Amazing fairy tale place! The guided tour it makes even more interesting! The cottage is amazing from inside out! Defo recommend to visit! Hidden gem!
I can’t stop thinking about this place. The moment we reached the Swiss Cottage after a peaceful walk through the park, it felt like we had stepped into a dream — like time slowed down and we were invited into a quiet, magical world from another era. I’ve honestly never seen anything like it. That wavy thatched roof, the carved woodwork, the romantic little windows… everything is so beautifully and intentionally whimsical. And the interior? Pure poetry — especially those rare Parisian wallpapers and the elegant spiral staircase. Every room whispers a story. It’s not just architecture — it’s an emotion. A place designed simply for beauty, music, laughter, and tea… I keep daydreaming about sitting on that veranda, sipping tea, and watching the trees sway in the breeze. I think I left a little piece of my heart there. A true architectural miracle that I’ll never forget.
Definitely recommend at least one time to see this - Cottage is quite beautiful. I had a guided tour, good to hear stories about the cottage - Staffs were very welcoming and polite. - Free car Parking - i felt so greenery and peaceful. Because surrounding was so peaceful and so much greenery.
The cottage is absolutely beautiful. We did the self-guided tour which was enough for us. You can’t get inside the cottage, but you can still see the rooms on the ground floor through the windows and there’s pictures of the 2 rooms on the first floor so you don’t really miss out on much. The staff were very friendly and helpful!
Really interesting tour about restoration of cottage, history of the house & previous owners. Would recommend. Nice grounds surrounding. Parking nearby, 10 min walk from carpark.
Absolutely stunning. What a hidden gem. Well informed welcoming tour guide. Tastefully restored and beautifully preserved. Can't believe I've missed it in the forty plus years I've visited Cahir
Absolutely beautiful place! Worth to see, specially inside. Great guide, lots of interesting details. Really nice to see place like this touched with care and love. Highly recommend to visit!
This was our first visit to this OPW site and unfortunately didn’t have time to wait for the next scheduled tour time of the interior of the home. Just walking around the grounds, taking in this unique style of home was well worth our stop.

Great dog friendly (indoor) pit-stop en route from Dublin to Limerick. Service was excellent, they were so busy and kitchen had to temporarily closed due to rush but the staff were incredible and had it open again soon enough, and food was delicious! Went for the Pulled Pork sandwich, and had flapjack to keep me going while kitchen was closed - both very tasty! Highly recommend if passing through Cahir!
The motorcycle is five stars by default. The breakfast was amazing, I was barely able to finish it.
I visit on regular occasions with family or friends for breakfast and lunch. The welcoming from the staff is lovely and the food and service is excellent.
Delightful quirky cafe. Old wood, cozy corners and a hanging motorcycle combined with great comfort food.
Great cafe to stop in for lunch when you are in the area. 2 min walk from Cahir Castle right in the main square. We had the sandwiches that came with crisps, salad and coleslaw, as well as a couple of drinks and pastries. Everything was delicious and had a beautiful presentation. I love the atmosphere, very interesting old world mixed with modern touches. If I lived in the area I would make it my go to place since it had far prices as well. Staff was extremely nice and we had a good chat with them. 10/10
The halloumi salad was so delicious I had it for lunch two days in a row. Really lovely addition to Cahir’s dining options!
Would recommend 100 percent, excellent. Fabulous friendly staff, atmosphere relaxing and lovely, welcomed us and our two dogs 😍 only called in for hot chocolate and coffee after walk and dog biscuit but will definitely be back to try the food as it looks tasty.thank you.
Went to Irwins with my partner and our 3 month old for some food and drinks. From the moment you walk in the atmosphere is amazing and the staff cannot do enough for you.

There is a really good art exhibition on upstairs which is centred around well known people from the horse racing industry. Fantastic portraits of people like Tracey Pigott, Michael O Leary, etc. Well worth a visit. Downstairs the gift shop has a range of items to suit all purses and there's 10% off offer on at the moment. Staff are excellent really helpful.
Fantastic little shop the staff would not encourage you to buy anything had 120 Euro worth of bits at counter on Thursday lady at counter was pathetic too lazy to get off the chair, customers seemed like a nuisance to whatever she was reading this would be 5 star + if you employed somebody with a bit of enthusiasm, or even a pulse.
Very expensive and only the deal bin makes sense. I was expecting more in the store, the walls were a little barren.
Love it there lot of art had some lovely

Small farmers’ market. Worth it for the morning snacks. There is even a place to sit and enjoy your coffee. Small veggie section, but more than plenty for personal needs. They even have a fish monger. Highly recommend, come and support your local community.
🧀 The best stop at Cahir market? The cheese stall! I honestly didn’t expect to be able to taste so many different cheeses — and all for free 😍 One reminded me of young parmesan, another was a delicate blue cheese that just melted in my mouth. The vendor was happy to explain each type — where it’s from and what it pairs well with. It was lovely not to feel rushed and to really take the time to choose what I liked. I walked away with a piece of aged Irish cheese and a basket full of inspiration 🙌 This is exactly why I love farmers’ markets — delicious, soulful, and always full of surprises! 💛
Really pleasant. We came across it on accident during our journey across Ireland. Good mix of local consumables and other products. Even had a stand dedicated to animal treats, which we always appreciate seeing as dog owners.
Lovely van here offering gluten free baked goods, so tasty! They also offer tea, coffee, and hot chocolate. Great little spot for coeliacs! I believe they are called May's and Kay's Kitchen.
Small Saturday morning mostly food market. Good fresh fish from very knowledgeable fishmonger. Farm and organic vegetable stalls both quality produce at competitive prices. Local fruit and juices and home bakes. Worth a visit. Occasionally music a bonus.
Great place to buy fresh veg, fruit and cakes. Fine fish, beautiful flowers and handcrafted goods too. Have a walk to the swiss cottage while your there. Best place to be on a fine Saturday morning.
Everything about it was beautiful... The village, people, and goods available. We hope to come back again!
Good market for locally sourced produce. Good quality at a fairly price.
