Amazing trail running in the summer !
This place is for skiers only, not for snowboarders. As we are with small children, we only played with sleds. Playing in their "wanpaku hiroba" is free. Different kinds of sleds are rent free.
(Translated by Google) The largest ski resort in the Lake Shirakaba area. About 20 minutes from Lake Shirakaba. The first parking lot is concrete, but the second is gravel, so be careful in spring. It's the best ski resort ever. If you're good at snowboarding, it's a great place to have fun. However, it's not suitable for beginners, and skiers can go too fast, so be careful. There's often woods next to the lifts, so it looks like it's strong against crosswinds, and the view from above is so beautiful that it makes you want to come back. I wonder if it'll be combined with Echo Valley. If they created a day where you could only ski, I'm sure the long-time repeat customers would be satisfied...
(Translated by Google) I often went there because the view was great and the slopes were relatively empty. The restaurant halfway up the slope is always crowded, so I always use the rest house near the kids' park, in the parking lot. Although it is an area with little snowfall, temperatures drop to -10~18°C at night in winter.
(Translated by Google) Snowboarding will be allowed from the 2025-2026 school year. In advance of this, snowboarding will be allowed on a trial basis from March 17, 2025. So, on the Vernal Equinox, March 20, I went snowboarding. There is a gentle course for beginners at the base of the mountain. There is a course for intermediate and advanced skiers around the middle of the mountain, so if you can ski, it is better to park in the second parking lot. Please be careful, as you cannot get to the second parking lot in a 2WD when snow accumulates. I think there were a lot of people skiing. However, the course was quite long, so I was able to ski without worrying too much about the population density. There were five lifts in operation, including a long one, so I was able to have a great time. There was a wide variety of courses, including moguls, ungroomed sections, and waves. When you get off the top lift, you can look around from the top of the mountain. Only Mt. Tateshina and Mt. Kuruma are open and pleasant. It's not well known, as snowboarding only accounts for about 10% of the visitors. Also, this ski resort is a member of the Snowbirds Club, so if you have a season pass from another ski resort that is also a member of the Snowbirds Club, you can ski at half price.

Where's the snow? It's late January, early February and they're still using the man-made stuff here. This place is legit in a valley so the elevation might not be high enough to get good snow, but it still should have some. The conditions were horrible for snowboarding and if you wipe out your ass will surely be hurting the next day! Avoiding this place if at all possible... there are many many other places much better in Nagano. Also the staff at the bottom lifts are "ticket Nazi" making me show my ticket EVERY TIME I went up...really?!? I'm literally the only American out here...can't you use some common sense?!
(Translated by Google) There's no snow this year ⛄ It can't be helped... only 3 lifts were operating! The one for advanced users was not working! However, the weather was nice and I was able to enjoy skating without getting cold. It's quite icy because there's no snow. It was very skinny and scary for me. My companion was disappointed that there were not many lifts... I used Restaurant Echo. It was nice to be able to take a break. There was a wide variety of rice on the menu and the prices were reasonable. The taste was delicious. The cutlet is quite thick and voluminous. I'm very satisfied. Please try it.
(Translated by Google) Echo Valley Ski Resort has been closed since the COVID-19 pandemic, but the parking lot is open and can be used for mountain hiking in spring, summer, and autumn. Please take your trash home with you and do not cause any trouble as we will be using the parking lot. If you are coming from Tokyo, it is quicker to get off at Okaya Interchange on the Chuo Expressway, go through the Wada Tunnel, which has been free for several years, and then go via the Village at the base of the Blanche Takayama Ski Resort. In particular, the Echo Valley Ski Resort's second parking lot is convenient for hiking, as it can be accessed higher than the first parking lot. Even during the season when the Japanese buttercups are in full bloom and the Venus Line in Kirigamine is jammed with traffic, you can enjoy a quiet hike by climbing from here. If you go north on the forest road from the second parking lot, you will soon be impressed by the graceful appearance of Mt. Tateshina on the slopes. After that, you can reach the watershed ridge at Kita no Mimi in Yamahiko Valley via Mt. Ozasa. Alternatively, you can reach the watershed ridge at Kurumayama Norikoshi via Mt. Tonoue. In particular, on the 10th, the powder snow that had been falling since the night before stopped almost as soon as the lifts opened, and after that, the wonderful blue sky continued until the evening, making it the best skiing in terms of weather and slope conditions ヽ(^0^)ノ As long as the weather is good, it's not crowded, the slopes are wide, and there are slopes that both advanced and beginner skiers can enjoy, making it a highly recommended ski resort. The staff was also very laid back lol [Pony riding] My 3 year old daughter experienced this. Although he seemed scared, he stroked the pony's head after riding. [Milk milking] Before we milked the cows, a female staff member took about 5 minutes to seriously explain the difference between dairy cows and meat cows, and how cows are economic animals and what kind of life they lead. It's a great experience for adults to reaffirm the importance of life and enjoy milking milk. We received points for each experience, and we were able to get two glasses of milk at the cafeteria. The farm's Ayu specialist explains the steps carefully and thoroughly in a chant-like voice, but he also throws in some great humor, making the preparations fun. One thing I learned from catching Ayu is that once you corner the fish, it's a battle of strength between man and fish, and after cornering it a few times, it becomes immobile and is surprisingly easy to grab. There are many other activities to enjoy, including horse riding and goat walks. Adding to the fun is the system where you can get a free glass of fresh milk for every three tickets you buy. In March 1861, there was a large fire and the main building was destroyed. It is said that it was hurriedly rebuilt as a place to stay when the Imperial Princess Kazunomiya visited in November of the same year. Additionally, this building is the living quarters where the owner of the Honjin lives (the tatami room where the feudal lords stayed was apparently relocated to Ryugao-ji Temple in Ueda City). However, there are several fine tatami rooms (the Sunako wallpaper is beautiful), and the upper toilets are also splendid. There are also exhibits of documents related to Princess Kazu's visit and the fixtures used. The staff were also kind and explained things to me. The streets of Wada-juku have been preserved, and you can feel the Edo period by walking around. I can say it is recommended. At Wadajuku Station, fried rainbow trout, a specialty of Nagawa Town, as well as oyaki and bean mochi made at the station's processing plant are particularly popular. (Translated by Google) This is a compact historical museum with free admission. Personally, I was glad to be able to see a replica of the Warabi-te Katana from the Kofun period.

Admission is free, but the exhibits focus on folklore materials from the Jomon period to the Kofun period and the early modern period, so you'll be done viewing them in no time.
(Translated by Google) A few years ago, a final sewage treatment facility was constructed about 800 meters north of Shishi-no-Sato Plaza, and the Nagawa-no-Sato History Museum was built on top of the underground facilities. The building is built in the style of a white-walled storehouse, and inside it displays a variety of large and small folk implements and fixtures that tell the history of the lives of the people in the neighborhood, as well as a collection of historical documents and materials. Before I started researching the area, I visited the museum and consulted with them, asking them simple questions and receiving a lot of kind advice from them.

(Translated by Google) I think it's a good place to get tourist information. Local souvenirs are lined up. I was able to buy one piece of Nagato's famous confectionery quince. The red bean paste and kakareteimasu are like Sendai's Hagi's moon-shaped sponge with jam rather than sweet quince. It's probably a matter of taste, but I didn't buy it as a souvenir to take home.
