Already reviewed. Super temple. Shri Velayuthaswamy temple in Thindal is a very famous one in Erode. A new Gopuram will come up soon to add more beauty to the temple. It is a must visit temple.
Nestled atop Thindal Malai hill, the temple offers "a serene atmosphere" and "panoramic views of Erode" . The temple is accessible by climbing roughly 120 steps, or via a well-paved road for vehicles . Ample parking is available, though there is a fee, and some small shops at the base offer flowers and other items . Located approximately 6–8 km from Erode city center, it’s well-connected via buses and road networks . Festivals & Special Highlights The temple car (golden chariot) is run on certain occasions—such as Fridays—and can be witnessed by paying a donation (e.g., ₹1,500) . Major festivals like Thaipusam, Karthigai Deepam, and Panguni Uthiram are celebrated with grandeur and draw large crowds . The temple holds significance as one of the 108 Murugan shrines celebrated in Tiruppugazh hymns .
Thindal Murugan Kovil is truly a divine and spiritually uplifting place dedicated to Lord Murugan, the embodiment of wisdom, courage, and victory. The temple is situated on a small hill, giving devotees a serene atmosphere away from the noise of the city. Climbing up and having darshan itself feels like a blessing, as the cool breeze and peaceful surroundings fill the mind with positivity and devotion. The idol of Lord Murugan here is majestic and radiates divine energy. The temple is well-maintained, with clean premises and organized darshan, allowing devotees to worship peacefully. The chanting of mantras and the sound of temple bells create an aura of spirituality that deeply touches the soul. One of the highlights is the panoramic view from the top of the hill, which adds to the beauty and sanctity of the temple. Visiting during early mornings or evenings gives a blissful experience, especially when the temple lights shine across the city. Climbing up is easy, and the cool breeze makes it a pleasant experience. The main deity, Lord Murugan, looks divine and powerful, bringing peace and positivity to everyone who visits. The temple is clean and well maintained, and the priests are kind and helpful. When I visited, some construction work was going on, which shows that the temple is being improved for devotees. There is car parking available, but it is limited, so visiting early or on weekdays is better. The temple is near a busy traffic area, but it’s easy to reach, and there is a bus stop nearby for those using public transport. The morning and evening atmosphere is very calm and spiritual with beautiful chants. Overall, a must-visit temple in Erode for peace, devotion, and blessings.

Had a truly divine day here. The hilltop setting is peaceful and we were delighted to see many peacocks around the premises—made the visit feel extra special. Do be a little careful with the monkeys though; keep food and bags secure. Beyond the main sanctum, there are two smaller temples a short, walkable distance away. The stroll is pleasant and worth it for the serene vibe and views. Facilities were clean, the staff were courteous, and the overall atmosphere was calm and devotional. If you can, try visiting early morning or around sunset for cooler weather and beautiful light. A wonderful place for darshan and a quiet escape from the bustle. 🙏🦚🐒

Beautiful temple located on top of the hill with very peaceful ambience ... Now road to temple has been laid , so you can reach by car, bike and bus operated by temple (like marudhamalai).. Do not litter the temple surrounding. plastic litters are harm to other living things on the hills.. 😞
If you are planning to visit via public transport from erode there is direct bus. If not there is a bus from kangayam to perundurai vice versa. More than 1200 steps. There is also bus facility available for top but atleast 15 members should opt for that to use bus facility. If you are lucky you can see peacock.
A Divine Hilltop Experience. I lamped 108 Diyas 🪔 for Lord murugan as i have taken a Vow to him. A peaceful miracle that one must visit. The temple is believed to be over 1,000 years old, with origins dating back to the Chola period, built by Sivalaya Cholan of the Kongu Chola dynasty. Slide 1 of 8
If you're a traveller who loves bird watching, you'll be thrilled to know that this sanctuary attracts both migratory and non-migratory birds. The migratory birds usually arrive at the reserve between October and December, so plan your visit accordingly. During the monsoon season, the bird sanctuary becomes an ideal place for birds to rest and nest, as they can easily find food in the nearby lake and farming fields, and plenty of trees to take shelter in. Additionally, the abundance of fish species in the area provides a source of food for both local and migratory birds.🦚🦩🕊️🐦🦩🏞️🌲
Peaceful Spot for Mind Relaxation, But Not Ideal for All. Vellode Bird Sanctuary is a calm and beautiful place mainly for mind relaxation. It's a decent choice if you're looking to spend some quiet time in nature. However, it's just okay for kids—there isn’t much entertainment or activity to keep them engaged for long. The place is often occupied by couples and lovers, especially on weekends, and most of the sitting areas are taken up by them, which might make families or solo visitors slightly uncomfortable. Entry Fees: Adults: ₹25 Children: ₹15 Bike Parking: ₹20 Car Parking: ₹40 Timings: Open daily from 6:00 AM to 5:30 PM Canteen is ok ice cream Good but price is high. One thing to note: Birds are mostly seen only in specific seasons. During off-season visits, there are hardly any birds, and it might feel like a regular park with not much to see. Great place for a short visit if you're nearby and looking for some peace. Not highly recommended for tourists expecting a bird-watching experience all year round.
Calm spot near Erode, plenty of birds to watch, best in morning and evening during winter time (Nov–Mar). You can see pelicans, painted storks, spoonbills, and other migratory birds from abroad. Less crowd, peaceful for nature lovers and photographer. Entry fees Adult - 25 Children - 15 Two wheeler - 20 Four wheeler - 50 Binocular - 50
The moment you enter, you’re greeted by the soothing sounds of chirping birds and rustling leaves. Whether it's colorful kingfishers by the water, graceful egrets in the distance, or tiny sparrows fluttering through the trees, each species seems at home — and you, a quiet guest in their world.
What a pleasant place for birds and butterflies nesting .. Nature is beauty. This is such a place, anyone must visit during winter season. Nature admirers enjoy
Very peaceful place, morning or evening is best to see birds, other times it's looking like a lovers park, very clean and neat also well maintained.
One of the best spots for bird watchers and nature lovers. A lot of birds can be seen here. The maintenance is outstanding here. There is a park and playground for kids. The canteen also is good. Entry ticket cost for adults is 50 and 20 for parking.
Beautiful place with will maintained facilities! Great conservation effort 👌

I vividly recall venturing into the expansive forest, filled with an abundance of towering trees. Our entry point was through the side of Wayanadu. We were unable to venture deep into the forest due to restrictions in place, as it is home to numerous wild animals, and there is a significant population of tribal communities residing within its depths. It is crucial to be accompanied by someone who possesses knowledge of the forest if you intend to explore it. Therefore, if you plan to venture into the forest, it's advisable to be accompanied by an experienced guide or someone familiar with the area.
Sathyamangalam forest is a greenery forest maintained by Government to maintain natural green ecological cover and to protect wild life. Forest department permission required to visit. Wild life like deer, bison, elephant and if lucky cheetah and tiger can be seen. Beautiful place to enjoy with nature
Just a driving experience and a view closer to the nature. There's nothing else except for these. No safari, no wild animal sights, nothing.
Very dense forest.. Curvy roads were amazing to ride on (continental GT 650)..went on a weekday so absolutely no people or traffic..it was so isolated and dense forest that I got scared sometimes that any wild animal might come ..make sure to have enough petrol coz u won't find civilization for many km after u enter ..
Natural pleasant climate feeling place. Good ambience can be found. Good for tourism. Favourable for bike riders. Good place to visit with family and kids.
Sathyamangalam tiger reserve, a forest less crowded than Bandipur. Nature is lush green here and animal sighting chances are better than Bandipur. A 240km drive from Bangalore, Sathyamangalam is well known forest for being the prime hideout of the sandalwood decoit Veerappan. Towards Coimbatore a road through the jungles and a 27 hair pin hill drive will blow your mind. There was hardly any stay available while my first visit in 2017. But some popped up these days with quality bread and breakfast deep interior in the forests. Can be a photographer's paradise and a good relaxation with family and friends. Own vehicle is the only possibility to explore the forest.
often seen wilds like deer, wild bulls, bear, leopard, elephant, horses, Restriction to park the vehicle and photography ,busy road on nights, Night traveling for civilians not recommend often traffic jams due accidents or vehicle breakdown, Day journey if good , 27 hair pin bends ,safety driving shows the discipline of driver
Mesmerizing Views all round. Awesome 27 hairpins for all the bike enthusiasts out there to conquer.

The Kongalamman Temple, nestled in the heart of Erode, Tamil Nadu, is more than just a place of worship; it's a spiritual and cultural cornerstone of the Kongu region. Dedicated to the powerful goddess Kongalamman, the temple pulsates with an ancient energy that draws devotees from far and wide. The temple's history stretches back centuries, with inscriptions dating it to the Chola era. As you approach the temple, the towering gopuram, adorned with vibrant sculptures of deities and mythical creatures, transports you to a bygone era. The intricately carved pillars and ceilings inside the temple speak volumes about the skill and devotion of the artisans who brought it to life. The main sanctum houses the resplendent idol of Goddess Kongalamman, her twelve arms adorned with symbolic weapons, radiating power and benevolence. Devotees flock to her, seeking blessings for everything from good health and prosperity to success in studies and relationships. The atmosphere inside the temple is one of quiet reverence, punctuated by the rhythmic chanting of hymns and the clanging of bells. Beyond its religious significance, the Kongalamman Temple also holds a special place in the hearts of the local community. The temple complex houses a well that is said to never run dry, even in times of drought. This has earned the temple the moniker "Thirumoorthy Theertham," meaning "holy well of three forms," further solidifying its status as a symbol of hope and resilience. Whether you're a spiritual seeker, a history buff, or simply someone who appreciates beautiful architecture and vibrant culture, the Kongalamman Temple is a must-visit destination in Erode. Temple History: Kongalamman is considered as the principal temple of Erode and is the Community Goddess of Erode people. The Goddess is endearingly worshipped as Kongalayee. According to some historical facts, the temple is believed to have been built thousand years ago. Some people wanted to steal the Goddess for installing in their place. While on their way, at Anangur, the axle of the cart was broken and the people fled away. People of Angur, enticed by the beauty of the idol, installed her at their place and began worshipping. She was named Aadi Kongalamman. The Goddess has 12 hands holding trident, udukkai, snake, Vedas, bell, skull etc. After seeing this idol, people of Erode made one such, installed and began worshipping. While water is carried from Cauvery for abishek in other temple, the first abishek is offered to Kongalamman and this tradition continues even today. Then only, Cauvery water is taken to other temples.
