Romanesque church founded in 1066, with a 13th-century Gothic-style crucifix & ornamental stonework.

Beautiful Romanesque church. The audioguide is very recommended! Adds a lot for the visit and only a euro.
A great place to end the day's walking or in our case cycling. The church is a well maintained building in the Plaza St Martin. Take your time and walk around and have a quiet look at it.
Iconic in the town. Dating back to 1066, built over 20 years. Impressive, plain exterior but I expected more inside. Very beautiful and “minimalist”. Do notice the carved “capitals” on the column ends. Also the “beam heads”, 309 figures of various representations of vegetable, animal, monsters and human. A €1 entrance “fee”
This is the most beautiful example of romanesque building I have seen in the whole of Europe. The church has so many details in stone masonry that you need some time to enjoy it fully.
Iglesia de San Martin de Fromista, aka The Church of San Martin in Fromista on the Camino Frances is a great example of Romanesque architecture. Originally built in 1066.
This hotel ticks every box on the Camino - the food is superb, room clean and the hopitalero outstanding. Great people make great places! Gracias- Fatal-bananas
Exquisitely restored Romanesque church.
Outstanding Romanesque church. Extraordinarily well restored. Easily accessible through a convenient highway. A must if you are visiting the province of Palencia. It surpassed my expectations, which were high already.

This is a hike you must do. Great views along the canal to enjoy a peaceful and insightful walk.
The lock visit has a certain interest. It coincides with the route indicated by the Camino de Santiago. Also on the same site is the Frómista Information and Tourism Office.
An interesting stop on the Camino for a break before reaching Fromista
You may find yourself in this part of the world, and you may ask yourself how did I get here? 😳 But if you're stuck for nice things to look at, you can do far worse than this place. Parking on site and an information centre that I'm sure is open long enough to check the box for state funding
Amazing work of engineering. Running over 200 km. through the province of Burgos, the Canal of Castile was built over 200 years ago to carry goods. A must see spot during your camino at the entrance to Frómista.
An interesting Canal with a series of falls to a lower level. There are barges at the upper level that must be navagatable. Worth a look at.
A beautiful canal to cycle or walk beside, as it’s on the Camino Way. The cascade of water through the “locks” look lovely from the roadside.
The Camino follows Canal de Castilla, crossing at this lock.

Wonderful monument of medieval culture and architecture. There are Museum of medieval gothic art. Highly recommended for your visit. Admission to the church is free but any donation is welcomed and highly appreciated. You need by a ticket to get in museum. Visitors are allowed to take non commercial photo without flash light and tripod.
A small little church in Fromista nearby where we spent the night while walking the Camino de Santiago. This little church had a beautiful altar piece.
Impressive old church.
(Translated by Google) The church and museum of San Pedro is really very interesting. Mainly the Flemish art paintings that were stolen by a "character" of Belgian origin and that fortunately were rescued with the exception of one. The church, like many Catholic churches of antiquity, took almost 400 years to be completed and therefore various types of architecture are seen in its construction. It is well worth visiting and taking the time to see the paintings in detail.
(Translated by Google) Fromista is a small town with less than 1,000 inhabitants, on the French Camino de Santiago, and here are the churches of San Pedro and San Martino di Tours. With a single ticket you can visit both and the man who sells it to us only briefly describes the first, leaving us with the surprise of the second. San Pedro is a bit Gothic and a bit Renaissance; inside a museum area shows fragments of altarpieces and some wooden statues, including the valuable and emotionally suggestive one of St. Agatha. All around there is a coming and going of pilgrims on foot and by bicycle who make a midday stop.

It also houses an interesting museum of sacred art. It is part of the guided Romanesque tour in Fromidtan, although it can also be visited independently. (Translated by Google) A church that's part of the Romanesque complex in Frómista. I wasn't able to visit it and saw it on my own, so I can't speak with complete knowledge of its context. From the outside, I liked San Martín Church better, although admission is free and the museum fee applies. The model of the locks inside is interesting, by the way.

(Translated by Google) Amazing. I found the way of presenting the history of the city using the church as a backdrop very original. In a town with so much heritage that can afford to sacrifice a church to present another history, it is undoubtedly worth it and is completely recommended. (Original) Sorprendente.
(Translated by Google) Beautiful show by Vestigia and a shame about the theft by Erik the Belgian, who deprived future generations of the enjoyment of the altarpiece. Of this wonder of a Church. It's also a shame that they don't let you see capitals, nave or anything and the person in charge of pressing the button, from the Vestigia show, seems to be in a hurry and is throwing you out of there. A shame.
(Translated by Google) It is CLOSED. Fourth time I come and closed. The schedule that appears on Google as of today is not real. Without any information on the door either. Not a Qr, not a phone, not a Schedule... Total lack of coordination. As I already imagined. This time before going I called the Palencia tourist office to ask for the schedule of today's screenings. I came at 1:00 p.m. and what did I find? CLOSED0. Better to open it only in summer. A minimum of consistency please. Information on the door I never saw. After the call gymkhana. It goes with reservation!! And it's only for groups. If there are two of you, then no. (Original) Está CERRADA. Vine a 13h y qué me encontré? CERRAD0. Mejor poner abierto solo en verano. Un mínimo coherencia por favor. Información en la puerta nunca vi. Tras la gincana de llamadas. Va con reserva!! Y es solo para grupos. Si sois dos pues no.
(Translated by Google) Pretty on the outside. Today, Friday, January 31, 2025, we are waiting at Frómista since noon. 16:50, waiting since 16:30 and still closed. It's a shame they don't follow the announced schedules.
(Translated by Google) I wasn't lucky enough to see it open, but the outside was relatively nice. Being in the center of town, it is not far from the other monuments so it is easy to get to it. The state of conservation can be improved, let's wait for future actions (Original) no tuve la suerte de verla abierta, pero el exterior era relativamente bonito. al estar en el centro del pueblo, no dista mucho de los otros monumentos por lo que es sencillo llegar hasta ella. el estado de conservacion es mejorable, esperemos acciones futuras
(Translated by Google) The church houses the audiovisual exhibition Vestigia del Camino De Santiago. It is very successful and recreates Frómista's relationship with the Camino and its historical importance. At the end he gives an explanation of the panels that made up the altarpiece of this Church, stolen by Erick the Belgian, and which once recovered are exhibited in the Museum of the Church of San Pedro in this same town.
(Translated by Google) It seems like a deception to me; a very poor light show and on top of that €3. If it at least served to maintain the church, it would still have some logistics but you don't have to see anything more than the grassy façade to understand that it is just a business.
