Picturesque gorge offering sightseeing trails, waterfalls, cliffs & seasonal rhododendron blooms.

Great nature spot for walk or hiking, there is a cool Damn there too with beautiful blue water below. Free parking available on top of damn area or bottom of walk. We went during fall season so the trees were colorful and it's worth checking out for sure. At the top of the damn there is a coffee shop and a couple crepe vendors and soft serve ice cream too.
It’s a short walk from the parking lot and the scenery is beautiful. If you look carefully you will see huge colorful spiders.
Came on a weekday and there was barely anyone around!! Super beautiful & magical. But the area is quite small, it’s about a 15 minute walk around then down to the bridge. But there seems to be a few hike trails so you can explore further if you’d like. Much more beautiful in person, sunny day, autumn leaves falling 🍂
Lovely gorge. You can walk along the path next to the road and explore the side detours like Yamba Dam and various bridges. In autumn, there is a kan-etsu bus that runs the route from Iwashima Station to Yamba Dam with stops along the way (300 yen per trip). Stopped by the roadside station to dip in the public onsen as well.
Stunning gorge with water that looks almost jelly-like in color.
If you're in the area already it's worth a stop. It's quite lovely. We were heading to the Snow Monkey Park and wanted to get there as early as possible (since in the late afternoon the monkeys leave the park) so we just had a quick visit to the gorge. But I would have loved to stay longer and hike a bit more.
Beautiful waterfall and landscapes. Red leaf not yet in full , probably even more stunning after a week or two. Please be reminded if you drive certain section is prohibited and only allow walking through .

Great nature hike. Castle stamp is at the information station at the base of the hiking trail which is just a little ways up from the parking lot.
(Translated by Google) There is a tourist information center near the entrance to Iwahashi Castle, and there are pamphlets available, so be sure to grab one before heading to the castle. I knew there was a lot to see, but unfortunately there was thunder and the weather looked like it was going to turn bad, so I hurried to see all the way to the main enclosure. The castle ruins are full of highlights such as the earthworks of Kuruwa, the ruins of the turret, the moat, and the horikiri. Although it is not large in size, it is the ruins of the castle where Masayuki Sanada tried to bring Katsuyori Takeda and plan to start the castle. Also, there are many benches, so it was a castle ruin that I would like to visit on a nice day.

While only a few remains are clearly visible today, the castle's layout makes it truly impregnable. The Agatsuma River and Mt. Iwabitsu serve as natural fortifications, and to reach Iwabitsu Castle, one must breach defensive structures such as Yanagisawa Castle and Tengu-no-maru. Below the main citadel are numerous central castles, water enclosures, and stepped enclosures, and vertical and horizontal moats strengthen the defenses. We also climbed Mt. Iwabitsu, and the natural fortifications became clear when we climbed. After descending the mountain, we stopped by the tourist information center and received a map of the castle's layout in preparation for our return climb in the fall. The staff at the tourist information center were also very kind and explained everything to us. Other attractions include the remains of Deurabuchi, a Sanada ninja, and Senryuin, the remains of the mansion where Sanada Masayuki briefly visited to welcome Takeda Katsuyori, making this a castle that history and castle enthusiasts will love. There are vending machines, so don't forget to make sure you have plenty of water before you start climbing. You'll be climbing up a vertical moat to the main enclosure, so it can be slippery. Be sure to choose the right shoes. Stay safe! The parking lot in front of the information center is large, but there is no shade in the hot season, so the inside of the car is like a sauna when you return. At the information center, you can get various tourist pamphlets about the area, and there are also vending machines. The toilets were also very well maintained. There are two routes to the Iwabitsu Castle ruins, the ridge route and the valley route. The ridge route was a little over 10 minutes (with a lot of elevation change) on the way there, and the valley route was about 5 minutes (easy to walk on). This is a bear habitat, so it is recommended to bring a bear bell. If you wear comfortable shoes, there is almost no mud, but the grass is overgrown, so if you have sensitive skin, you may not be recommended to wear long sleeves and long pants. However, the mountain path is well maintained, and the scenery and mountain appearance are quite beautiful. If you have the time and stamina, you can also go to Mt. Iwabitsu and enjoy mountain climbing. During the Sengoku period, the Saito clan, who sided with the Uesugi clan, and the Sanada clan, who sided with the Takeda clan, fought over it, eventually losing it to the Sanada clan and abandoning it in the early Edo period. It's a nationally designated historic site. From Hirasawaguchi, follow the ridge course. Continuing on, you'll see a sign at a fork in the road that reads "The Site of the Main Citadel." With a bit of fortitude, you'll arrive at the site of the main citadel. Your eyes will be captivated by the numerous remarkable remains, even more so than you'd heard. The vast site of the main citadel features a gazebo, information boards, and signposts. Oak trees and other trees grow here and there, and a particularly huge fir stands tall, but for some reason, it's dead. (Translated by Google) I learned about this tree on a trip in June a dozen years ago. I only saw it from the sidelines while driving, so I didn't know the name or location of this tree. A few years later, I happened to be featured on a travel program and found out the name and location, and I wanted to go there right away, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, I couldn't go, so I was finally able to go the other day. With its quiet appearance, it felt like an entrance to the world of Totoro. I'm overwhelmed with emotion. (Translated by Google) An old cedar tree on the grounds of Totto Shrine along National Route 145 in Yagura, Higashiazuma Town. Because there is a cedar tree that is about 250 years old inside the hollow, it is also called the parent-child cedar tree. It is said that the giant tree on the outside was hand-planted in this area by Yamato Takeru no Mikoto long ago during his conquest of Toi, and is estimated to be 1,400 years old. This is just a legend, and the exact age of the tree is unknown. In 1742 (Kanpo 2), a traveler heading to Kusatsu lit a bonfire inside a large cedar tree, which caused a fire. He escaped death from the fire, but was left half-dead. During the Tenmei eruption of Mt. Asama in 1783 (Tenmei 3), Osugi was engulfed by a large amount of lava flow and most of it was burned to death. The chief priest of Ryutoku-ji Temple at the time, Enshin Osho, cut off the top of the large cedar tree at the risk of his own safety and said, ``I want to preserve it for posterity.'' Afterwards, local Burakumin at the time tried to plant cedar saplings in the hollow several times, but they died. After much trial and error, it is said that it took root by transporting black soil from the Sasahara Plateau by horse and planting cedar saplings higher than the outer bark. The world's first expansion project in 1996 (Heisei 8) of the national highway? I wonder if it's fair to call it an unprecedented, state-of-the-art technology. After the Jindai cedar was separated into front and back sections during the relocation work, the outer skin of the large cedar was transferred to the cedar at the rear while being fixed with steel blocks. The old small cedar that was inside the cavity was cut down. Some of the fallen roots are still kept in the worship hall of the shrine. Additionally, the current Kosugi tree is the second generation, and the tree is in good shape with no problems and the top of the tree is overgrown. However, a few years ago, the upper part of the tree was brutally cut down, leaving it in a completely changed shape, and it is a shame that there is no trace of what it once was. It seems that it was almost withered at the time of the Tenmei eruption, but the temple's chief priest somehow saved it by cutting off the top to protect it from mudslides in order to preserve it for future generations. Even after that, the parishioners apparently had a great deal of trouble growing cedar from inside this armor-like gawa. Although the road has been widened in recent years, this large cedar garden will continue to be loved by the local community. We walked down the road about 100m to the trailhead and started climbing. At first, we walked along a slightly sloping trail covered with fresh greenery. Azaleas were blooming here and there, and it was very beautiful. The main trail was a ridge path covered with forests and trees. At the end, the view finally opened up and we could see the surrounding scenery. From there, it took about 5 minutes to reach the summit. The peak of Mt. Asama was hidden by clouds and we couldn't see it, but we could enjoy the majestic mountain scenery. The summit was not very wide, and there were a few trees, so there was no 360-degree view. There was only one white stone chair, so I thought we needed a seat to rest. On the way down, there were many steep sections with small stones, so we had to be careful not to slip. (Translated by Google) I climbed the mountain from the Nidokami Pass entrance in mid-September 2025. There was a parking lot and a portable toilet at the trailhead. If the parking lot is full, there is a wide road at the trailhead where several cars can be parked. The standard time is 1 hour 30 minutes, but I climbed slowly, taking 1 hour 50 minutes. The climb was zigzag, so I was able to climb at a leisurely pace without getting tired. Unfortunately, there were clouds so the view was not good. I also climbed the mountain from the Asamagakure Onsenkyo trailhead about 10 years ago, but this trail is much tougher. I think it's an easy mountain to climb.

The weather was good and we could even see Mt. Fuji. Less than 4 hours round trip. It seems to be a popular mountain, so I arrived at 10am and couldn't park in the first parking lot, so I parked in the second parking lot. Tour buses also come during the high season. The second parking lot has a step, so please be careful as regular cars may scrape underneath. The view from the summit is great, so next time I'd like to go and see the sunrise. It was around mid-May, but there were many flower buds, so it looks like they will bloom soon. I usually go to Mt. Mitake in Okutama to see the Rengeshouma flowers, but this time I went to Mt. Asamagakure. The Rengeshouma flowers on Mt. Asamagakure are all beautiful. Rengeshouma flowers grow in clusters near the trailhead along the Naganohara-Kurabuchi Line on Prefectural Route 54, and on the uphill switchbacks not far from the start of the trail. It had been raining until the early hours of the morning, so it was extremely humid, and the view was obscured by the fog, but I was able to enjoy the flowers. I also noticed that there was no triangulation point, and it turned out that the stone lying on the summit was the triangulation point stone. I had left my luggage there thinking it was a bench, so excuse me. Very nice location for experiencing strawberry picking in a Japanese greenhouse. 30min all you can eat for 2200 yen. Received greenhouse rule introduction in good english.
It is one of my favorite memories in my recent trip to Japan! The strawberries were very sweet and juicy. One of the rules is to eat all of those that you plucked, and do not touch the strawberry unless you intend to have it. I especially love the condensed milk, it is my first time eating strawberry with it. Perfect dessert. Thank you for the fun time and great rules!
I recently visited a strawberry farm, and while the fruit itself was decent, the overall experience left much to be desired. The farm’s rules were not clearly explained in English, which led to some confusion on my part. Unfortunately, instead of handling the situation with understanding, a staff member reprimanded me in a condescending and patronizing manner. The tone was unnecessarily harsh and felt out of place in Japan, where hospitality is usually a priority. A more polite and constructive approach would have made the visit far more enjoyable. As it stands, I left feeling unwelcome, which was disappointing.
Had the best strawberry picking experience here. As expected, the berries were bright red, juicy and sweet. I only ate about 30 but I wish to have eaten more. The farm itself is located in a charming craft village about 2.5-3 hrs away from Tokyo. Best to spend a night or two, but a daytrip is possible. Aside from the strawberry picking, the house itself has a cafe and is near other local shops specializing in crafts such as udon, paper masks etc. Don't worry if your Japanese is not good, the staff are very helpful and friendly. Google translate is your best friend.
A nice strawberry farm. Well organized and clean. They offer in farm self picking all you can eat Strawberry within 30 mins. Not sure I didn't go to this arrangement for long time (before COVID) or this place is really good but it is really good LoL
A very cool thing to enjoy with a strawberry smoothie! The young guys are great, they came up with a very tasty recipe for hot sandwiches with strawberries and mozzarella cheese, with strawberries and apples😋. High quality milk. BRAVO! 👍👏
Amazing!! So easy to get to, and so many strawberries!! The berries are fantastic—stellar even by japan’s high standards. They do have English speaking staff and there’s a bus from the station. I’ll definitely be back.
We can enjoy much! Close to “Michi no eki”.
