This place has a very nice atmosphere. Friendly staff and a great terrace. If you're interested in the fortifications of the Dutch Waterline, this is definitely recommendable.
Food was nothing special, but the setting was nice. Very quiet and tranquil
Great to eat or drink something on a nice sunny day biking or walking around. They do parties and also private bbqs. The prices are very decent. Saté, 'bittergarnituur', beer etc are all served there.
Super top band, 🥰 🥳

Didn't go to the café but visited the rest of the fortress

Heritage place to visit. This was my children’s tale story which I used to listen when I used to be a kid! Finally made it to this place! Thanks to my aunt who reminded me to see this place.
The story of Hans Brinker, the silver skates, and plugging a hole in a dike by a Dutch boy’s finger saving the town from a flood is not real. It’s folklore. But the historic village of Spaarndam has capitalised on the story’s fame popularized in the book ‘Hans Brinker; or, Silver Skates.’ This children’s classic was written by American writer Mary Mapes Dodge, who didn’t visit the Netherlands until after her book was published in 1865. Born in New York (formerly New Amsterdam) in 1831, Mary was fascinated by Dutch history and culture. She obtained firsthand knowledge about Dutch life from her neighbours who were emigrated from the Netherlands. After WWII, the book about Hans, the silver skates and his finger gained popularity in the United States. The story about sticking his finger in the dike to save a village from a flood became legendary. As American tourists started visiting the Netherlands after the war, they kept asking where they could see the dike and Hans Brinker’s village. Never letting an opportunity to attract tourists go to waste, the Dutch Bureau for Tourism decided to place a statue of Hans Brinker in Spaarndam in 1950. The statue was sculpted by the Dutch sculptor Grada Rueb of Breda.
(Translated by Google) This statue was erected in 1950 and is famous in many countries. It is a statue of a boy who was saved by the Netherlands by blocking an embankment with his body. The village is cute and pretty, but the sculpture itself is not as big as you think and there is nothing else to see, so it is appropriate to visit it while passing by. (This boy's story was originally written by an American children's story writer with a Dutch background, but it is said that it was written later because it was not known well in the Netherlands^^;;) (Original)
(Translated by Google) Nice story, but it was a small statue of Hansje Brinker with the viger in the dike Savior so that no flooding pllats found. (Original) Leuk verhaal maar het was wel een klein beeldje Hansje Brinker met de vi ger in de dijk Redder zodat er geen overstroming pllats vond.

Then and now, Hansje makes us aware of our actions and their effect on the immediate environment!
