Spectacular to walk around the caves and to see row after row of Roquefort cheeses. Our tour was French and a bit too fast for us to understand much but the guide told us to ask her in English afterwards. We also received a text in English explaining what she talked about. Also there was a film with English subtitles. The tasting afterwards allowed us to taste the difference between the three types of Roquefort cheese, mainly differing in strength and creaminess. We bought some together with a freeze pack to allow us to bring it in the car and to the hotel.
Interesting to see the ancient caves however the only cheese making you will see is in the marketing video you watch at the beginning of the tour. I was looking forward to seeing cheese at different stages of production and ageing. You may possibly see a few cheeses in one of the rooms near the end of the tour. When you do reach the end other the tour you get to taste three cheeses. The shop sells cheese at quite infatuated prices and some expensive souvenirs are available. There is an exhibition of historical photos that are quite interesting too. The old souvenirs that are on display in a glass cabinet look far far better quality than there modern counterparts, its a shame they don't sell reproductions. In conclusion "Où est le fromage?"
SUPERB visit to the ROQUFORT SOCIETE caves where the king of cheeses originated. Tasting all four varieties is highly recommended. The restaurant is excellent. Loved the roquefort ice cream on the salad!
Just visited, 7.50e. If you are English and dont speak French, you are given a piece of paper with information on. When the guide is speaking it is dark so you cannot read. A head set would be far better for none French-speaking guests. The caves were different but stopping and starting having no idea what was said was a complete waste of time and money. We travelled 5 1/2 hours to specifically listen to the wonderful story of how this tasty cheese is made. I have never made a review in my life this is how dissatisfied and disappointed I am.
Fantastic tour! The guide spoke both in French and English. The caves are amazing. Wear a jacket.
A paid visit to walk the caverns. Tour guide provided, but there is no English language guide, exclusively French. I guess that's the fault of none French speaking English folk. For English, and I guess every other nationality you are given a printed sheet and follow the guide into the darkness, not sure how you read the text. The caves themselves are fascinating, the work done in them is amazing, but the tour was such a disappointment. If they offered headsets and codes to pick up the tour story that would be so much better, would not recommend it as a must do.
Tops! Best cheese, best caves. Our tour guide was wonderful and it was incredible to see the chilly caves and the wheels of cheese.
Very well guided and interesting visit

We went during the off season (end of february) and it was amazing! There were multiple tours each day and our group was about 8 people. First you watch two documentary films and after you go into the caves and discover different aspects of the cheese production. The best part is of course the tasting in the end where you can try 4 different Roquefort cheeses! I can’t believe this was free! It was an amazing experience and I would definitely recommend
You start in a tiny low ceiling movie room that shows you how they made cheese from waaay back! It was helpful. You walk down a lot of stairs so if you have any physical challenges you may want to see if they have other accessible ways. It's very cold, but informative and interesting. I don't speak French, but they actually had the presentation written in English for those who didn't understand, which was very nice of them. 😊
Nice visit, knowledgeable guide. Good cheese. What else do you need?
2nd only to Société. Boutique is lacking in variety of goods and souvenirs. However, the staff were amazing and took time to explain everything and let us taste.
A really informative and welcoming visit! Our guide was super friendly and what we learned about Roquefort is incredible! The caves show great history and most importantly.... the cheese tasting experience was delicious :) all free- who could ask for more?!
Long drawn out visit, but full of information and worthwhile. They did really well to include me as the late arriving, only non-French speaker in the tour group! And the prize... fantastic cheese!
What a deception! Haven't seen any cheese at all. It's an old storage unit with some old wooden storing rooms and you get to see a movie how it was before everything moved to the new facility.
Some lengthy moments but overall very instructive and fun, so it's definitely worth it. The guide was awesome.

Fantastic organic Roquefort. Generous tastings that you can help yourself at. Also a self-guided tour of their caves on site. We visited on a Sunday in Winter and were very impressed to find them open. They sell a fair range of local souvenirs as well.
The boutique had much more than just cheese to offer and was quite crowded with shoppers. The cheese was OK in my opinion but didn't come close to Papillon and Société
Interesting movie with English, German and Spanish subtitles
(Translated by Google) This cellar is a completely self-guided tour. You'll begin with a short film retracing the history of the Gabriel Coulet house and the production of Roquefort cheese. Then, you can begin the tour by exploring the different floors, where everything is well explained. Plan to wrap up warm, as it's quite chilly. The tour ends with a visit to the shop, where you can taste the different Roquefort cheeses and then purchase some.
(Translated by Google) May 30, 2025 Roquefort Cheese Factory. The visit was free and only in French. They offer a sample tour with a video explaining the history and process. Afterward, they demonstrate the products and manufacturing procedures underground. They don't offer tours of the tunnels where the cheeses are stored; it's a shame. At the end of the exhibition, there is a tasting of the different cheeses. Good variety and quality. Fantastic service and advice! The friendly staff provided advice on the immediate area as well as, unprompted, called another town's tourist centre to find out details about specific venues. Absolutely brilliant.
Camped on the aire here.Great views across the valley toilet, water, and waste disposal. 5 min walk to the roquefort cheese shops.
Very helpful lady who explained different visit options. Best place to park motor home then walk into town.

Simply the best roquefort I have ever eaten.
A nice insight in the cheesemakingbusiness and the cheese is good! very nice explanatory movie aswell. texts are also available in English.
(Translated by Google) I fully recommend booking the guided tour. For a newbie to Roquefort like me, I learned a lot and it's something to meet the owners who are giving you this tour. I came out of there feeling won over, with all this information, these addresses to find this cheese elsewhere in France and this world of artisanal cheese. This know-how must be preserved and this company does it extremely well. Thanks again! Merci encore !
(Translated by Google) We have been tasting it for more than 10 years, this is the first time we can come here (finally retirement! And the store is closed on weekends) IT IS THE BEST ROQUEFORTS. Although the store is a little out of the way from the city center.... go there, you will be won over!!!
(Translated by Google) We were lucky enough to have a "private tour" with the owner herself. The passionate foodie in me left with stars in my eyes, and that was before the tasting!!! Their Roquefort is divine! It perfectly combines character, creaminess, and sweetness. It instantly became my favorite Roquefort. At the shop, DON'T MISS the shepherd's tartine, which isn't a tartine per se, but more of a spread. It's addictive, I'd put it everywhere if I didn't hold back. You'll have guessed, I fell under its spell...

I tried many Roquefort, but the traditional one here is really tasty. Highly recommend!
Brilliant tasting and an educational discussion with the young salesman from Carles at the Paris Agricultural Show today. A magnificent Roquefort and great savoir faire to produce it. A must from now on!
Very good cheese. Costs 55.90 EUR per kilo in Galeries Lafayette in Berlin.
(Translated by Google) I'm familiar with Carles Roquefort; it's a good cheese, but I have to say I just bought a piece yesterday in the deli section of Monoprix, and I'm disappointed. It's of inferior texture, and very, very salty... I don't find the quality or taste that probably made its reputation long ago. I wonder if the quality hasn't deteriorated?
(Translated by Google) Very friendly place and superb discovery, smiling and friendly manager. We tasted the two Roquefort specialties, the traditional recipe + according to them the new recipe which is about two years old... distributed with the traditional recipe! Quality/price more than correct I highly recommend this shop.
(Translated by Google) We went shopping at Maison Carles and were warmly welcomed by a very passionate gentleman who offered us a tasting of his products. Both types of Roquefort are delicious, and we preferred the more authentic traditional one. A special mention goes to the Roquefort sausage made with the house's Roquefort! We will definitely be back!
(Translated by Google) We found ourselves in this store quite by chance and we are far from regretting it. Indeed after visiting the competing cellar (Papillon not to mention it) and having learned how Roquefort was made (more in their cellars by the way) we were looking for a traditional Roquefort producer and we found him to our greatest happiness. The welcome was wonderful, the person present loves his work and did not hesitate to take the time to explain to us that we will not visit the cellars because Roquefort is still produced there. We were in the place we were looking for and it was only natural that we left with our arms full of Roquefort and other specialties.
(Translated by Google) For me, this is clearly the pinnacle of Roquefort. Slightly creamy, not overly salty: compliments!
