-clad valleys, tea plantations and the dramatic drop make it a must-visit for nature lovers and photographers. The pathway and viewpoint area are fairly well maintained, and the cool mountain air adds to the experience. If you’re in Coonoor, don’t miss spending some time here taking in the vistas and relaxing amidst nature. Highly recommended for a peaceful, scenic detour.
Scenic and beautiful place. Don't take guide as it's better to enjoy natural beauty and not worthy of spending much for a guide. You need to treak a little so will recommend take the route on right while going up as you will not get stairs to climb rather you only get stairs to come down.
🌄✨ Lamb’s Rock – The Queen’s Viewpoint of Coonoor! 🏞️🌿 Nestled in the scenic hills of Coonoor, Tamil Nadu, Lamb’s Rock is one of the most breathtaking viewpoints in the Nilgiris 🌺🌳. Narrow approach road crowded with vendors. Had to climb a lot of steps in a dense wooded forest. Had a good view.
This place is named Lamb's Rock after British Officer Lamb who developed this region as per our guide. You can take guide to visit this place as if you have limited time then guide can better help you cover all the important spots, I must say view is underwhelming and nothing special but trek is enjoyable and trail is full of trees through the jungle which is a wonderful experience. You can see the sleeping beauty viewpoint from here. Also entry fee collected here is used for development of local tribes hence I appreciate the cause. You must visit this place atleast once while visiting Conoor.

This tea factory is in Coonor and can be visited on the way when one goes from Coimbatore to Ooty. The entry tickets are nominal. There is a free guided tour available. The entire process of how the various types of tea are processed and how eucalyptus oil is prepared is explained by the guide. He mentioned all the primary details about white tea, black tea, green tea and normal tea. Patiently answered each and every question raised by us. The walk from car parking to the tea factory is just 5minutes and can be done easily by old people as well. There were 2 shops. One for tasting of different type of tea(included in the ticket) and handmade chocolate(free). We liked the Mango chocolate. We purchased white tea knowing about it's benefits and yes purity of products offered over there.
Highfield Tea Factory in Coonoor offers an insightful glimpse into tea production, though experiences vary. The guided tour is a highlight, with knowledgeable staff explaining tea processing stages, from leaf picking to drying and sorting. Visitors appreciate the tea tasting session, featuring unique flavors like masala, ginger, and chocolate tea. The factory also showcases eucalyptus oil extraction and chocolate-making, adding diversity to the tour. The scenic tea gardens provide excellent photo opportunities, and the on-site shop sells teas, oils, and chocolates.  While many enjoy the tasting samples, a few caution against purchasing shop items due to inconsistent quality and occasional staff rudeness. Practical details: Timings: 9:00 AM–6:00 PM daily (closed Mondays)67. Entry fee: ₹30 for adults, ₹20 for children. Though the experience is educational and visually appealing, temper expectations regarding factory operations and shop purchases. Ideal for first-time visitors seeking a compact tea estate experience in Coonoor
The way they explained everything and yes tasting was really good! Just that masala tea what I got there was not tasting the same as the packed one which I got home! They also have shopping place there if you want to buy something!
We had a great visit to Highfield Tea Factory! The tour was very informative – our guide walked us through the tea processing plant, the Nilgiri oil extraction unit, and even their chocolate-making section. It was a knowledgeable and engaging experience that gave us a deeper appreciation of the local products. At the end of the tour, we visited their sales shop and picked up a variety of teas and other items. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Coonoor!
This is truly a wonderful place to explore and spend some time. The setting itself exudes a warm and inviting atmosphere that encourages relaxation and enjoyment. Cardamom, with its unique and aromatic scent, lends a delightful flavor to the tea selections available here. Moreover, all the tea flavors offered are exceptional, each providing a distinct taste that caters to a wide range of preferences, ensuring that every visitor finds a flavor to enjoy.
Discover the secrets of making tea and learn how essential oils are extracted. Plan your breakfast and relaxation in a beautiful place with flowers and a clean environment. Don't forget to try the delicious dark chocolate available here, it's amazing!
The route towards the factory is a bit narrow but drivable. Parking is enough for around 8-10 cars The factory is very small and the tour is not vast but they give you tea tasting which is good . You can take pictures in the green tea plants near the factory for sure The guide comes along with you till the shop and almost wont leave you until you buy something so that's a bit annoying
Very nice and informative tour through the tea factory, oil destillery and chocolate manufacturing.

Beautiful place in Coonoor most of the people don't know about this place, yet it's not tourist place now but u can give some money and roam there. There are so many beautiful valley view on the way to Ralliah Dam.
Its remotely located.. there is no guard ( though gate is there) Its little secluded area so be little cautious with family. Overall a good view not a great view though
Drive was great, as get beautiful view of the valley and hills. House on the top are also very beautiful. However the road is very secluded and little scarry. Roads are also narrow. We couldn't find the way to the Dam.
Why would is 2023 nilagiri dam is so famous?
It is a small secluded dam to store rain water and reuse it. A narrow road through tea gardens can lead you to the dam. One can't reach up to the dam by car. you need to walk through rough terrain for a couple of meters. Overall it is a serene place for small visit.
Beautiful place to visit near Coonoor (OOTY, Tamilnadu) , Breathtaking sceneries , can find less people here as many doesn't know about this place , good picnic spot to spend time with your family and friends. People who likes to visit this place please carry thrash cover , do not litter the place.
Ralliah Dam is one of least visitors place in The Nilgiris. The dam was made during British ruling and its looks beautiful. The dam is inside the forest, so need to walk through the forest to reach there. The climate and lake makes the place beautiful. Some wild animals also seems there sometimes.
Rather a reclusive place as its not known to much people. It was serene and great place to spend quality time. Enthralled with the scenic views. Don't visit during dark hours. There's no sign to identify the place as well.

As you arrive, the first thing that strikes you is the calmness of the area, far from the typical tourist rush. The cool breeze and the serene waters reflect the surrounding hills, creating a picturesque setting that makes it feel like you’ve stepped into a painting. A leisurely walk along the well-maintained pathways around the lake offers plenty of opportunities to enjoy the scenic beauty and breathe in the crisp, fresh air. For those who enjoy boating, a peaceful paddle on the lake’s placid waters is an unforgettable experience. The gentle sway of the boat, coupled with the birds singing in the background, adds to the tranquillity. You can also sit by the lake, with your feet dipping into the cool water, and enjoy the quiet
Wellington Lake is a beautiful, clean, and peaceful spot perfect for a family outing. My kids loved the neat playground and had a great time playing, while we enjoyed a relaxing boating session. The lake is well-maintained and surrounded by greenery, making it a refreshing escape. We paid ₹280 for 4 adults and 2 kids, which covered the entry for boating and playground access—completely worth it for the fun and calm experience.
It was small and decent lake. It’s manage by Indian Army. You can do boating as well here you will see animals and bird's if you're lucky.
A well maintained lake by the army. There is boating and mice garden around the laake. There are many birds and ducks swiming in the lake. A good place to spens a nice time with family and kids.
Wellington Lake in Coonoor is a calm and picturesque spot with serene waters, tall trees, and refreshing breezes, making it an ideal place for a peaceful stroll, quiet relaxation, or simply enjoying nature’s soothing charm away from the usual tourist rush.
Wellington Lake is a lovely spot for a relaxed outing amidst nature in the Nilgiris. The surrounding lush green hills, calm waters, and light boating options make it a pleasant place to unwind. The walking paths are peaceful, and the sense of being away from the usual crowds adds to the charm. One thing to note: some areas around the lake appear less maintained and the water can look a bit muddy. All in all, if you have time, this lake provides a refreshing break and gentle nature experience during your Coonoor visit.
Beautiful and peaceful Lake in middle of the nature, parking is available, children play area, pedal boating available. Entry fee : 20 Rs. per adult Boating: 50 Rs. Per adult for 15 minutes ride

We booked the tea tasting experience and had a fantastic time. As relative tea novices it was great to have a complete masterclass in tea tasting, but also in understand the production of tea too. Sandeep was fantastic host and showed us around the estate and delivered our tasting session. Some of the teas we tried were available for purchase which we duly did - there was absolutely no expectation or pressure to purchase however. Absolutely recommend when in Coonoor, it has been a highlight of our stay. Thank you very much for hosting us!
Visited the estate for a tea tasting session. Absolutely loved spending time here walking through the tea estate. The tea tasting session was held by the owner of the estate himself who's a 4th generation tea estate owner. Extremely knowledgeable and very humble. The quality of the tea they sell is pretty good too. Ended up picking up a bag of tea
Amazing Airbnb style experience with a very warm and hospitable host. If you are looking for something 'non touristy' and authentic, then try this gourmet tea tasting experience. Tea tasting and knowledge of Teas in an amazing family owned tea estate. Highly recommend!
We visited for a tour of the estate and a tasting. It was absolutely wonderful. Sandeep was our guide for both the tour and the tasting. I can't recommend him enough. He's incredibly knowledgeable, clearly passionate about tea, and welcomes all questions. He walked us through the history of tea, showed us through the grounds, and then set up a tasting. The tasting experience was so fun. We tried 6 different teas and with the additional knowledge/context he shared earlier, the experience resonated so much more deeply. I say all of this as someone who drinks a handful of cups a year - my fellow travellers are more into tea and loved the experience.
A memorable, cosy afternoon tea, tea tasting and estate visit at Coonoor. This is an experience that the entire family can enjoy and very unique. Sandeep is a great host and passionate tea connoisseur. He pays attention to details and has curated this experience really well. Highly recommend this off beat experience to tea lovers.
This has been a wonderful experience. Sandeep was kind and passionate, everything went smoothly and the tea was exquisite. I would recommend this tea tasting to anyone who wants to taste exceptional products.
Sandeep, who owns this tea estate and who is a lovely host gave us an amazing tour. He not only educated in tea agriculture, but also gave us details of how a tea is produce. The tour ended with some exquisite hand crafted tea tasting. The hand crafted authentic tea tasting was an experience in itself. He also hosts an homestay in middle if that tea estate. One has to pre book the tour with online reservation. You can also purchase those hand crafted teas. A must recommend attraction when in Coonoor.
Two leaves and a bud - that's what it eventually boils down to! :) The Tea Tasting Tour at Tranquilitea was such immense learning, especially for an uninitiated tea sommelier like me. Did you know that tea is the 2nd most consumed drink, 2nd only to plain drinking water? Did you know that an acre grows about 5500 bushes? And that each bush yields 1 kg green leaf p.a. that results in 150-350 gm of tea? So, an acre yields between 800 - 2000 kg of tea per annum. Did you know that the US, a coffee drinking nation, is the fastest growing tea market in the world? Starbucks buying Teavana is not without reason! Did you know that 95% of the tea bush around the world is one of two types - Indian or Chinese bush? There are others too (e.g. Cambodian), but all other types make up only about 5%. Given that, it is amazing that there are more than 13,000 varieties of classical teas. Not the flavored ones, just the classical kinds. That is a lot-lot more than wine. Essentially,, it is what you do with the leaf that makes the difference. Btw, the tea "bush" is actually a tree. It is just managed like a bush to make it easy to pluck the leaves. The tea trees are very robust and can survive 3 months without water. They could be susceptible to red spider mite, but in general, no pests can destroy tea trees. 2 leaves and a bud is considered the gold standard for harvesting. The bud gives flavor while leaves lend body. The tea trees take 4 years to be ready to be pruned. When you hand pluck the leaves, the trees will be ready to be plucked again in a fortnight. When you prune using a machine, it takes 45 days. Tea is generally grown between 13 - 30 deg Celsius in a broad band (unlike coffee) of around 60 countries across the globe. The Nilgiris (Coonoor & Munnar) are the highest elevation in the world where tea is grown. Higher than that, you get snow. Btw, the Darjeeling first flush is considered the champagne of teas - the finest tea. Silver Tip tea is one of the rarest teas. Out of 200M kg of all tea produced, only 45 kg is silver tip. We had the pleasure of tasting silver tip tea among several other specialty teas @worldoftranquilitea. The host, Sandeep, did a fab job of taking us through the details and answering our questions extremely patiently. He had us listening to him with rapt attention as he waxed eloquent on how the specialty teas are processed. A lot to share, but let me not steal the thunder here. Besides tasting is believing! :) #worldoftranquilitea #tea #teatasting #coonoor #nilgiris

The fresh stock arrivals are very fantastic ,and very attractive Prices are very reasonable , affordable and competitive . The shop is situated in the heart of the town and reachable very easily. The sales staff is very pleased personality extending very good co-operations and hospitality to the customers Wish the shop for very good Business and prosperity for the long way
Visited the place on a super foggy day. Not a place where you would imagine finding a shop like this. They have a lot of ethnic handicrafts and items like bedsheets, cushions, dresses, drapes and other curios. Most of these are sourced from Delhi. While their collection is pretty unique amd quirky, the pricing is on the higher side. The staff are super polite and helpful.
My friends n me decided to shop at The Shop. They had pretty interesting things, all of us picked up table mats and napkins. I got a queen size rajai, but turned out to be a standard size. Too late to exchange as we left Conoor. It compensated for the beautiful color n design.
The items in the shop are really good in terms of print and variety. The shop assistant Rajeshwari is very helpful and so is also the owner who is running the shop. I felt few things were slightly over priced. But they are giving a boost to local produce and products and this effort needs be lauded.
Reasonably priced, earth friendly, colourful stuff for home and wear. Picked up lovely cushions for my garden swing, table linen in flowery bright prints and soft cotton kurtas and caftans. It’s a one stop shop in Coonoor for home and personal stuff.
The collection available in the shop are fabulous and fantastic and very attractive .The staff is kind enough and co _operative. And all so extending hospitality
Reasonable price pretty collections and items like bedsheet ,table mates, are very nice the staff is very helpfull .
